Nothing wrong with your post, i think it is careless for parents to have their children running around naked in a communal space. I also think the kind of parents those children have is quite unfortunate. I advise you speak to your landlord to tell the couple to restrict their children's nudity and menace to their house. After all you are paying your own rent too. You should not be subjected to such. huh

Abagworo:
What I don't like about some contributors is that their strategy is aimed at polarizing the country. They are interested in the President's ethnic group and not his performance.

Bombs went off in Maiduguri and everyone killed were Northerners. From the logic being presented by some posts here,if 2 or 3 southerners were somehow caught in the bombings, they would have termed it attack on the Igbos.

The whole issue is the fault of PDP and our ruling class who rather than presenting us with reasons to vote Jonathan were employing such terms as "they've ruled for 38 years","Buhari is an extremist","Jonathan is Igbo".

That was the reason for polarization of the election.Buhari's campaign was purely based on his record as a disciplinarian, honest man and change. They never for once mentioned North/South,Rotation or Religion.

The consequences of polarization coupled with rigging is that an illegitimate government has been produced and therefore will not be in control of the country.Every little misunderstanding will always be viewed from a tribal angle.

Shame on Nigerians for falling to this bait.
You are a very smart man that does not mix the truth with tribal sentiment. It shows all Igbo's do not have this complex of tribal envy which comes across as  an inferiority complex. if someone has a differing view from them the person is termed a sellout. Stand on what you believe in, you make more sense than all your brother's trying to bully you. I hope in future you are able to help your people see things in a less selfish stand point, and look for the best interest of the country as a whole. You, Chinyere and Eziachi are the posters that make sense on this forum. Kudo's

Arosa:
Guys look at this Kings(Oba of Lagos Obi of Onitsha Oba of Benin) what do they all have in common.
This only proves that they all have Yoruba influences. Oba, and Obi are both Yoruba words. See you see wahala now? The bini Oba of recent has been desperately trying to change history. For all we know, Yoruba's have been wearing beads for centuries, so the beads are not exclusive to Bini. There might actually be more Yoruba influence on Bini culture. The fact that you see a staff doesnt mean there is any influence. Fashion of the times can cause many changes. A certain Yoruba king or bini king may have liked that staff. This influence may have come from either tribe. Oba of bini needs to stop his charade. It only works with Bini people. Yoruba's have something called "oriki", and it is memorized from generation to generation telling us of our history. It is an extremely accurate account of each family's history and sub sect history as well. One bini "Oba" cannot come and tell us hwo we are, in his desire to live in the past and hopes to expand his kingdom. He needs to focus on getting Bini city in a better place and promoting tourism for his people.

There, you have it: straight from the mouth of the Oba of Benin. These are excerpts from a lecture he gave in the University of Ibadan, in 1984. You prolly were not born then. So read, and expand your pea sized brain.
The Oba of benin should first explain why his title has "Oba" in it, before he tries to rewrite history and tell us our history. Yoruba history is not them say them say. We have accurate accounts of our history passed doown from generation to generation, which is not only restricted to the knowledge of kings or Oba's. Like the bini people who rely on one Oba to tell them who they are. A commoner Yoruba knows his history much more than a bini. Yoruba's were there before benin people came. It is just like saying the British came before Igbo's in Igboland. I dont need to read the crap from the Oba of benin about my history. Akpoloko ko, akpalako ni.
Politics › Re: Eko Ile, Lagos Is A Benin Town Not Yoruba by 2mch(m): 9:22pm On Apr 25, 2011
it is ile oko, bastardized as eko. Lagos was never a camp. Stop being revisionists. Unfortunately for you, Yoruba's preserve their history in poems and can give accurate facts. Passed down from generation to generation. No one can come and tell us who we are. Certainly not you.
Politics › Re: Eko Ile, Lagos Is A Benin Town Not Yoruba by 2mch(m): 8:11pm On Apr 25, 2011
Eko is coined from Ile oko, meaning farm in Yoruba. What about benin people that call their ruler's Oba. Does that mean Yoruba's are bini? Because Oba is a Yoruba word. There are a lot of borrowed words here and there. Just like how everyone in Nigeria now says jo or jare. Doesnt mean it is no longer a Yoruba word or Yoruba's are everyone's progenitor. Eko ( Ile oko). It was a farming and fishing community. Your arguments are baseless.

