Akinwunmi Ambode -led Lagos state government has given landed property owners till April 14 to pay the state Land Use Charge, or risk losing the benefit of enjoying 15 per cent discount for paying the levy.

Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Modupe Ileyemi, said this in a statement on Saturday.

The official said the state government was keen on early payment of the land-use charge to ensure the state continues to excel and its citizens enjoy the laudable programmes of the present administration.


Ileyemi, in a statement, said it was important to note that late payment or non-payment of the Charge on an annual basis will attract accrued penalties and accumulation of arrears, which is why prompt payment is strongly advised.

She said: “The Land Use charge is a consolidation of all property and land based rates and charges payable under the Land Rates Law, the Neighbourhood Improvement Charge Law and Tenement Rates Law in Lagos State.

“The revenue accrued from this charge is used for infrastructural development in the state.”

Controversial rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem in an interview with HIP TV said that new artistes like Don Jazzy are making a lot of money because of sacrifices of people like him.



“Without the old artistes, the new artistes won’t make money, because we fought for the life that they are living right now.

“We put food on their table because of what we fought for, and we are very happy, and that’s why we are legends, you understand. But if anyone of them tries to disrespect, we will put them back to where they belong.

“All of them, from Don Jazzy and all of them, they lived in London, how come the British government never gave them opportunity, they had to come to Nigeria because we made it happen,” he said.

Senator Dino Melaye is trying really hard to convince Nigerians that he graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

The Senator shared a photo of himself at the National Youth Service Corps camp in Kaduna State to discredit reports by SAHARA REPORTERS . The media house is alleging that Melaye never graduated from ABU Zaria.

“ABU 99 set at NYSC camp in KD. Me in blue shorts,” Melaye tweeted alongside a photo. Only bonafide graduates are allowed to participate in the NYSC scheme.

Three kindergarten school children of Ahotor DA Primary school in the Atebubu-Amanten District drowned in a dugout pond on Tuesday. According to Ghbase, the school children, 3 boys and a girl had refused to attend school on that day after it rained heavily the previous night.

The kids then decided to go swimming in the flooded dug out pond instead of going to school. Unfortunately, tragedy struck and the three boys drowned while the little girl who was with them rushed home crying for help.

Before adults could make their way to the dugout to save the children they had already drowned.

Mother Allwell Orji, the medical doctor that jumped off at the Third Mainland Bridge into the lagoon on Sunday has told sympathisers that she is hopeful that her son will be rescued by the emergency officials.



The rescue exercise, which began Sunday night and continued yesterday, was conducted down to the Oworonsoki end without any success.

A member of the family, who spoke on condition of anonymity, politely told Vanguard to leave, saying “as it is now, his mother is too devastated. She is hopeful that God can do the impossible. She has refused to see anyone now. I will appreciate it if their opinion is respected.”

However, the woman was sighted responding faintly to condolences from church members and other residents of the community.

During Mrs Orji’s conversation with sympathisers, she expressed optimism that her son would return home alive.

According to her, “I am hopeful that my son will be rescued by the emergency officials and not the recovery of his body.”

She also stated that his son was not married but that marriage plans were on before the tragedy.

A family source, however, told Vanguard that she (mother) had earlier lamented that the driver did not tell her of their journey, saying that could be the reason why he didn’t alert her immediately the tragedy occurred.

Nigerian have lashed out at Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir Elrufai over his tweet on former Goodluck Jonathan's impact on the abducted Chibok girls.

This is coming as the governor on Sunday afternoon tweeted: "JONATHANIANS!! - JUST SHAKING MY HEAD: How Jonathan's administration shockingly rejected British offer to rescue...with a link of the Guardian UK report"

Nigerians on social media are criticizing the governor over Southern Kaduna killings and as well as infringement on Court judgement for the release of the renowned Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.



Meanwhile, the Federal Government has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to stop engaging in finger-pointing over the issue of the Chibok girls who were abducted under his watch, calling such action an unnecessary distraction from ongoing efforts to secure the release of the girls who remain in captivity, long after they were abducted.

Nigeria's Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has called on the Muhammadu Buhari government to approve the increment of workers' minimum wage to N50,000.

He made the plea while delivering the 4th National Public Service Lecture of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association.

