nelsenhenry: Coming to social media to discredit a company is not the right thing in most cases. A company cannot get it right all the time cos there's a margin for error in humans. Yes you might have bought goods from aliexpress,eBay, Amazon and the likes and had a favourable experience. There still are a lot of people who will tell you never to patronize those stores because of their personal experience.
Just like a lot of people have mentioned did it ever come across your mind to read their terms and conditions before clicking buy now? Every promo has got this and so does the store website in itself.
I for one have shopped on konga.com for quite a number of time and u will be marvelled at what extent customer representatives can go to get your issues resolved (some lazy ones don't care*). My only issue came on an order that got stretched with delivery time this was just over a week. I asked their reps on twitter to ask the desk reps put a call to me cos I wasn't even ready to spend my airtime on them. In about twenty minutes a Rep called and I complained about my order which they promised will be delivered. Then they explained it was out of stock. When it was back online the price increased I waited to see what will happen then I got an email saying my order was cancelled.. I was vexed and I went back to twitter requesting a call concerning my order.. Few minutes later I got another email saying my new order had been verified. In two days I got my purchase and a surprise 1500 wallet credit fine kings to say thanks for my patience.
My experience like I pointed out earlier does not give room for a person to say they are the best store ever. Therefore a bad experience should not make you soil a company's image.
Lastly I will say approach the customer service civilly. I believe they would have a bank payout option like is done on konga. If not their terms and conditions must have provision for situations like this. Make them know you know your right after you have ascertained what your right is from their terms and conditions. Soiling them will only reduce competition for other stores. Approach them like you are helping them as much as they will be helping you. I really do hope you get your refund or same product. (All for a better online shopping experience )
It baffles me when people are still referring to Ts and C's that have now been breached. Any Ts and C's that provides for a voucher refund if a product that was indicated available online, labelled "dispatched" to customer and later labelled "out of stock" for same customer, IS A FRAUD. Ask your legal advisers.

I think the prob wit naija is that ppl dodge from calling a spade a spade. We show too much feelings and pity for the wrong things. How can anyone say this issue isn't worth giving a bad review cos it'll spoil their business. Even Tesco, M&S etc have gotten bad reviews, which they took with extreme caution, contacted reviewer(s) by all means, rectified problems and prevented more, and also put measures in place to provide better services. They buckled up. So, a bad review is not necessarily to tarnish an image. It's to make the organisation look further inward and fish out the bad eggs in their company that are causing customers to be sad.

This issue is a simple one. What does it take to refund the money in cash (am not been asking for extra "we're sorry for the mistake" voucher to be added)huh If u care about ur reputation and your competitors, then you should do things that will put u ahead of the game. That's business techniques.

So pls let's stop all these "it's not fair" , "it's not enough to come on social media and tarnish their image", "they are humans and can't be 100% perfect" hullabaloo. Only lazy business people settle for anything less than perfection. A typical biz man with focus strives to be better than the best. That means setting your target in services above 100% and not seeing 99% as a limit to excellence.

Chidx: hi, good evening.

please i really need an answer asap because i am totally bothered.

i got a visa for a conference. i had plans of staying a while later after the conference for tourism. Now i have reasons why i cannot make the conference. Will i be allowed entry on the basis of tourism, with this visa a week after the conference has been held?

conference is aug 20 - 23. i am going august 30th
Yes you can! Afterall, your visa should read B1/B2. That means business and Tourism.

UnknownT: Some people will never learn. I believe you are not new on nairaland and you most have seen some online shopping complaints making front page and you still went ahead to pay without the pay on delivery option? I believe a part of you went ahead with that deal waiting for this to happen, so you can come on social networks and tell your stories. Goodluck as you embark on your #JumiaRefundMy#69000 campaign
Not true, n not fair... Guess you have read each and every single post on nairaland and if care's not taken, on the whole internet. Sometimes, experience opens your eyes to what you've been missing out on. Now poster may go back and read poor reviews of jumai online and that's only because he's been hit. You will do same if it wer u.

