Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has called up 24 players for Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup qualifying game against Algeria in Uyo. Nigeria-born Rinsola Babajide netted fourteen goals in the second half for the Univeristy of East London women’s football team in their 40-0 demolition of the University College London at the British Universities and College Sports cup game. The UEL women were 15 goals up in the first half before rounding up the game with 25 goals in the second half in their second fixture of the BUCS Wednesday. Babajide who plays for Millwall Lionesses was on target for the England U19 in their 2-1 victory over USA U19 at the Women’s International Cup a week ago. The England youth international took to the social media to celebrate the victory. “40-0 win in a cup game vs UCL – scored 14 goals & a few assists next round here we come , well-done girls,” Babajide tweeted. Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has made an order for made-in-Aba shoes. Obasanjo made the order through the Chief Marketing Officer of Made-in-Aba Product, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu during the 2016 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Forum in Lagos. The Lagos State Government today flagged-off the Market Deratisation Programme, aimed at ridding the state of the Lassa Fever vector at Obalende market. Commissioner for Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare at the flag-off said that the state will not relent in its effort at making the state the safest place to live in by providing a safe environment The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the government is collaborating with Phosguard Fumigants, an NGO, to promote the programme through “Kill rats, make more money in Lagos’’. Under the programme, the residents are encouraged to kill rats in their environs which the programme implementers, Phosguard will buy at a yet-to-be determined price for proper disposal. The commissioner said the government was resolved to make Lagos State one of the safest places in spite of its increasing population. “According to a UN report, our nation still ranks among the countries with the highest number of infant mortality, hence we need to look inward to know how we can control this. “In lieu of this, we are looking at how we can free Lagos from diseases, pestilence and infestations. We talk about mosquito control, pest control and other dangerous animals in our society. “The administration of Gov. Akinwumi Ambode is committed to ensuring that we have the safest place to live in not minding anywhere we are in Lagos,’’ he said. Alhaji Sadiq Mohammed Rabiu, the chairman of the Kogi Pilgrims Board has been suspended by the state governor, Yahaya Bello, and handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation and possible prosecution. Director-General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo, who disclosed this in a statement in Lokoja, said Rabiu had been handed over to the Department of State Services, DSS, for investigation and possible prosecution over allegation of fraud during the just concluded Hajj. Fanwo expressed the governor’s discontent with the dehumanising treatment of pilgrims from the state during the 2016 Hajj. Fanwo said: “The travails of the chairman stemmed from allegations of corruption, nepotism and blatant disregard to the welfare of the state’s contingent to this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.” He said that the suspension of the chairman followed the outcome of an investigative panel into the allegations of corruption, nepotism and dehumanising treatment of pilgrims, in spite of adequate provisions made by government. The Lagos state police command has said a motorcyclist simply identified as Tunde who was found dead with a rope tied to his throat at an uncompleted building on Rasaki Sodande Street, Aboru on Sunday September 4, was murdered. Reacting to the incident, spokesperson of the state police command, Dolapo Badmos told the Nation that preliminary investigation showed the deceased was murdered “We have ruled out the possibility of suicide because prelimanary investigations show that the man was killed. We do not know him. We only know his name is Tunde. He was strangled from our findings and we are trying to get to the bottom of the matter. For now, the case is under discreet investigation. Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army on operations aimed at dealing with the menace of livestock rustling, armed banditry and other forms of criminality have killed an armed bandit, arrested some, cleared camps and recovered livestock in Kaduna and Zamfara States. Yesterday the troops arrested a notorious cattle rustler named Isah Fulani at Mararrabar Jos, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.Similarly, the troops have also killed the leader ofan livestock and armed banditry gang called Guruguru Magaji at Tashar Nakau, Ikara Local Government Area, in a fierce exchange of gun fire yesterday. The troops recovered a Revolver Pistol and 6 locally fabricated 9mm rounds of ammunition from him. The troops at Anchau, Kubau Local Government Area, Kaduna State also arrested 2 impersonators that parade themselves as members of a non-existent vigilante group harassing and extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public in the area. The suspects, Mallam Hamza Hare and Mallam Sani Abdul-Aziz also posed as liaison officers to security officers duping people. The troops have also arrested a notorious armedbandit that terrorised the public especially along the road that linked Kaduna and Katsina States through Birnin Gwari-Funtua. The armed bandit, named Mohammed is also popularly known as “Abedariwa” and was arrested in Birnin Gwari town, Kaduna State. Funky Mallam While filming in 2015, the actor was hospitalized for food poisoning. Samuel Robinson During filming of the 2016 movie "8 Bars and a Clef," the actor twisted his ankle while performing an intense scene. "I twisted my ankle performing an intense scene and was incapacitated for a few days. It was a very intense project and I literally sweat, bled and cried for this movie," 3. Denrele Edun During filming of the movie "Pepper Soup," the former Soundcity VJ bashed an eye on the floor. All in a bid to make my acting more convincing, I was supposed to drop into a faint in the very first scene of the movie "PEPPER SOUP" but I guess I miscalculated and fell hard on a metallic object on the floor that pierced my face” he said after accident. 4. Sanyeri The actor injured himself while performing a stunt on set of his new movie "Asiwaju." "The character I was playing had to climb the roof of a house because he had some spiritual problems. When the landlord of the house realised that someone was on his roof, he called the police and while avoiding arrest, the character had to jump off the roof of the house," the actor said. "That was how I broke my leg and the doctors said that the cast would be on my leg for a month." 5. Uche Jombo The actress suffered an accident while on the set of the 2012 movie, "Ikenna." The actress dislocated a bone while preparing to film a scene. 6. Emma Ehumadu The actor injured himself in 2014 while filming a robbery scene alongside Jim Iyke.
