Was it not in the 70s that Mauritania abolished slavery? During all that time,African member nations of the OAU did absolutely nothing.Neither have they bothered to complain about Sudan. What's the point of an African organisation if they can't act against a member state that condones slavery?

4Him:
I've been desperately looking for a way to blame this on the US or Israel . . . anyone care to help me spot some tiny loophole?
They will probably tell you it is the US and Israel that forced Arabs in Sudan to take Africans as slaves.

nwando:
the thread will soon be deleted.
auxillary arab wannabe's are untouchables.

Slavery is still alive and well in Mauritania
They won't see that one

Their faith is essentially an Arab imperialist movement cloaked in religious garb. Which kind of faith claims that God speaks in one particular language and you must pray to him in that language; in this case Arabic, take up Arabic names, visit the Arab world in pilgrimage, dress your women like Arab women, face Arabia while praying,e.t.c

This is like one of those impotent resolutions they pass regularly in respect of Israel. This won't be the first time such a resolution was passed for Colombia's actions in Ecuador.
PoliticsRe: Slaves In Sudan by 4Play(m): 1:53am On Mar 06, 2008
At least seven South Sudanese have been freed from their Arab abductors after the resumption of an operation to rescue them, the BBC has learnt.

The seven have been taken to a transit camp in the South Darfur capital, Nyala, the head of the operation says.

Ahmed Mufti said the latest operation would seek to free 1,200 people, with the first group going home next month.

Some 8,000 people are thought to remain in slavery after being captured during Sudan's north-south conflict.

The conflict ended in 2005 but the programme to return the slaves had ended in a row over money.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7277189.stm

Where are those "Auxiliary Arabs" especially our M'uslim brothers? If this story was about slavery in the Western world, some people will be foaming from the mouth. What they forget is that the Arabs enslaved 10 to 14 million Africans and are still doing it today. That they even stopped much of the slavery in the first place was because they were compelled by outside military intervention to end slavery. There was no similar Arab abolition movement.

Lets bear this in mind when next some knuckle-head living in the West insists that we must support Arab causes.

Contrary to the popular myths about homosexuality being more prevalent amongst women, studies tend to show that homosexuality is more prevalent amongst men.Check out this excerpt from Wikipedia:
Estimates of the incidence of exclusive homosexuality range from >1% to 10% of the population (though the accepted figure hovers closer to the middle of that range), usually finding there are slightly more gay men than lesbians.

@MC Omo

Are you talking of this season or last season because I can't recall making that prediction this season. Abi,senility don dey set in? huh Maybe na all the Star you don down tonight because of this rare achievement in Europe. grin

Its a good victory but it ultimately means nothing.Defending Champions disappoint in the subsequent season. When was the last time a team won 2 consecutive UCL trophies? Its the nature of the competition. This season,it was Arsenal that finished off the defending champions just like Benfica,Liverpool or Deportivo La Coruna in the previous seasons.

As for my predictions, let me see if I can find the thread but I can vividly recall stating that I felt Arsenal had a very good chance against Milan. So make una dey celebrate but una no dey go anywhere.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by 4Play(m): 1:49am On Mar 05, 2008
Ignoramuses will go on and on about knocking out the defending champions like teenage girls at a Boyzone concert, the reality is that this barely means anything.

Last season, the defending Champions-Barca-were knocked out by Liverpool. The previous season,Benfica knocked out the defending champions-Liverpool.Deportivo La Coruna knocked out Milan-defending Champions for 03/04.Porto didn't even make it out of their group stages, if I recall correctly, as defending champions.

So knocking out the defending champions is as significant as a dog's fartdo dogs even fart?

Will UEFA hand you a trophy for beating Milan? When Arsenal went to the San Siro and thumped Inter, did they win anything? Bunch of boobs.

Are they not the same ones who backed Kuwait when Saddam Hussein tried to invade it and were claiming "Kuwaiti sovereignty"?
Unless you are having a laugh, you do realise that Kuwait wasn't hosting rebels who were launching attacks in Iraq?

You do know that the US is harboring what Cuba calls "rebels" and they do not even claim "neutrality", the US even planned an invasion, "Bay of pigs" ring a bell?
I must have missed the news were American based Cuban rebels launched attacks on Cuba.As for the Bay of Pigs, that was 4 decades ago.

No, it is a violation of the country's sovereignty, even violation of airspace is a violation of sovereignty. And every country has the right to protect their borders.
So also does the country regularly suffering the violent consequences, loss of innocent civilian lives, from the activities of rebels harbored by its neighbor.

so Let's say Mexican rebels have a safe haven in Texas, does Mexico have the right to conduct military operations on US soil?
Sure, subject to certain circumstances, the Mexican govt clearly has a right to intervene in such situations. Respect for territorial integrity is a 2 way street. If one country harbors rebels causing menace in another country, they are obviously not respecting the other country's territory.

@knuckle-head

Who cares where the Chav stations his troops in Venezuela? Not even the Colombian Govt has bothered to respond with a similar mobilisation of troops. If his troops ever cross the border into Colombia, they will be met with a firm response.

The Obama line reiterates a more lucid and thoughtful appraisal of the situation rather than the rabid incoherent guff you spout.

Obama Statement on Recent Events near Colombia's Borders - March 03, 2008
"The Colombian people have suffered for more than four decades at the hands of a brutal terrorist insurgency, and the Colombian government has every right to defend itself against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). The recent targeted killing of a senior FARC leader must not be used as a pretense to ratchet up tensions or to threaten the stability of the region.
http://www.barackobama.com/2008/03/03/obama_statement_on_recent_even.php

This is a measured response that takes cognisance of the nefarious activities of the FARC and as it astutely puts it,"the Colombian government has every right to defend itself against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC)".

This is a clear distinction from the hysterical reactions exhibited by the booboisie.

Obama's wife might prove an albatross particularly in the light of some of her recent comments about being proud of America "for the first time in her adult life."It gave the impression of a woman with a shocking sense of entitlement who only felt proud of her country because her husband was on the brink of political power

Why would anyone ever think she cursed her "heifer of a sister"?

I can see some progress, even Les thinks its shameful to admit that she cursed her mother. That means she recognises the shame in this.My treatment of her is working then. . . better than all this "softly-softly" counseling and medication that has never made a difference to her problems.

On that note,I will continue my therapy(4play style) of Les at a future point. grin
