Before i officially unfollow this thread;….

I'd like to say a big thank you to Justwise, Jarus and every other person who at some point was a source of inspiration.

I'll also like to encourage every one presently studying in the UK; Keep your head up!!!…. It will pay off eventually.

One line of advice; "Study to understand…and not just to pass". Your certification will get your foot in the door…. but it's your knowledge that will get you a seat in the room. Also for those who'll be rounding up this summer; start sending your applications to companies you wish to work for. (The recruitment process could take a while for some organisation(s)

God willing; i'll be resuming at my new office in 12 days time.

Investment Banking; Yes!!!…. I'm in cheesy cheesy cheesy

The Ijaws has finished using them, now PDP is using them. They knew it is very very difficult to ask a Yoruba man to start dancing in the sun because of 500 naira.

Igbos are slaves to their empty egos, and as long as you stroke their ego, they are will u.

I dnt think they think for themselves.

Sometime in 2011 i advised HR that i needed trainee staff since my team's workload had increased…

They called interviews and recruited staff for my team and some other teams.

A 1st class engineering student was assigned to my team… I went back to HR and told them; this boy won't last 4 months with us; give me someone else… HR said; NO

Less than a week after he resumed he came and met me in private and told me he wanted to go for an interview… Of course i allowed him and even wished him luck…

A few weeks later; he had another interview… I gave him my personal car to go with since it was raining…

I was the first person to see his offer letter and pay package when a major multinational oil servicing firm recruited him…

As he dey go; i carry my C.V give am (If opening dey for my level make he put am for me)

No time!!!

I asked for a trainee staff in a F.I and you give me 1st class engineering graduate? Na me wan block person destiny? undecided

OP

Unfortunately; many people on this thread don't have a passport; talk more of a visa.. But they'll be the ones to make you believe you can build a house in Nigeria whilst schooling abroad.

You may have to find some other way to come together as a group and draw the attention of the Nigerian press to your plight. You should also consider using social media. You must speak up…and loudly too.

It is an irresponsible government that makes commitments and fails to live up to it.

Cc; Justwise…. Please is there anyway you could be of help?

Again you never ready chop. You need to fix your mentality. You don't sound like you were ever hungry. Otherwise when hunger waya you, and landlord corner you, then you will know that the hustle is real.

I worked fulltime during my final year at Uni...and I knew people then who worked 2 jobs and still finished with 1st class and 2:1.
Oga stop blowing breeze!!!
I've been there….done that… i'm not fooled for one second.

Tuition is paid up front or quarterly. So Tuition has either been paid up before you start, or you save up to pay. QED

Imagine what this one is saying. You need to see the hustling your mates are doing as students in this country.

All I can say is that, with this mentality, you never ready chop
Did you read the OP's post? She said Nigerian students being sponsored by the Rivers State Govt have had their studies terminated in a certain country because they haven't paid tuition.
You want to save money to pay tuition in the UK? whilst studying?
Bro; I have lived, schooled and worked in the UK… and unless you're schooling in one of those mushroom universities… what you're dreaming up is not practicable….
And errrm… my mentality is perfect; it's your mentality that needs to be worked on

20 hours a week at minimum wage is around 120 pounds a week or 480 pounds a month.

Are you saying you can't survive as a student on 480 pounds a month especially if you live outside London?

Moreover, if as a student you don't know you should be working double those hours, then you never ready chop.

Dey there make pant wear you.
Students should work 40 hours? to raise funds for tuition and rent? In the UK? Legit jobs with NI number?

There are two extreme outcomes; You will either be caught or you will reduce your chances of passing by at least 75%

rubbish most of these students are not ready to work at all. There are part time jobs that they can do and use the money for their upkeep. I did my masters in uk and just after 4 months of arriving uk I have been fending for myself till now without affecting my studies at all. They are unserious at all
Stop making noise mister!!!
You cannot pay tuition, rent and still have anything left from working 20 hours a week!!!
If you want to try to convince me; break it down; how much are you paid per hour? and how much is your rent?how much is your tuition? talk more of bills and upkeep?
It's bad enough that one has to work and study at the time…. then you expect them to raise their tuition from part time jobs?
And you actually used the word; rubbish? undecided undecided undecided Mtchew

I think how Gbagbo ended is too horrible for GEJ to experience.

Oh! Rivers, Enugu, Cross-River, and Akwa-Ibom.. Those inflated votes? Were they not rigged?? Let's just say the "Best Rigger" carried the Day. smiley

How did the President elect react when he lost the elections in 2011? Compare that to the way GEJ reacted. The aftermath of Buhari's speech resulted in the loss of lives and property in 2011.

This is where y'all are not getting it. 2011 Election was rigged! Buhari had no reason to accept Defeat when it's obvious the Election was rigged. GEJ would have won though, but the gap wouldn't be much. Back to 2015.. The PVC exposed how PDP been inflating our Votes since 2003 to keep them in Power.

