Yorubas hardly do anything without first paying homage to God. Have you ever heard of this statement by the traditionalists?. " Iba o, olojo oni mo juba o ". " Iba a Koda " " iba a sheda ". " Iba o Olodumare " I will stop here. Meaning " I bow to you the owner of today.". " I bow to you the one that already was. " I bow to you that creates the living " " I bow to you God almighty. Stop saying what you don't know. |

Sammy07: You're a Yoruba right?
What is the meaning of this statement
Oba waja Akara ti tu sinu epo
And again, there is nothing like Yoruba Muslims or Yoruba Christians I keep telling you, you can't divide Yorubas along religious lines , find another means. You are too lenient with that puzzle. He should answer this " adaba o nani a nkungbe, ina njo eye nlo, ketekete ku iso pin.". Or simply this " ma te sun awo Erin ni. ". |
Politics › Re: Opinion: Why Do The Yorubas Exhibit High Level Of Religious Tolerance? by 7lives: 10:47am On Jul 19, 2020 |
Sammy07: Well, I think it's culture. Our culture allows free will, non discrimination, respect, tolerance etc.
During Christians festivals, Muslim join us to celebrate.
Same as Muslim festivals, we join the Muslims to celebrate (Come July 31, I go eat Sallah meat )
during traditional festivals, both Christians and Muslims celebrate.
Then another thing I notice is our earlierst form of education also helps. For example, If we believe Jesus / Elijah rise up to heaven, and Prophet Muhammed rode on donkey in the sky / Cut the moon into two (I've forgotten how it was written sha), why shouldn't we believe that Sango strikes too or Obatala came from heaven via chain? Its Godliness. Yorubas believe that God truely create every man in his image, and so how everyone relate with God is their personal business. This reminds me of an old woman who always prepared a sit for Jehovah's witnesses every sunday, she called the man actually one of her customers " my pastor ". And when one or two members of her asalatu " prayer group " come in unexpectedly, they also join the mini service. When the mini church service is over, they discuss the purpose of their visit. Those who called themselves tebliks and tried to create religious demacation and segregation have so far not succeed in Yoruba land. Every family have them all. Imagine an Esu worshiper who lives in the same house with sons and daughters that are true prophets of God. This is how it is in Yorubaland, it is the Grace of God, we bless God for it. |

Instead of the moni miss road to hold the ceremony in his village, he used chattered flights to airlift 300 visitors from his God forsaken village to Lagos. Honestly, so many questions left unanswered, why must this beautiful and intelligent flying officer lost her life in a road traffic accident, What type of accident would lead to this huge, ugly incident, tragic, local and international loss? what type of accident inside the base would make such impact to our national hero? This is a huge loss of talents and a rare gift to Nigeria as whole. She was barely 23 years old and commissioned into service last year October .I hope the family and NAF could set up an independently panel of inquiry to find out what went wrong. Very sad and pathetic, may God comfort her family. Na so dem dey die useless death for naija airforce. Some years ago, a friend from Akwa Ibom lost a cousin was already penciled down, for the position of the cheif of air staff. The guy was invited by a friend for squash game on environmental sanitation day. The guy refused to return home so his family visit his friend, also an air force man and the man said the guy left after the sanitation exercise. Na beside the road dem find his dead body, his car was not found his head was covered with crash helmet and he was bleeding form the nose. This is a man that was trained by NASA, he was described as a lion heart who can do any deadly manouvre in the air. NASA tried to keep him in America but Nigerian government fought hard to return him to Nigeria. He was also commissioned at 21, he died at 32. |
