Its funny you brought up the 2007 Finals. Again, It wasn't the Cavs offense that was

nearly the problem as Spurs defense. In that series they basically turned LeBron into a

jumpshooter b/c they knew how to DEFEND the low post very well w/ Duncan anchoring

and altering shots while CLOGGING THE LANE to keep LeBron from penetrating to the

rim.

As we all know, LeBron has always had a deplorable jumpshot w/ terrible shooting

mechanics you wouldn't dare teach your kids. Who the f*** in this day and age do you see

shooting with their elbows out. It became very apparent, esp. when LeBron airballed alot of

shots, including FREETHROWS, during the series.

The thing was LeBron (at that time wasn't used to excellent lane clogging defenses like the

Spurs) and just got exposed. Oh, and the stats back that up.

LeBron shot .336 eFG% off jumpshots in that playoff season.

That is just flat-out terrible.

And Game 7 against Boston was just the icing on the cake. Rondo defended Kobe very

well and just exposed Kobe as an erratic, overrated, self-centered shooter he is (or was)
Are you talking about the Lakers or the Cavs because that series ended in 6

As for that series even if Lebron did have a stinker can you name one player in the entire

Cavs roster that stepped up at any end of the floor throughout that series sweep?they

where all shyte from Big Z to Larry Hughes,Drew Gooden,Donyell Marshall Lebron should

be given credit for dragging arguably the most untalented roster to the NBA Finals the

Spurs have conquered better teams in the Knicks,Nets and Pistons in the past
The Cavs meltdown was down to the fact that no one stepped up i repeat no one!!

WadeFTW:
Last I checked, D12 team went farther than Nowitzkis team last year in the postseason.

Not to mention that Nowitzkis team have been regressing horribly ever since the Finals. In

2006-07, they had no business losing to an eigth-seeded team like Golden State in the first

round. But now I could understand why that happened: b/c they lacked a low post threat

and a defensive anchor in the middle and just allowed GSW high-octane offense to run up

the score. Instead of looking to defend, they were busy trying to match the offensive skills of

the Warriors, which was a terrible philosophy by Avery Johnson.

I can care less if Dirk is a skilled big w/ a jumpshot: GET THE THEORY THAT A GREAT LOW

POST BIG GENERALLY HAS MORE OF AN IMPACT ON THE GAME THAN A GREAT

JUMPSHOOTING BIG

So what if the NBA has gotten more sissier w/ big men facing up moreso than posting up. It

doesn't change any my theory. The great low post players that I mentioned in my prior

post: Do you know what they would do in this league today?!?! LOL. Inexplicable. They

would eat these sissy, so-called big men for lunch. In fact, Prime Shaq and Duncan are great

examples

Defense and Rebounding gives more scoring opportunites and attempts. I think it was

LeBron that was the problem, not that second option that we're all waiting for. Every year

in his playoff career he has shot terrible when teams would just clog the lane and have him

shoot all day. It works! He had good serviceable role players like Big Z, Varejao & Gooden to

feed the ball to in the post, and Gibson to kick out to. But the real truth, the real downfall of

the 2006-07 Finals was LeBrons jumpshot and his inability to drive through the lane, which

was his greatest strength. You take LeBrons greatest strength away from him, and he is

incredibly limited offensively. No post game then (despite his big frame), and no

jumpshot
Yeah D12's team went further but lost to an ageing Pistons team in 5 games and thats the

same team which Lebron's average Cavs beat in six games abeg i am not buying into

Dwight' Howard's hype yet comparing him to Lebron is an insult are you talking of

someone that averaged 35 points in his debut playoff season  shocked shocked.Howard still has a mighty

long way to go you guys should not over hype this kid just yet
Back to Dirk i would believe the Mavs and Avery Johnson where star-struck when they

came across their former master in Don Nelson we lost 3-0 in the regular season to them so i

am sure it must have played in their heads somewhat but thats not the issue
Granted low-post players tend to make more impact but thats not always the case there

are exceptions and Dirk is one of them
And today's game has changed with the rules offensive fouls and everything it is more inclined to the

guards and smaller guys if you doubt that look at the last 5 NBA Finals MVP list TD is the only big man you would find in the list so as a big man you have to develop and outside shot either from 18feet,15 or 10 this is what Dirk does expertly Dwight Howard is still a work in progress and is in no wise better than Dirk

