Politics › Re: I Didn't Offer To Buy Kidney - Ekweremadu Tells UK Court by 1Sharon(f): 4:33pm On Feb 09, 2023 |
grandstar: I very much doubt the donor would have acted altruistically. Probably upon discovering he wasn't an ideal match, they probably left him empty handed. Leaving the UK empty handed for the poverty stricken Nigeria might have been too much for the donor and hence the present imbroglio.
I feel if Ekweremadu had settled the donor well after the disappointing medicals, the story today might be different. He was an ideal match, he just wasn't suitable for the surgery. The Doctors sensed something was off. Once they called off the surgery, they likely started maltreating him already. That's why the boy ran away and he was wandering for 3 days until he came across a police station. Even if the transplant was successful, they had no intentions of paying him, they didn't even tell him why they bought him to the UK. But luck is on the boy's side, people that are victims of trafficking don't get deported easily. They may allow him to settle. |

Gemma11: Everyone keeps saying this without realising that any 'good' hospital with stringent policies and good moral medical staff, whether that be in Nigeria or elsewhere in the world would not agree to harvest the organ of a young man for the sum of money.
Only corrupt hospitals with corrupt medical staff would do that.
Sonia should have put her name on the donor list to wait for a kidney, which in most cases would come from someone who has given consent for their organ to be donated only after unexpected death because living altruistic donors are few and far between You think her name wasn't on the waiting list? Do you know how long it is for a black person in the West to receive an organ? It's not a thing for black people to donate organs or even their blood. |

1stGenAmerican: Yep, organized crime done by a criminal network. The doctor who is their co-defendant had medical privileges to practice at the hospital. Because he had also received a kidney and was a practicing doctor, he knew what corners needed to be cut and what lies needed to be told. I’m waiting to find out if the NHS would’ve paid or reimbursed for the transplant. That would’ve been an incentive to do it in the UK rather than Turkey. Nope they will not. |

ednut1: Blacks abroad rarely donate their organs thereby making those needing organs wait for years or even die before getting a donor. The man attempted shortcut and will pay dearly for it That's the selfishness of our people. They don't donate blood either. But in their time of need I'm sure they'd like to receive blood or organs with open arms. |

spiralwedge: I love British press.
It's like reading a textbook.
You can't read this and still make d.umb comment, because everything is explained there.
It is straightforward. The whole family is going down. I don't support evil or Nigerian politicians, because they are like 5&6. But they could have chosen somewhere else like India or Pakistan. Yes India or even Turkey. If they had any intentions to pay the boy they wouldn't be charged with slavery. They might have just done the 3 years for organ trafficking now look at them..due to their own wickedness. They are being charged with modern slavery on top Even when our people are rich they still do aka gum. Na Africans dey do Africans. |

Saintmary: Nigeria is not a first-world country,so this advice is not applicable.
Presently in Nigeria, amniocentesis is still an avant garde dream procedure, we know about it, but we do not have the facilities to perform it, neither do we have the facilities to provide this specific post-op care.
His fiancee will find love elsewhere, they will both be alright at the end. PGD nko, you can't do that one either? |

Saintmary: Do you have any idea how risky amniocentesis is?
They will insert a needle into a pregnancy belly from outside to extract something from inside the belly, thereby puncturing the belly, uterus and placenta.
How many Nigerian medical practitioners have successfully performed amniocentesis in Nigeria?
How many hospitals in Nigeria have such facilities to protect the mother and foetus in such a delicate situation?
How many patients are willing to risk precious pregnancies for such a procedure?
All because a man is too lazy to find a suitable bride? I'm from a 1st world country and amniocentesis is not risky at all. The risk is less than 1%. If amniocentesis is so dangerous in nigeria, let him consider other options. There is no need to throw his fiancee away without considering all avenues. |

Badhguy: You can still have up to three kids, all (AS) if you go head. It is from the 4th child that comes out as (SS). You can confirm this by asking your doctor. This is not true. A couple with AS genotype both have a 50% chance at CONCEPTION of having a child with SS, not at birth. |

AS genotype shouldn't be a hindrance! If you meet a woman that is AS you can still go ahead.
Go for genetic counselling, there are options.
You can do:
amniocentesis OR
pre implantation genetic diagnosis.
Those options are if you have the money and are brave enough. |