Laredojohn: Hmmm really bad experience, sure their terms and conditions would have stated that money paid can b replaced with shopping vouchers , that no refund, we naija peeps dnt read terms and conditions, anyway Konga is no difference, the only diff is that your money will not get stocked the more u chose pay on delivery, ordered a generating set that shows in stock on konga website, they call normal that it will be delivered 5 days later..all I get next is the moment its the third or fourth day the order is cancelled due to unavailability, check the website the next min its still displayed as available..those sites are just mordernized scammers .
Unfair to say the bolded, especially when you yourself don't read what the poster has read and reason it.
Poster said he made a purchase during a sales/promo period. Though they claimed it was already out for despatch, days later, they come back to say its out of stock AFTER the promo has ended. That therefore nullifies any terms and conditions stating a refund with voucher cos in this case, the customer neither receive his order nor voluntarily cancelled the order. Who does thathuh
In fact, if this is true, Jumai needs not only refund his money but also give him a consolation voucher, no matter how small, to save the so called business reputation an earlier poster was talking bout. That's how to do business.
BusinessRe: My Online Shopping Experience With Jumia by 3sha4lyf: 10:33pm On Jul 03, 2014
Dee60: I suggest you try some other approach, possibly going to their office. Trying to de-market a brand on social media can rob that company of important goodwill. Remember that it takes a lot to build reputational capital and anyone in business knows this. Jumia does well 99% of the time and that is good enough. They are humans remember.

I know how you feel being tossed around but please remember that you could be in Jumia's shoes tomorrow. Who would not want to be as successful as them.

I think it is next to impossible for any company to get it right 100% of the time.

Please calm down.
If you spend 100% of your time building your reputation and 0% on managing it! then you've wasted your business time. Sometime businesses need to be defamed before they sit up. Have heard so many absurd reviews about jumai, even with recruitment. But then, my pity is for the owners because I think, and I stand to be corrected, it's the staff that ruin the great initiatives the owner put in to set up jumai. Annoyingly, when customers run from jumai, jumai folds up, these same people wld seek employment elsewer, get employed based on stupid "previous experience" and begin to plummet that company to liquidity.

Pls @ poster, take that voucher to EFCC or the consumer right protection... Can't remember what they are called in naija but they really do work. It's crazy to give someone a voucher for that amount. That's ludicrous. The manager who okay end that, as well as the person who sent u that mail must be jailed.

If you need any help, tell me. #SaharaReporters must be looking for news like this. wink

Buttergrey: Carotein hydro-toning lotion is a natural, gentle and safe to use. You can mix it with any Kojic acid serum and/ or Carotein Lightening and Fading gel cream and it'll be more potent.

G&G oil is great for harn-to-lighten areas such as knuckles and knees

Want only the original products? hit us up at http://buttergrey.com/personal-care/ or buttergrey@gmail.com
True. But yeah, the G&G oil ur talking about, is it the pink one? If it's the red one, well that's a #BringBackDarkKnucles oil. I'll rather suggest the pink oil, mixed with the cream and with some KA serums. That will exfoliate better and prep the skin for lightening.

Ooopsie! I can imagine how annoying it would have been for u. Remember how my own student visa application decision took 6 months after submitting at the VAC at Zenon house dat year. I saw Oba daily! Went to Walter carrying ton every month and got the usual "it's not yet out" response at the gate. Almost withdrew my application but den luckily I got it at the 6th month, and that's after my uni start date had elapsed by 5 months. Crazy! But I was thankful.

ifax: I know abuja vfs staffs are rude. and they almost never give change ( the bank implant and the photocopier). Hopefully they'll sack vfs from operating abuja and ikeja as well undecided
If that be the case, I hope the really do. I hope it's not gonna be same staff different management cos it's gonna be the same #BS they'll give to customers. Annoyingly, the staff never think that their contracts can end sooner so they do anyhow, knowing that even if it ends, they move on to another job with "VFS visa attendant" written on their cvs. New employers will now suck in the garbage all in the name of "previous experience". Smh.

Teleperformance ltd is the new company that will manage visa applications at VACs in Naija from 1 July 2014. That means lekki office don close and a new VAC is opened at VI and ppl would be expected to register with them (Teleperformance) to book an appointment at VI after filing ur online application otherwise ur appointment may be delayed.

