Latakia: Imagine a Lebanese Supermarket wanna dictate to Nigerians. I don't blame them after all Naanu and his boss Atiku supported the wicked CBN policy thinking they are hurting Jagaban.
Quit being such a PRIMITIVE XENOPHOBE… They are Lebanese-NIGERIANS and have settled in this country probably longer than you’ve been alive (and “Nigerian”)! >
Kyase: The supermarket, which was shut for insisting on new notes, has written a letter to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to apologise for its action.
In the letter, the supermarket said it rejected the old notes based on the deadline set by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the refusal of commercial banks to accept old notes.
Whatever anyone may think of the CBN policy (and I happen to think it’s been horribly implemented)… Governor Gandollar has NO AUTHORITY to arbitrarily shut down a supermarket over an issue in dispute before the courts.’ >
What’s the difference between barter trade and hiding Naira in your mattress? If Nigerians are going to stick to their forefathers’ ways, barter trade is as good as any! >
Peterobi90: Its been almost 2 weeks after CBN initial deadline.. i used to be addicted to POS centres, but now, i can't remember when last i saw a naira note, but i have been making transactions and surviving...
We would all adjust eventually, Good change comes at a price..
- Open multiple bank account - Get ATM cards - Download banking mobile apps for transfers - Get POS device for your outfits - Move to the next seller if the previous says "cash only"
Of what use is you not learning about technology, its not like the world would go back to the stone ages..
BLESS YOU!
Sadly, faced with the option to move forward or backward…. It seems that increasingly the Nigerian ‘instinct’ is to gravitate backward! >
jumper524: In shettima word. "I believe there are more people more competent In the southeast than gringory" The likes of Rochas and umahi are more better and competent with reasonable track record. But the bigoted people on this forum wants to enforce a man who failed as governor to us Nigerians. So ASUU can keep going on strike like he did in his state. Or he can increase schoolfess by 300% and tell us education is not for the poor. Ogun go strike any ediot when dey hype this ediot.
Exactly! Being “bread (sic) and buttered” in the North and speaking Hausa fluently is a better and more competent track record…smh >
The Vice Presidential candidate of the APC in the 2023 General Elections, Kashim Shettima, has called Peter Obi "Gringory,” which means “start laughing,” during the APC Local Government Summit for Tinubu/Shettima held in Abuja.
Not sure the dude is intentionally trying to be funny… After hearing him say things like “Aprica” (instead of ‘Africa’), “idea” (instead of ‘I dare’), “Paulipied” (‘qualified’), etc.! SMH >
Jashub: This is just unfortunate and the thing is becoming too frequent nowadays . Hardly a week goes by without hearing of people suddenly slumping and dying ...what's surprising is that many of these people are less than 40. Some are even professional athletes that eat and live healthy, but still become victims of sudden death . Anyway , may God help and protect us from such . RIP to the dead
There are so many ailments and so-called “silent killers” that afflict so many seemingly healthy people… Sadly, it’s compounded in Nigeria, as most Nigerians never visit the doctor or get regular checkups until they are virtually at death’s door! >
jossymarcel: I worked at the school last year October 2022. I taught at the Lekki Branch. What am going so say is not to bring d sch down but it's reality. U see, I was in deir classroom yr 12 precisely as assistant class teacher. D kids attempted to seduce me but I refused. One of d teachers told me some of went went to one corner of d class to collect one for d road. I understood dey are kids and fighting with hormones and I tried to advice some of Dem bcux some are too pompous. Dat aside, I had issue with d V.P over an insensitive talk. I challenged him to saying such wrong statement but d sch ganged up against me bcux I spoke d truth. I was demoted to Ikeja Branch. One of the senior staff Mr.Aji who doesn't listen to others view vilified me, thinking I abandoned d kids. I didn't say anything. But while I was at Lekki den, one man picked his child without anyone stopping him, d man was angry bcux he thought if it had been a kidnapper, he would av abducted his daughter. I told a particular teacher dat with d way dere is indiscipline, d sch will go down bcux I av taught in many schools and seen thinx. The school don't lyk d truth. Some teachers knew I said d truth to criticize d authority. One of Dem said no one had ever challenged d school d way I did. I said I don't want to b someone dat won't add value to d kids. D money wasn't d most important to me. The bottom line is dat parents should investigate well about a school and not dwelling on a household name. Chrisland is a big sch but is dere discipline and security? Or, is it a sch where a particular staff bleep other staff in his office? Dere is more to d sch Dan wat d outsiders know. For media sake I will conceal some tinx. But parents should take my advice. I am speaking d truth bcux I recently taught dere. May Adeniran Whitney rest in perfect peace. Amen.
