Well, this mental illness has reached claiming citizenships of various countries. Coming over to hack sugar cane?Talk about irony Like I said,Cuban education sef. . . . .unless you are born in Cuba, how are you not an immigrant?Never mind the bare-faced lie about being a Cuban citizen. ![]() |
Islander:Are you now a Cuban citizen? Castro pays school fees for some impecunious people to come and study and they start denying their status as immigrants. Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International are now US cousins. . . ."Cuban education" sef. |
Whatever happens,Scholes shouldn't be starting any longer.Anderson and Carrick have stronger claims to a starting shirt than Scholes. The key problem with Scholes is that his mobility is limited. He doesn't cover as much ground as the others and the others still offer a fairly comparable range of passing as Scholes. |
While not overly concerned with virginity,in this case, the woman made virginity an issue by creating the impression she was one. Having done so,she then proceeds, unprompted,to convey a false image of the issue she created.Well,it shows bad judgment and dishonesty on her part.Certainly not something you sweep under the carpet. |
tpia:Stop yarning tosh. There is no evidence that demand for prostitutes is high in those countries. Many men in each nation will always demand for prostitutes, the key thing is whether there are sufficient locals prepared to enter into the trade. Is it because CNN did a documentary of those 2 particular nations, you seem to think they have a unique problem with the importation of prostitutes? Every Western nation imports prostitutes in large numbers. To the extent that there are any differences, its down to the effectiveness or policies of the law enforcement agencies in clamping down on the issue. If CNN does a documentary tomorrow on sex trafficking in Ireland, you will now claim that demand is very high in Ireland. olrotimi:No believe na.Next time when you compare HIV rates in both Nigeria and the West, keep wondering why.The day you will see European prostitutes lining up streets in every major city in Nigeria, get back to me. |
tpia:Because the local women of those countries are not so keen on prostitution. They have greater career opportunities so foreigners from poor countries have to be imported in the absence of local women. What drives women into prostitution is poverty and poor countries always have a teeming supply of prostitutes for exportation. |
Islander:Not only is this factually wrong, its utterly meaningless. The state still monitors religious activities and religious freedom is restricted as has been variously noted here and here. No where will you find the Catholic Church or any of the major Christian denominations in Cuba ever claiming that Cuba has religious freedom. The reverse has always been the case. As Human Rights Watch put it: Pope John Paul II's January 1998 visit to Cuba fostered hope that the government would ease its repressive tactics and allow greater religious freedom. The papal visit provided a unique opportunity for public demonstrations of faith in a country that had imposed tight restrictions on religious expression in 1960 and was officially atheist until 1992. Although Cuba refused visas to some foreign journalists and pressured some domestic critics during the visit, the pope's calls for freedom of religion, conscience, and expression created an unprecedented air of openness. But while Cuba permits greater opportunities for religious expression than it did in past years, and has allowed several religious-run humanitarian groupsto operate, the government still maintains tight control on religious institutions, affiliated groups, and individual believers. On a positive note, in November 1998 Cuba approved visas for nineteen foreign priests to take up residence in Cuba.http://www.hrw.org/reports/1999/cuba/Cuba996-01.htm One immigrant's brief stay at the mercy of Castro seemingly overrides the experience of Cubans who have to live in that country for the rest of their lives. |
tpia:Stop being ridiculous. The reality is that unlike Nigerian women, the women of those countries are not as eager as our girls to join the prostitution trade. Its not a demand problem, its a supply problem. Anybody who has visited Nigeria knows you are far more likely to find a prostitute than in the West.So not only is there an "oversupply" of prostitutes in Nigeria, our women have started exporting their trade to other countries were the local women are not keen on joining the trade. |
Ibime:Well,I'm not aware our generation has hit retirement age so you need to brush up your comprehension skills. Is a policy position right merely because "every civilised Govt" adopts it? Never mind what "every civilised Govt" means, are subsidisation policies such as the CAP(Common Agricultural Policy) valid merely because they are omnipresent in the West? Governments know better than to leave people starving - because a hungry man is an angry man, so you better hide behind your electric fences when they get angry. Actually, that is already happening in Naija now. The rich neglected the poor and now the poor are killing them like fowls - either by armed robbers, potholed roads or ineffective bootlegged drugs. Go figure!People starving? If we don't have universal pension coverage, just like the US doesn't have universal health coverage,it wouldn't lead to starvation. The problem in Nigeria isn't about the rich neglecting the poor,as if Westerners are more charitable towards the poor. The problem in Nigeria was the adoption of unsound economic policies that left the country unable to meets its responsibilities to its citizens. Instead of invoking Jesus as a leftist-talk of stupidity-we need to address how pensions have to be reformed to able to meet demographic challenges that the future holds. We can't continue on this path forever. Do you not think the people running these Pension funds are professionals? Can they not do a better job than 95% of ordinary people? That is why I said you have a problem with comprehension. If its an individual's money that is returned back to him from pension funds upon retirement,I have no problem with that.So long as we get rid of this idea that taxpayer's money should go towards taking care of everyone upon retirement. |

toba1909:So because Arsenal dropped points, you are behaving like an emotional pregnant woman. babaearly:No be you do am.Na wetin Villa cause ![]() |
Today is O'Neill's birthday. His boys were bound to make it a special day for him. They have given a good account of themselves no matter how the game ends. What is it about Arsenal's mental backbone that they always find it hard to recover from a thumping from Utd? ![]() |
I have always said that whatever happens this season,Arsenal will finish 3rd behind Utd and and Chelski.Never mind 1st place,Arsenal's best hope is a 3rd place finish.Wouldn't make a difference if they eventually equalise against Villa. |
@Jackal If finishing 4th and trophyless 2 seasons in a row didn't keep Loyika and Chuckdee quiet, nothing else will. I am fully expecting the ref to conjure up something to save Arsenal in the dying minutes, hopefully Villa will hold on though. @nazzyon On the goals difference,we are gradually increasing our advantage.Home and away,we have outscored Arsenal. |
Arsenal will score. The key thing for me is that they drop points.I would take a draw from that game. |
doyin13:Castro himself is an atheist.Religious freedom is severely restricted. . . . .freedom of conscience only exists for atheists.Communists tend to see organised religion as a threat to the state. |
The video is so pointless that its actually funny because of its pointlessness. morenike09:The video fit hold clues to the mysteries of life.Watch am again. |
I see what you mean and obviously they couldnt retain us for long but what do you think would have happened if they stayed like 5-10 more years More positive impact or would it have taken the turn for horrible?
