Sogyboy:Well if your parents are convinced, leave it all alone but make your reservations about the issue known. So any wahala that comes out of this, it shall be on their heads solely .Afterall she is their child, and not your own. I am sure if you did not have reservations about this issue you will not come NL to make a topic out of it. Dont say your thoughts in a forceful way, just relay it in a way that will make her think properly about the decision. Dont say anything to the guy though, it is only your sister you owe the talk to. Sogyboy:Your parents should be able to talk to her. It is best not to do the deed because she will think out of anger that you are jealous. She is still living in fantasy world. If the guy cannot wait for her to get a degree which can improve both of their lives, then he can move on to marry someone else. He is 28, he can wait. She has also been able to get a promising person at 19. If she goes to school at 20, she would be out by 24 or 25. I am sure she will find people with more promising future in university. She has also not lived as a teenager. 19 is too young to get married. There is a lot to do and see in life these days. She should focus on her life first, rather than looking for a man to feed her. Also he is a business man, i can tell you that business men have the most volatile incomes you can think of. Money today, gone tomorrow. he will need someone that can supplement his income and business risks. Not someone he will have to feed, clothe and send to school. |
Nigerian Lawyer, Francis Chukwu Dazzles NY Law School Over the weekend at the New York Law School graduation ceremony, Nigerian lawyer, Mr. Francis Chukwu, delivered a spectacular speech as the voice of the Class of 2011. He was given the honor for his exemplary performance as a student and a member of the Law School community. We’ll retrieve our mandate in A’Ibom, other states – Tinubu By Simon Utebor Tuesday, 24 May 2011 Former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, on Monday said the Action Congress of Nigeria would soon retrieve its “stolen” mandate in Akwa Ibom, Benue and Kwara states. Tinubu, who stated this at a retreat for governors, and legislators-elect of the ACN in Lagos, said the party had strong cases to enable it to win back the three states. He said, “The ACN today is clearly the fastest growing political party in Nigeria. We are in effective control of six states and constitute the most potent and viable opposition at the centre. “And we have very strong cases to retrieve our stolen mandates in such states as Akwa Ibom, Benue and Kwara.” He added that the conduct and outcome of the April general elections showed that Nigerians were becoming more politically sophisticated by the day. He said that the citizens were becoming increasingly intolerant of mediocrity and non-performance in government. The ACN national leader added that with enhanced transparency and credibility of the electoral process, parties and candidates could only retain political power by fulfilling their social contract to the satisfaction of the majority of the people. He reminded the newly elected governors and legislators that politics was not a tea party and that the privilege of holding people’s mandate was a sacred trust. Tinubu said, “The mandate cannot be squandered on mindless pleasure or reckless self-seeking. This is particularly so for members of a party like ours that stands for progressive change and radical modernisation of society. “Achieving this objective will demand from our public office holders the most strenuous exertions of your physical, mental, psychological and moral resources to actualise the vision of the party and justify the trust of the people.” The National Chairman of the ACN, Chief Bisi Akande, said that the colonisation of Nigeria which began with slave trade and other forms of economic exploitations had resulted in much delicate inter-communal resentment and distrust. Akande said the situation had been compounded by Nigeria’s transition from agrarian feudal politics to a complex parasite economy under the political brotherhood of corruption. “In Nigeria, political parties were formed by political leaders who attracted to themselves amalgams of different social, intellectual and occupational communities within every locality in the country. Of recent, most political position aspirants saw political parties as mere employment centres,” he said. He said the induction training was to provide a forum to deliberate on why political parties in Nigeria should be regimented by legislation into a uniform candidate nomination approaches. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201105242245523 |
Andy Uba's Fake Credentials Resurface At Anambra Election Tribunal By SaharaReporters, New York A petition capable of kicking Andy Emmanuel Uba off his journey to the Senate has been filed at the National Assembly Election Tribunal in Awka, Anambra State. It asks the Tribunal to invalidate the election in the Anambra South Senatorial District and order a re-run as Mr. Uba was not qualified to have run for the Upper House in the first place. The petition, filed by Mr. Ikechukwu Obiorah, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, further alleges that the election was invalid by reason of corrupt practices and non-compliances with the provisions of the Electoral Act. He is asking the court to, among others: • Disqualify Mr. Uba for giving false information in his election application; • Set aside his election into the National Assembly for the Anambra South Senatorial District; • Set aside the certificate of return issued to Mr. Uba by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and • Order a fresh election for the Senate seat. Also joined in the suit are the PDP, INEC, Prof. Kelechi Greco Okoye (the INEC Returning Officer for the Senatorial District), and Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, who, it is alleged, participated in the election as a second candidate of the PDP. Mr. Obiorah alleges that Uba, the former presidential aide to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who was declared elected to the Senate in the April 9 election, tendered questionable documents to back his application to INEC to run for the seat. Drawing attention to Mr. Uba’s declaration that he attended tertiary institutions that include Concordia University Canada, and California State University, the petitioner claims that Mr. Uba could not have been admitted