They never told him he was donating a kidney! They approaches him in Nigeria and offered to help him find work in the UK. And the desperate boy took them as God- sent.
He thought the reason for the blood tests in Nigeria were to ensure he's healthy enough to travel.

He heard about kidney donation for the first when he got to the UK and the Doctor has testified he was relieved when the boy was told the surgery wouldn't take place.
When the Ekweremmadus saw the boy was no longer useful to them, they started maltreating him and that's why he ran away and trekked for 3 days until he came across a police station.

Sonia is not innocent, she's complicit. She's doesn't deserve sympathy.

That's the way the law in a sane country works, if you witness a crime and don't leave the scene or call for help, you are complicit and are equally guilty!