Better for them. Vfs may not have been offering good service to them or meeting the targets outlined in their contracts. Just saying.

orelia: Hello
Does anybody have an idea if the VFS in Ikeja follow the appointment slot when an application is made online
I was meant to submit my visit visa this morning and for one reason won’t be able to make it, I have checked online and there’s no where to change the appointment
Please I’ll appreciate any information with recent experience of submission at the centre in Ikeja centre
Hey, look what I found on the FAQs @ https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/Home/ViewFAQ
I have missed my appointment, what can I do now?
If you made your appointment through one of our partners directly, i.e. VFS, you can rearrange your appointment. Please see the guidance for your appointment country at: https://www.gov.uk/find-a-visa-application-centre . If you made your appointment within your online application you will need to make a new application.

You may not nee to pay again if you make the new application via the same account you used to make the missed appointment application. This is what I think. I may be right or like blank says, I may be wrong. Just try waiting 24-48 hrs, if nothing appears, make a fresh app on the same account. If it asks you to pay, you pay. Otherwise, you just reschedule.
CultureRe: Africa: Is It Time To Put An End To Traditional Wedding Rites? by 3sha4lyf: 2:12pm On Jul 02, 2014
lawkenoz: Where you got it wrong bro was where you said the white wedding isn't a white mans thing, claiming its a christian thing. You obviously don't know history, Christianity isn't culture and did not create the white weddings.
Marriage is an agreed union between couples (family members inclusive), you got it right when u said Jesus attended a traditional wedding ceremony, but not because it was what was attainable then. Marriage is carried out in different modalities by different cultures, religion only comes into marriage based on how a husband and wife should treat each other after being married by their cultural standards e.g husband love your wife, wife love your and be sub missive to your husband. It doesn't dictate on how marriage should be carried out or performed, traditions are responsible for that.
The white wedding is the white mans way of doing marriage, they started practising xtainity early so as a result adopted their marital pattern into it. On bringing the religion to africa they also brought that style of wedding to us, trust our girls as usual, because of the reception show off they fell in love with it head over heels.
A pastor should attend the traditional union of his members and bless them there if need be. Only If your religious enough to want to do a white wedding then its your choice, but mind you its not a Christian wedding! Its a white mans wedding. The presence of the pastor there is just to bless and bear witness to the union as a man of God! He could do the same in a traditional wedding!
In life,I've learned to make excuses for reasons why things happen; that way, you save yourself from the hassles of arguing whats right n whats wrong. I said "Oh yes, pls people should stop taking white wedding for its name. I wanna think that it's actually Church/Christian wedding but done with the bride wearing white, not necessarily that it's the white man's tradition." It means i agreed its white man's tradition, but should not be seen as so but as some church/christian occasion where the bride wears white. That way, we no go fight put on top of the matter. If you didnt see it this way, i apologise for misconstruing the info.

As for the bolded, even men use it to boost their ego and show off. Lol
Let's not deviate from the mata.
Poster asked is it time to end trad wedding rites, i'll say no, BuT to the extent that the rites themselves are checked somhat those rites wont turn to extortion. smiley

kofoshi: Please excuse me, my English comprehension can be rustic at times. When you say N220k in both accounts, by that you do not mean n220k in each individual account but cumulatively - right? It seems so clear but I confuse myself sometimes. cheesy

Interesting though that all evidential information provided was exhaustive but the caveat, which is the further information part was left stark in b's application. C claims that she included details of A sponsoring her application but she only submitted letter from UNI stating she was a student. She submitted nothing more than this and her ID card. Apparently, there is no such thing as attendance details in Unilag or so C claims so there is uncertainty about how this requirement will be met.

I have suggested to the family that they reapply but whether imputing 200k into their accts will not be suspicious is another kettle of fish. A is still not herself as she really wants her only surviving parent to be there for her big day.
I'm bring so careful so I'm not mistaken for a T/Agency but there's only much I can say.
Your comprehension is fine; it's my opaque explanation. I apologise. Approx. 220k in the applicant's account, say 220k in B's account AND/OR C's account. Depending on who's applying.