The thing about Deco even from when he was in Spain is that he lacks consistency. He is played for those moments of sublime magic. The thing about premiership is that it takes more than moments of magic. It requires sheer persistent doggedness. The like of Essien, Lampard, Terry. Those guys are work horses, men. Mourinho sussed the premiership out like no other manager. Kick the ball and run, finish. Long ball. no fele fele, acrobatics.

I can care less how a European big man plays. History has shown traditional big men have had a far more impact on the game as far back as Mikan (Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Moses Malone, McHale, Dream, Prime Shaq, Admiral, Duncan, and now D12). Nowitzki is an adequate first option on a contending team, but doesn't have nearly the impact as those guys I just mentioned. Especially on defense where he can't even guard a door.

Dirk is not the best big man in the game. I don't even considered Dirk a big man. A whopping 83% of all his shot attempts are off jumpshots. Yeah, hes great at what he does, but he doesn't have big man moves. Replace Dirk with a low ppost threat like D12 or Duncan and I'll GUARANTEE the Mavs have a better record. KG doesn't play like a big neither, but at least hes intimidating on the defensive end and doesn't hover around the perimeter 95% of the time. I think guards like Kobe and Billups even have more of a post up game than Dirk (LOL)
You can choose to care or not care but you cannot tell me thats not a factor unless you don't know your ball.Stop mentioning D12 he has not done squat in the post-season yet D.Wade did that in his 3rd season the fact is today's game has shifted from just relying on a big man to having good PG and Shooting guards who can either control traffic or take the game by the scruff of its neck Miami and Detroit are good examples even Shaq did not win his three rings without good backup from Kobe
Back to Dirk if you compare Dallas of old to what the Mavs have achieved in the last 4 or 5 years you would appreciate the goodness of Dirk i have told you defense is not a strong trait of European players if you don't get that then i am sorry i can't help you his array of moves driving to the hoop, shooting and handling the rock so good is the envy of all big men across the league Dirk is marquee a ring is all that would stop this hate and even if he does not win one i would name countless greats like Karl Malone and Reggie Miller that where not so lucky either

WadeFTW:

W/O LeBrons supporting cast, LeBron wouldn't stand a chance against the upper echelon powers. If LeBron doesn't have the necessary players built around him (gritty defenders that have a nose for the ball and/or are great rebounders), then I don't care when LeBron plays. Hes not getting it done. And LeBrons terrible jumpshot in the playoffs wouldn't help neither.

Most of y'all don't strike me as guys that puts enough emphasis on defense. All I hear is blame on Celts bench offense and LeBron James. Defense is half the game, and if not developed, then your team has no chance. I'm a really young kid, but I have more of an old school mentality. I value defense more than offense. Most of championship teams we've witnessed the past few years were defense oriented. Detroit, Spurs, Boston, and Miami to a lesser extent. Conversely, we've seen run-n-gun teams like Phoenix Suns that don't even make it to the conference Finals.
Get this clear!! Lebron is the heart and soul of the Cavs no Lebron and the Cavs go straight back to the potential D-league team they where before King James came along if Cleveland had someone half as good as Lebron on their roster they would have won a ring
Defense is good but when you have anaemic offense you can only go so far as the Cavs found out against the Spurs when you miss open jumpers, layups and free throws what good is your defense?

@ A-40

The injury situation is terrible to say the least, but first the good news.

Gallas and Diaby return for Wednesday after recovering from knocks

Bad News
Clichy AND Fabregas are out for Wednesday, and are even risky for Saturday.  undecided

Nasri is DEFINITELY out for both Wednesday and Saturday.  cry

Sagna is out for Wednesday with a flu, he might make Saturday.  tongue

RVP is 'left behind' with a little thigh stiffness, he should be OK for Saturday  tongue

Ade is fit, but rested for this game.  cool

Kolo is out AGAIN with a recurrence of his calf problem - AW claims it 'won't be long' before we see him.  huh

It's going to be very interesting to see what backline we pick against Porto with all these injuries.

