Christianity Etc › Re: Religious Leaders Are The Real ENEMIES Of Nigeria. by 2mch(m): 3:36pm On Jun 13, 2012
I strongly believe this. They are the originators and facilitators of corruption in Nigeria. They feed on the fact that Nigerians are very religious. And they dubiously program them to be dependent on them. I mean some Nigerians cannot shite without pastors permission. Still Nigeria is a very big mess. Nigerian pastors, imams, even babalawo. They need to come together and have a reorientation. It is really bad. They will collect money from anyone and bless even a killer. lipsrsealed undecided

The fact remains that she was scammed by her own sister. I dont believe in letting scammers get away. This is why they (scammers) have been able to succeed in Nigeria. People just let the money go. Besides, who says the husband can afford to lose the money? Simply take the sister to court and get your money back. If they claim they dont have the money, ask the judge to pass judgement on one of their personal assets you know about. House, car etc. They will have to sign off ownership to you, which you will sell the property to reclaim your money. simples. cool. Scammers dey suffer for my hand. When i work hard for my money, you cannot steal from me and go free. Even if i steal the money gan sef. undecided

maclatunji: Unless this story has been doctored. This is not debrief's ex-husband although the stories are similar. Debrief had a child with her ex, OP here doesn't have children. OP, sorry O. Like you have said, young men should be responsible, not for anybody else but themselves.

May God cure you of your ailment.
Wrong, Debrief story states she never was able to get pregnant with her ex, who was the problem. But she was humiliated by him and called barren. So this is her story. smiley

They did not only seize the plane, they also held in awe all the bewildered passengers, some of who were business people or top government officials flying to Abuja, the seat of power. The boys cited the need to enthrone democracy and actualize the annulled June 12 election as the reason for what appeared a desperate action, quite strange to their social milieu.
`Ladies and gentlemen, this plane has been taken over by the Movement for the Advancement of Democracy, remain calm, we will not harm you. You will be told where the plane will land you’ a gritty voice, not as sonorous as that of a pilot, echoed through the small speakers. Panic. Fear. Uncertainties.
Impressive. But really, how many Nigerians could afford to fly in 1993? Only criminals i can assure you. grin grin grin cheesy

This is the time future wifey should be using to be resourceful and not waiting for you to do everything. You can actually both put money down for the apartment and then marry.

What goes up must come down. This is Debriefs story. So i guess this is the EX. Well welcome to NL. Good to know you have learned albeit a little late. But God is in the business of doing miracles. I hope it is something a donor can fix. As long as your EX and mother can truly truly forgive you, then you can only pray that you get through this trying time and live a life worth living. Life is not all about fast cars, and vanity. All that should be done in your youth. When you get married, be ready to grow up.

Were you forced to marry your husband because maybe you got pregnant? Were you forced on him? It is either he is very selfish or does not care for you like a husband should care for his wife and child. A rational caring person will actually employ a driver to carry wife and kids and take public transport. Or will wake up early and drop both of you off before heading to work. huh undecided. What if mother and child lose their life in the process? huh lipsrsealed

betrani: These are human lives we are talking about here! This is madness of the first order! Why do a thing like this? Some respect shld have been shown to these fallen innocent men and women by depositin these debris in some pit and coverin it up! So it means that we were actually expecting them to die so we can make useless; their ash abi? This is barbaric
Which human lives? The concrete or the iron bars from the building? What about the metal from the plane which has most likely been smelted and will be reused somewhere. Are these the human lives you are talking about? Instead of you people to be pushing for reforms you are worrying about what happened to concrete. Were the bodies not removed? If the bodies had been crushed with what was taken then you are saying something. Otherwise this thread is useless. Even if they leave it by the side of the road, wont broken glass, concrete and other metals constitute a nuisance and be more deadly for those alive? The dead are dead and their bodies are in the hospital, not in the sand at the scene. Keep your sentiments for the government and not on sand. Ridiculous. Where have you ever even heard that ashes are dangerous?

