PoliticsAPC Chieftain, Frank Attacks Buhari Over President’s ‘hypocritical’ Reaction To by 2Ebisco(op): 7:26pm On Jul 08, 2018
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timi Frank, on Sunday described comments credited to President Muhammadu Buhari in reaction to the Supreme Court acquittal of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, as “hypocritical”.

Recall that the apex court had on Friday cleared the Senate President of all charges relating to false assets declaration.

Frank had earlier reacted to the ruling.

However, Buhari, while reacting to the ruling, stated that the country’s judicial system, no matter the challenges it faces, is truly working and no one should be allowed to undermine or break it.

But in a latest statement he personally signed and sent to DAILY POST, the former APC spokesperson said it would have been better for the President to have maintained a dignified silence than “betraying his emotion by comparing his purely political judicial antecedents to the persecution of Saraki.”

He said that Buhari should have since demonstrated his faith in the judiciary by ensuring that all persons around him that have been accused of corruption are also made to prove their innocence through the judicial process, instead of shielding them from prosecution.

The statement reads, “I find it a joke of the year and facetiously hypocritical for Mr. President to say that Saraki’s “tortuous journey” to victory at the Supreme Court is akin to his own three-time sojourn through the judicial apparatchik.

“What does Mr. President mean? Is he saying that he tacitly supported the persecution of the President of the Senate simply because he emerged as the Presiding Officer of the Senate on June 9, 2015 against the wish of a cabal in the party with his tacit support?

“To prove his new faith in the Judiciary, let the executive arraign and ensure that persons like the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. David Babacheer Lawal and the former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, to prove their innocence over the grass cutting scandal and corruption petitions from the Rivers State Government against them respectively.

“We knew from day one that the charge of alleged false asset declaration against Saraki was a political vendetta plotted to shame and pull Saraki down. We never had doubt that the judiciary would vindicate him. Our only fear was the attacks and intimidation of judicial officers, by agents of this administration to force a miscarriage of justice.

“I think the President should have been courageous enough to ask the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) – that hijacked the job of the Code of Conduct Bureau and championed the persecution of Saraki – to apologize to him.

“To equate Saraki’s unjust trial to Buhari’s episodes of legal battle to prove that he was cheated during three presidential elections is to admit guilt. It is like ‘I went through hell and I also wanted you to go through hell to know how it feels.’

“I think that this type of mindset is sadistic and un-fatherly if that was the thinking behind the statement issued on Saturday by Garba Shehu – Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.

“I think the Justices of the Supreme Court and the Chairman and members of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), deserve the commendation of all Nigerians for seeing the case for what it was, and for their courage in preventing a calamitous injustice which was about to perpetrated against an innocent man.”

PoliticsSenate President Saraki Flags Off Train 2 Of Indorama Fertiliser Plant by 2Ebisco(op): 7:15am On Jul 08, 2018
Senate President Bukola Saraki yesterday laid the foundation for the construction of the Train 2 of Indorama Eleme Fertiliser and Chemicals Limited in Rivers State even as the s Governor, Nyesom Wike declared that the $3.2billion for the development of the Fertiliser and Chemicals company has made it an investor’s destination.

Performing the flag off, Senate President Bukola Saraki said with $3.2billion invested in Rivers State by the foreign investors, it shows that Rivers people are receptive to investors.

He said: “I am congratulating the people of Rivers State for creating the right environment for this investment. I like the example that Rivers people are setting for others to follow.”

The Senate President noted that the successful production of urea in Rivers State, which is used mostly by northern farmers underscores the need for national unity.

“Urea Fertiliser products are used by farmers, especially in northern part of the country. That tells us that we must unite. We must support ourselves irrespective of party affiliation .

“Without peace, there will be no urea. For all of us in Nigeria, let’s work in the interest of our country “, he said.

The Senate President tacitly expressed his support for Wike’s second term bid declaring that he (WIKE) would be in office in 2021, when the Train two of the Fertiliser Plant would be commissioned.

Saraki said Nigeria cannot diversify the economy without developing the agricultural sector and commended the management of Indorama for supporting the growth of the Nigerian economy, promising that the National Assembly would support the growth of the plant.

In his address, Rivers State Governor, Nyesomd Wike said that Indorama has performed creditably through quality investments in the state.

He said that the Rivers State Government would sustain the creation of a peaceful environment for the protection of Indorama’s investment.

“We are beneficiaries of the dividends of Indorama Eleme Fertiliser and Petrochemicals Limited. We are happy with the management of the company,” he said.

The governor wondered why anyone would say that Rivers State is not safe for investments, when the Foreign Direct Investment by Indorama has hit $3.2billion.

“I am happy that within my time as Rivers State Governor, we commissioned the first train and the flag off of the second train for the Fertiliser Plant.

“If an investment of $3.2billion can be in Rivers State, how can anyone say that Rivers State is not safe. The Nigeria you are hearing is Rivers State”, he declared.

On the Supreme Court judgment on the Senate President, Governor Wike said that it is historic that Rivers State is the first state hosting the Senate President for an official assignment after the landmark judgment.

Managing Director of Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, Mr Maniah Mundra said the second train of the fertiliser project would produce 1.5million metric tonnes of urea fertilizer.

He said it is a replication of the first train, which also has capacity for 1.5millilon metric tonnes adding that the train would bring Indorama fertilizer production to 3million metric tones.

He said that $3.2billion has been invested by the company over the years making it the highest investment by any foreign investor in the last 25 years.

PoliticsR-APC: Why Buhari’s Associates Are Dumping Him – Junaid Mohammed by 2Ebisco(op): 8:19am On Jul 07, 2018
A Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed has revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari was losing some of his associates ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

Mohammed described President Buhari as a man who does not maintain friends.

Speaking to reporters on why Buba Galadima, a one time close associate of the President, led the Reformed All Progressives Congress out of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mohammed said Buhari was a man who hated hearing the truth about himself.

The former lawmaker said, “He wants yes men and not those who will tell him home truth, he doesn’t like people like that.

“He wants what he says no matter how nonsensical to be accepted as gospel truth.

“People who had been in politics long before him will not follow him blindly.

“Anybody who has association with him will tell you that the man has nothing to offer and when you are talking about politics and governance, you are talking about what you can offer.

“These people were not around and he didn’t look for them. He doesn’t remember anybody.”

PoliticsRitualist Den Uncovered Under Bridge Near Governors House In Lagos Island (photo by 2Ebisco(op): 11:27am On Jul 06, 2018
Security officials at the ritualist den

PoliticsHow Adamu Ciroma Made Me – Atiku by 2Ebisco(op): 10:47pm On Jul 05, 2018
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has attributed his success in life to the early contacts and mentorship he received from Mallam Adamu Ciroma, who died in Abuja on Thursday at the age of 84.

