How did they arrive at the 7.45pm threshold that determine the severity of the punishment? Does the 'dorcassing' done at 7.40pm have different effect on the 'dorcassier/dorcassee' from the one done at 7.50pm? |
If one listens to the slant being given the reportage of the on-going operation in international media - cnn, bbc, alijazeera etc, one may support the view of Buhari on the matter. They would show collumns of soldiers and tanks of Chadian army and emphasize they were in nigeria territory. Yesterday, alijazeera interviewed the Chadian minister of defense who was boasting how they had LIBERATED Gamboru (stressing unnecessarily it is a Nigerian town as if the jurisdiction was in doubt) and how his force (he didn't call them multinational force) were going ahead to liberate more Nigerian towns. The other time our force entered Cameroon, they were disarmed and detained. We had to call it 'tactical maneuvering'. Like Buhari said in the first interview, we need the Neighbour's cooperation in making sure they secure their borders so that BH don't run across border when the heat is much on them while our military handle the terrorists on our soil. We should reflect our bigness. It doesn't speak well of our military that Chadian forces are 'liberating' our towns. It is like Nambia or Leshoto entering South Africa to liberate their towns for them. Tufiakwa. |
Thank you OP for giving us the names of Nigerians who are oil blocs owners in nigeria and their theoretical worth. Please give us the worth of oil blocs owned by the following in Nigeria. British/Norwegian owned Shell corporation with its subsidiaries - SPDC West, SPDC East, Sneepco British owned BP American owned Mobil Producing American owned Chevron Italian owned Eni/agip Chinese owned CCC French owned Total |
agabaI23:1. Lie. What Buhari regime signed with Brazil was 'Counter-trade agreement'. At the time, there was oil glut, so low price and no buyer. In addition, opec severely restricted the quota of its members. In order to circumvent these constraints, govt signed counter-trade agreement with some countries including Brazil to exchange oil for needed goods. Not refined fuel as you alleged. Kaduna refinery was brand new then and warri and port-harcourt 1st refineries were all working at full capacity. Nigeria wasn't importing fuel in the 1980s. Infact, the port-harcourt 2nd refinery was built strictly for export under IBB. 2. Until under IBB, forex was strictly government affairs. It was not introduced by Buhari. Infact to import under Shagari, you must first get import licence from the minister of trade. What buhari strictly enforce was exportation of forex - which means you can only carry what you legally and truthfully collected as PTA or BTA. It had always been in force before buhari regime but sacred cow (politicians) could abuse the rule. Remember Fela case. 3. I don't know how old you are but if you are old enough, you would have heard of Price Control Board introduced even before Shagari regime came in 1979. In addition, when oil price fell in 1982, Shagari regime introduced 'austerity measures' including empowerment of the then Nigerian National Supply Company - an agency of government to be responsible for importing essential commodities (called 'essenco' then) like rice, cooking oil, sugar, tyres etc for distribution to Nigerians at controlled prices. As usual, the ruling NPN topshots hijacked the thing and used Indian companies like Inlaks to hoard the commodities in warehouses once imported by NNSC. Unluckly for them, buhari took over a year later and sent soldiers to force open the warehouses to auction the hoarded goods after wide publicity which always led to essenco long queues in the early days of his administration. The process got sanitized later and with the help of counter-trade agreement, essenco became available even in big super-markets like leventis and utc at controlled prices. They were also directly distributed to civil servants and cooperatives. 4. Buhari was in government for less than 2 years. If the entire graduates in the country were unemployed during his short tenure, what were those graduates doing during the oil boom that preceded the regime up to a year before he came in? You are just parroting illogicality may be because you were not born then. Nigerians felt the effect of the austerity measure more under Shagari than under buhari and let me tell you, unemployment as known today was not on wide scale then. Many people still got jobs even under Shagari austerity talkless of buhari. 5. I cannot contest your assertion that he sacked 30,000 soldiers because I was not aware and definitely was not widely reported in the press then which would be unusual given his not so cordial relationship with his chief of army staff (IBB). Even those who overthrew him did not list this as one of his shortcomings. 6. For the record, buhari never formally proscribed NANS. The chief of staff SHQ - Idiagbon always insisted that they would just not recognize the leadership of NANS whatever that meant. But given the experience of the previous obj military regime with NUNS which obj proscribed and NANS was formed under succeeding shagari civilian regime, it was understandable that a military regime would not be enarmoured with possible organized opposition. |