Not to distract from substantive stuff on this thread, but… If this has truly been written by a “teacher”, I weep for educational standards in Nigeria! >
fortunateme: Autopsy first before any speculation. Arrest the bus driver, and the nurse and the school teacher in duty on the said date. But who really is the owner of this school? Modified; I suspect violent rape, or gang violence just like the substance given to that boy then.
No family deserve such pain. Rip Whitney.
Why on earth would the driver be arrested? Nigerians are just too power-drunk, arrest the small dude instead of seeking real answers.
RIP to the poor girl.
PS: Meanwhile, have some human decency and delete that drivel about “violent rape”. SMH >
God1000: yeah FG has borrowed a lot of money from China
No, Nigeria has NOT “borrowed a lot of money from China”…
Nigeria’s debt to China is LESS than 10% of external debt (and about 4% of total debt)… Furthermore, Chinese loans are the CHEAPEST (next to the World Bank and other DFIs loans).
Meanwhile, China is the largest single holder of US official debt…. And about the biggest trading/investment partner with the West (who are warning Africans to ‘beware’ of China)! >
Faposky95: Ever wondered why it's cheaper non the under developed countries...?!
mmsen: Many of those countries where soda is more expensive have a tax attached to drinks that are deemed unhealthy.
Exactly! Just as cigarettes are cheaper in developing countries… Carbonated sugary drinks are often taxed in many developed nations to DISCOURAGE consumption.
Btw, Nigeria is trying to do the same with a N10/litre “excise tax” on sugary drinks in the Finance Bill… But manufacturers (and even some consumers) are trying to resist the introduction of these charges.
These drinks may be nominally “cheap” in label pricing… But the REAL COST in possible adverse healthcare effects (obesity, diabetes, etc.) is VERY EXPENSIVE! >
englishmart: I guess it's subsidized in Nigeria, or the quality here is very substandard.
Oowel: are you sure quality of the drink is the same base on the price difference in all of these countries...
Olasyke: The quality here is trash, and it got worse since 2020. Seems like they are diluting it nowadays. Looks light and see through. Cost of business wan kill them so in turn, they give us substandard poison products. As far as they're paying their taxes, govt doesn't really care to regulate how they make it.
By the way, between NBC and Pepsi/ Coke coy, who are we to blame?
Nbote: Jus drink coke and Pepsi outside the shores of this country, U'll understand why the prices differ
bantilosha: What we drink here is absolute nonsense.
Adjovi: With the diluted rubbish they sell to us here. Considering the fact that raw materials can be gotten here. Like glass sand etc, we are being ripped off with the nonsense diluted drink. Na the zero even worse pass
LAXconfidential: The Coca Cola sold abroad comes with nutritional information, it's taste is almost angelic. What we drink here is just carbonated water with sugar and caramel in recycled plastic bottles.
Youngpaperboy: QUALITY IF VERY DIFFERENT. NOT JUST IN DRINKS, DRUGS AND EVERTHING
I worked at the Coca-Cola worldwide HQ in Atlanta for a couple of years (albeit not in production), but Coca-Cola uses the same patented process worldwide (and basically the same sugar- or corn-based syrup) worldwide. The basics of Coca-Cola is IDENTICAL everywhere on the globe, and you legally CANNOT label a drink as “Coca-Cola” without using the same ingredients! >
lexy2014: Propaganda. BRT has been using cowry cards for up to 2years now and it is not cashless. You still need to use cash to top up your card before using it abi na empty card you go use enter bus?. Stop misinforming people.
Which danfo is using cowry?
Abegi, do you actually understand what being “cashless” means?! You don’t think you need cash to “top up” your credit card before you use it?! SMH >
IbileIfe: Nollywood is 90 percent opportunism and 10 percent professionalism. That's why Nigeria is producing more than 1000 movies annually, but not a single one is good enough to qualify for the annual Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars.
INFERIORITY COMPLEX!
Low self-esteemed folks seeking Oyibo or Western validation for telling our OWN stories…SMH Being a staple across the African continent, the Caribbean, and among the African diaspora is enough “award”! >
Omicronvaccine: Man Slumps And Dies At Bank In Delta After Waiting Several Hours To Withdraw Cash (Photo)
A yet to be identified man allegedly slumped and died at a bank in Agbor, Delta state after waiting for several hours to withdraw cash, IGBERETV reports.
The incident happened inside the banking hall on Thursday afternoon, February 2, 2023.
Facebook user, Omole Mike, shared a photo of the deceased and wrote;
Waiting at a bank (or in a queue) has NEVER killed anyone… But instead of doing a post-mortem, Nigerians are content to blame “Emefiele” (or the fabled “village people”).
Dude obviously had underlying health issues… But sadly most Nigerians usually don’t visit doctors or do health examinations until they’re virtually at death’s door.
