Goodmorning Doctor, thank you for all the goodwork you are doing in this thread. God will really bless you . I am pregnant,
Please my question is, my first child suffered jundis at birth
and I was told it was because I did not treat malaria, but then I didn't suffer malaria, so I want to know what I can do to prevent this one from having jundis too. Thank you .
A child in the womb is usually a function of the pregnant woman. This means a healthy child is a stereotype of an healthy environment the pregnant woman provides for her. Your interest should cover a vast measure on what you should do to have a healthy baby than one having the other health problems except Jaundice. I don't think you will love to have a baby with no hands or leg though he or she is no jaundiced. This means a healthy woman gives a healthy baby.

What should I do to prevent my newborn from coming up with Jaundice?

1) Check for Rh-autohypersensitivity: this will be part of your antenatal care and discourse. It is therefore necessary to get your doctor to know of your former pregnancy so as to know what to do to prevent any health condition to the present one.

2) Give optimal care to yourself during your pregnancy. Eat good food, take fruits and have good rest and be active as you can be. This also cover reporting illness or disease you may face during your being pregnant to your doctor. The role of food is very important, it is the ingredient to which the growing fetus can capitalize on to develop. A poorly fed woman during pregnancy may reduce the spurt inwhich the child in her is growing.

3) Avoid or stay away from substances or chemicals not prescribed to you by doctor.

Know this, every child at the point and time of delivery suffers a normal Jaundice. However, this jaundice shouldn't last more than 3-10days. This jaundice is normal due to immature of the liver to conjugate almost all the dead red cell in the blood. If it last above this, It means something may be wrong. A normal jaundice in a newborn should follow with a subacute clinical condition. There are likelihood that this may extend further for children born preterm.. This therefore mean, you really have to do any great for your baby not to be preterm.

The knowledge that a jaundice is normal or clinical largely depends on the clinical management. Commonly, a clinical jaundice may unfold almost natural. Some factors on your side to meet to avoid this:

1. Fetal stress: Always observe yourself during your pregnancy. Ensure that your baby in utero is kicking at least everyday. Takes fluids and let the pregnancy pass in no tough stress on your side.

2. Infection that affects the liver: Well, the best thing to do is to avoid any form infection that can affects you and the baby.

3 Rhfactor incompatibility.

Sir, I am not a magician and it will require some effect on my side to know the cause to the pain. Knowing also may be difficult for the fact that I am not doing a physical examination on him.

How severe is the pain?
Which part of the abdomen is he having the pain?
When do this pain seems to come low and high?
Does the pain come during and after eating?
Does the pain come before eating?
Is he having chest tightness?
Feeling of not breathing well?
The site of the operation, has it healed properly?
Any place of the abdomen or the body generally swollen?
Any thing to say about his urine:
Volume?
Color?
Odor?

Vomiting?
Nausea?
Diarrhea?
Hearing Tommy sounds?

What has so far use to manage this pain?

Yes, scar endometriosis.
Please can you send me an email. I tried sending, it's not working
Scar endometriosis is very rare among our black women and I guess you could observe my surprise. It usually requires a surgical intervention and a good one from an experienced O&G consultant. Why not seek help from the State University teaching hospital or even ULTH.

Is there any other thing you want us to razzle out, kindly use my signature to reach me.

Good evening blessed Nairalanders

I was beaten by serious rain and ever since I have had funny feelings. Fever increased last night. Went to the hospital and was given malaria tablets

2ndly I have had to battle serious center back pains and doctor suggested it could be muscle spasms. What exercises can I indulge in to be fine? The pain is killing
I thought I have discussed this before?

Hello doc
good day
please I need your advise
my brother had appendicitis surgery sometime around may after series of complains about stomach pain
since then all has been well and good

since Sunday , he has been complaining of stomach pain and sincerely it is giving us worries
please do you have any idea why this is happening , if so please tell me so we know what to do next
Kindly, have him placed on an appointment with a doctor for a physical checkup especially if the pain have been refractory to palliatives and coming from the region of the abdomen where the surgery was done or if at all it is diffusive by character. It may just be an infection as complication or probably something coming anew.

I do hope he kept to post-operative Dos-and-Don'ts after the removal of the vermiform appendix?

Yes.
Infact , i visited the national ear care center kaduna and was diagnosed with an infection, staph something, can't really remember. Ciproflaxin was prescribed.

About how it all started.
It happened in 2010. I was training intensively with focus on becoming a professional athlete. I had cause to visit a dentist because of jaw pains, and was diagnosed with tmj.

Then I did something stupid. Told a fellow colleague about my jaw problem and he said he knew someone who had same issue which was corrected successfully. That was how I was introduced to a local masseuse aka bone setters. The process involves massaging my spine, neck and jaw line for close to a month, thrice a week. Through out those weeks, I was still taking norflex prescribed by the dentist pending when the wires were supposed to be fixed to rectify my bite. So, foolishly, I was abusing medication and endangering my life.