chronique:He was not exactly unknown. In the 1980s, he brought unijos student union into national student unionism reckoning when he was its president. As the national PRO of NANS in 1986/87, he showed IBB and Jubril Aminu (then minister of education) pepper. He was a commissioner in his state in the period that GEJ was a deputy governor and he was a deputy governor when GEJ was a governor. After being a commissioner, deputy governor, and a minister from 1999 to date, he is enviably entitled to aspire to higher position. |
This is why I like how Nigerians criticise. If this devaluation had happened under Sanusi, the thread would have been awashed with how a purported graduate of Islamic studies or an a.boki is unsuited for the post of CBN governor. |
The Executive Dean, College of Criminal Justice and Security at the University of Phoenix, Major Gen. James ‘Spider’ Marks, has said that the growing insecurity and pogrom in the North-eastern part of Nigeria is not a priority to the United States of America. |
Why did Fayose leave out Shehu Shagari? He is from North West too like those he listed and he is still kicking. Why can't Buhari survive his tenure like Shagari? To take it further, does it mean that because the only Igbo (Ironsi) that ever made it to the presidential seat died (unlawfully killed) in office, then we should not vote for a south easterner to become president. Thrash. |
This failed airline is yet to refund my 19k for a cancelled flight on xmas day. The idiotic staffers just refused to show up at the airport on that day and refused to pick their calls even from the ncaa and faan officials |
That yeye discovery air made me spend my xmas at abuja airport last december. They just simply didnt show up. We lodged complaint with the ncaa and faan consumer protection but up till now, they are yet to refund my N19,000 for the one way ticket. I eventually bought economy ticket on Arik at N42,000!!!. I just heard this evening that the FG had suspended its licence. Na so my 19k enter voicemail. |
Stelvin101:Read the post you quoted again and after that do the needful. |
MsPat:Aloku pastor |
ochejoseph:At bolded. How far have you gone on that road to make that conclusion? The road is still materially under construction with diversions to single lane at many spots hence the gridlock. What then make it one of the best roads in the country in its present stage? The section handled by Bulletine is already failing even before handover while at least four bridges are still being constructed. We just pray that SURE-P will substantially fund the project to completion in 2015. While the drivers could do better with some patience, they are not entirely to blame. |
GOODLUCK JONATHAN CURRICULUM VITAEIn 1960s up to early 1970s (precisely up to September 1973), Nigerian school calendar ran from January to December before changing to the current September to June cycle in 1973. GEJ's birthdate was given as November 1957 and since his reported year of commencement of primary education was 1961, that means he started primary education in January 1961 at the age of 3 years and 2 months! In those days, that would be almost inconceivable. I should think that if he actually enrolled in 1961 as reported, it must be for pre-primary education of sort - the one we call "let us have peace in the house". That should explain why he reportedly spent 8/9 years in primary school. |
Double post |
Is it not odd that the FRSC that issue these number plates does not deem it fit to put a comprehensive list of the codes on its website? Does one need to invoke FOI act just to know the meaning of abbreviations on number plates? |
tumababa:January 2nd 2015 will actually be declared a public holiday for Eid Maulud. You are lucky. |
jamesw:These are the main reasons for the strike. All those talk about PIB, state of roads and refineries are just padding. |
saxywale:Olorunimbe Mamora - the former speaker of lagos house of assembly and later a senator representing lagos east is from Ogun State and he never hid the fact Babajide Omoworaare was a former member of lagos assembly representing Ifako-ijaye and later went to his home state - Osun State to become a senator representing Osun east after defeating omisore in 2011. There are others aside these two. |