The 2019 Presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a statement by his media office in Abuja said even Ciroma’s worst enemy could not argue against his selflessness, adding that Nigeria was in desperate need of such dedicated men in order to achieve progress.

“A lot of what I have turned out to be in life today was as a result of the early contacts and mentorship that I had with Adamu Ciroma, who graciously offered me vacation job in my formative years.

“Ciroma is an astute politician, bureaucrat, technocrat and banker who served the nation selflessly.

“His honesty and patriotism were among his greatest virtues, he left behind untainted public service record for which he would always be remembered.

“DIstinguished public figures like Ciroma joined politics primarily motivated by the passion to serve rather than self-aggrandizement as has become the lot today with many elective public office holders,” he said.

Atiku while recalling his last visit to Ciroma at his sick bed in Abuja added “little did (he) know that that was going to be the last time (he) would see the man that (he) had looked up to as a mentor for several decades”.

Atiku condoled with the Ciroma family and the people and government of Yobe State even as he prayed Allah to forgive him and reward his good deeds with paradise.

RomanceSee The Reasons Why You Should Not Marry A Man With These 15 Habits!! by 2Ebisco(op): 9:05pm On Jul 05, 2018
When you are in love you can’t think of any thing other than getting married to the person you love. Marriage is the destination of love.

It doesn’t matter if you are madly in love with someone but if your man possesses these habits then it will be difficult for you both to stay in a long lasting relationship.

Some habits just aren’t good for your relationship. Keep scrolling to know about habits and find out if you should marry your man.

1. More Focused On Work:

This won’t go well after you marry him. Soon after marriage, there is a steep rise in responsibilities and if he isn’t giving time to you right now then what do you expect in the future.

2. Too Clingy

If your man is clingy do not marry him. A clingy boyfriend will eat your entire personal space and will stick around you as a gummy bear. This kind of guy won’t stick around for lifetime once he feels you want personal space.

3. Abusive, Disrespectful And Heartless.

This is a perfect sign to deny marriage. If he is a cold blooded man who often abuses you and even beats you then fly away from the relationship. Do not stick around such disrespectful person and do not even think to marry him.

4. Smoker.

Smoking isn’t cool when it comes to the health of a relationship. While he is smoking you too are passively smoking with him and that is a bad news. Ask him either to leave smoking or to leave you.

5. He Is A Narcissist.

In a Greek Mythology, Narcissus was a person who thought he was perfect and fell in love with his beauty. As he couldn’t even leave his reflection behind, he tried to snatch it and drowned in water. So if your man feels he is perfect so tell him he isn’t perfect for marriage.

6. Does Not Forgot The Old Argument.

This type of behavior isn’t good. If he is not letting go the old arguments then he isn’t worth marrying for.

7. Often Breaks Promises.

Although promises are meant to be broken but there is a limit. If someone starts playing with the emotions behind the promises you make then this isn’t good.

8. Once A Cheater.

Well, forgiveness doesn’t always work. If he has cheated once chance is he will do it again and very soon. So stay away.

9. Orthodox Mentality.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
In this advanced era, if he is still narrow-minded and believes that you shouldn’t be wearing these clothes and shouldn’t go at certain places then leave the relationship.

10. Immature And Can’t Take Decisions.

Immaturity isn’t cute when it comes to marriage. Immature guys never become good husbands as they aren’t able to take bold decisions.

11. Not Serious About The Relationship.

Why are you still into the relationship then? Run for your freedom.

12. Hates Animals.

Hating animals and brutality run side by side. The science speaks about this. So if he hates animals then chances are that he is heartless.

13. Dependent On You.

You will regret once you get married to a slacker. He won’t do anything and will be fully dependent on you. Try to encourage him to do something or leave him for your own good.

14. The Excuse Maker.

Have you noticed that your guy justifies everything? If yes then you will soon have trust issues over his excuse making skills and your relationship will drown.

15. Ignorant Towards Your Opinion And Thinking.

Sad client
He repeatedly cuts you in middle of your points, topics and even opinions. If he does that then please take precautions before it’s too late or else you will not have any voice in your own relationship.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, ACP Jimoh Moshood, has said the killing of seven officers in Abuja has shown the need for the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS).

Speaking with reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, Moshood said efforts were in place to arrest those who killed the officers in the line of duty.

PoliticsAbia Guber Wannabe, Ukauwa Shouts Out Finished Affirmed Death Endeavor by 2Ebisco(op): 10:02am On Jul 03, 2018
Chidike Ukauwa, one of the governorship competitors on the stage of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State,Tuesday, requested of the Presidency and the Inspector-General of police, Ibrahim Idris over asserted death endeavor on his life by the operators of the PDP-drove government in the state.

The appeal to dated July 2,2018 was made accessible to newsmen on Monday evening, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital and made accessible to DAILY POST on Tuesday.

Ukauwa, in the request, engaged Buhari, and the IGP to call the authorities of the Abia government to arrange as they had brought forth intend to quiet all resistance pioneers before the 2019 general decisions.

It will be reviewed that Ambassador Ukauwa had asserted how three men suspected to be enlisted professional killers trailed him along Aba street in Umuahia amid the end of the week, with the reason to hinder his vehicle and shoot him.

The APC chieftain in a meeting with newsmen, on Monday, asserted that the claimed plan to kill him by the operators of the Abia government was a result of his frankness against what he named 'terrible approaches' of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-drove organization in the state.

Then, the Abia State attention secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Wear Ubani in a quick response, portrayed Ukauwa's affirmation as a modest purposeful publicity, intended to draw in media consideration.

As indicated by him,"It is totally insignificant for him to make such an unmerited claim, to the point that PDP-drove government in the state needs to execute him.

"Perhaps he needs to utilize this miserable promulgation to convey himself to reputation. We don't have time for such political nonentities that don't exist in any political space in Abia".

PoliticsUtomi: Buhari Overthrew Shagari To Stop Ekwueme From Becoming President by 2Ebisco(op): 6:25pm On Jul 01, 2018
A political scientist and former Special Assistant to ex-President Shehu Shagari, Prof. Pat Utomi, tells Bayo Akinloye, in this interview that had Gen. Muhammadu Buhari not toppled the government of his principal through a military coup in 1983, Nigeria would have become better today. He also notes that there is more unhappiness, unemployment, poverty and despair in the country today than ever before. Excerpts:

Do you think the recognition of MKO Abiola by the federal government came a little too late?
The life of 25 years is a very short time. In the United States, people are still lobbying for people who ‘were convicted for one thing or the other’ about 200 years ago to get formal pardons. So, in the life of a nation, I think that 25 years is not a terribly long period of time. At least, people like us, who were active in the (June 12, 1993) struggle, are still around. Will it have been better if it was done 22 years ago? Sure. But I don’t think that it was bad being done eventually.

