komekn: Jose Morais, the new SE coach ❓
l really hope these are just rumours because if they are not it's blatantly apparent why he is gettin the job.
He is for me mediocrity personified ,don't care if he has a PhD in football coaching and is the first son of Cruyff. He is not what we need , l prefer Sia Sia, Yobo , Finidi, Amunike, Eguavon even the TheGoodJoe .
Look at the screen shots below, NOTHING more to be said. And worse of all, they will pay him twice the amount of a local coach |

lbrichman2: I finally get your point Since nothing is guaranteed anyway, why not just invest in local coaches and empower them instead? Since you will get more or less the same results anyway.. Atleast you'll be building something we can profit from in the future
Pinnicks administration lacks vision That I'm beginning to see No clear plan, no strategy That's why they keep going round and round in circles And in the future, we will benefit. Do you remember when Nigeria music industry was saturated with American rappers? Every radio stations, parties used to only play America music until we decided to love ourselves all of a sudden, African and rest of the world joined |

TheGoodJoe: Interesting article above on Jose Morais, the guy rumored to soon take over the Super Eagles.
I think my fears are right. His philosophy is strictly down to winning. Nice he took time to go to La Masia to learn more about the modern game but three weeks is not enough in anyway.
Morais is most likely not a modern strategic coach and I see his appointment as a possible draw back.
A lot of teams today are aligning to the modern way of play but we are going for a coach that might not bring that.
I would have preferred a move totally into the modern strategy. Time will tell but I am not optimistic. The sad part of these foreign journmen coaches is that, they cannot guarantee a trophy or even round of 16 World Cup appearance or a nations cup trophy.. since, all those aforementioned aren’t guaranteed why not just invest into local coaches If we’re going to be hiring foreign coaches, then we should also hire foreign NFF administrators |

If we cannot hire a proven winner, we should just forget about a foreign coach entirely. SE shouldn’t be a place to build your resume. Proven winner (foreign coach) or just give out local coach a chance |

In the game against Ivory Coast we barely created any proper scoring opportunity just speculative shots and crosses What about Tunisia? What about flogging Algeria 5-2 in oman and zimbabwe 5-0? His downside was that Brentford massacre and also losing to Ghana under 23 in 2011 but he beat Ghana 1 0 |

Some weeks back they were complaining about the guy here and praising Aina. Now you point out a flaw and they come for you. Everyone wants a scapegoat to slice. You can't air your views without a prey coming for you.
When your team mates don't trust you much, it is diffrernt from a coach allowing you to play nevertheless, with clear instructions. Sanusi is playing because his coach Wants him to play, but his teammates seen not to trust him enough. After seeing most of their match I felt it was even (partially) racism. I don't know. But dude is not special or unique. He is not better than Aina or Collins. He is just there. All grunts and no sense. He is definitely better than Collins and aina |

Philosopher1979: EGUAVON SHOULD TAKE US TO THE WORLD CUP
I read part of Eguavons interview and i realized he knows what he is doing. His actions even indicate this fact.
1. Immediately he wants to correct the problem of our lack of creativity in midfield by inviting nwakali, alhassan yusuf etc. 2. In his interview, he understands his players and their strengths and weaknesses. 3. It seems he plans to use Chidera Ejuke and Samuel Chukwueze behind a striker 4. He seems to understand the Nigerian philosophy and style of play with wingers, good passers in midfield etc 5. By the end of this afcon the problem of lack of creativity in midfield will be gone thanks to Eguavon. No team will dominate us in midfield again 6. He knows the players inside out and how to use them. He even said iheanacho is positionally confused which is a very intelligent statement 7. I have said it we just need a coach that understands us, our mentality and how to use us. 8. He has the westerhoof model which is the only model that seems to work 9. You see, foreign coaches flatter to deceive. They look so attractive but are like wind without rain. What happens on the field of play is all that matters not someone playing in Real Madrid. 10. We may hate it but our most creative players are not in the top 5 leagues and eguavon understands that. He does not mind and wants to use them. 11. In football, even if lewandoski, cavani, ronaldo and Ibrahimovic are in your attack, without creative midfeidlers and wingers, your attack will be limited. This is what Eguavon understands and Rohr does not. 12. As per the guy from the Isreali league, he may turn out to be another sunday Mba. Not all players in obscure leagues are bad. It is just by percentage. 15% of players in obscure leagues are good while 85% of players in the top 10 leagues are good. It is just finding the 15% in obscure leagues that are good that is the problem and the Isreali league guy may fall into the 15%. 14. Eguavon may not seem attractive but he will deliver at the end of the day. 15. Someone mentioned the fact that the USA 94 team did not play for the top teams of Europe but it made me smile. African born players dont get the recognition players born in Europe get early in their career. they may have to wait till after they are 25 to get into teams like barcelona, chelsea etc. But that does not make them bad. Talent is talent everywhere and a boy in Mushin can be more talented that a player in west Ham. His main objective is to win ANC or reach the finals. Anything contrary and Afcon will be considered as a disappointment |

