tpiadotcom:
ancestry.com is western i think.

the indigenous record would be somewhere else, as you know.
Yes, as in oriki or family traditions if any. But how many people really value such that much? Again I think oriki only exist among the Yoruba and the Egun as far as I know, and not all has historical bearing as one would have wished. But all hint has its secret.
CultureRe: Any Nigerian Family With Absolutely No Mixed People At All? by 2prexios: 10:08pm On Jun 05, 2015
tpiadotcom:
huh

do you disagree?
I dont disagree, but scarcely will you find people with indigenous depth to deal with your question. They will rush to ancestory.com which I think now has all the answers.
CultureAina: A Yoruba Term Of EuroAsian Origin by 2prexios(op):
I think its time we reopen discussions on the link with the Cradle Crescent. For some reasons, I've always been curious about the name Aina and the name's oriki, where it says 'Alepo niko(lo)'. I am particular about Alepo, which I took as meaning 'the anointed one'. Why? Well Alepo in Yoruba means 'one who has oil'. Interestingly, Aina means 'not to be beaten' as in, the name Aina and Oriki seems to leap from the scripture that says 'touch not my anointed' I was just reading a book titled 'Northern Nigeria Christians', this evening and a point about 'ALEIPHO, meaning 'rub with oil' in Greek, as used in KJV James 5:14' caught my attention. I felt serendipity first hand. Mr.President, Tpia, gatiano, Tonyspike, Ojodellio, over to you guys and the knowledgeable ones.

My brother presumption is a bad thing o, your only saw the Source and concluded I must have plagiarized it there.

Check the website on my profile.

You will realize that I 'Amos Nonyu' is the owner of that blog and this researched piece which I originally intend to express on a book I'm still penning was brought out of me due to some atheist post on Facebook.

I only put the Source there to drive traffic to my blog.

Cheers.
I was spoiling for war initially. But since this is ur personal effort, I rather shealth my sworld. I respect intellectual efforts of my peers, so much, cos its always a rare fountain to sip from. I'm upset when nagging against me won't just stop. Cheers bro.

I have read your first-ever thread on Yoruba history in years. I am Sango descent (omo Ose) and I believe in retributive justice. In as much as you have copied this from somewhere and dump it here without any intellectual imput of your own in the story, I will like to read your imput before I comment, trust me, you wont forget my comment in a hurry. It will stick like 'Stockholms Syndrome'.

macof:
Where did I insult you? I challenge you, you hate challenges on a claim that is alien to the general population, how then do u get people to take you seriously?
My contributions will tell the people to either take me seriously or not, not what you think of me sir, I'm not doing this to face a challenge from you if that is how you see life, I am doing this to add my quota to human knowledge. There is nothing else needed to convince someone looking to condemn an argument with impunity and indignation.

The Yoruba proverb said it better: bi a ko ba leni nigbimo, baa ba rojo are, ebi laa fi je, meaning, if we do not have someone on a forum (panel), if you share a winning story, you will lose. So why run in a maze with a troll? I am Yoruba, every of their antics are principle of life to me, and you cannot disgrace me in the issue of my ancestry, take it or leave it.

I do not hate challenges o, what I hate is a man who argue out of sense. If I don't believe what you believe, does that call for taking me for a fool and a madman? Or who are you referring to in a creepy way?

What you are doing is Spreading falsehood about Yoruba people, and your Hebrew-Yoruba claim will remain falsehood until you provide proof to back it up. At least I've asked u to provide the linguistic, cultural or historical records that link Yoruba ancestors to be Hebrews of the Bible..you get angry and frustrated acting like a child spewing thrash
Since you believe that Yoruba emerged or evolve from Ile Ife, did I ever ask you to give me the evidence of their evolution and a living-proof of your beliefs? So, what are you challenging me for? Are you some sort of an umpire in what you cannot possibly explain? Am I here to please you to achieve something?

Again, my ancestors did not come from Ile Ife, simple. They came from "Iseri" or "Orun": my ancestral record is sacred to me, not "Yoruba myth". So do not force me to become a disciple of this myth, i know its important to you, it is allegory of the black hole in nebula...

I am not frustrated ooo, you cannot frustrate me o. My bible tells me, cast not your pearl unto swine...Your thoughts have changed many times on this forum, on this Yoruba issue, but for so long, my point has never changed, you understand my argument perfectly. I don't understand yours, its irrelevant to me.

why don't you put me to shame by providing the proof? Are you going to put it in a book? I look forward to your book

I don't have multiple monikers, it's actually you that does...how's ur ladionline account going?

And yet he replied undecided WTFhuh
Sorry if I have misunderstood you. The name-calling can be offensive you know.

See, U speak of Yoruba in golden colors, don't be critic on the Igbo thread. Respect their privacy. +Bear with the little I share.

I haven't been so keen on him but I think you are right. I have heard of a new book by Ngugi, well, not too new but most recent. Ill hunt it down. I always find literature more interesting after someone recommends it.
I do too, literature was part of the building block of my consciousness. I read stories like: The boy slave, The Return of Shettima, King Solomon's Mine, the Black Hammit, Ivanhoe, The Adventure of Tom Sawyer. Hm, So long. You will enjoy any of these anyday.

Facing mount Kenya is a story of kikuyu culture,

Thats a recent one right? I will look for it, if you say its that good.
I rather say I must learn from you: maybe a book like that is a figment of my imagination if you aren't aware of it, can't always trust on memory you know. But I pick that phrase up from somewhere. Can't recollect now.

bros,i love this your comment...but let's imagine this scenario, you were minding your own business on a particular day, when someone you have always been on talking terms with threw dirty and insultive remarks at you,you decided to keep malice with such person in order to avoid a reoccurence, hasn't malice been put to good use then?
Thats what I may do, I will ignore the fellow, but we'll also reconcile if he's repentant.

Thats so cool,

I feel you. Ngugi wa thiongo? He is good. Din't know he made an impact so far. Some of his books were banned here during his hey days, for political reasons. Kenyatta was a good writer, narrator. His expression of culture..priceless.

I am intrigued by the likes of the late Chinua Achebe. His arrow of God and Okonkwo made a lasting impression on my generation. He had a way with African stories,
Ngugi Wa thiongo was my best author. Read Achebe a little. I know Jomo Kenyatta wrote 'facing mount Kenya'. Havent read any of his works. I love Ngugi's 'homecoming' so much. Very insightful literary criticism of African authors.

As for me, follow peace with all men, and be of good cheers. Endure the correction and or persecution by others, done in genuine spirit of truth seeking or common good. But deal ruthlessly with whoever tryna make a sport outta humiliating you with silly emoticons and the likes. Don't try to win haters by loving, hate is their obsession, and don't feed them with answers, it will burn them down being irrelevant to you.

Thanks. I think you do too,

Am Kenyan. You are Yoruba?
Yes I am Yoruba, a Nigerian. I love Kenya alot. I have spiritual connection with that land and her people (kikuyu/Agikuyu/Luo, Massai) thru Ngugi Wa thiong'o. I lived in his stories as a kid, and I found inspiration by him to 'Africast' and write. Oh poor Njoroge, heroic Boro, defiant Mr. Howland and Jomo Kenyatta, the mysterious mau~mau African liberator. Africa, it is not yet uhuru!
