Can someone kindly help

I applied for tourist visa for my family of 6. (we have history of family vacation within and outside Nigeria) BUT

1) I observed that none of our pictures I uploaded appear on the confirmation paper. Only X appear in the part where the picture should have been with instruction to bring 2 by 2 photo to the interview. Is this normal?

2) apart from my wife and I, our children are aged 14, 12, 10 and 4 years. The first 3 are in boarding school. Are the children expected to attend interview also given their age? Especially in the light of 'non-uploading' of their digital pictures as stated earlier.

3) USA is only a part of our itineraries as we will arrive there from another country and depart there for another country. Flights already booked but re-schedulable. However the visa application only asked about the US visit and I only stated that leg. Will the embassy officer see this as false information?

4) I read somewhere here that it is better to leave part of the family behind as a 'tie'. This is not an option for us. We either go together or stay behind together. This I intended telling the visa officer. Does it mean US frown at family vacation?

klas: In plain English, does University of Ibadan means the university belongs to Ibadan? There exist State of California in US yet it is not different from Texas State which was even an independent republic up to 1845 before it voluntarily joined the USA as the 28th state .

But like somebody already posted, legal meanings are not necessarily same as ordinary dictionary meanings.

@koruji. You are not entirely right that the constitution only listed the names of states without clarifying if they are 'of' or not. In the Schedule to the Constitution(same as where states are listed) but the one on the Oath of Office, it expressly states that Governor take oath as "Governor of _ _ _ _ State" not as "Governor of State of _ _ _ _". Same for members of the House of Assembly of a state or Judicial officials of a state's courts.

It was actually a sort of culture shock to me at the early stage of my marriage. Being yoruba married to an igbo. My inlaws were like "thank you ogor" even if they breath air in my house. I was brought up to thank the person who eat in my house not the other way round. Even then, it will not be specifically for eating but for coming around to visit.

My wife initially took offence anytime I chop clean mouth without aftermeal 'thank you' but as time went by, she got used to it. Nowadays, my inlaws have learnt to keep their 'thank you after every meal' at home when they come visiting because they know I will not respond

wales: He was not killed in a relaxation joint it was in front of his new house in hotoro quaters where he used go regularly. Alcohol and prostitution is banned by both the govt and the militant vigilantes in all parts of kano state and city except for sabon gari. We must avoid sensationalization in order to give a dog a bad name.
For the benefit of those who want to know Danladi neither drinks or smokes. He was known to be very religious and friendly to both his friends and foes. Also to say that militants killed him is not exactly right because so far no one knows who killed him, it could be anybody.

^^^ to a large extent I agree with you. The significant advantage that the major accounting firms have over their local counterparts is the ability to bring in relevant professionals from their outside offices.

A sharp local firm can mitigate this disadvantage by entering into specific technical partnership with relevant experts when bidding.

But why does accounting profession lay premium on foreign affiliation? I don't see that in legal profession yet they make their own names. Akintola Williams used to have branches in 4 west African countries when it was a 'local firm' but it is now subsumed under Deloitte

Let us clear the misconception about the cost of the new number plate and juxaposition in the numbers arrangement

1 There is a difference between the cost of registering a vehicle and the cost of a number plate. Number plate cost is just a component of the cost of registration.

In the old dispensation, number plate cost N5,000 for regular but you still have to pay other charges like registration itself, registration booklet, proof of ownership, autoreg fees and a host of others which sometimes add up to between N10k and N25k.

In the new dispensation, the regular number plate cost jerked up from N5k to N15k. When other vehicle registration charges are added, the total registration cost for new vehicles comes up to between N32,300 and N40,950 announced by lagos government

However, for those changing from old to new number (ie previously registered vehicles), they only need to buy the new number plate at N10k and if the vehicle is due for renewal, there will be the normal cost of renewal in addition.

Note that it is the states boards of internal revenue acting as joint tax board that fix vehicle registration fees not the frsc

2 On the issue of juxaposition in arrangement of numbers on the plate i.e placing serial code last instead of first. This nominal change is done to avoid confusion during the transition period from sept 2011 and august 2012.

The effect of the change of number plates renders all previous registration numbers invalid effective from august 31 2012. simple. So, when you go for replacement, it is not your old number that will be given to you. Like the one Inspired posted above, KJA-193-AA. This is a new number for a new vehicle aparently bought less than two months ago but there must be an existing vehicle registered under the outgoing number as AA-193-KJA. If there is no change in arrangement of numbers, there will be two vehicles having the same number at least up to august 2012.

koruji. To be frank, I too bought some shares in it in 2003 and have some of my colleagues who bought substantially in both 2003 PO and 2006 PP. We knew they were still pursuing licence, so could not reasonably expect return.

I invested in it purely for economic reason nothing religious. Same way I invested in Transcorp among others since 2006 and no return till today.

It is a risk you take when you invest in stocks. Some have given me excess returns while few gave many unhappy returns.

@alj harem. That picture is the National Assembly building not the presidential villa. In the background (though not as close unlike the picture depict) is the aso rock (physical rock) itself. In between the national assembly and the rock is the sprawling complex that houses among others - the president office and residence.

@OP. There is nothing officially called Aso rock villa or aso villa contrary to what press sometimes called it. The whole presidential villa is like a housing estate lying between yakubu gowon way and nnamdi azikwe expressway. It has many streets inside named after notable northern people like ibrahim taiwo.
The estate house the president office, council chamber (which is the one usually shown on tv), the president residence all linked by arabian looking alleyways. There are also in the estate, the vp office, office of the secretary of the federation, banquet hall, presidential guest houses named numerically eg house 5, house 14.   etc. The efcc also has some departments in the estate. Other buildings are privately owned. Yes you can still buy land there even till today from private owners.
Like jakumo said, the buildings are not special looking or distinct almost the same concept as Dordan Barracks at ribadu road in lagos.

As I said, nothing officially like aso villa, it is only the council chamber (an adjournment to the president office) out of all the buildings that was named Aso Chambers not aso villa by babangida in 1991. He derived the name from the aso rock which is not far from the office on the other side of azikwe expressway. The correct name for the whole estate is presidential villa and when taken together with the nearby federal secretariat, national assembly and the supreme & appeal courts buildings, it is called three-arms zone.

your post actually support Nigerian insurance practise not being ideal. If not so, why should they disclaim 3rd party liability after collecting premium? The case in question is a third party risk which is supposedly covered by the valid 5k (your veiled derision noted) insurance.

The stress police will give u to obtain police report coupled with insurance claim procedures will be more costly than doing the repairs yourself.

My own concern is why all the appointees are special adviser status which is equivalent of minister and are therefore of cabinet rank. The weekly FEC meetings will be unwieldy when you combine these with 42 ministers. Many of them should have just been Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants level.

My advice to you is to travel up North and look at the roads compared to the roads in the South and you will know answer. Even though the Northerners are quite poor, the level of infrastructure in that region is actually very impressive. The emirs and the Northern elite may not like to educate the masses, but they definitely like to improve the infrastructure in their region.

The former Eastern region hasn't really had many central positions to direct development of our region, therefore it makes no sense to mention the region.
