A question.
Using YUMI, I installed Kali, pmagic, Android, Tails, ubuntu, xp, Windows 7 and 8.1 into a micro SD. Can run the XP as a LIVECD on any system. How can I install programs into LIVECD XP or ubuntu temporarily that would uninstall when I terminate the session?
I don't know about xp. Didn't even know u could run XP as a live cd. No small feat that......

. But if u didn't enable persistent storage partition for the USB stick then all your work will not be stored from any session.

Did u notice any such leftovers?

Meanwhile anecdotally, I have a really Old PC (Intel core2duo with 4gb DDR2 ram) I plunked under my TV at home and use for a HTPC. KODIBUNTU

An external drive is attached to it to store my videos.

After a while I decided to install full OS on it anyway(to download vids directly to the drive using tweaks)

I partitioned and installed windows 7

2 months later when I put on the PC and boot windows I can audibly hear the hard drive cranking and spinning. Random freezes and whatnot

When I boot into Ubuntu 14.04.( I installed unity desktop) the PC is super silent, even the fan rarely spins hard. And works smoothly.

And this is even with Unity desktop. Could have gone with Lubuntu or Xubuntu.

I think I should just install Windows XP or Windows 7 lite in a VM in Ubuntu and call it a day. If I continue booting windows I'm pretty sure either the drive or something else on that PC will give up the ghost soon.

Look sometimes this Linux thing is not mere hype. Ext4 Files stem is light years ahead of NTFS
ComputersRe: Ubuntu Linux by 4llerbuntu(m): 12:49pm On Jul 20, 2015
You know I'm starting to be of the view that FOR NEWBIES
if you have a PC with 8gb of Ram or more the best route to go is to virtualize either OS.

Personally I'd install Ubuntu alone on the drive and install Windows in a VM.

With seamless mode you wouldn't know the difference in a normal windows install.

Or even in a Windows PC with a decent video memory and Ram, just install Ubuntu in a VM.

Install all the addons and whatnot, then attach the network adapter, cards and USB ports directly to the VM.

Hi guys. I heard that installing ubuntu via wubi leads to slight performance issues like slower disk performance and no hibernation (which i don't find really important). What if one creates a separate partition on windows and install ubuntu via wubi into that partition, any difference?
Actually no.

But what version of Ubuntu are you trying to install with Wubi?

If I recall correctly It has been removed from the install CD for a while now and u have to download it separately.

I also believe it does not play well with Windows 8 and u need an old school bios bootloader.

Which means u need to have an older computer, running Windows 7 or lower to use Wubi successfully

Infinix is shipping prerooted phones with xposed?
No.

It's a 'rom'. I was curious if they were able to make real roms so I investigated.

I once tried to build miui roms for a MTK chip, didn't run. So I want to find out if he actually got this to run which would be a major breakthrough and good news for me

Corrupted baseband/nvram

U need another person to backup his nvram and send to you. U restore the nvram to your device with droidtools, then change the imei to those of your device.

Otherwise you flash the stock rom and pray it restores the baseband.

Do you know the OS on MTK devices are SOC and all the 'manufacturers' do is some light skinning and launcher swap?

Do you know MTK does not bother, ever, to officially upgrade their SOC from one android version to another? Do you know their business model dictates that they launch and sell new chips with new OS versions?

So where did you get this untrue gist from? Same thing those ones say for Tecno and Infinix. smh

Ok guys. Thanks. Seems its hardware.

Meanwhile the Roms u guys ported, is it lollipop or u just used launchers and tweaks to make it look like lollipop?

If its just tweaks then the camera and ui are likely to have issues. U will need to decompile system.jar and framework.jar to make some changes.

Or u can just install xposed and use it to make changes to the UI and try install google camera. That is very compatible with camera modes

The Quick Charge feature on this device, is it hardware based or software?

I'm guessing the people who have changed their ROM will be in the position to answer.

When u changed your ROM, did your device still charge very quickly?

If its software based, then it can be ported to other devices!

WebmastersRe: Pls Advice: A Developer Has Refused My Access To The Website Database I Paid For by 4llerbuntu(m): 7:06pm On Jun 23, 2015
pak:
Hosting Server
Hosting services typically belongs to the developer/Solutions provider unless otherwise stated. By default it 'managed hosting' is assumed in instances of businesses like this (definitely , there are exceptions). You are not expected as a client to have unlimited access to the hosting server because for crying out loud, he might even have other clients packed on the same host so why should he allow one client to carry out activities that might not only be inimical to him but to other clients. There are instances that a client might tell a provider to procure a dedicated server on his behalf so he can get full access but frankly, I don't think that is the case her
This is so untrue that it gives one further insight to why you nigerian guys act like the lincoln guy has done.

Did the client pay for hosting?

so where in the terms of contract/payment did you state that you are going to park his website on shared hosting platform managed by you solely?

if this is your normal practice, better stop it.