Politics › Re: Who Is A Lagosian ? by 2mch(m): 4:43pm On Apr 25, 2011
step1:
Any yoruba living in lagos does not need to know where he originally came from. My father is a lagos . He is a brazilian Awori originally but with some ijaw blood and my mother is an offa/egba woman from Kwara. If my mother claims she is a lagosian, that is within her rights to do so. I have cousins who are Ebga people from Abeokuta and when they came to lagos, they called their friends and said "omo eko ni mi" (I am a lagosian). Other ethnic groups cannot tell the difference whether he is Awori or not. That is the beauty of being a yoruba in Nigeria. This is not tribalism, it is more like a yorkshire man going to London and claim he was an indigene of London but me as a black man would not know the difference. Of course the true yorubas can identify the difference if he is Awori or not but as things stand now, no one cares.

If an igbo person has lived in lagos all his live and understands yoruba and the way of life then he is entitle to whatever lagos has to offer. The only problem he might be facing is his name and the way he acts in public, not that i am a tribalist here but being a lagos politican and wearing a red hat and other eastern stuff is a bit strange and annoying. If a man is named CHUKWU EMEKA but every other thing is yoruba about him even to way to communicates to the people, then by all mean he is free to rule so long as he does well. You have to remember no one like other groups ruling them and his tenure would not be really easy for him because of his background unless he does a lot better than his predecessors.

Many igbos, SS and hausas as of today claim OMO EKO  because they act and behave like lagosian which is very cool, but in times of crisis the yorubas can identify them from the indigenes very easily because of the way they speak and other stuffs like asking them about there background which every true son and daughter of yourba should know. Most of us living in lagos love other ethnic groups in lagos because it brings a bit of diversity of language and culture. There are some parents (mostly igbos and ijaws) that would not let there children learn yoruba because they view it as colonisation or they just hate the language because it is not english. Well it is sad because such children better relocate to other parts of the country. The reason for this is that such children can not buy easily without being swindled or bullied in the public life of lagos.

Lagos is a rough city where individuals have to be smart and be on there toes unlike port harcount or abuja. Of couse it would be easier if they learn yoruba, pidgin english and learn the way of life in a city like lagos.

Talking about politics, aworis would prefer any other yoruba to rule them than any other person from another group. For example Tinubu and his wife are not lagosian but yet they are loved. The chairman of my local government is from Ekiti and he is ruling another from kwara etc; but of course other ethnic groups cannot know the difference if he is awori or not.

So in summary, Lagos is a city that defines yorubas as an ethnic group. It is a city that make an ekiti man feel yoruba, it is a city that makes an ondo or kogi man feel yoruba, It is a city that make igbos see the yoruba way of life but this has be diluted a bit due to the diversity  wink . All in all it is a city that makes everyone feel Nigerian from hausa, igbo, ijaw to yoruba. A city for all.

onathan, Mark and Akpabio

Less than 24 hours to the governorship election in Akwa Ibom State, the police in the state raided a private printing press in Uyo on Sunday night and carted away production materials and several copies of some local newspapers while they were on production. Some journalists were arrested and later released in the morning.

But the director of the printing press and two of his staffers are still being detained in an unknown location by the police.

The raided printing press, Aswill is in Akpan Etuk Street in the heart of Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, and the affected papers are Global Concord, Pivot News and Weekly Insight.