Tinubu has been tried! Abacha is no more Alive.
Let's talk about OBJ and GEJ!! cheesy

Now you guys have started shielding GEJ's Corrupt Practises just like Odua Gate!?

SMHISM!! huh

Brimmie:
Dear Nairalanders, we all need to understand the concept of Greatness and Heroism. I have been reading Revisionist pieces and White-Washing of Sepulchres on several Social Media Platforms with different people calling GEJ a Hero for conceding to Buhari.

So he is now a hero because he conceded? Did he have a choice?

GEJ has played Politics with the Lives of thousands of our Countrymen for too long. History will never be kind to him. Note that He wasn't magnanimous by accepting defeat, the circumstances and factors were all against him. He didn't concede, he was compelled to. He didn't give us democracy, we demanded it and we got it. He is not a hero by any standard.

We should separate sentiments from matters of National Interest, all those who made hate speeches should be prosecuted. All those who stole our collective wealth must be jailed and made to refund the money.

Sending congratulatory messages to Buhari should not confer automatic Immunity to these Wicked Criminals.

The true Heroes are those who stood up in the rain to vote and stayed to make sure their votes count. Not GEJ who allowed impuntiy unchecked, to whom "Stealing is not corruption".

GEJ's concession of defeat is commendable, but not admirable. He must answer for embezzled funds.

- Brimmie (2015)
Ordinarily; i would not quote your post… But your write up strikes me as one that is well thought out….

Now let me ask you;
What do you think would have happened if GEJ rejected the results and started to whip up sentiments? Do you for one second think he could not have done that?

Yu say he was compelled? LOL…by who exactly?

Why do you believe that PDP could not have comfortably rigged this elections?

How did the President elect react when he lost the elections in 2011? Compare that to the way GEJ reacted. The aftermath of Buhari's speech resulted in the loss of lives and property in 2011.

You my friend; are in no position to judge GEJ.

GEJ is a true hero of democracy…He has set a standard not just in Nigeria; but in the African continent. He has shown that Nigeria can truly be a pacesetter….

He who goes to equity, must go with clean hands….. GEJ should answer for embezzled funds after; Babangida, Abacha, Obasanjo, Tinubu…

Obasanjo raped our democracy and votes for years with impunity and you did nothing, someone has averted predicted crisis and pushed up confidence in Nigeria ability to handle electoral challenges and you are so blinded by sentiments to see the big picture.

Many wars in Africa started with elections and if Jonathan had wished so, many would have joined him to protect their source of livelihood.

God bless Jonathan
More international services awaits him for his integrity. Abdusalam and Jonathan are currently the foremost statesmen now as far as Africa is concern on the same level with Kofi Annan and Mbeki, Obasanjo is a confirmed tout

To all the change agents....this is for you.
1. PDP does not have the monopoly of corruption in Nigeria. PDP is as corrupt as APC and every other party in Nigeria.

2. Change goes beyond a mere chant word. The change we need in Nigeria is a structural one. A change that will ensure equity and fairness.

3. The current constitution is a product of the Northern establishment and they will always kick against anything that will put them in a precarious situation.

4. If buhari gets to power, do u think he will support the restructuring the country knowing fully well it will put the North at a disadvantage.

I as a person support GEJ for a no of reasons. Not because he is the best, but cos I see sincerity, though most of his plans are not going according to plan. The yoruba for many decades have been clamouring for a national conference. Even the actors in the APC have clamoured for it at one time or the other. Including tinubu aregbe and other notable APC stalwarts. But now that we have it, they want to jettison it cos of political expediency.

To all the change agents, get a copy of the recommendations of the national confab and go through. This is the only thing that will bring true change. Let's not be deceived by the broom wielders. Change is a process not an event...
I heaved a sigh of relief after i read your post….

2 months ago I had drinks with the son of a gubernatorial aspirant of a state in the middle belt.
He came into England to see friends and he told me outright that his father had forbidden him from going to Nigeria till the elections are over...
His elder brother is in France too...

Yet I read daily about youth killing themselves over these politicians who don't care about them....

Truly... Nigerian youth and the nation at large is a huge joke.

Are you talking about those moments when you feel like you are an actor in a movie? When there is this quiet confidence within that you know how it all ends?
I had an aunt who had sickle cell. She experienced lots of crises and was almost always sick. The Christmas before she died, she was unusualy strong. She cooked for the family, made us our lovely dishes and everyone rejoiced thinking the worst was behind her.
But, even as a kid, I sensed something was wrong. There was this heavy weight within, I felt like I was seeing her for the last time. Few weeks later, when her sister arrived at our home late on a Tuesday evening, I knew she had died.