You should always let clients know this little sticking points upfront before proceeding. Who says the client will want you to manage the site after building it?

there should be no restrictions. ever. you buy each client's domain name and hosting separately. not all these penny pinching, greedy practices.

pak:
Data and/or Database
The data in any given project and REGARDLESS of any agreement that might have been signed before hand belongs to the client. he must ALWAYS be allowed access to his data. You might say but I designed the database and the schema is mine - those are moot points, The data is the clients property, you can not and SHOULD NEVER deny him access to his data, even if he defaults in payments. (of course, I have been a developer for so long and there are work arounds to deal with erring clients) but in explicit terms, you can't deny him of his data
Simple. and this is the sticking point in this relationship. Denial of access to DB on the excuse of "it contains my top secret codes"

pak:
Codes

Unless otherwise stated, the codes (as distinct from the markup) are the intellectual property of the developer. You are paying for a service and not his codes (unless the agreements EXPLICITLY states that the codes were included in the payment).
Unfortunately even the clause highlighted by this developer states explicitly that he has licensed these codes "for this project"

pak:
Even freeware software does not give you rights to their codes. You only have automatic access to codes in OPENSOURCE software arrangements. Question is - is lincolnpix company an opensource organization - I don't think so. And by the way, if you are not a developer, what is your business with his codes ?

I have only once given access to my codes to a client and that's because in addition to paying for my service he also paid for the codes. Infact, the codes were developed specifically for him, such that he had more rights over it than me and he probably could prevent me (the developer) from using it in other projects. But this case is clearly different.
This is not even the problem here. The client has not asked for codes. he asked for access to his DB.

the Lincolnpix guy's real grouse is that his maga has woken up and decided to end the milking scheme. The client is about to transfer the job to another developer and he does not want this, hence the convenient excuse that the DB contains his code.

So he should change the DB to one that does not contain his code and hand over the complete package to the client. Simple.

besides, if he was really competent at this stuff obfuscating his code should not be so difficult to do.

WebmastersRe: Pls Advice: A Developer Has Refused My Access To The Website Database I Paid For by 4llerbuntu(m): 1:56pm On Jun 23, 2015
besides did you disclose any copyright or intellectual property to the client at the point of agreement?

did you make it clear you were going to impose these restrictions?

There's a lot of shit legally wrong with your scenario, off the top of my head there's elements of false misrepresentation and fraud which vitiate that your so-called terms and conditions.

plus there's the small matter of your being required to prove ownership of those 'nuclear' codes.

chai. somebody needs to make good money off your ass.

anyway, big lesson to all. GET A PROPER CONTRACT DRAWN UP for instances such as this.
and it is your right as the person paying for the job to be the one who draws up the contract on your terms. if the plugin 'developer' cannot agree to it, find another.
WebmastersRe: Pls Advice: A Developer Has Refused My Access To The Website Database I Paid For by 4llerbuntu(m): 1:51pm On Jun 23, 2015
and for avoidance of doubt, your rights to the codes simply mean that you can ensure that whosoever you licensed it to cannot transfer or use it in any other project or in any manner whatsoever without your express permission and conditions.

it does not mean that you use it to hold on to other people's property.

You are running an extortion scheme huh huh huh

anyway the fellow is your friend. had it been me you are trying this with you will face court cases and petitions in at least 6 different fora.
WebmastersRe: Pls Advice: A Developer Has Refused My Access To The Website Database I Paid For by 4llerbuntu(m): 1:46pm On Jun 23, 2015
Contrary to what has been said i do honestly believe this is an extortion scheme.

@ lincolnpix,

1. please post where exactly in that contract it is stipulated that you will get periodic fees.

2. You 'licensed' it to them for a one off fee by agreeing to build the website using those codes. A license does not mean that you are entitled to withold access to it permanently except where expressly stated.

where does it state that they cannot have access to their property.

YOU ARE AWARE THAT THE WEBSITE AND EVERYTHING THAT ARE ITS COMPONENTS BELONG TO THE PERSON WHO COMMISSIONED AND PAID FOR IT?

3. Are your codes registered under any license? Or you simply assume that having created it, it belongs to you without more?

4. Do you have any legal documentation to back up your ownership of that code or you simply assume that its only your brain and hands that is capable of producing that in the entire world?

5. what are the sources you used to produce this supernatural code?

are you compliant with the licenses of the things you have used to produce the website?

are you not charging for things covered by open-source licenses that do not permit you to profit from their use?

6. Where in your agreement does it state that you have the right to deny the owner of the website access to his hosting/cpanel?

what you are doing is equal to BMW not allowing a car owner access to open the bonnet of the car because it does not want them to see the design of the radiator.

BEST CASE SCENARIO IS THAT YOU REMOVE YOUR CODE AND DELIVER THE FULLY FUNCTIONAL WEBSITE WITHOUT THOSE CODES. The client never contracted with you for those specific codes. you can as well build the website without those codes. YOU HAVE NOT EVEN FULFILLED YOUR DELIVERABLES

@ Subset, find yourself a good lawyer who knows his way around IT/IP/sofware matters and sue this asshole. You have numerous claims against this fellow, for instance he has not even delivered what you asked for (the website is not even complete yet).
Like i said, he should deliver your fully functional website (and hosting details etc). its not your business if he has put american nuclear codes in it. He was employed as a professional and it was entirely up to him to decide how best to deliver the website. he chose to use those codes not you.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Startimes Wrestles Key Football Rights From Dstv by 4llerbuntu(m): 10:17am On Jun 08, 2015
When HITV won the rights to EPL, They paid for just Nigeria.

The premier league stopped that MENA/Sub-Saharan thing when HITV made them realize they could unbundle Nigeria from the rest and get so much money.

HITV apparently paid more for Nigeria alone than DSTV used to pay for the whole Sub-Saharan Africa rights.

If you recall DSTV was able to show EPL everywhere else in Africa.

Which is also why there is this convoluted process of tier 1 matches, tier 2 matches and being compelled to give one match free to terrestrial TV in each country every week.