Collynzo9:How did you arrive at N300 per litre? At the peak of crude oil price, the total shortfall was computed to be about N64 per litre based on the cost to pump of a little below N129 when the pump price was N65. The FG shared the shortfall with the consumer in half and that was how the pump price moved to N97 from N65 while FG subsidized N32 per litre. Now price of crude is down by 40% when compared to that time even when you factor in the devaluation in naira exchange rate, the current cost to pump is no longer up to N129 per litre. You may contact the PPPRA for cost template. All the prices of petroleum products in nigeria are based on international market prices and that is why the issue of subsidy for PMS and HHK arose in the first instance while AGO and aviation fuel are fully unsubsidized. The issue of qatar and others subsidizing crude oil is irrelevant to the discussion. Subsidy is subsidy whether on input or on output. Nigeria used to subsidize crude to the local refineries too when they were functional before Obj govt stopped it and introduce international price for crude while introducing subsidy on final imported fuel products. |
There are some flaws in this report 1. Jamb forms were not filled under oath at least in the 1980s, so he could not have lied under oath. 2. In the early 80s, only state of origin was required on jamb forms not even local govt needed to be filled. 3. Perjury is not an act against state security, so why will DSS be involved. 4. Ilaje is not a town either in ondo state or anywhere. It is a sub-tribal group just like eegun, aworis etc. Why would he filled in 'ilaje'? 5. In those days, many southerners claimed Northern states in order to enter northern universities like ABU, Bayero, etc or gained admission to southern universities on lower cut-off marks. Some claimed another state in order to take advantage of catchment areas. 6. The current Minister of Trade - Aganga, is known to be from Edo state but he was appointed as minister to represent Lagos State by the president. |
Ambber:No. Repeated |
BBA2 final two. = Richard (Tanzania), Ofuneka (Nigeria) BBA9 final two. = Idris (Tanzania), Tayo (Nigeria) Will history be repeated or jinx broken? |
KHAYGOLD:If you are going to correct, get your facts right. So telecoms companies just woke one morning, realized that nigeria had no gsm, walked in and set up business in parts of nigeria that caught their fancy to make money? smh. By the way, David Mark made the statement about telephone (not gsm) not being for the poor when he was the minister of communications in Babangidä regime in 1987. That was more than a decade before gsm was introduced to Nigeria in 2001. |
Inec admitted that the data loss affected about 1.8million voters in Lagos state alone. The question is how does it intend to register all these and produce PVC for them in time for the 2015 elections. |
Given the list of attendees, this should appropriately be tagged 'Yoruba PDP Leaders' meeting not Yoruba Elders meeting. As such, the kind of discussions and chest- beating that went on there is understandable. Even the source of the posting - National Mirror (owned by Jimoh Ibrahim) slant in making it look as if Jimoh is the leader of Yorubas and can therefore speak for Yorubas is too obvious to be missed. Anyway, all is fair in electoral war |
spade:So they publicly announced their separation and few hours later were banging their heads off ![]() What do we call this now? Post-marital s.ex? |
ShortPistolZA:Thanks @Goodgirl2 and ShortP I had a fine girl from that side sometimes ago. Beautiful but stubborn like a castrated ram. To get her not to do something, just 'order' her to do it. U get result quick. But she is (was? then) not typically 'yanshy' unlike many SAns women ![]() |
ShortPistolZA:Are people from P E Xhosa also? |
babsdelani:Just as the presidency enlightened muric, you may also wish to know that what you highlighted in the pictures is incomprehensible to any Arab. It is called ajami not Arabic. It is like writing 'haborsheday'. It is useless to an Englishman but a Yorubaman will understand even though written in English. Ajami served its purpose may be up to late 1960s because many northerners who were not western educated were able to read it and that was why many colonial Nigerian symbols of state carried them e.g. Currencies, frontier forces, Nigerian army, etc but this is 2014 where many northerners are now literate in western education, ajami has outlived its usefulness as a mean of communication but it was never a religious (Islamic) symbol. |
Please educate me. If Mark doesn't forgive Cheche, what exactly can or will he do to him? The guy is in the house of rep while Mark is in the senate albeit chairman of the national assembly but he has no direct control on what happen on the floor of the house. In 2007, during the struggle to remove speaker Eteh, some members engaged in a fist cuff on the floor of the house and in the process, a member representing Katsina who also happened to be a confidant of the sitting president Yar'adua slumped and died. What happened? Nothing. |
ZACHIE:On constitution's authority. @pendicle is right. Note that Danladi did not originally go to court to be made acting governor but to be reinstated to his deputy governor position. It was the accident that happened to suntai that brought up the issue of acting governor otherwise he would have just returned as deputy to suntai. Suntai still remained the governor till may 2015. |
