Politics › Re: #nigeriadecides2023: Natasha Akpoti Loses Kogi Central Senatorial Seat To APC by 9jaRealist: 2:37pm On Feb 28, 2023 |
Bellydeen: Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has lost her bid to represent Kogi central senatorial district in the national assembly.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was defeated by Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the just concluded national assembly election.
Rotimi Ajayi, INEC returning officer for Kogi central senatorial district, announced the result on Tuesday, in the Okene area of the state.
He said Sadiku-Ohere garnered 52,132 votes to beat Natasha who had 51,763 votes.
“Engineer Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the APC having scored the highest votes in the election for the Kogi central senatorial seat is hereby declared winner, and is therefore returned elected,” Ajayi said.
Supporters of the APC candidate were seen in jubilation after the result was declared, chanting “we have won”.
On Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan accused the Kogi government of trying to disenfranchise voters in the state
She alleged that the government carried out a road excavation around Ihima, Okehi LGA of the state to influence voters’ turnout for the just-concluded presidential and national assembly elections.
But the Kogi government had said the excavation was a security measure.

You are openly going against the law and you don/t even care?
This is an exercise beamed all over Nigeria, Africa and the world. How can the head of INEC be breaking the law on national TV?
Nigeria is unique oooo... Next you would say go to court... Same court that made someone who came 4th the governor Exactly bro! Just as the January 6 insurrectionists in the US did not break the law because it was beamed across the world…oh wait! > |

AroleOduduwa2: Nigeria's problem is her institutions, such as the inec and the police force; this election was heavily rigged in favor of the incumbent party, which is unsurprising. My biggest concern is the level of tribalism; people voting for unknown people with no track record in the name of tribe, the majority of whom will defect to the two major parties once the dust settles.
As an Ijebu man who has been an avid supporter of Tinubu in the past, I believe it is fair to say that he came prepared, was well calculated, and played the game perfectly, despite the fact that Obi ruined his chances in the west and ss, he proved to be the best politician by his North masterclass results. Dude, you should have just stopped at the highlighted… Instead you proceed to claim that your “biggest concern is the level of tribalism”… But if you’re a Yoruba man supporting a Yoruba candidate, why do you think others behaving similarly are merely being “tribalistic”?! > |

duro4chang: This is no rigging since APC did not win. The President lost his state.
The Candidate lost his state.
The Senate President lost his state.
The Party’s Chairman lost his state.
The Party’s Secretary lost his state.
The Presidential Campaign Council Chairman, Gov Lalong lost his state.
Gov el-Rufai lost his state.
Gov Ganduje lost his state.
Yet they said that the election was rigged by APC. Merely shows that the APC are just as INCOMPETENT at rigging as in governance… But of course without APC;s rigging, the elections would be a BLOWOUT LANDSLIDE! > |

Yamiriflathead:
Although disappointing Tinubu tried to hold Lagos with the figures he pulled so far. Lagos is the Capital of Southern Nigeria, so what were you expecting? This was a fight between ibos+SS+woke yorubas against Tinubu supporters in Lagos who are mainly yorubas and maybe Hausas in Lagos.
I hope Tinubu and yorubas have learnt a bitter lesson from Lagos Elections not to befriend and feed a cub because it is homeless, hopeless, and dying. It will grow up and eat u up someday.
I'm happy yorubas can now sit down and ask qtns as to how they got everything wrong and redress it with BAT as President.
The take home from this defeat is..
Yorubas need to stop drafting non yorubas into the civil service and stop giving them prominent appointments. There are always technocrats who can always fit into any political office from the SW
Yorubas need to stop selling their lands to non yorubas in Lagos and SW
Yorubas need to stop giving out local government of origins to non yorubas in Lagos
Yorubas need to stop allowing non-yorubas contest for Elections in Lagos or SW
Yorubas need limit the numbers of voters registration of non yorubas going on in Lagos, they care so much about Lagos and don't care if their homes rot, Henceforth let them go home and vote. They can't come and dictate to you on how to govern urselves after creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.
Contain them politically, Period!
Congratulations to the incoming President of Nigeria BAT the ASIWAJU of Lagos for winning the most Free and fair Elections since our Nascent Democracy nothwitstanding This is the sort of PRIMITIVE TRIBALISTIC DEMAGOGUERY that keeps Nigeria UNDERDEVELOPED and in the Dark Ages…SMDH> |
