There is something wrong!
A man does not go to his father in law for fixing. He goes to his own father or himself.
In any case, the father in law does not want to fix him up, he wants to fix only his own daughter up.
I cannot force him to make himself a ladder for another man because the man "claims" to love his daughter.
Love is FREE.

You are correct, I didn't say he shud go there with such expectation from his wud be inlaws bt help comes from anywhere.. many sensible guys have help their babes step up. Bt its not by force

The gal herself shud have been asking the guy what his plans are and how he's actualising them. I didn't hear any such discussion taking place and that's strange.

If you marry this lady will you be able to provide her with the level of comfort she is already used to since she was born?

Love alone is not enough to sustain a marriage these days, money is the main ingredient required!

OP. even you have discriminated against polytechnics people because I'm very sure you have met countless poly girls but chose to go for a university graduate with masters sef.

No poly guy or girl wants to marry a polytechnic leaver yet you guys are the first people who complain about discrimination. Same discrimination you poly leavers are guilty of

My advice to the OP is to look for a fellow polytechnic girl and date as that girl he is chasing is way beyond his level in all ramifications.
I'm surprise this is coming from someone in this country. While as in this same country people without any education marry PHD holders.

Its not about your education, the man just act like God that know future. Bro move on you don't have enough time to be proving yourself to the father and more so he can never change his mind. In addition the girl is ajebo she will not have courage to withstand her dad

I graduated from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
She also graduated from Babcock University.

We both met in 2015 during our NYSC at River State. We serve in the same PPA. She is good, lovely and caring. And to crown it all she is beautiful. I mean so beautiful.

It all started with friendship which later led to relationship. We share so many things together during our time in River State as per what the future holds.

After our NYSC, we both went back to our various base. She is based in Lagos while I reside in Osun. Immediate I finished my NYSC, I got a job with a private organisation as a factory supervisor. But she went further for her Masters in Covenant University, Otta. Despite the distance we still communicate from time to time and at times I do find time to check on her in Otta, while she also do check on me in Osogbo.

After her M.sc, her dad got her a job with a big company in Lagos.

Last year December she came to Osogbo as usual to check on me but fortunately she met my parents and my siblings at my place. They all love and accept her. When she was leaving the next day she told me that her parents told her that they want to meet her fiancé.

12th January, 2020 I travelled down to Lagos to meet her parents. When getting there I met her parents with her only sister. Her dad ask of my parents, state, my qualification and what I do for a living. I told him and immediately he stood up and told me he will never allow his daughter to marry an HND holder.

He said he can't send his daughter to a university & end up marry an HND holder. Never!!! Though my gal is not in support of that, even ever since that time till now she's not her self in that house.
I truly love her and I know she truly love me too. But her parents is the major concern.
Should I call it quit?

Please your advise is needed, what should I do?

With your HND you can apply for a Masters degree to "equalise" so that you're eligible for a bigger job and better pay along the way.
Don't blame him, his daughter's education in top Private universities cost both of them a fortune because he wants her to be a top earner and have a quality life. Your present qualification means you can't reach her level of earnings, sooner or later when she mets bigger boys than you even you both got married she might reach a point where she 'll start looking down on you.
If your are not up to 30yrs old yet, you can still upgrade your qualification now whether for her or for someone else later and you'll be the better for it.

What is wrong if a financially lower man loves and marry a woman above his class? What is wrong?
If we continue on this path and with this mentality, 20 years from now, the society will have far more financially stable women of marriageable age but no husbands of such taste.
Simply because if a man is stable, he brings a struggling woman onboard but if a woman is stable, she either look for a more stable man or rather stay single.
Such a trend will only create a distorted society filled with far more richer women than men. It is not a system that creates a balance rather a one sided system.

Guy I also found myself in thesame situation when i met my wife. We fell in love and was planning for the future. But her father was a proff in the university and she is a BSc holder. As usual her father rejected me on the fact that am a HND holder. But my wife then insisted that i must be me and she moved out of the fathers house and move into mine and told the family that when they are ready they know where to find her. The father had no choice that to give his blessing. But one good thing then was that everyone in her house was in support except the father and also i had a very solid job paying in 7 figures. My dear after that experience i vowed to equal the father in academic level. Today i have 2 Masters. About starting PhD. And today the father doesn't joke with me.
So my dear....it all depends on 2 things. Ur girl and the weight of your bank account.

