owee: Thanks.
I am yet to commence the ECA. Don't I need to have obtained my ielts results first? As boldinc rightly stated, start your ECA process immediately. That should have even come first... |

owee: Hello everyone. I am new here. I have read a couple of the pages(from 0). I admire the camaraderie and assistance going on here. Just took the first by writing the IELTS on 29/07. Looking forward to a lot help during this journey. Nice one! Please keep reading so as to be empowered. Information is power! By the time you are through, you will discover that you won't have to ask much questions, if any. Hope you have commenced the process for your ECA? All the best. |

IykeD: I thought as much too but I just wanted the ECA to have my middle name as it is on my international passport.
The scenario is like this:
My Passport is: AAAAAA BBBBBB CCCCCCC My ielts TRF is as on my passport: AAAAAAA BBBBBBB CCCCCCC My BSc Degree is: AAAAAAA BBBBBBBB CCCCCCCC My Evaluated Certificate (MSc) is: AAAAAA BBBBBB My ECA report is same as it is on my MSc: AAAAAA BBBBBB But I wrote them to include my middle name so now it is: AAAAAAA BBBBBBB CCCCCCCC
I just wanted almost all of my documents to tally with my passport but now I am looking at it from another angle. I am thinking of writing them again to remove the middle name. Just confused at this juncture! If I were you, I would take a dive into the pool already! A LOE should take care of the name. I can't see an issue here at all. |

debbiejosh: The express entry that you applied through excludes Quebec from the FSWP.
It states it expressly that if the interest is Quebec, go through their route.
I really don't know why, but you would also be told the same by ICRC.
Your COPR goes a long way, and since Quebec is out of the arrangement, why should they be the one to stamp you in, moreover they Only have the capacity to receive new Immigrants on their program.
Subsequently, after being a PR, I have landed in Quebec. Please, can you throw more light on how you achieved the bolded? I thought that you would need CSQ before you can reside there... |

CoCoLav: Depends on what you are into...
If you are into travel, BMO has a nice air miles package on their credit card
If you are into movies, Scotiabank is bae for free movies.
If you are into customer service, TD bank is it.
You can also chill till TD bank does their annual Samsung Tab free gift for new customers.
I would recommend visiting the site redflagdeal.com/forums to learn about rent, the best banks, tips/tricks/scams, companies to avoid working for, taxes, your rights as an employee, your rights as a tenant or homeowner, mortgage taxes, daycare etc. @bolded When is this done during the year? Somebody wants to know |

Zibah14: Hi everyone
I've been a silent follower of this thread since i discovered it some weeks ago and i must say it has been very fascinating (sometimes scary ) reading the posts of my dear seniors here .
@blackbuddy , thanks a lot for being such an encourager on this forum. Please i need your advice seeing as i also have a banking background (core operations-settlement). I already have my visa and copr and would be coming to toronto in january. My greatest worry now is getting a job when i land. I'm coming alone and would be staying with family friends, but i would like to find my feet as soon as possible as i wouldn't like to overstay my welcome. Could you please advise on courses i can take or things i can start doing right now that would make it easier to get a job when i land in january? I would really appreciate a response please. I wouldn't mind other people's input too (not just @blackbuddy). Please help a worried sister Thanks. I am still awaiting COPR but let me share what I have done: I followed all the "Big 5" banks in Canada-Bank of Montreal (BMO), Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank), the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), and Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD)-on Linkedin. I noticed that quite a number of Nigerians are working in these banks. Next is to send connection requests to some of them incorporating the strategy suggested by @Blackbuddy. On professional certifications, I am still researching CSC. Let us hear from our landed immigrants. |

Blingyrie: Thank you big bros. Pls what are the required forms to fill along for d passport submission?? Don't worry! The "Ready for Visa" email (aka PPR) will give detailed instructions on what to do next e.g. completion of the IMM8 form, Height and Eye Colour Chart, 2 passports photo in white background for each family member, a printout of the mail itself, etc |

maternal: What exactly do you want to know. I know the city inside and out. Thank you. I would like to know more about; -Cost of living, -Housing costs, -Daycare/schooling for kids and -Opportunity for jobs Background: We initially chose Ottawa for a number of reasons but concerns about the availability of jobs made us to second-guess this decision and take a look at the Greater Toronto Area, particularly Mississauga. However, after reviewing the factors that I listed above, we consider it wise to start small in a medium-sized city and grow from there. We are not ruling out moving to a bigger city in the near future for better opportunities, but we don't want to start up where our settlement funds will be exhausted quickly as new immigrants while we are trying to secure jobs. Thanks in advance for your kind response. cc: salford1, TheCongo2, Blackbuddy, Fusion23, Gymme |

salford1: For new PR's.....
Just drove off to see my mechanic for an off-warranty maintenance work. For all those types of job...i usually drive 30min away to a shop in NE Calgary... i wanted a change, so I called shop located 5min from home to get a quote. I wanted to replace a timing belt, serpentine belt and oil change. i got a quote of $900 .. ,i quickly called my regular shop in NE, and they offered to do the same job for $600. $300 savings! It's always nice to call around for quotes to get a good deal.
Try to avoid mechanics that work in their garage from home. There are lots of them on kijiji. They would charge very low but your car might be butchered, and you wont be under the cover of consumer protection agencies. Thanks bro for sharing this. Imagine how much one would save if most maintenance work can be done on DIY basis. What other skills do you think would come in handy, especially for new PRs? |

Kontagious: In as much as i'd love to answer your question, i'd rather give an advice. There are about 700 pages on this thread, try read just about 2/3rd of the thread and you'd be over informed but if you can read all, you'd be glad you did. That's if you are serious about what lead you to this thread.
Sorry to say but your question is too mundane. If you can ask this, then be sure there are several other questions you'd still ask which have been over-flogged. You'd learn useful information you might need if you take the pain to read through the thread. On a second thought, evaluate your highest degree. 1,000 likes @dupyshoo Glad to have you here. Trust you are fine |