Galvin: She looks quite transformed, I guess she's back to Nigeria now cos I see she's well dressed with her naija passport ready to board.
It could have possibly been that she was sick while in naija & was flown out for medical treatment & now she's fine & recovering her body...
Being fresh has to do with how the situation around you has affected your mentality, when person travel out of the shores of naija there's this paradigm shift in your mentality & you feel this aura of peace of mind & fulfillment & at that point you'd begin to experience transformation & begin fresh.
Naija pple & bad mouth... Nor be bleaching..
Has little to do with “mentality” and “peace of mind”… Mental illness is rampant in the West, with even little kids coked up on medication.
Diet is different, as many Western foods are fatty… And the largely lack/paucity of sunshine means that you’re less ‘tanned’ and ‘weathered’.
Nairalanders/Nigerians are often bamboozled by EPHEMERAL things… Looking cosmetically different on the outside does NOT translate into better on the inside. >
Seriously, just looks like she’s less tanned in sun-poor England and wearing different (what some Africans may consider “modern”) clothes. Apart from that, not much SUBSTANTIVE difference. Hopefully, their fatty foods won’t give her a coronary! >
Jibsy203: You’re building bridges while ur citizens are beggars and out of school childrens
BLESS YOU!
In Nigeria, politicians are using “flyovers” to bamboozle GULLIBLE citizens - just as Oyibo used trinkets to bamboozle and ferry off their forefathers into slavery and servitude. Most of these bridges are built even without a basic Traffic Study or plan. SMH >
Jacobx007: For Nigeria na pikin ooooo, adulthood is when you are financially buoyant my brother
So, perhaps, Nigeria should raise voting age to “when you are financially bouyant” SADLY, this mindset of yours is why Nigerians in their 40s/50s still classify themselves as ‘youth’! SMH >
Her parents sent her to school but she decided to cohabitate with a boy. A well deserved punishment she received. May others who cohabit with men meet the same fate.
DISGUSTING, DISGRACEFUL AND DESPICABLE… NOT JUST THE (IN-BRED) MISOGYNY, BUT THE LACK OF HUMAN EMPATHY! >
sukkot: It’s very true. First of all you need to understand that a cars performance is a physical projection of the spiritual health of the person driving it. And so it’s an extension of you . Also to be noted is that there are two types of people in this world, those with a higher calling aka angelic beings and those who don’t have any calling. Those with a higher calling are closely watched and closely marked by higher spiritual forces and must be protected at all times and so if they mess up and mistakenly as a result of the mess up they open portals through which demonic forces can attack and penetrate and so these portals must be closed immediately by immediately giving them their judgement almost on the spot and these types of people if they do wrong get their judgement immediately. Now people like that if they own a car and they do anything immoral in the car that car would almost immediately within a few days start malfunctioning. I am speaking from experience because I have given a few women lifts in my car whom I should not have given lifts to because obviously there was some sexual tension there which I should have not entertained because of course I had my own situation going on but anyway all I did was offer two different women aka my neighbors a ride on two different occasions and immediately they got into the car my car lost power almost immediately. Driving it seemed like I was driving a tortoise. Took it to the mechanic on both occasions and the mechanic said something fried all my ignition coil and all my spark plugs and he was bewildered but I knew what it was. It was a punishment and warning for me not to open portals through which demons can attack. And so yes if you are a highly angelic being and you have immoral sex not with your wife in your car, expect it to start malfunctioning within a week. Then there are the second set of humans who are not angelic and are not closely marked. Those ones are the ones who the higher powers let their sins pile up over time before attacking them. Those ones can nack inside their car for months and years and nothing happens but when that hammer of accumulated sins eventually comes it is devastating. Maybe that’s the guy you would see who a trailer carrying a huge container mistakenly let’s the container fall on the guys car and it crushes the whole car beyond repairs etc if he doesn’t lose his life depending on the weight of the accumulated sins
TDB101: Wether we like it or not, we are Africans. Some might say it’s superstition but don’t forget that every land has what it abhors. You may have sex in a car in one neighborhood and nothing will happen but you might try it another neighborhood and you will have problems. There’s also the issue of your roots and who you are. Some guys can sleep with a married woman and nothing will happen while if some guys try it their world will scatter.
bablon20: Although logically it's very difficult to believe but it's very true. The spirit that oversees sexual activities understand it should be done under a roof, in av room or over a natural environment that has the approval of nature, not in an engine-moving device.
faithfull18: But why are your friends fornicating and committing adultery, show me your friends and I will tell you who you are and yes, your engine will knock down if you are sleeping with someone you aren't not married to in that car☹️☹️
My bad, so many Nigerians are obviously this PRIMITIVE AND SUPERSTITIOUS…smh >