I think B should apply. But A should write the sponsorship letter to state the extent to which B will be sponsored. And yeah, I forgot I didn't read "itinerary" on the included supporting docs. Very important too.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by 3sha4lyf: 12:22pm On Jul 02, 2014
kofoshi: Once again, I thank you for your time.

May I as though that in your opinion, and having had similar experience, how much would you suggest might be sufficient to show in 'B's account? Indeed 60k is insuuficient(grossly so) but what is deemed sufficient is still unclear-at least if they had a circa to work with, that might help. Furthermore, injecting new cash into the account to prop it will be highly suspicious. For this reason, can 'A' undertake the sponsorship solely despite hr been in full time education? She is willing but unsure if students are allowed to support invites. Or must B and C show some funds in all corners?

I thank you for your anticipated response.
It's a Trickie one my friend.
On the one hand, B and C need to show ability to return to "something" in naija, hence the "strong ties" rubric. For B, it may not be highly required cos B is a pensioner. C is a mature and so may b required to meet this.

Tell you what, yeah, B and C can operate their accounts AS usual, funding and withdrawing as they have done previously. The ECO isn't bothered bout this. What they are against is making non-coherent transactions in the account. Eg. If you usually have 50k deposits in ur account, u now make 1m all of a sudden AND you can't xplain what job or lottery gave you that money, in your VAF. To the ECO, that's lodgement to deceive the ECO.

Let's not talk much, I think B and C should hold at least the equivalent of the cost of a return ticket today plus change of flight fee. Invariably I mean approx. NGN220k in both accounts. More, the better, slightly less, fair enough.

As long as A gets her documents from uni right, C same, A adds detailed letter of sponsorship, that's fine.
Remember that if B or C doesn't reapply before the grad, grad invitation will no longer be a valid reason for travel and A's invitation to B or C won't be regarded.

B and C should choose who will be better off present at the grad, IMO, B is better cos little requirement needed. B should also add her pension, shares certificates, etc. Major thing is that added info section. Best to write precise explanations der.

Emm...that's as much as I can think for now. HTH

Easy dear, I just tried to "sit on the fence" concerning the poster's issue. I don't agree to abolishing trad weddings, because it's our culture. What I suggest is a "continuos check and balance" on the traditional wedding routine because people use it as a money-making event. I may be wrong as well

solelymade: May I also add dat d bride price(most times an insignificant sum) in most cases is returned back to the couples in the SW and wen not returned is shared amongst all family members of d bride along with the other items brought along 4 d marriage rite and a confirmation of the family's support for the union. Anyone not in support of the union does not partake in the sharing of the lot. Thus, after collection and blessings, it is the collective responsibility of all individuals that partook of the sharing to see resolution of any conflict and confusion that may arise in the new home and also the celebration of it successes. And 4 dos saying it's the reason the husband maltreat his wife, kindly accept u married d weird person. I fit pay 100billion 4 my wife.
But abeg make una dey pity d groom sha
Very true... Whosoever shares in the bride price should be ready to resolve conflicts ahead, if any. But I hope they really do. Ehm... 100billion? Ok I get the point... 100billion = I can do ANYTHING for my wife. (cos that 100 billion, hmmmm. Even ur wife go vex sef say you pay that money away instead of giving it to her, since ur Om'ego 1). Yes they do... If you show up on a date other than your appointment date, you may be refused entry into the VAC.

That being said, you might wanna wait 24hrs for the system to reset. If that doesn't sort the probs, you might wanna ring VFS and/or UKHO to sort it out. Alternatively, mail'em. That's all I can suggest. May be right/wrong, but you can only try, or someone on the forum can help as well

First of all, people amaze me when they insult the poster. The title of the thread ASKS a question... "IS IT TIME...?
All y'all needed do was answer yes or no and give reasons not insulting the poster and not even having any contribution to make towards the post. I see so many immature empty minds on NairaLand...