Life would have been better for those years(would have avoided the civil war for instance) but its kind of postponing the inevitable. At some point they would have had to hand over to Nigerian politicians. |
Kobojunkie:Balewa was the Head of State(actually, the Queen until 1963).Power has virtually been held by the North non-stop since 1960,never mind OBJ's 1st stint as a Northern puppet, until 1999. |
We are forgetting something, there are practical problems to retaining Nigeria as a colony.Nigeria isn't one of those small island colonies. Our population outnumbers that of the UK so how would they have handled it?If they gave us full citizenship,it will mean that most Brits will be Nigerians |
Ibime:I can't remember the name of that French island nation that has been rejecting independence. They were agitating for independence along with the rest of us in the 60s,but recently, they changed their minds.
are you sure about that 4Play
It sounded good when I was typing it Free and proud! ![]() |
Ibime:Its because we have a pension system here, its as if we can't do without it.People can be compulsorily required to invest their money. What is most important for me is that any money a particular person receives in his old age comes from money he has saved or invested during his working life not from a central Govt pot. You reap what you sow eventually. The key point you are both missing is that with demographic changes, the current pension system is unsustainable. Its that simple.Unless you want society to be equally poor, its better that most of society reaps the benefits of welfare reforms. This is the problem with 'do-gooding' leftists. They would rather everyone be poorer than some left behind. However, with compulsory measures to ensure savings and investment by the "clueless,"even that worst case scenario can be averted. |
@Kobo Merging the North and the South was a catastrophe for the South. It was our own version of the Nakba. The North is virtually a parasite living off the rest of the country. If we excised the Northern region,we will instantly double income per capita for the South. Merging the 2 regions was convenient for the Brits but disastrous for us. However, during the colonial era we experienced relatively steady economic growth that we haven't seen for ages. The growth we had in the 60s and particularly the 70s was due to a commodities boom that typically fizzled out as soon as oil prices crashed. Economic growth during the colonial era had deeper structural foundations-it wasn't based on a temporary phenomenon such as an oil boom-and many elderly people still wax lyrical of those days. That being said,I prefer being independent and poor than being a wealthy subject of the British Empire. |
4Him:I thought the decision to merge the Northern and Southern Protectorates was unsound but history didn't start there. If the British didn't come in,perhaps the 'Fulani Jihad' would have led to the 'dipping of the K'oran in the Atlantic.' Didn't they make it to Kwara, that is not far from Ogun State. By now,you and Olabowale would have been telling the world about how the Bible was corrupted. ![]() |
Ibime:There are already safety nets for the disabled.Covering the disabled is one thing because only a minority proportion of the populace will fall into that category, whereas, virtually everyone will reach retirement age and covering everyone is financially unfeasible with changing demographics. Plus not everyone is wise with investments. Some people study other subjects like Psychology and Social Sciences and have no clue how to invest their money. The system you guys are suggesting only applies to people who have knowledge of investments. You hand it to people with "knowledge." I read somewhere that ordinary people match "experts" in returns on their equity investment. If it takes introducing "money managment" at school level,so be it. OK- what if you retire just at the time of an economic downturn or recession? Whether you are a guru or not, you will feel the pinch. We are talking of the West. The West has seen virtually unstoppable long term growth for centuries.Even if you retire during a recession-recessions are temporary anyway-the returns you made over the "boom" years should more than cover up. |
The most brutal regimes in Europe were the collectivist regimes of Communist Soviet Union and Hitler's National Socialist Party. If you want Big Govt,Stalin is your man. |
doyin13:Why should the Govt rescue you from making poor investment decisions? You keep talking of the "Govt." The Govt is not a detached self-sustaining entity that plucks money from trees. The Govt bailing you entails taking money from one group of citizens to give to another. Besides, returns on equity over decades rarely disappoint. If you prudently invest your money in equities-various blue chip stocks-over decades, you are almost guaranteed a return on your investment. You can always try one of those mutual funds |
nwando:Not to sound like a M'uslim basher but the people who are most likely to be on welfare are Pakistanis and Somalis. Some of them are collecting-the Govt seems to allow them-for their multiple wives. I read somewhere that 20% of M'uslim women in the capital are claiming one benefit or the other. |
@doyin If you are waiting for the Govt to bail us out in our old age,you are wasting your time. Our generation will have the lowest retired to working age ratio of any era. The key thing is to start saving money now! |