After a while, I was always tired and wouldn't go 300metres without urinating and drinking half litre of water. That was when my body
system started working against me. My ear was so swollen with pus and entire back hot from the aboniki balm that was used i could hardly step out because I was so drained physical, battled with fatigue, frequent thirst, little activity leaves me in pains. Coping with day to day activities became surprisingly difficult, so I turned to sports as an avenue to be fit again, but it turned out bad because my knees frequently started getting swollen also the places where I was massaged too.

This prompted me to visit the hospital and that was when I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis.
Physical activity is a complete trigger for these symptoms
My knee and elbow joint make popping noise when I move them.

I have learnt my lesson the hard way now I know how valuable it is to follow professionals instead of quacks.
I know I can't back to how healthy I used to be but I just want to find out what I'm suffering from. A name to this lifetime of torture and hopefully, maybe glimpse of hope or pain management
Yes! From your complaint I know you might have had infection about the head and neck but my best bet was the throat since that is more among Africans.
The infection could have resulted from improper odontal management or mainly from the temporal mandibular joint syndrome. The infection became chronic leading to the problems you are facing now.

Since the TMJ is closer to the middle ear in fact in front of it, it is very easy to know why the infection had a spread to the ears. If the infection were longer enough there are likable chances that it could have ended in causing Meningitis. So, you were lucky. Along the line you may have been expose to these causative agents again or within those times of poor managment your body was trying to bring up protection as in forming antibodies only ends in the antibodies or factor assuming such capacity in destroying the joint cartilages and chopping off its synovium. This is why you are experiencing this problem.

I see both Rheumatic arthritis and osteoarthritis in union. And if you don't manage it properly, spread can go up the meninges, down heart or kidney.

What do we do now?

Diagnosis was done by physical examination and X-ray test of the knee.
I had presented myself with complaints of swollen knee [both knees], joint pain around my neck, shoulder and elbow. I saw a doc in gopd and he instructed I take an X-ray and come back after it was ready. Went on the appointed day and he said I had osteoarthritis.
The X-ray is with the hospital so I will have another done soon.
With your complaints it is right to presume that it may be Osteoarthritis. But with those ear and eye inflammation, I may need to ask some certain question and then returns back to that bone-joint degenerative condition.

How did this all begin?
Have you had any throat infection before?

Apart from the joint problem, do you have any other health problem?

Hi doctors in the house .

Pls I need a recommendations about this Rashesthat has been all over my body for more than a month now. It started from my right hand to my left hand then all over my body (arm, neck, back, lapses , stomach ). When it started I used to scratch it because I don’t what it is.

I have been using different types of anti itches eg golden bond anti-itch lotion, maximum strength hydrocortisone Ointment, cream etc.

Couple of weeks ago it used to itch me a lot and force me to scratch it.

My main issue now is that , this leaves a lot of black spots on my body and it scare, and worry me a lot because of my skin.

Last week someone recommended a soap called Blue power CARBOLIC soap. Since I have been using it , I noticed it has started drying off and peeling out something white whenever I scratch it but still itch me a lot at midnight or early morning.

I will add some few photos.

Pls what can I use to make this go away forever and what can I use for the black spots?

Thank you all.
Why haven't you gone to the clinic for proper evaluation and checkup?

i'm 33 and i look more like a 20 yr old boy. I really need to look mature. Even as a staff, i look like an IT student. Pls help
If this is all for cosmetics then you really have no problem.
First, plan a diet routine containing calorie boosting diets as such containing fats and carbohydrates. Keeping to meal time is also necessary. This does not advice you on binge eating or gluttony.

Plan time for leisure and pleasure adventure. Ensure to spare enough to relax yourself and mind from any office duties. Gaining your required body weight and size also requires adjusting your routines and the time you give to them.

Fix time for body building exercise. If you really want to look that good on that shirt, why don't you blow up the Gym center. You can meet guys whom are lurking in the same quest and learn as much as you can from those that were once in your state. However, you should avoid taking thing too extreme to avoid stress coming from exertion.

Good day Dr, I have an aunt who has been complaining of experiencing running stomach each time she eats beans. She said to me that she has tried several species of beans: white, red, small seeds and big seeds but still gets severe running stomach that doesn't stop until she takes drugs. Is this problem caused by preparation of the beans? she's not up to 40 years of age but could it be age related?

Please what can I use for back pain, I must have strained my back while passing through Badagry express road in a very uncomfortable bus
It may not be age related neither could it be something resulting from any of the body organic conditions. It may just be that it is one food she shouldn't take (perhaps in excessive quantity) with the underlining complaint as presented by you. She should have bean food prepared in other forms rather than take it as soup or fried if these were just the patterns in which she has been eating. But if this complaint is characteristic of whatever forms the bean food is prepared, then she simply need to have bean food not part of her routine food, rather take any of it forms in just a small quantity. Some persons show reaction to potash in cooking used in softening normal African bean, she may see the need to stop using it. Disposing the bean inspissated fluid of the first cooking and finishing the bean food with a new clean water may be helpful for her.

Since your backpain is coming from stress, i would advise you take a warm bath and cool off on the bed. Have some one to massage you over while you laugh your stress off. Should you find this impossible to meet, you may use any of those comfortable pain relievers such as Paracetamol to wear off the pain.