Do you find it ironical that neither President Goodluck Jonathan nor President Umaru Yar’Adua honoured Abiola but it took a dictator-turned democrat, President Muhammadu Buhari, to award the late Abiola with the GCFR?
Well, in the world of politics, nothing is a straight-line graph. The bottom line is that our country desperately needs healing right now. We desperately need the past being reconciled (with the present) so that we can move forward. There is too much pain bottled-up and this bottled-up pain is being seen often not understood in many of the so-called security challenges around the country – whether in kidnapping, insurgency, terrorism. In many ways, these are connected to many injustices of the past. This country is full of historical injustices. Somebody has to take the lead in trying to help heal those wounds, because they are preventing progress that we should be making as a country.

Do you think the honour will put a closure to many open wounds in the country?
It will start but it won’t close, because the open wounds are too many and too many people, who are closer to those problems, still bear personal animosities. Nigeria has seen all manner of things. There were much genocide you can think of in the 20th century – Nigeria experienced a significant one. I’m not talking about something far away. In the Nigerian civil war, I had experienced it first-hand. I also was one of those, who resisted the annulment of June 12. The files are still full in the court in the SSS files of attempt to kill me. I’m talking, because I survived. People like Kudirat Abiola didn’t survive – so injustices are many.

The injustice has deepened the cleavages of ethnicity and religion – personally, I don’t feel any of those. There’s a joke I keep saying to people that if people realise how small these things (ethnicity and religion) are. I’m privileged to be very close friends with both the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto and the Sultan of Sokoto. When I go to Sokoto on some occasions the sultan, the bishop and I sit on the floor eating. I just wish all the people quarrelling in Nigeria can see the three of us sitting on the floor eating and joking about everything. Then they will know they shouldn’t be quarrelling and abusing one another on the Internet. Political leaders need to show leadership in helping to heal some of these wounds.

Is it correct that the award given to Abiola and Gani Fawehinmi was to woo the South-west ahead of the 2019 presidential election?
I was not there when the decision was made. So, I don’t know what the motivation was – I’m not guessing. But it’s not a crime in politics to make such moves. I can’t speak with any authority on what the motivation was, because I wasn’t there.

Talking about 2019, you’re a member of the Nigeria Intervention Movement. Do you think this movement can wrest power from the incumbent? Who are the possible presidential candidates you are considering to contest against President Buhari?
Again, this is part of the thing with attempts to create a movement to achieve certain goals. Sometimes they get misunderstood. Sometimes they get confused. Sometimes people have different perspectives and come to the table. Let me preface a little talk about social movement in Nigeria and my involvement with social movements. I don’t think we’ll be revealing something new when we say Nigeria is a horribly governed country. It is far from its potential for some many simple reasons.

In my view, sometimes some people will say because it has had terrible, wicked, and greedy past leaders – maybe it’s true or not but I tend to think that the wickedness of such people are exaggerated. I think the biggest problem with Nigeria is that it has had leaders, who were not educated enough and wise enough to understand the consequences of their actions. I think if the people, who usually were holding a gun to Babangida’s head to annul the (June 12) election only had the broader picture of the consequence above their immediate self-interest, they’d probably act differently.

Let me start with June 12: I was principal to the founding of one of the most important movements of that time called the Concerned Professionals. It was designed to draw into the political arena people who ordinarily would say, ‘Leave these soldiers; leave these politicians. God will judge them.’ Don’t wait for God to judge them. God has given you a brain, so be active in deciding your own future. We supported NADECO.

Now, the whole idea of the Nigeria Intervention Movement was to repeat the same movement that we built up under the Concerned Professionals – that if we can attract a lot of professionals, they can then go into whatever party they want to. They can take over the existing parties and turn them around – If they think it’s not working they can create another party. The NIM as I understood it was not designed to be a political party. It’s a force designed to create capacity to take over an existing party or create a new one.

A former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade, said the security architecture of Nigeria must be changed. What do you think?
I believe that and looking at the security architecture in Nigeria one important thing to bear in mind is the state of the economy. The more we have unemployed people and the more we have bad or poor education – as most people are certificated but they’re basically illiterate – the easier it is for people, who have grievances to recruit people and brainwash them to become agents of disruption of normal order.

The general state of anomie that seems to be overtaking us in Nigeria, for me, significantly is economy. Therefore, the beginning of thinking insecurity is thinking a developmental state that aims to create a full employment economy – people who are educated enough in civic matters to resist those who seek to use them to abuse the state. Of course, there are other aspects of the security architecture that need to be reviewed. Of course, Gen. Alani Akinrinade is one of the most outstanding officers of the Nigerian Army and still alive. He knows what he’s talking about. So, we need to listen to people like him.

Only six states – all from the South-west – out of the nation’s 36 declared June 12 a public holiday. Does that bother you?
I think there’s a matter of how people try to draw emphasis to things that are unnecessary and unfortunately, Nigeria has got into this very sad ethnic arithmetic in which things are interpreted in ethnic ways. I often repeat a statement that came from the World War II by Reverend Martin Niemoller, who said, ‘First they came for the Jews and I said these Jews are too troublesome anyway. Then they came for the communists and I said well thank God I’m not a communist. Then they came for the Catholics and I said at least I’m a protestant and finally they came for me but there was no one else to speak up.’

Why do you think the 30 other states didn’t celebrate June 12?
I just think it’s because they consider it as something that is too politically problematic. ‘Let just leave it. The day that the South-west succeeds then we would join them.’

Some are worried about Buhari’s possible second coming, citing his poor health records as president. Do you really think that should be a cause for concern?
In recent times, many of us have been talking about restructuring and all of that. One of the things I said to myself is that I want to become a village man. I want to focus on local issues and leave Abuja alone – let Abuja take care of itself. By the time I fix my village maybe I can then find out what’s happening in Abuja. Besides, I’m not a doctor; I can’t tell who is well or who is not well.

Some have suggested that there should be an independent team of medical doctors to test the fitness of presidential candidates before contesting in the 2019 poll. Do you agree?
You can’t single one person out. If you’re going to test the fitness of all the public office holders then we should test the fitness of every aspirant in any position.