With Kolo and Sagna out, maybe, just maybe we'll see Eboue in his rightful RB spot - he'll perform well there and gain confidence.

On the other side of defence, it's hard to say - I hope AW doesn't play Djorou wide, but maintains a Gallas-Djourou partnership, with either Silvermonkey or Kieran Gibbs playing LB.

In midfield? we might go 1-3 Song the sweeper then Denilson, Diaby and Ramsey playing. I suspect Vela and Bendtner will both start in attack, or Bendtner being the sole man upfront (God forbid) and Vela playing wide.

In essence, we have no width, our best full backs are out as well as our first choice strikeforce. Bendtner and Vela can improve on recent performances and give the top 2 some competition. Jay Simpson, Wilshire and Merida are also in the squad, Wenger may spring a surprise and start one of them as well.

These injuries are too frequent and too plentiful - maybe we're rushing players back with Kolo's case, but Clichy and Fabregas get an enforced rest at least. Nasri needs to strengthen up and end this stop-start business.

I don't see how we will develop a reasonable run of wins with these interruptions, but maybe this is what some players need to grab their chances in the first team. . . .January is fast approaching, and with that, some players will definitely come in.

More team info as it becomes available.
The bad news seems to outweigh the good news by 50 pounds i would manage a draw in this game with the line up we have right now i don't know why Arsene does not see that this squad is not deep enough to challenge on all fronts its very painful but i think we have to prioritize because we have a tough game at the Riverside which of late has not been a happy hunting ground for us with 2 losses in our last 3 visits we have to get all 3 points there on Saturday so i sincerely hope we get most of our first 11 back in time for that game i can't even picture how that team would fare without Cesc i just hope we don't have another Rozzi in the making in Nasri because it would be too bad
All in all i think Arsene has to seriously look into playing Vela on the wings till January comes along it would make him develop faster and he can join in the attacks from time to time
Berbatov has more quality than Guily, Gilardino, Inzaghi and many other players that have won the Champions league.
I compared Berbatov to Sheva, Litmanen and Weah because of the country they all play for.
No good player can win anything for small countries. Never have, never will.

Cesc was nuthing in 2004/5. .Vieira was still around then. Cesc became a regular after PV left the GAYnners and took ur luck of winning titles away.
If Cesc is so good, why hasn't he won anything of note since Vieira left. . . . . .Berbatov won something in a smaller club for SPURS.
He scored at Wembley to put CHELSEA away in a Carling Cup final. . . . . .That alone should tell u Berbagod is CLASS.

Zizou and Dinho does not score too much but if u add their assists and their number of goals together, they become chunky.
CREATIVITY = Assists + Goals. . . . .any football analyst would tell you that and this is why those stats are recorded these days.
U cannot be creative without adding assists and goals together. When Gerrard and Lampard were 21 does not even count here.
Fabregas played 100 games for ARSENAL as a TEENAGER. It is not due to his skills, it was circumstances that led to it.
Would he have played that many games at Man Utd, Chelsea or Liverpool?? No way in hell.

Where was Zidane at 21?  Ronaldinho at 21? Makelele at 21??
Does that necessarily make Cesc better than them??
What has Cesc achieved since he became a regular at Arsenal. . . . . .He is the most over-rated player i know.
This season, he has only 1 goal and 2 assists in as many as 13 league games and he is ur best player. . . .
Does that stat make him prodigious??
Your blasphemy knows no boundaries!!! Berbatov is not worthy to kiss Pippo Inzaghi's boots infact i have a better chance of being the next president of the United States of America than for Berbatov to achieve half of what Inzaghi has achieved in his career

Cesc was a 17 year old in 2004/2005 season how much impact would he have possibly made around better players but he was still good enough to start in the Final and have a decent run of matches in the league and even the UCL Cesc's potential was obvious for everyone to see in that season

