I don't get the reason why they must drag you to their village to show-off for everything to people who really don't need to be knowing about your matters. Including when you want to marry or bury the igbo woman....no matter where her actual family is....na village straight even if everyone lives on the other side of the atlantic.

The day I realized there was something wrong with that culture, was the day I tried to "reason" with an igbo ex-fiance (and every igbo woman after that) regarding matters of applying sense to things instead of omenala/oriaku BS. That is when I knew, from first hand experience, that I was never going to deal with women from that culture ever again...neither was I interested in having them as in-laws.

I have made several threads asking why these behaviors and why they haven't adapted to the reality of the times....but I never get any logical argument back besides "culture is culture. We must follow it". To me, that is just a ret@rded way of living ones life. Independent thought is necessary.