Next, I think we need to understand the verity of trad marriages. While they are potent in their own standings, the concept of bride price has been nicely laced with bitter "wedding rites list" that MUST be provided by the groom before the bride price is accepted. What sense is it to say "I'm giving you this piece of land for free but you must do so-so-so-and-so and pay up to 25Million for the land to be yours"? Bride price is 2kobo yet the list of things for the rites include cost of 1% of CBN. It's tradition but it has to be revisited, maybe NOT abolished.

Also, ppl should remember that ppl reverend their religion, be it traditional, Christianity, moslemic (if ders a word like that) etc. So please don't expect a pastor to come say the grace over a trad wedding, the same way u won't expect igwe, Oba or sultan to come and give trad rites at a church wedding ... Oh yes, pls people should stop taking white wedding for its name. I wanna think that it's actually Church/Christian wedding but done with the bride wearing white, not necessarily that it's the white man's tradition.

Again, each leader needs to respect the other's authority. If I do Church wedding, my people should respect I'm now legally married. If I do traditional wedding, my church community eg pastor, should respect that I'm married and can now live in union with my spouse as a married couple. Likewise if I do court. Mind y'all, Jesus attended a traditional wedding at Cana. That's true, but that was the only type of marriage existing den. Also remember that before then, God conducted a garden wedding in Eden. That was the only type of marriage then, maybe.

So if our culture says we gasto do at least two of them, I think what should be checked is the greed-factor in all of them. Guess every institution, pastor o, chief o, court Marshall o, they all get some money from each marriages else they won't bother if a couple decides to do other forms of marriage.

That's my take.

Congratulobia....this leads me to reiterate that the bulk of work in US visit visa application should be done during your application online. It's den assessed PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED INTERVIEW and a decision is made (which is somewhat semifinal). It's during the interview that you give the VO reason to believe they are right/wrong to issue u a visa or they are right/wrong to deny you in the pre-interview stage.

Best thing is keep your response brief and precise. Always remember the watchword KISS-A-SOP
K eep
I t
S hort
S mart
A nd
S traight
O n
P oint.

At least, it's easy to remember. No need for long talk when you say things like "you wanna experience the beautiful city of NY, you wanna know the nice people of LA, etc.". Those statements, IMO aren't called for and are "No-No" statements.

Best of luck to every one applying AND entering the US.

Also hoping as USA lost in last night's football match, they'll not pour their anger on [new] applicants. Applicants no be referee na. Lol.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by 3sha4lyf:
kofoshi: No she didn't submit her tax certificate as I doubt that her' sis a registered business. Her balance as I understand it was 60k and she is a pensioner who owns her own house and subscribed to shares in a number of companies.

More so shouldn't regard have bee given to the account of the UK child? She claims that her invitation letter detailed her responsibility for their welfare and accommodation during their stay.
Hi, I'm not JW but I can't help but respond to this...

Basically, visa application shld be treated somewhat like a cover letter. If I understand ur plight, your cousin A , unemployed and living in rented apartment in the UK, invited her mum B and sibling C for her graduation comin up in July. "A" included her 6 months bank statements of apprx 5k and tenancy agreement to support "B" and "C"'s applications.

First things first. Was "A" sponsoring the trip(s), either part or fully? If yes, "A" should have written a little letter stating the extent of sponsorship AND "B" and "C" should have reiterated this info in the "additional information" section of the visa application form (VAF). If no, then ignore this as both "B" and/or "C" ought to have had sufficient balance to cater to the trip.

Next. There is nothing wrong with someone sponsoring her family member, say with a balance of GBP5k. My sister invited and was sponsoring my PARENTS AND 3 OF OUR SIBLINGS for her graduation, not yet working then, and she didn't have up to 5k though my parents had some substantial monies in their account to show they can still sort themselves out for a day or two, shuld their sponsor run out of money. Two of the siblings were refused (it's their own minor-turned-major errors) but the other three - parents and one sibling - were given. When I visited home, I saw the error, cajoled them to reapply AND CORRECT the error, and one of them was granted visa; the other couldn't be bothered to reapply. What was the error? Sibling put "still a student, graduating XYZ date." on VAF. Siblings letter of identity from uni stated that sibling had graduated and is awaiting the next batch of NYSC. Conflicting info.