in those institutions of learning because he lacked the minimum entry requirement. The petitioner also challenges Mr. Uba’s declaration of a “Bachelor of Science (AWAITING) 1985 -1992” in his application, saying, “The 1st Respondent is presently not enrolled in any University to be expecting any Bachelor of Science twenty (20 )years after his last academic adventure.” The petition also asserts that Mr. Uba “not having completed any course of work necessary for the award of Bachelor of science patently gave false information when he claimed that he obtained Doctor of Science 1993 -1996.” The petitioner says, “There is no University known as Buxton University London, in London or anywhere else in the United Kingdom. (At the hearing of the Petition, the Petitioner shall rely on the report of Home City Ltd, a verification and Research service company which verified the authenticity of the said Buxton University.)” In 2006, a SaharaReporters investigation into Mr. Uba’s educational background showed he did not earn the Bachelor’s degree in Geology he claimed from Concordia University – a Canadian institution he said he attended from 1984. Official Concordia University records showed that he dropped out without completing the requirements for a Bachelor’s degree. The university’s alumni office of records said Concordia University had no record of Uba ever graduating from the school. SaharaReporters investigations found similar problems with his claim to a Master’s degree from California State University, the official records of which showed Mr. Uba did not earn a Masters from there. Our investigations confirmed that while he did enroll at the school for an undergraduate programme to study Geography between September 27, 1990 and March 21, 1992, he never graduated. We also looked into Mr. Uba’s claim to possessing a doctorate degree from Buxton University in the United Kingdom, which we declared to be “the worst of all” because in the absence of a first or a second degree, he could not have legitimately sought a doctorate degree. Buxton University, our investigation found, was only an unaccredited online degree awarding institution with an address in Portugal, and notoriety for awarding bogus degrees to clients willing to pay a set fee. http://www.saharareporters.com/news-page/andy-ubas-fake-credentials-resurface-anambra-election-tribunal |
Court stops payment of Alao-Akala's gratuity By Jide Jegede May 24, 2011 01:23AM Print print Email email Share Share Eni Esan of the Oyo State High Court, on Monday, ordered the stoppage of severance gratuities of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and his political appointees. The judge granted a three-point exparte motion brought before her by Lasun Sanusi on behalf of a league of 11 retired judges of the state, who had been battling the governor for their severance pay two years after their retirement from the state judiciary. In a motion exparte filed at the state high court yesterday, the applicants prayed the court for reliefs to stop the governor, whose tenure lapses on May 29, from paying himself and his appointees without first paying theirs. The applicants also joined Ladi AbduSalami, state attorney-general; Olayiwola Olakojo, secretary to the state government; Tajudeen Aremu, head of service; and Waheed Olaitan, state Accountant-General, as co-defendants in the suit. The applicants are: Nurudeen Adekola, Olayiwola Adio, Ruth Oyetunde, Afolabi Adeniran, Olagoke Ige, Karimu Jimoh, Lambe Arasi, Akin Sanda, Atilade Ojo, Simon Akintola and Theophilus Adeniran (deceased) They are made up of three former Chief Judges, two acting Chief Judges and six other judges, who worked with the state's judiciary throughout their careers as judicial officers. They sought to restrain the defendants from paying Alao-Akala, Olakojo and AbduSalami as well as other political appointees ‘severance gratuities or any other terminal allowances until the claimants/applicants had been paid their respective severance gratuities as retired judicial office holders'. They also sought to restrain the head of service and the accountant-general from ‘facilitating or releasing funds for payment of the severance packages of the political office holders until the retired judicial officers are paid. After exploring a sustained judicial process, the retired judicial officers secured a judgement against the governor and order directing him to pay them with specified interests. The trial judge had fixed June 23 for movement of motion on notice. But the governor had since filed a notice of appeal against the judgement. Alao-Alaka's suit Earlier, the litigants were before Akintunde Boade for arguments on an application for stay of execution of order filed by the governor. Mr Alao-Akala was praying the court for a relief to suspend the orders granted by Muktar Ladi Abimbola while delivering judgement on an application by the retired judges to compel him to pay their severance packages. In one of the paragraphs in support of the government's affidavit in support of its application, the governor had said funds were available to the retired judges, but would not pay until the Appeal Court dispenses with the application he filed against the judgement. Justice Boade had also fixed his ruling on the governor's application for Friday, May 27. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5704194-146/story.csp |
A very childish person you are married to. He is still jealous about your ex and is emotional about not being your first? Very funny guy. He may also still be upset by the guy talk that may have gone round when you were still single. You need to really sit down and talk to him. All that happened when you were single becomes irrelevant when you are married. Because more important things should be on your minds, like creating a good environment for your children to grow up in. ![]() |
Better tell your sister to finish school first. She is still naive and knows nothing about life. He is a business man with money today, what if tomorrow the money runs out and he cannot take care of her? Money comes, money goes. But education remains a weapon to help you bounce back in hard times. Things will never always be rosy. Will she have the emotional maturity and mental capability to support the family during hard times. Women should wait till about 24 or 25 before marriage. At least finish their education and have prospects for the future. She still has a lot to learn about life and human beings. If he loves her, let him wait for her to finish university. Or cant your father take care of his responsibilities that he is looking to offload it on another man? She is excited about his money, which is a bad reason to get married. The guy will also respect your family more, if they take care of their own responsibilities and are able to make your sister live a realistic life. No real man will really respect people that depend on him to take care of their responsibilities. I.e your family and your sister. |