Politics › Re: Lagos Fills Roads With Crash Site Rubble by 2mch(m): 7:19pm On Jun 08, 2012
The sand or dirt would have been used anyway. I think all the bodies had already been evacuated and if anything is left then it is probably ashes which would most likely disappear into thin air. So nothing to be sensitive about. There is no body parts or anything deadly in the rubble. Am sure even World Trade Center's rubble was used to sandfill a place. Where are they expected to keep such? In their house? Or use it as a monument? huh. The best the LASG can do now is to create a monument on the site and give the land owners an alternative location to live or compensation. cry
Family › Re: Getting Married To A Divorcee...what Are The Odds? by 2mch(m): 7:16pm On Jun 08, 2012
No Odds as far as i am concerned. A divorcee is a human being who has most likely learned from the mistakes of the past. At times i think experience comes with maturity. It should be for you to judge the person's character. A divorcee is a divorced and a divorce cannot be reversed except they remarry. The guy is single and available. If you are willing to embrace his kids as your own, i see nothing wrong in the arrangement. How the relationship will carry on is where you two will decide. How the kids are to be raised, the structure of the household and so many other things. Also take the time to know and understand the cause of the previous divorce. Also do your own investigation and never rely on anyone's word. When you have satisfied yourself with what you have seen vs what you heard, if it is favorable to you then by all means go ahead. One life to live. Someones trash is another s treasure. Goodluck wink

All it takes is to win the North as a whole. That is 2 zones. Win the SW, that is 1 more zone and then divide the MB. It is only Benue and Kogi that will vote with SS. The deal is sealed and this combo they will win.Although kogi has been known to vote in the same way Kwara votes. The rest of the MB except Benue are hypocritical, they lie today to be with other minorities, and vote North tomorrow. So in total that is 31/2 zones out of 6 at least. grin. This is the winning team. Also any SS that thinks SE will vote for them is a dreamer. Historically SE waits and jumps on the winning teams side, even rigs for the winning team. SE is not what anyone should be worried about. They did it with MKO, OBJ and GEJ. They always do this for political gains and political office. This is a winning combination. Nigeria has no alternative than to get better. We are only killing ourselves with this corruption. It is not sustainable. The winning combo should be Fashola/Elrufai. That is a total knockout!

FG introduces uniform duty rate on vehicles

By Godwin Oritse
THE Federal Government (NCS) has introduced a uniform import duty rate on imported vehicles based on ex-factory price. This development has taken effect in all Customs commands, a development that now eliminates the indiscriminate imposition of duties.
President Yar Adua

President Yar Adua

The duty rate before the newly introduced ex-factory rate was between 10-35 per cent depending on the age of the vehicle which limit the customs had pegged at ten years.

The value of vehicles before now were also calculated  indiscriminately by customs officers carrying out examination.

In a Memorandum with reference no NCS/T$T/I&E/067S.4/VOL. X, addressed to all Zonal Coordinators, all Area Comptrollers, and all Valuation officers, the government directed that all commands are to comply with the newly introduced ex-factory price for Customs duty collection.

Confirming the development, the Service spokesman, Mr Wale Adeniyi told Vanguard that the idea behind the memo is to ensure that duties on vehicles are uniform in every ports.

“The Memo is to ensure the enthronement of a uniform duty regime on vehicles in all ports, Customs commands, and this is because there has been a variance in the calculation of duty on vehicles,” he stated.

The Memo also contained a progressive reduction of import duty on vehicles of various age – ranging from three months to four years and above.

Vehicles above three months with Odometer reading above 3,000 miles but not above one year will attract a ten per cent duty rate, while vehicles more than one year but not above two years will equally attract a duty rate of 20 per cent.

Vehicles more than two years old, but not above three years will have Customs duty calculated at 30 per cent, and 40 per cent for vehicles more than three years but not more than four years old, while vehicles more than four years old and above will attract a duty rate of 50 per cent.