This time round one would have thought that you would also throw your hat in the ring to contest the presidential poll. Why are you not contesting?
When I turned 60 two years ago, I wanted to retire completely. I said I had reached what should be called a retirement age and I was told that the academic age (of retirement) is 70. I’m more interested in serving Nigeria from the edge, where it stands than on a position or a title. One of the things that I focus on a great deal is the concept of the leader, who has no title. If I could find a way of making a difference without holding a position, I’ll be happier. There’s an obsession in this country with titles and positions. I want to make a difference.

There have been accusations that Buhari’s war against corruption is largely being waged against individuals in the opposition party. People say the anti-corruption war is not transparent. What more do you think the government can do to show sincerity and transparency?
I’ll just give the same answer I gave when they accused Obasanjo of the same thing that Ribadu was attacking his opponents – going after his opponents. I said: ‘Okay, it’s good. At least you people did something. Whether you’re the man’s friend or enemy let them go after you. If they finish catching his enemies then he can get to his friends.’ I think that people will always say something. Let’s deal with corruption; it doesn’t matter who it is.

Besides, catching people is important now that two governors are in jail. My prayer is that before the end of this year, we should have at least ten governors in jail. Why is it important for them to go to jail? Not that I want them to suffer – many of them are my friends, very good friends for that matter – but because I want us to learn a lesson that will be a deterrence in the future. But more importantly, my preferred approach is an approach that makes it more difficult to be corrupt than the one that catches those who have been corrupt.

The APC is battling to have a common front going into 2019 elections. Do you see the party failing next year?
It’s not a fair question to ask me, because I’m a member of the APC. So, what will I say that would be fair? Perhaps, I should not say anything.

Buhari has often been accused of nepotism and condoning corrupt practices of people in his government like Babachir Lawal. What is your thought on that?
I’m assuming the investigations are going on and when there is enough information, some actions will be taken. As a matter of principle, I would think that it’s important to clear that there are no secret sacred cows. In fact, people around you should be the first to be held accountable, because it points straight at you if you don’t hold them accountable. I would hope that such philosophy is borne in mind. But people should not also be persecuted just because they are close (to the government). There should be some kind of balance in these matters.

Killings in the North-Central have continued unabated. What do you think is responsible? How can these be stopped?
You know again that part of the problem that I have with the limitation of the public sphere in the market place of idea in Nigeria is that it has been reduced to a certain level of mediocrity that quality conversation is absent today in Nigeria. The issues in the North-Central are deep and complex. But they have been treated as Islamisation. First of all, the herdsmen-farmers clashes are part of a major sociological challenge in a transition society, transiting from an agrarian society towards an industrial society.

Fifty years ago, the herdsmen were principally entrepreneurs; they own their cattle and the land tenure system was different. But they were able to reach some kind of accommodation with the farmers. They were generally allowed in certain corridors, where crops were not planted. They didn’t bother farmers too much. But with time, our society became increasingly urbanised, the corridors. We do not do enough as a society to move into a ranch economy.

More than 30 years ago, we should have been there. Again, one of the failures of this country is failure in economic planning with continuity. As for back as the 1950s, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was setting up ranches especially a huge one in northern Ondo that has been disused for some time now. If we had continued with ranches at that time and if the railway system had not collapsed and we could have had a system in Yobe State or Jigawa processing meat put in cold storage in trains would get to Lagos within a day, the people would get their meat easily.

The second part of this sociological challenge is that these herdsmen are entrepreneurs 50 years ago, because you’ll see the cattle belonged to them. But today those cattle we see around probably belong to people in the National Assembly, some governors – even some southerners, who have invested in that business. The herdsmen basically are now labourers with no stake. They are, in fact, going through a transition crisis and there’s no brain to discuss the issue as it is and the simple answer is Islamisation.

Politicians have been accused of fueling the herdsmen-farmers violent conflict. What is your take on that?
The politics of Nigeria is very simple, because most of the politicians have nothing to offer. Therefore, they look for something that creates a cleavage that they can then use a fake or mere sentiment to attract us. So, the failure of the political class is what leads to problems of these cleavages in our society.

You were a special assistant to former President Shehu Shagari. What was the experience like? And how do you feel that the dictator now turned democrat, who toppled that government is ruling now?

First thing about my experience is that I learnt very early. I was 27 years old at the time. But I didn’t get appointed, because I was somebody’s son or uncle. At that age, I had two master’s degrees and a PhD. Therefore, I was coming to the table with something. Not only the degrees I had but I had served in the US as an intern in the US Congress. I knew how the American system worked and that was what I was bringing to the table.
Obviously, I dealt with frustration of the system and I kept talking about the permanent secretary that worked with me – every day I’d not sleep at night working on what we could change in the system to make it work for the Nigerian people. Once I began to talk to the PS, he’d say: ‘you know if you do this you’ll step on the toe of the minister of that.’ One day, I said to him: ‘Mr. PS is there anything that’s possible to do?’ My point is one of the great lessons from my experience was a decision that I made then that I’d never go back into public life without critical enough mass to make a difference.

This was the reason when President Yar’Adua asked me to join his cabinet and I told him I couldn’t give him advice, because but I didn’t want to be a token. To his credit, President Yar’Adua said to me that I’d make a greater difference inside than from outside and I said okay find seven good people and I’d be pleased to be the eighth and then he threw it back at me and said I should find the seven good people and come with them. Unfortunately, he didn’t live long enough. The view I hold about what we’ve been through the years can be found in an interview I gave to the New York Times, January 8, 1984.

In that interview I said Nigeria would one day feel sorry that they had thrown the baby out with the bath water (as many rejoiced over the coup led by Gen. Buhari that ousted the government of Shagari). I think any living Nigerian with brain will know that Nigeria would have moved further ahead today if that coup didn’t take place on December 31, 1983, although – in my view – I was convinced that the coup was done to prevent Dr. Alex Ekwueme from becoming the president in 1987.

Has Buhari made the country more divided or united than he met it?
I think we have been polarised as a country and it is much worse today clearly – whether somebody caused it or not, the bottom line is that the country is more polarised today. It’s important to begin the healing process, which is why I embraced the June 12 honours – it’s a good process.

What areas do you think the present administration should improve on?
Every government everywhere can improve on some areas, because life is work-in-progress – but very importantly, the economy. There’s despair in the land. There’s such a level of unemployment, unhappiness and poverty in the country. I think normal economic policy is not enough anymore.

PoliticsNNPC Speaks On Crude Oil Found In Niger by 2Ebisco(op): 10:52am On Jul 01, 2018
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has denied reports making the rounds across the country that commercial quantities of crude oil have been discovered in the Bida Basins, Niger State.

Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru, described the report as false and alarming.

Baru made this declaration during his visit to the Ibrahim Badamasi University, Lapai, (IBBUL), Niger State, on Saturday.

He said the Corporation was still analysing the Basin to determine if the hydrocarbons had been generated.

According to Baru, “There are ten stages of activities that lead to the discovery of oil and gas and the Bida Basin exploration is in the fourth stage which is determining if hydrocarbon have been generated in the Basin.

“For now, the Bida Basin exploration has not advanced to the level of declaring discoveries talk less of claiming that the oil and gas present is in commercial quantities.

“The success of the ongoing exploration in the inland Basins will be of great benefits and would usher in a new dawn, in terms of generating higher income and thereby leading to accelerated development across all sectors of the country.”

PoliticsPlateau Killings: Buhari Govt Not Serious, Only Makes Noise And Goes To Sleep – by 2Ebisco(op): 11:14am On Jun 30, 2018
Tanko Yakassai, a Third Republic Presidential Adviser and Northern Elder, has advised the Federal Government and security agencies on what to do to Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, if they own up to the killings in Plateau State.

Yakassai said government and security agencies, “should get serious and investigate” MACBAN if they own up to the killings.

Speaking with Vanguard, the Northern elder said the killings in Plateau was religious and ethnic, not political.

Giving reasons for his claim, the former Presidential aide said people of Plateau were not comfortable with Fulani settlers.

According to Yakassai, “The killings are largely non-political. They are ethnic and religious because the indigenous people of Plateau are non-Fulani and non-Muslim. So, there have been problems for a long time between the indigenous people and Fulani settlers. The native people are not comfortable with settler Fulani and others who came because of mining activities. The indigenous settlers are not traders. That is why there are so many people, all from different backgrounds.

“The indigenous are the originators of the whole thing. They see non-indigenes as foreigners and therefore, not entitled to own land or anything. The Fulani are originally from the Middle-East. They are from Yemen and other Middle-East countries. Most northerners are basically from Middle-East and they came because of mining and other business activities. The indigenes are not comfortable with that.

“The killings did not start today. They have been going on for a number of years. It is not a new thing and initially had nothing to do with Miyetti Allah. Miyetti Allah is a new creation in the whole thing. It’s an association of cattle-rearers. They are protecting the interest of fellow Fulani, their right to trade, to settle and their right to do business.

“But the government is not taking action concerning the killings and so it continues to happen. It is the fault of government and security agencies. Miyetti Allah is part of the Fulani settlers and the Fulani are everywhere in Africa. They know the bush paths and they are the highest diaspora in West Africa. They can come from Burkina Faso, Yemen or anywhere, commit a crime and slip away without a trace.

“It is the problem of the FG and security agencies to tackle these issues and show how to overcome them. I don’t like the fire-brigade attitude of the government to these issues. Whenever the killings happen, they make noise and everything dies down until it happens again. That is not the way to solve the problem.

“If Miyetti Allah said they did it, government and security agencies know what to do. They should get serious and investigate the problem in order to solve it.”

Business500 Percent Tariff On Alcohol, Tobacco Will Be Reviewed – FG by 2Ebisco(op): 4:09pm On Jun 29, 2018
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has stated that the Federal Government will review the newly introduced 500 percent excise duty on alcoholic beverages.
The Director of Press, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Samuel Olowokere, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

The minister was quoted to have made the comment when members of the National Union of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Joint Employers and Workers Association visited him in his office.

Ngige said, “This will save the sector from imminent collapse and forestall the consequent loss of about two hundred thousand jobs.

“You have written to the federal government through me that the increase in excise duty on alcohol and beverages will create job losses.

“Because once you add a new cost and pass it on, there will be consumer resistance, resulting in low patronage. Whereas the products coming from overseas that are being smuggled in which are cheap, will take over the market. It is a statement of fact.

“I have passed your complaints and luckily we have a listening President who wants the good of all Nigerians. The President will definitely ask the minister of finance and the economic management team to review the tariff.”

The minister pointed out that Nigeria cannot afford to create poverty and job losses while promoting abundant jobs in other countries.

He, however, said that job losses are not part of the present administration and would not support the 500 percent tariff increase.

Ngige said the economic and recovery growth plan, EGRP, of the federal government was partly tailored towards job creation rather than losses.

He said the cardinal place job creation and protection occupy informed the administration’s fidelity to non-declaration of redundancy in the federal ministries and agencies, hence no retrenchment of workers.

“This is not to say that we do not know that in some places available jobs have more than available staff members to match them but this is a compassionate administration,” he said.

“The President does not want to throw many families into anguish. The President always said that he was a salary earner in all his working life.

“You can also see that we did not place an embargo on recruitment as we used to have years ago even while we were under recession.

“The federal government has been replacing staff members who exited as well as creating new jobs in the public sector. But this has to be complemented with the private sector jobs to have a full blend,” Ngige said.

PoliticsHerdsmen Killings: Miyetti Allah Speaks On Being Terrorist Organization by 2Ebisco(op): 9:18pm On Jun 28, 2018
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has refuted claims of condoning killings carried out by herdsmen across the country.

Speaking on Channels Television, the association’s National Secretary, Usman Baba-Ngelzarma insisted that MACBAN was not a terrorist organization.

Baba-Ngelzarma maintained that MACBAN was a legitimate association with branches all over Nigeria.

Baba-Ngelzarma said a lot of people confuse the association with other pastoralist groups, most notably the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Association of Nigeria.

He noted that the association does not speak for all Fulani pastoralists as some of them belonged to other groups.

According to Baba-Ngelzarma, MACBAN commands a lot of respect from Northern traditional rulers.

He said, “Most of the people out there don’t distinguish between the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Association of Nigeria – they are two different registered association.

“I think the Corporate Affairs (Commission) should please do something about these two associations; they should differentiate between these two associations.

“This one that I serve (MACBAN) has been in existence for almost 30 years to be precise. It was registered on the 12th of February, 1986, not as a political or violent association.

“That is why, today, we have respected northern traditional rulers as chairmen and board of trustees of this association.

“Another clarification – let the whole world know that Miyetti Allah is not the only pastoralist association in Nigeria. There are a lot of other pastoralist association in Nigeria; so not all Fulanis are members of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association. We have our members, Kautal Hore have their members and some other associations too have their members. We don’t speak for the entire pastoralist.

“We are never a terrorist organisation. In fact, that is why we have headquarters in Abuja and have offices in all the 36 states of the federation, including FCT. In fact, that is why we have elected representatives in all the local governments of the federation today.”