“When a man who earns N18,000, cannot buy a bag of rice, how then can such a person take care of his family? Does it make sense to him if you tell him not to find alternative means of catering to the needs of his family?" he queried.

He also called for the decentralisation of the war against corruption if it must be won.

Telecommunication giant, MTN Nigeria has released statement over poor network coverage experiences by its customers in few days.

The telcom provider appealed to its customers to bear with them concerning the poor network as they are working hard to resolve.


In a statement sent to its customers on Tuesday, MTN said:

Dear Customer, we apologise for the difficulty you may be experiencing on our network. We are working hard to resolve it quickly. Please bear with us. Thank you”.

MTN network across board has been down for about 24 hours depending on location of its customers.

The Bauchi State Ministry of Health has confirmed the death of four patients out of the five cases of Lassa fever in Bauchi, Alkaleri and Ganjuwa Local Government Areas of the state.


The Commissioner for Health, Dr Halima Muqaddas, made the confirmation on Friday while addressing journalists in Bauchi.

“We have confirmed five cases of Lassa fever from Jan. 24 to date. Three cases from Bauchi Local Government and the three are dead.

“In Alkaleri, we had one case and the patient died while in Ganjuwa, it was only one case and the person is alive and is being treated.

“The cases were found in different local governments that we have never had a single case in previous years.

“This disease is due to the non-adherence to maintaining personal and environmental hygiene,” she said.

Muqaddas said that all suspected cases would be quarantined at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.

The commissioner directed all health facilities in the state to treat all cases with utmost caution to fast-track diagnosis of the disease.

Controversial Zimbabwean prophet, Paul Sanyangore has said he has God's direct phone number and receives calls from him on how to help his followers. Speaking to H-metro, about a video where he was seen prophesying to a church member while on the phone during his Sunday service, he said: 'I have a direct channel, actually I have his number and I can call him when need rises.
People believe that the prophet could have been on the line with someone with information on the church member, but he responded saying:

'It is possible to talk to God, why would you doubt that I got a call from him? I actually have a direct line which I can call him and get instructions on how to proceed. I got this when I was praying and I heard a voice telling me to call direct.

I got instructions on the phone on what to do or say and that is what happened on Sunday. If the heavens spoke to Abraham why not us? You are of faith and people will always have doubts while others are being delivered,' he added.

The man of God also revealed that a television channel called 'Heaven Online' will be launch soon, where more of his conversation with God will be hopefully heard.

'You will actually see more of this. We are hoping that we will be on TV this year and we actually have a session called 'Heaven Online.'

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Sunday arrested one Oruku Oluwafemi, a car dealer, for forgery in the case involving five former students of Federal University of Technology Akure and Adekunle Ajasin, Akangba (AAUA) respectively.
His arrest followed an investigation on the real owners of the cars belonging to Fasakin Adeleke Paul (21), Ogundile Ademola James Olasunkanmi (23), Abudu Adeniyi Tayo (a.k.a) Kolawole Tajudeen) (20). Others are Ifeobu Ugochukwu (21) and Olusola Franklin Akusanmi (21), after their parents approached the court for a release of the cars recovered from them at the point of arrest and stating that they bought the cars for their children. Oluwafemi who is a car dealer, after he was approached by the parents of the suspects, with intent to hide the source of the cars, forged some receipts by changing the names of the initial owners of the cars to that of their parents.
Olusola however confessed to his actions and that he was not aware that they were being prosecuted by the EFCC.

It would be recalled that suspected internet fraudsters were arraigned by the Commission on Friday January 12, 2017 before Justice Abdu-Dogo of the Federal High Court, Akure on a 53-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, possession of fraudulent documents and forgery.

The cars includes a 2006, black Toyota highlander with registration number(Lagos) LND 112 EG, 2010 light- green Toyota Camry (Muscle) registration number (Lagos) AAA 850 EF. Other items recovered from the suspects includes; laptops, three Apple iphone6 and three Blackberry phones from them. Some implicating documents were also found and downloaded from their laptops.

Paul who go about with the name Tsunami Gang and Young Pablo Money alongside his co-travelers were arrested sometimes in July 2016 following series of intelligence gather by the operatives over their fraudulent activities. The suspected internet fraudsters allegedly swindled unsuspecting foreigners and others to the tune of Sixteen million naira (N16M) by engaging in internet scams and obtaining money under false pretences.