Your cousin and/or aunt might wanna reapply (if they still wanna attend the graduation) and correct the issues raised by the ECO. Also, pls note that there are NO administrative reviews for decisions on visit visa application. Administrative review is for PointBased category applications. What she "C" should be more concerned about is getting enough supporting documents from her uni to show she's currently enrolled in the said uni, has an attendance of about 80%, and will return to continue studies after the trip. If she's a final student, a letter indicating posting for NYSC might suffice.

Note: 60k (if in Naira) is rather too small to cater to transportation to & fro uk, let alone sponsor an additional person. Your cousin and aunt might wanna apply separately at different times, for a different reason (since grad is July , using grad may be invalid after July). "b" also need to write further info about how she gets monies e.g. Thru pension and/or he business, and include supporting documents for it. Shares cert. should be included as well.
Remember the "additional supporting" section. Use it well like a cover letter and explain all explainables, refer all referrals to appropriate supporting docs provided, include accurate supporting docs, and that's it. The ECO rarely goes through ALL the documents provided except they are requested in the VAF to read those letters in details to support your application. So even if sponsor writes a letter of sponsorship to the ECO, if it's not stated in the applicant's "additional supporting info" section on the last page, the ECO may not read the sponsor's documents in details or access the application to that extent. Little wonder u find people with laudable sponsor accounts denied and then their denial letter talks of how they (applicant) may not be able to support themselves during the trip and may resort to public funds. Then you ask the question "didn't the ECO see that applicant is BEING SPONSORED" or "can't ECO read?"

That being said, If I've misunderstood your plight, forgive me and just ignore this my post. But in all, I hope this helps.

One thing I've discovered about this American embassy, and I think it's just their style of processing visa applications, is that the most important thing in the process is your application which you put thru online.
A decision is made from your application online, PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED INTERVIEW. It's during your interview you are given a chance to either prove the Visa Officer's decision as right or wrong. This is unknown to you the applicant.

No need for long talk when you say things like " you wanna experience the beautiful city of NY, you wanna know the nice people of LA, etc.". Those statements, IMO aren't called for and are "don't say" statements.

Ok one update for the House.
Partner's brother applied for visit visa to attend partner's graduation in July.
He's a biz man (SME), and he submitted the following.
1) application form duly signed,
2) company memo of association
3) invitation letter from partner
4) company letter if incorporation
5) company account
6) personal account
7) marriage certificate
cool birth certificates of both him and partner to shoe they are blood but different family names.
9) a photo with partner.
10) support letter from HIS Company stating other board members unequivocally agree for him to assess company funds during his trip.

Notice, NO TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE WAS SUBMITTED (That's not to say partner's brother has or doesn't have tax clearance cert).

His visa was Granted within 7 days. And did I add, he's a first time traveller... never been to Seme border, talk more of Ghana or even Middle East... just chasing business here n der.

Lesson learned, AS USUAL, every application is treated in its own merits. You need to make good use of the "additional info to support your application" section (write on a fresh page if need be).
Don't abbreviate or summarise info expecting the ECO to use his number 6; at the same time, refrain from lengthy explanations. The ECO is too busy to read a 5-lines sentence; ain't nobody got time for that.

In all, we are happy and looking forward to July grad. Yippee. Best wishes to all applicants, graduands, etc.

Welcome back NairaLand[ers]. smiley

moneyes: QEI(+) contains hydroquinone I believe (correct me if am wrong) so its a hazardous choice. I'm caramel colour, not fair and never wanted bleaching. An even complexion and an even smoother skin however į§ what I like. I've tried a few stuff but got the best results with natural shea butter(ori) and Ambi complexion cleansing bar
PLEASE I'M JUST CURIOUS. Which of the QEI+ has HQ? The one made in Naija abi the one made in US and distributed by a company in Paris? Please do a confirmed research. I'm on QEI+ carrot line regimen and I saw progress I.e skin repair within 10 days... HQ would just lighten you without repairing skin damages