PoliticsBiafra: Onwuka’s Trial Stalled, Zionists Kick by 2Ebisco(op): 10:26am On Jun 28, 2018
Members of the Biafra Zionists Federation, BZF, on Wednesday, expressed anger over the continuous incarceration of their leader, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka and 19 others in prison custody.

This followed the failure to produce them in court for continuation of their trial.

It could be recalled that Onwuka was earlier docked alongside 19 other members of the group following their arrest at the Enugu Government House gate on May 30.

They were arraigned before senior magistrate, J.O Umezulike, of Enugu East Magistrate Court, in charge number CME/285C/2018.

Although the case was adjourned till today, Wednesday for advice from the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP, the accused persons were not produced in court.

Deputy Leader of the group, Mazi Ambrose Ugwu, who spoke to journalists at the court premises, said they were disappointed over the development.

“We came here today with the expectation that our leader and the other people being detained with him will be produced in court to be discharged but that was not to be.

“What have they done to warrant their detention? Our demand remains that they should be freed having committed no offence. They were not armed, neither did they kill anybody to warrant this incarceration.

“All we are demanding is freedom, it is within the provisions of all international laws and conventions.

“So, we are calling on the government to order their immediate release.

“They should go after killer herdsmen and leave innocent Biafra agitators alone,” Ugwu said.

Lawyer to the Biafra agitators, Barr. Harrison Okakpu, when approached by journalists, said it was too early for him to speak on the matter.

PoliticsAfenifere Warns South-west Governors Over Fg’s Cattle Ranching by 2Ebisco(op): 12:39pm On Jun 27, 2018
The pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere has warned South-West state governors against ceding any land in the geopolitical zone for cattle ranching as proposed by the Federal Government.

Afenifere handed this warning during its monthly meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Tuesday.

In a communique issued by its spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, the organisation warned governors from the region against using public funds to sponsor ranches across the country.

Afenifere also criticised President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent submission on restructuring.

The communique read in part, “The call for restructuring is a selfless call borne out of the need to retrieve Nigeria from the brink of collapse and put It back on track.

“If the President talks about people with personal agenda on restructuring, it can only be those who insert it in their manifestos to win elections and turn around to say they are getting different definitions of restructuring after they came to power.

“We insist that for the country to move forward and develop, it has to be restructured into a proper federation.”

The group, while kicking against using public funds for ranches across the country, said its meeting “rejects the idea of public funded ranches which is an imperialist agenda of cresting Federal Cattle Territories across Nigeria.”

PoliticsPlateau Killings: What God Should Do For ‘oppressed’ Nigerians – Dino Melaye by 2Ebisco(op): 12:21pm On Jun 27, 2018
Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, has lamented the continued killings across the country.

Melaye called on God to fight for the harmless and oppressed who he said are being killed on a daily basis.

This is coming at a time some suspected herdsmen killed 86 persons during an attack on Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, over the weekend.

Reacting to the killings, Melaye said God should arise in his “sour displeasure and plead our course”.

He wrote: “I’m so sad about the killings in Nigeria that I’m not excited about the football match today.

“God of all creation arise and fight for the harmless and oppressed Nigerians dying every day. Oh Lord, I beseech thee. Arise in your sour displeasure and plead our course our God.”

PoliticsOhanaeze Warns FG Against Using Public Funds To Build Ranches by 2Ebisco(op): 7:26pm On Jun 26, 2018
Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Anambra state, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, has cautioned the Federal Government against using public funds to establish the proposed ranches for herdsmen.

He said the idea was against the law and would only aggravate tension and agitations across the country.

Speaking to newsmen in Awka, Okeke-Ogene maintained that any attempt to encroach on people’s land, particularly in the South-East would be resisted and might also lead to break down of law and order.

“Cattle rearing is a private venture that should be sponsored with private resources by individuals who engage in the business just like farmers, traders, industrialists and other entrepreneurs who use their personal funds to run their businesses.

“The federal government cannot seek land for ranches under the provision of Land Use Act as it does not fall within the stipulated over riding public interest.”

The Ohanaeze president suggested the use of Sambisa forest and other similar areas for cattle rearing to help dislodge insurgents and terrorists from the areas permanently.

While calling on South-East Governors to key into Governor Willie Obiano’s drive to protect and promote the Igbo agenda, Okeke-Ogene urged state houses of assembly in the region to remain resolute in their decision to reject the establishment of ranches.

PoliticsInsecurity: Buhari Orders Massive Transfer Of Police In Zamfara by 2Ebisco(op): 9:50pm On Jun 25, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered massive transfer of police personnel in Zamfara Sstate as part of deliberate measures to address cases of armed banditry in the state.

The President disclosed this when a delegation of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria visited him at the State House, Abuja, on Monday.

President Buhari was reacting to the violent conflicts in some parts of the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Zamfara State has been battling cattle rustling and kidnapping in recent months.

Armed bandits and cattle thieves have been terrorizing villages in the state in the past months with many innocent citizens killed and villages burnt or destroyed.

NAN reports that worried by persistent killings, Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara State had on June 15 said he had dropped his responsibility as Chief Security Officer of the state as he had no control over security machinery in the state.

Yari said that his decision was occasioned by the seeming helplessness of his administration and the people to check the persistent killings in the state.

He, therefore, frowned at the prevailing situation in the state where as the chief security officer of the state he could not take decisions on strategies for protecting the state and its people, and had it implemented.

However, President Buhari told the Shari’ah delegation that he was putting in his best to address all security challenges in Zamfara and other parts of the country.

He said that following his dissatisfaction with the performance of the Police in Zamfara State, he ordered a massive transfer of officers and men who had stayed three years and above in the troubled State.

The President also revealed that he had received a “stiff bill” from the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, for the restoration of the dilapidated infrastructure and facilities of the Federal Government-owned radio stations in all states of the federation.

He pledged that something would be done about the situation.

Spokesman of the delegation and the Vice-President of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, Sheikh Hadiyyatullahi Abdulrashid, had commended President Buhari for his efforts toward uplifting the quality of life of all Nigerians.

He, however, appealed to the President to address the pathetic state of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Kaduna.

PoliticsDon’t Deceive Nigerians By Changing Your Slogan To ‘progress’ – PDP Tells APC by 2Ebisco(op): 11:15pm On Jun 24, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sunday told the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to perish the thought of deceiving Nigerians by changing their slogan from ‘CHANGE’ to ‘PROGRESS’.

The PDP described such thought as a direct insult on the intelligence of Nigerians and the worst form of deceit from a “failed” political party that had brought nothing but hunger, afflictions and daily bloodletting to the nation.
PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbindinyan said this in a statement released to newsmen in Abuja.