Mr. Clifford Thomas, the publisher and editor-in-chief of Pivot News confirmed that the police arrested him and three other journalists who work in the production team of his paper, but that they were later released. He said the police came in four Toyota hilux trucks, and said they had orders from the deputy commissioner of police to stop some newspapers from getting to the newsstand because of suspicion that they were publishing subversive materials against the Akwa Ibom State government.

“They forcefully took away all our production plates, we are now thinking of how to start afresh for this week publication. The police action is highly repressive and it is condemnable,” Clifford Thomas said. Mr. David Augustine, the editor-in-chief of Weekly Insight said though the police did not take away the production materials of his paper, that the raid has affected their plans to hit the newsstand early because they had already scheduled to print the newspaper in the raided press.

Towards Tuesday Elections; Akpabio meets Akwa Ibom Press distributes N100,000 each

In what seems to be the final touches to the massively rig tomorrow's election, Governor Godswill Akpabio is bribing interest groups to compromise them ahead of the gubernatorial elections in  Akwa Ibom state. Governor  Akpabio continued his bribery spree from the state treasury as he met on Saturday night with journalists in the state.

The Saturday night meeting was coordinated by Mr Aniekan Umanah, Akpabio’s Commissioner for Information who personally distributed N100,000 cash to over 200 people who paraded themselves as journalists.

SaharaReporters gathered that roll call of the attendees was taken to ensure that everyone present was captured in the bribery scheme which involved  journalists and impostors alike who took advantage of the opportunity to line their pockets.

It was gathered that the cash disbursement was to shut them up even though press men stationed in the state capital are largely compromised especially since last year when the governor hosted the annual meeting of the National Union of Journalists n the state. Some officials of the body were kidnapped in Abia state with huge sums of money given to them by Governor Akpabio.

The nocturnal meeting, held at Akpan Isemin hall within the Governor’s lodge dragged late into the early hours of Sunday .

The Bribe recipients took turns to collect the fresh mint notes and disappeared in small groups to execute their brief.

The use of state funds in prosecuting Akpabio’s re-election bid has been going on since he indicated interest to run for a second term in office.

Nigerian's are really crazy when it comes to religion. "He is a man of God", "God has shown him his wrath by the fire that ravaged his house." I guess through your visions, God showed you that Bakare has defied him. He is a man of God, and according to his religion and the bible, he is yet to do wrong. So why the mass hysteria? Are you afraid that he may be right? Nigerian's are always afraid of the truth. Who told you GEJ is God sent? What is your proof? Your title should be " Elite- Nigeria's Ticking Time Bomb" These set of people called the "elite" are the biggest criminals in Nigeria, and have succeeded in impoverishing the nation are responsible for this crises. These people in a sane society will be in jail for 20 years at least. Most of them would have gotten death sentences from numerous murders. There is no difference between them and the Almajiri's. They are solely responsible for the Almajiri state of life. Most Almajiri have lost parents and family to our terrible health care system. They also are refused a right to education, and a promising future by these same elite thieves. You cannot keep stealing at the expense of others. One day, the poor will come and ask for their due. This is what we are seeing today. Let us not blame the Almajiri's, but the government who is responsible for their well-being. They are supposed to be the wards of the state. It is time we start holding out leader's accountable.

Preferable choice is a United States of Nigeria, or a Regional based government with a central army, represented equally by all regions. Each region having its duly appointed leader to sit in a cabinet and make final decisions. While we would have leaders at the regional level, much like state House of representative creating laws and policies to govern the region.

I am also sure the president has JTF under its thumb. The idea will be to deploy non northern troops to the area. So that they are neutral. Preferably Edo or Yoruba extraction. All they need to do is shut down the states and declare a state of emergency, and before doing so announce on BBC news, and news channels Northerner's listen to. Tell everyone to stay in their homes. Trouble maker's will be arrested and attackers will be shot. As long as adequate announcements are made, there should be no problems stopping all this crises. Mobile police, JTF and SSS are supposed to get involved. Not the army proper