Waste of time and money; it will go down the drain like Obudu. As long as bad roads, poverty and insecurity (armed robbers, millitants, etc.) remain an issue tourism will not be lucrative for us. fact. |

Your parents way. Trust me, that guy can leave you immediately after the child is born. Especially if you become big from pregnancy. You will not even hear from him again. This is a very stupid decision to get pregnant before any commitment. Pregnancy has never bound any man to any woman since the history of man. You better run to the registry before you become baby mama. |
Dotman01:Sorry about the delay was a bit busy. What were your questions again? All i am saying is that Nigerians are hypocrites. If the SW really wanted to get rid of zoning, GEJ would have lost in the SW. Nigerian's are not yet tired of getting rid of tribal politics. They accepted zoning the day they voted for PDP. Also, ACN is asking for votes based on merit. I will like to ask the ACN reps if they were "PICKED" based on merit. Because if merit was the issue, they will not have those seats. Tinubu handpicked them. If the NA wants to make a big deal out of this position, then they should make a big deal out of it across the board, in all positions that have been zoned. Except the presidency and the vice presidency of course. As we can see, other zones are keeping quiet about the positions zoned to them. But are willing to take advantage of the stupidity of the SW ACN. Who think a house divided gives them some sort of leverage. They forget that this is a democracy and they cannot keep PDP out of the SW if they mess up, and waste time fighting other members rather than focusing on bringing allocations to the SW. and helping development. If they miss out on this position, which most likely they will. As Northern PDP members will band together to vote someone from the North, as they are more unified and have the numbers. They now relegate the SW to the back seat in the house. Kind of like a toothless bulldog. Everyone is playing this game, we will play along whether ACN likes it or not. And if they fail in the NA, PDP will win their seats in 2015. Because they won today, doesnt mean they will not be kicked out tomorrow. They represent a politically sophisticated people, and no love is lost for PDP in the SW as they voted PDP for presidency. |

Gbawe:Well we find ourselves in a unique position and we must work with it or change it to our advantage. They may be ACN but they are also Nigerians. The zoning arrangements zone to a region, but not specifically to a party. That is a loophole ACN can exploit. There are ways around these things. The SW has a lot of burden on its shoulders (population), and we cannot afford to lose out or be irrelevant in the scheme of things. |

Obama: US Moving Toward High-Speed Railways * Obama Heads to Mexico to Discuss Border Security, Drug War * Obama's Upcoming Speech at Notre Dame University Draws Criticism President Barack Obama wants the United States to join other industrialized countries in having an extensive high-speed rail system. The president has unveiled his plan to accelerate the development of high-speed rail in the U.S. President Obama says high-speed rail could do for America what it is already doing for other countries, including China and Spain. "A high-speed line between Madrid and Seville is so successful that more people travel between those cities by rail than by car and airplane combined. China, where service began just two years ago, may have more miles of high-speed rail service than any other country just five years from now," he said. High-speed rail only serves America's Northeast corridor, between Washington, D.C. and Boston, Massachusetts. But plans are under way to extend the rapid transit to other areas of the country. Before leaving for Latin America, Mr. Obama outlined his two-part strategy for accelerating those plans. http://www.voanews.com/english/news/a-13-2009-04-16-voa32-68813507.html ![]() |

Nigerian's believe new and shiny things, that are efficient and life saving should only be reserved for Oyinbo people and rich people. These rich people are their politicians who steal their money and will never ride these old dinosaur train cars if their life depended on it. But will go to foreign countries and enjoy the benefit of good and transparent government. They also believe that they should go the cheapest route, even if it is okrika or second hand, so that other people our countries can believe they have some sort of infrastructure. They also do not know how to maintain anything. This is the honest truth. People, we have to do better, and emancipate ourselves from okrika culture. Because regular people are going to ride these trains, doesnt mean they deserve a molue. |
Gekko:rotflmao. Imagine the nonsense being spewed here. I know some of them are working for their pay checks, but they should spare us the bullshit. At the end of the day, we know a newer equipment is far cheaper in the long run than an old one. Only common sense. Nigerian's and their okrika mentality. If it is too expensive for the state, then concentrate of roads and bridges until they can afford it. No more short cuts, or cheap alternatives. It always costs us dearly in the end. |
Katsumoto:Politics changes everyday. If you dont demand change it will not come. And if change refuses to come, you work with the best you have. Play their own game in a way that benefits you. this is what the SW has always done. The SW changed the political landscape of Nigeria by going radical and voting ACN. We did not vote ACN so that they can become lame ducks. By the way, Mr. Femi is the naive one here. Common sense is hardly common it seems. Nigeria is a tribalistic driven society. We must play the field, but play it wisely to our advantage and growth of the region, else we make ourselves irrelevant. We still need the FG for funding and a lot of our infrastructure, so why not have a hand in making those decisions? |