In his words, “How can the APC think that by changing its slogan, Nigerians will suddenly forget that in the last three years of its administration, the nation has not witnessed the CHANGE it promised and that all the campaign promises upon which they rode to power have all turned out to be lies?

“Whereas under the APC misrule all aspects of our national life have witnessed unprecedented deterioration, its leaders are busy thinking of how to beguile Nigerians with a change of slogan instead of preparing their handover notes.

“It is a notorious fact that the APC has nothing to progress with unless they mean the perpetuation of their misrule, violation of human rights, de-marketing of our nation, wrecking of our economy, increased unemployment, instigating of disunity among the people as well as the acute hunger and poverty for which they have become synonymous.

“It is imperative to inform these APC leaders that the solution to the problems they have unleashed on our nation today does not lie in sloganeering.

“Rather, our nation requires a new leadership of qualitative Nigerians endowed with indepth knowledge in the areas of economy, security and good governance.

“We therefore urge Nigerians to shun this contrivance of another deceptive lexicon aimed to once again beguile our people, now that election is around the corner.”

PoliticsAbaribe Can’t Produce Nnamdu Kanu – Biafra Group Tells Buhari by 2Ebisco(op): 9:38pm On Jun 23, 2018
Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has reacted to the arrest of Abia Senator, Eyinnaya Abaribe, by the Department of State Services, DSS.

The leader of BNYL, Princewill Richard, in a statement sent to DAILY POST, claimed that Abaribe was arrested due to his failure to produce the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

He, however, stressed that the embattled Senator lacks the capacity to produce the elusive IPOB leader.

According to Richard, “Although, it has not been disclosed why the DSS arrested him, we cannot claim that we don’t know it was because of his involvement in the release Mr Nnamdi Kanu from prison being a surety.

“But what the Buhari government failed to know and do not care to know is that the embattled Senator does not have the capacity to produce Kanu or determine his whereabouts, the Chief of Army Staff have questions to answer over the illegal invasion of Umuahia, Kanu’s home and his disappearance.

“The President himself is not above the law, there are countries that their laws permit arrests of incumbent Presidents.

“People can see why we are demanding for Biafra. Nigeria does not allow opposition which is part of democracy, this is a big blow to the Igbo people and entire Biafra populace and we won’t tolerate it “.

Politics2019: Remain In Abuja, You’ll Be Stoned – Okorocha Warns Udenwa by 2Ebisco(op): 12:52pm On Jun 23, 2018
Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha has told former governor of the state, Chief Achike Udenwa to remain in Abuja because Imo people will stone him if he enters the state.

The governor said Udenwa was a failure who achieved nothing after eight years as governor of the state.

Okorocha was reacting to an interview where Udenwa described Okorocha as a colossal failure whose projects in the state were usually cosmetic and often collapsed before completion.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha said Udenwa was a broke politician seeking attention.

He said, “Udenwa ruled Imo State for eight good years; let him come and show Imo people what he did for them those years. It is not enough to criticise; the facts are there.

“In the case of Okorocha, he has been in office for barely seven years and has over 1000 projects and still counting. Anybody who comes to Imo will see that he has changed the face of the state.

“Okorocha is a grassroots man and Imo people like him because they know he has their interests at heart. Most of his investments even before he became the governor are in Imo State.

“If you come to Imo State and criticise Okorocha, the masses will stone you. It is only the elite in Imo State that are not happy with him and we all know why. Udenwa who is talking, live in Abuja and does not even know what is happening in Imo State.

“If he comes to Imo State, he cannot criticise Okorocha because the people will come after him.

“You could not have governed Imo for eight years with nothing to show and you are criticising Okorocha whose projects have transformed the state and even a blind man can see them.”

PoliticsNCEF Faults Award Given To Abiola, Fawehinmi, Kingibe by 2Ebisco(op): 5:41am On Jun 23, 2018
• Warns Against Purported Attempt To Arrest Obasanjo, Danjuma
The National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) has faulted the 2018 posthumous National honors award given to the Late Moshood Abiola, Gani Fawehinmi and the National Honors Award bestowed on Babagana Kingibe, describing it as an illegal and unconstitutional action.

The group further warned that any plan to arrest former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Theophilous Danjuma or Yakubu Gowon would amount to arrest of all Christian leaders in the country.

Briefing journalists yesterday in Abuja, Chairman of the Forum, Solomon Asemota, alleged that the award was merely an excuse to grant honors to a group of Muslims and to placate the Yorubas in preparation for 2019 general elections.

He said it is very disturbing that the true champion of June 12, Humphrey Nwosu who conducted the freest and fairest elections in the history of Nigeria was not considered worthy of inclusion in the 2018 National Honors adding that Nwosu wasn’t honoured because he is a Christian. “We are disturbed because all those granted the National honors including Baba Gana Kingibe are all Muslims. Not only is the impression being created that Muslims in Nigeria are in the forefront of championing democracy in the country but the awards further confirm the religious insensitivity and discrimination of President Buhari in a multi-cultural and multi-religious society”

Asemota claimed that the group observed that from events unfolding in the country that a president who was elected into power on the platform of democracy is using the Democratic office to promote Jihad.

He added that the religious exclusivity of the 2018 National Honors might also be one of the reasons it did not pass through the proper legal channels.

He said, “With respect to General Obasanjo, we believe him when he said recently that his life is under threat because Islam does not accept opposition and stealth jihad will be programmed to shut up Obasanjo temporarily or permanently”.

“We therefore urge Christians and all Nigerians of goodwill to continue to defend themselves against all forms of jihad. Danjuma was recently halted on his way out of the country and Christians must all be vigilant,” he added.

CelebritiesYvonne Jegede To Paschal Atuma: Name The Prostitutes In Nollywood by 2Ebisco(op): 7:20pm On Jun 22, 2018
Actress, Yvonne Jegede Fawole, has joined her colleagues to slam Nollywood producer, Francis Paschal Atuma, over his statement that successful Nollywood actors are prostitutes.

Atuma earlier claimed that only those who are prostitutes make it in Nollywood as the industry is controlled by pimps.

Reacting on her Instagram page, Yvonne challenged Atuma to an interview addressing the issue and mentioning of names.

She noted that Atuma owes actors an apology for the allegation.

She wrote: “I have a degree in minding my business online but this one I have to address but Mr @pascalatuma I believe personally you owe Nollywood producers, actresses and actors an apology for this statement for so many reasons because you don’t know all of them in the industry personally to know how they survive.