I laugh at you, "when he is done", so you think he is the only one doing Msc in Chemical engineering that will be rushed with a Shell Manager job once he is done The problem most of you young people have is you listen to inexperienced people like you, you don't take professional advice from seasoned professionals, you prefer to believe what people say not what is happening in reality.

Master degree is only helpful when you have lots of relevant work experience in your field...unless you want to join the inexperienced league of Nigerian lecturers with PhD and no relevant experience, teaching nonsense in Nigerian higher institutions and turning Nigerian institutions to mediocre because they only teach what they read on paper without any real life experiences gained from work.

If you like waste your meagre resources on Msc without work experience, that Msc certificate will lay in your wardrobe as an artifact for your grandkids

Don't call it quit ...go and upgrade yourself . Is a mere challenge. Every parent want the best for their children ...keep in touch with her while u upgrade yourself through part time or any how. Thereafter go back for her ..Another alternative is for you to give her big belle ....that way high bp go kill him papa..,then you can marry both her and her mama ...the choice is yours

Guy don't kill yourself over a woman, perhaps the father knows that you're not financially loaded that was why he was behaving that way.
To me,is not the issue of your certificate but money, I mean real money.

For ur own sake, just leave d girl alone.
Marriage isn't all about love.
You're going to serious conflicts because you're both clearly from different social classes.
For ur peace of mind and hers, pls forget d relationship cos it's dead on arrival.

Read what the OP typed in his story and you'll find out that he is just a factory worker with HND while the girl has first degree and a masters and works in a big organisation in Lagos.

Habba! The two of them no be mate na. If not for NYSC, they would never have met at that kind of social level.

The OP sounds to me like a gold digger. that wants to use the girl to escape poverty and the lady's dad was wise to his conny tricks

The truth is, the man does not like you in person and for him to have regarded your HND qualification as an excuse of being a lower qualification compare to his daughter's Bsc. Guy, if the lady is for you, I do not think there will be any excuses from any parents. Having issues with parents before relationship/ marriage are not always good.

You didn't even get it right, it will create a society of forever bitter man-hating single women who have the money but no happiness as young gigolos and playboys turn their hearts to piano, dribbling them around as they continue to search for that missing man in their life till old age.

Most will then fall victim to real life and internet romance scammers and playboys from Nigeria and outside Nigeria.

This is already happening to women in Western countries like US, UK, Australia, etc. And the cause of their problem is feminism and gay practice that are discouraging more of their young men from getting married.

Nigeria will get to that stage with time, I only pity the ladies that will fall victim

No he his not a gold digger. I believe the OP didn't tell us the whole story behind it all.
For example, If I engage a person in a discussion for just 30minutes. I will know whether they've got prospect or not.
In a man's life at just about maturity there's what I call the EXPERIMENTATION PHASE & EXECUTION PHASE.
Experimentation is when you're still trying too many things, you are unsure and yet to be convinced of what exactly it is you want in life. In essence you're just groping in the dark, not being sure of the path you want to follow.
But Execution, you've a clear direction backed by evidence as well as the ability/capacity to get to where you're going such that when you explain to people they'll understand and be convinced that you're not just another dreamer....... In essence you're not there yet but you obviously have and know things/ways/steps with which you'll arrive at your destination.

I believe the OP is still in the EXPERIMENTATION PHASE.

If you give a guy who is still experimenting a sum of 2million naira, you'll be surprised how he'll utilise it. So I believe that's the problem.

My brother. It can't work. There are so many HND graduates in Oshun State, pick one and marry from them. Those are your league.
You can't keep up with the responsibility of taking care of her, to her parent's taste.

I salute the courage of the parents. Giving you their daughter will amount to still supporting your family and also doing your responsibility because obvious you can't keep up to her responsibility.

Invariably after marriage, you will drag her to Oshun state. We all pray for progress and not retrogression. I'm speaking from volumes of experiences

For you to get the consent of her parents to amount to the fact that you can continue from where her parents stopped. And obviously, you can't

Abeg, find your own league within your people and leave that innocent lady to attract those who will make her excel more than her parents.

You are more or less a gold digger. Because you will definitely be relying on her parents to cater for your family. Because your salary will not be enough to do so.

My brother, it's advisable for your own goods. So that you would save yourself from all these big men unnecessary pressure. My friend did d same, despite the fact he collecting a fat salary, it never shows
