I have often wondered also about this dogma of learning Arabic by rota.

I have heard many Muslim preachers go on about how one needs to be versed in Arabic to be a good Muslim.

which does not make any sense to me.

agreed Islam came from the Arabians. it is inconceivable that for instance the prophet could have propagated Islam in a language other than his native tongue.


but then Islam has gone beyond Arabia into other tribes, cultures and tongues. yet it is universally accepted that Arabic is a must.

surely God does not have a lingua franca? I have heard preachers imply otherwise. in fact I have heard some say that good prayer must be made in Arabic, reciting the Quran only carries multiple blessings in Arabic.

you cannot actually say your daily prayers except in arabic.


but Arabic is a language!!! it was not unique to Islam! Islam met the language in existence. but Islam is only properly practiced in that language?

pretty convenient hunh?

anyway Christians pulled the same stunt with Latin and then English to a lesser degree.


if whatever message the religion shares cannot be given in my native tongue, if I cannot pray in my native tongue then surely that religion appears not to be tailored to my needs.

God CANNOT hear and answer prayers in ONLY one language. that makes little sense. That book must be translateable and the translated words must be acceptable as rota prayer just like the original Arabic.


all these neo colonial ideas wrapped up steep religiosity, why should a sura only be effective in arabic and not in english, Yoruba or Hindi?

all the energy and time u spend learning Arabic by rota should be easier and better spent learning the religion and everything in a much easier dialect. that has been the fundamental difference between the spread of Christianity vs other religions. its much easier to adopt.

I see this FTA/ freebie hacking setup at places where it seems the guys hook up the decoder to a router (that uses a gsm sim card)
Now im not so much interested in the DS*V hacking. not at all. but i see a lot of obscure foreign stations on them, some that interest me.
Now according to my findings (mostly lies i was told i guess) the router/sim card is needed for online access




which leads to my question(s):



1. when that setup is done with a dish outside, is the data connection absolutely vital, as in is it STREAMING over the data?
or the data is just needed to intermittently refresh keys?



2. related to above, what volume of data consumption are we looking at? constant streams going through GBs per day or minor consumption



3. in the event that i am not interested in hacking any pay tv, at least the local ones, of what benefit will this setup be?
will i be able to use it for non-local pay/free tv stations?



4. i understand that some decoders allow you to surf sites like youtube. i presume those will be entirely data driven?
are there also satellite stations on these boxes that are entirely data driven (meaning the dish is not useful?)

How to Disable 'System Program Problem Detected' Errors in Ubuntu


Every now and then, a notification pops up saying "Ubuntu 12.04/12.10 has experienced an internal error" or "System Program Problem Detected" without actually causing any real troubles.

This has everything to do with Apport, a software error/crash reporting tool for Ubuntu (which is supposed to be in disabled state for stable releases). these errors have become more annoying for me. Disabling Apport permanently helped me solve this issue.


Hit Alt+F2 and type the following: gksu gedit /etc/default/apport

Press ENTER afterwards


then change value of "enabled" from 1 to 0 last line

Save and exit.

Do a system reboot. Everything should work fine from now on without those annoying errors

if u leave your area to another, you may find that the mtn or airtel line will have network. that will be because they have 1800 MHZ network around that area.

i know this personally because i used to own a USA samsung phone that got only glo signal. in a bid to make it work, i damaged the phone.

ironically then when i get to computer village, it would see mtn service. immediately i left ikeja, no service until i switch to Glo. they chopped my money weeeellll



in other words your phone will only work on 1800 MHZ. there is no magic that will make it work unless u change the radio antenna of the fone. for that u will go to Nokia factory in helsinki, finland