“You are my FRIEND and that makes me even more offended by this statement. If there are producers, actresses or “actors” you are referring to I will appreciate you MAN UP and mention their names in your interviews rather than generalizing everyone of us.

“This is an insult to everyone who has and is still working hard to make the industry better. If you are ready for a debate, I will personally pay you to pay for the interview on national tv, that a lot and I mean a large number of us are not prostitutes.

“In every sector (not just entertainment) we have the good; the bad and the ugly (even in advanced countries such as America And Canada where you reside).

“Nollywood has provided for so many families three square meals and helped parents send their children to schools and with due respect not a shit hole you can just spit on like this.

“I repeat if you have the names you have slept with, Biko mention their names and allow us to drink our “GARRI” in peace. We are not all Prostitutes. Count me Out.”

Politics2018 Budget: South East Senators ‘shocked’ Over Reduced Allocation For Enugu Air by 2Ebisco(op): 10:56pm On Jun 21, 2018
The South East Senate Caucus has expressed shock over reported cut in the 2018 budget allocation for the Enugu Airport Terminal.

The Chairman of the caucus, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, and lawmakers from the region said they learnt
that an allocation of N2 billion sustained by the two aviation committees of the Senate and House of Representatives, were said to have been slashed to N500 million.

He said that the caucus had summoned an emergency meeting of South East lawmakers to unravel when the cut was effected and by who.

He added that “no right thinking Igbo man would support any cut on allocation for projects in the South East region.”

Abaribe, who said that the budget documents were verifiable, noted that “we are committed and determined to find out who made the cut.”

He said that the caucus actually lobbied for the Enugu Airport Terminal allocation to be increased
to N3.5 billion until the Ministry of Aviation told members of the caucus that what they had was an envelope which could not be increased beyond the N2 billion allocation.

Abaribe, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, noted that N30 billion was smuggled into the power budget without his committee’s knowledge.

He said that the N30 billion was listed for expansion and re-enforcement of infrastructure in the distribution companies to reduce stranded firms.

He added that “the amount never passed through the Senate Power committee.

“Where did such huge sum of N30 billion come from.

“Let the budget office and other relevant bodies conduct self examination. Such self examination will go a long way to clear gray areas.”

He explained that “in the case of the Enugu Airport Terminal and the Second Niger Bridge, we want to find out at what point the cut was made.”

CelebritiesJohnny Drille Covers Latest Issue Of Mystreetz Magazine by 2Ebisco(op): 4:44pm On Jun 21, 2018
Mavin Records artist Johnny Drilleis the cover star for the latest issue of MyStreetz magazine.

Sesan Adeniji, the publisher of the magazine in his note said;

Out there in the music industry, there’s a false narrative used to describe what today’s successful song and great artistes should sound like. This unsubstantiated hypothesis driven by folks who only see trendy-pop like dance music as the only yardstick to portray successful artistic delivery, is the catalyst being used to deprive an array of overwhelming quality music content radio airplay and cast shadows on artistes that churn out these materials. In the midst of this abnormality, artistes like Johnny Drille grouped under alternative music continue to thrive despite his journey with his music genre on a road less travelled.

Not too long ago, some unique groups of artistes that radio left for dead created a subconscious movement with the hashtag #f*cktheradio. It was an eye opener. Until we all step outside of our sentimental music confines, and witness the fan base controlled by our alternative artistes, until then, we cannot fully have a grasp of the happenings in different terrains in the Nigerian music industry.

PoliticsMan Kills Mother After Impregnating Cousin (SEE PHOTOS) by 2Ebisco(op): 8:37pm On Jun 20, 2018
A 25-year-old man identified as Agaezichi Ogbonna from Akpaa Mbato village in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State has reportedly killed his 52-year-old mother after allegedly impregnating his cousin.

Southern City News learnt on Tuesday that following the development, angry youths in Akpaa Mbato village descended on Ogbonna, but for the timely intervention of the soldiers attached to a nearby checkpoint, the suspect would have been lynched.

An anonymous source disclosed that Ogbonna, who is said to be the last son of his mother, was allegedly accused of having sexual affairs with sisters of the same parents at his maternal home.

He was said to have impregnated one of them in the process, an act which the villagers, said was a taboo in their community and Igbo land in general.

It was learnt that defiant Ogbonna was said to have ignored the warning of the community to continue sleeping with one of the sisters whose name was simply identified as Ugochi, which did not go down well with his sick mother.

The source said

, “Ogbonna’s mother who was managing her high blood pressure condition angered by the son’s action and the negative effect his abominable act would bring to the family, decided to raise the alarm after she noticed that her son was sleeping with Ugochi.

“In the heat of an argument with the mother, Ogbonna kicked her on her ribs which aggravated her health condition. She was said to have collapsed and died shortly afterwards when some members of the family who came to her rescue tried to stabilise her.”

A member of the community, who also pleaded anonymity, said that on seeing that the mother had died, Ogbonna tried to run away, but was prevented.

The source said when the news filtered into the community; the youths stormed their compound and took Ogbonna to unknown destination.

The family source said the youths after beating Ogbonna to a pulp was on the verge of setting him ablaze when soldiers, who were alerted, rescued him from the villagers who had already hung tyre on his neck and about to pour fuel on him.

A soldier at the Akpaa Mbato Army checkpoint said they mobilised to the scene to save the suspect from jungle justice when they were alerted to the action the youths of the community were about to take.

PoliticsEkiti Guber: Fayemi Speaks On ‘killing’ Police Officer (MUST READ) by 2Ebisco(op): 8:53am On Jun 20, 2018
The campaign organisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ekiti election, Kayode Fayemi, has reacted to reports purporting that the former Minster’s convoy killed a police officer in Ado-Ekiti.

Wole Olujobi, Director, Media and Publicity, in a statement Tuesday night said there was no iota of truth in the claim.

“Since we were sure that nothing like that happened, we took the pains to find out the veracity of the report and our search for truth yielded a mindless attempt by mischief-makers to blame an innocent man for the offence he did not commit just because of desperation to paint him black for electoral advantage”, he said.

“Our investigation confirmed that no accident connected with Dr Fayemi’s convoy happened during the rally.

“Officers at SIB Department of the State Police Command confirmed that the affected officer was knocked down by a boy who was driving his father’s car at a high speed and in the process hit the officer.

“The vehicle that knocked down the officer has since been impounded at MTD, a road accident section of the State Police Command located at Okesa.

“It is unfortunate that those who claim to be journalists working for Fayose do not have any idea about what journalism is all about.

“It is also regrettable that practising journalists who know their onions allow quacks to put the integrity of their profession at risk,” he said.