Part of the Memo reads “Consequent upon directive/approval given, I am directed to forward herewith motor vehicle Ex-factory Price (In United State Dollar) for Customs Duties Collection.

“You are required to take note of allowance for age of vehicles.“The Importers of used Vehicles must produce documentary evidence showing model and cubic capacity vehicles which should be obtained from the vendor.

“You are hereby directed to comply forthwith to avoid indiscriminate collection of duties on motor vehicles. This supercede the earlier one sent”. It would be recalled that Nigeria signed the international convention on agreement of Customs Valuation which is the general agreement on Trade and Tariff.

The convention is the treatment of Customs valuation which is based on the principle of Transaction value, Identical value method, Computed value method or Sale value, Similar value method, and Deductive value method.
The principles of arriving at import duty of vehicles includes the country of manufacture, cubic capacity, age rebate, wear and tear of vehicle percentage duty and ex-factory price.

Sorry, that's bullshiitt. Moshood Abiola was neither an academician nor an intellectual, and naming that school after him only stinks of cluelessness.

That's like changing University of Nigeria Nsukka to "Emeka Ojukwu University". Wouldn't that be stupiid? Much as I respect Ojukwu, I also am aware of what is right, and naming an institution of higher learning after an ex-soldier definitely isn't.

As a soldier, what Ojukwu deserves is a monument or a park.
And as a politician and sports enthusiast, what MKO Abiola deserves is the Abuja National Stadium (which he even helped oversee its construction). Simple and short.

These leaders of ours are so out of touch with common sense, they can barely get anything right.

And the fact Abiola himself was illiterate is even worse! How can you name a serious University after a non-acadaa, no matter how good he was?

Let's leave the universities to peeps like Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Chimamanda etc.

PS: Yoruba is a nation of tribes, and not a race.
Not true. Abiola was a very brilliant first class accountant. His only weakness was women. He was also a very brilliant politician. Nothing illiterate about the man. As a business man, he made mostly business decisions which were not always the best in regards to a country. I think Nigeria would have been better off with him as president. That being said, the renaming of Unilag is not a thing that the president can do. The NASS can overturn it. So, the students are better off facing the NASS. The president just said his own, he is obviously ignorant of the law, and is not well guided. You don't destroy an established brand name like that. UniLag has come too far as a brand. He instead should have changed MKO Poly to a University. I will rather Herbert Macaulay be honored, and not even with a University like Unilag.

Sorry to break it to you, but this babe might be servicing your mum too. I doesn't make any sense the way she is attached to the maid, even at the detriment of your own dad falling for this girl. If the girl was so secure in her cooking ability she would have found a job and left a long time ago. Maids don't have loyalty to anyone. It is very possible for your mum to find a replacement especially when the issue borders on your health which should come first. After all these I highly suspect the relationship between this maid and your mum. grin . Mum might be a lesbian and also in love with this jezebel. grin

OP,
I lied. I was trying to be rude. Now, this pointless attention seeking thread is unnecessary. And if you put your business outside you lose the right to say who can think it pointless. We all know your husband is on NL. Your juvenile attitude of bringing your problems that are not really problems is very annoying. Am sure you open threads on NL to get attention from your husband rather than having these discussions. You are an attention seeking person. If you cry wolf too many times, people begin to feel less sorry for you. Quite frankly you are immature, and unforgiving. I see why you got married to him with this your mindset. You probably thought you had him my the balls because of things he may have done, and with your attitude you could turn it to your benefit. But things have since backfired. I suggest you stop opening attention seeking threads on NL and talk to your husband. Except you want people to babysit and beg you not to do it, which you will go ahead and do anyway as usual. Please stop wasting bandwidth and face your problems squarely. tongue. Maybe you can try to change your attitude to life. And since you have agreed to stay be prepared to fall in love and be long suffering. I can see your attitude being very boring and annoying after a while to any guy, to the extent of him finding refuge somewhere else. A lot of women push their men outside. check yourself. You are as guilty. cheesy. Sorry again