Eizzy003: I think its really Rui Varia cos i just saw a post in the front page that says, Pinnick met Mourinho to recommend a coach for the super eagles of which he did, and the coach will be in Cameroon but as a spectator and not a coach. And now you are mentioning Rui Faria, and it so happens that Rui Faria has been Mourunho long time assistant. Modified I hope he is not as conservative as his boss Mourinho Pinnick is a dunce. Think about it, if Nigeria hires pep or mourinho, there are no guarantees that we would even win nations cup, let alone reach Quarterfinals at the World Cup. So, what do we have to lose by hiring a local coach especially as his salary will be in arrears? |

drDoom3: Iwobi just destroyed a perfect counter attack by refusing to play a simple pass to Doucoure to set up a one-on-one. He had at least five seconds to pick the pass and still messed it up.
I still think Aribo is a better passer than Iwobi, and Aribo should be tried as a 10 in place of Iwobi with Onyeka and Ndidi behind him. Once again, Nigerians trying to allow the European narratives to dictate our players. The iwobi of Nigeria playing at his best position is a much productive than the iwobi of Everton |

komekn: So the writer is Arsene Wenger, Mourinho, Pep and or Zidane. So we should now take his word as the complete verdict for outstanding performance.
You are being delusional.
The Segunda Division is VERY VERY LOW in quality and the money is a joke. At one stage the entire transfer budget of the Segunda Division was almost on par with Fulham transfer expenditure in the Championship. That should tell you something.
Nwakali is near 24 years old and people are still talking about youth football exploits of 7/8 years ago, that's ludicrous. Nwakali is OVER HYPED by so many here, he failed in the Dutch Eredivisie, failed again in the second by tier Eerste Divisie.
He was so resoundingly astounding , he went to Porto B and couldn't even be a regular. He is now in Huesca and remains in there , WHY ❓ Too good
These are not the attributes of outstanding quality but the opposite.
When he went to Arsenal , Saka, Okonkwo, Folarin, Nelson, Akinola, Emile Smith, were in some cases 12/13 years old . Now look at those players today.
But he couldn't cut, he was simply not good enough. And don't say discrimination and racism Arsenal has more Nigerian players in the reserves than any other team in Europe.
Football is a very short term career and time waits for no one. I feel like you’re being too harsh on him. Yes, he hasn’t fulfilled his potential shown at youth level. But, to dismiss an African player talent simply because he hasn’t made it big is incorrect. There are lots of factors that contribute towards a player excelling at the highest level and that includes discipline, Luck etc…. Talent isn’t the only requirement… the only time, that I was privileged to watch nwakali at senior level for Nigeria was vs Athletico Madrid and he was the best player in that game. Mind you, it was a game that included Thomas partey, fernando torres, correa, borja, juanfran.. yet nwakali was the most valuable player in that game and scored a world class goal… my point is that, we shouldn’t allow the European teams to narrate and dictate our players.. if a player has a history of performing for his country and he isn’t impressing at his club, continue using him.. in the case of Nigeria, we only have iwobi or Aribo to certain extent as a playmaking option and we have nothing to lose if our coach tries out another player at that position.. if nwakali flops, he wouldn’t be invited while if he performs, a solution would had been found |

ChrisKels: How N5, 000 Payment To A "One-night Lady" Caused Crisis In Super Eagles Under Rohr
The indiscipline in the Super Eagles camp under Gernot Rohr took an ugly dimension after the Franco – German was alleged to have sneaked in a lady of the night into his room for a night of romance, only for him to give the lady N5,000.00 (five thousand naira only) the following morning, which sparked crisis, as the lady vehemently refused the money given to her, reports Totorinews
According to a reliable source, the Franco – German tactician, who was officially sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) on Sunday, could not really assert discipline in the camp of the Super Eagles, as he was fond of sneaking in ladies of different forms and shapes to his room for a night of pleasure, while in the camp of the Super Eagles.
“Any coach that wants to instill discipline in his camp must lead by example. Sadly, Rohr could not do that. He is known for bringing different ladies to his room whenever the Super Eagles were in camp.” the reliable source revealed.
“Whatever he did with them in his room, i don’t know, but I could recall a very shameful drama when the coach gave a lady paltry N5,000 (five thousand naira only) after she spent a night with him.
“It was a very shameful scene at the hotel as the lady refused to collect the money. How I go play with oyibo for a whole night and this yeye oyibo man go give me N5k, for wetin na?, the lady could be heard shouting.
“The matter was resolved as the randy German did the needful to pacify the lady.I still remember when the Eagles camped at Benin in that game that ended 4-4, while i was at the reception of the hotel, I saw Rohr come down to the reception to beckon a lady to follow him upstairs to his room.
“They both entered the elevator and went up. Apparently, the lady was denied access to the camp of the team by the hotel staff, but she mentioned the name of the person she came to see and he (Rohr) eventually came the reception to pick her. This happened at about 10pm.
“A good coach should always show exemplary behaviour to his players, but Rohr was very weak in this regard,” he said. This doesn’t sound like Rohr and it clearly looks like a smear campaign created by Rohr nemesis. Why didn’t the sources, said anything during Rohr term |

Philosopher1979: What makes you to think Anayo iwuala is not good enough. Because he does not play in Europe Football does not allways work like that. He might even turn out to be one of our best players and get us vital goals and assists. Football is about opportunities and advertisment. Some players are good but not well advertised. He might be better than some European based players. Westerhoof prefered Amunike when he was in Zamalek to Tijani Babangida. Also, time changes things. He might move to Europe in a few years and do big things. I have watched him play and he seems a very creative players. Football is not straightforward like that. In fact, that was Rohrs mistake. He thinks club form is everything and it does not allways work. The issue of club form does not work for Moses Simon and paul Onuachu. In fact, i think Anthony Nwakaeme can be a better player for Nigeria than Moses Simon and other wingers in better leagues. Football is not as straight forward as this Let’s stop being sentimental or create a Quota system and just select our best available players. On current form, do you really think that, Anayo iwuala is a better winger than Victor Moses, chukwueze, dennis, ademola lookman, onyekuru? If not, why are you saying that it isn’t suprising to see his name on afcon 28 man list |