Berba-dog is an over-rated Arrow besides the penalty that he played what worthy thing of note did he do the entire match? why are you getting worked up about the Carling Cup? George Boateng also won the Carling Cup with Boro he must be class too

Cesc at 21 was better than Zidane,Ronaldinho,Makelele at 21 he is world-class already your sentiments about him would not change that fact and with better signings from Arsene the boy is sure to win trophies

As for your concoction of STATS = GOAL + ASSISTS you are entitled to your theory but Zidane was never a prolific goal-scorer and didn't even make that much assists he was more of a big time player that you could count on when it was crunch time.A central midfielder's primary objective is not to score goals but to make passes and assists for his team-mates and on that basis few players do it better than Cesc right now.QED

Sometimes i wonder if this man is going or has gone senile to even compare those battlers and champions to these untested quantities Eboue to Ray Parlour Arsene must be going postal i wonder who he would compare him to next Marc Overmars?

I am glad i am not the only one that believes we need a winger or two since Nasri and Diaby appear too injury-prone to consistently hold down that role and Eboue and Denilson have been disasters if Wenger does not get at least one winger come January thats when i would know the screws and nuts have fallen off his head totally i cringe in fear at the thought of what would happen if we missed Cesc for any important fixture as Denilson has not even shown he is good enough to deputize for him

getting so much penetration, Westbrook had only run for four yards

In the second half though, the defense got battered. I mean, 9 conversions

They might not have missed him but even the Philly defensive coach said after the game that Plax's absence made things a bit easier for them i would really like to see how they would cope without Plax in the post-season if looking at their run last season is anything to go by then its not looking as good as the Giants think
Berb-sulk - Carling cup winner tongue tongue

This is like saying SAHA won the UCL. . . . . . .How many games did he play that season??
Was he directly involved?? Did he do anything spectacular that season??
I can also say Messi won the UCL in 2006 despite missing in the Q-finals, S-finals and the FINAL. grin
Are you kidding me once again?Cesc had a decent run of games that season and even became our youngest scorer in history and for your information he featured in that F.A Cup Final he was a legit player for us that season
The most important stat is ASSISTS and NUMBER OF GOALS. . . . . .
Ronaldo is a midfielder like Cesc and he was able to score plenty of goals.
Frank Lampard is a midfielder and he outscored all the strikers in Chelsea for 2 seasons or there about.
Stevie G has outscored Kuyt and whoever for how many seasons now??
U need to chip in the goals to be recognised as a world class talent(something Cesc lacks in high magnitude).
Number of Goals is not an important stat for a midfielder i repeat!! How many goals did Zizou score?even Ronaldinho and the likes as a central midfielder your primary duty is to create chances the goals are secondary and a bonus
Cesc chipped in 13 or 15 odd goals if you want to add the UCL qualifiers last season and if i am not mistaken this dude is still only 21 how many goals a season did Lampard and Gerrard score per season when they where his age?

I am not sure the Cavs are as one-man as they where in 07 when they lost to the Spurs although i still agree the rest of the team is shyte but looking at last season's playoff series you and i know that homecourt was what saw you through against ATL and Cleveland y'all are still favorites though but not unbeatable

I would play the devil's advocate here and pitch tent with the fans they spend their hard-earned money every week to watch the Arsenal they have come to love and support play so badly these days i mean the stadium was not even filled up does that not tell you that the fans are getting frustrated!! in these harsh economic times fans expect some succour after a hard week's work instead of display's from Eboue and company that would raise their blood pressure what if Wigan had gone on to equalize? 90 minutes hard work would have gone for nothing he made mistakes and made no effort whatsoever to correct them during the match we saw Gallas in the Kyiv game he made a few blunders but at least tried to correct them Arsenal fans are the most tolerant around they got tired of the B.S the players where giving and had to vent their frustrations too bad Eboue was the victim but it serves as a lesson to the other players and even AW himself

Eya A-40, pele . . . Romo showed his ugly side at the worst time possible, too many TO's for Dallas & with remaining games against the Ravens, Giants and Eagles, the playoff picture is looking bleak.
Hmm what can i say i missed the game but seeing the Boys lose 17 points in the 4th was just heart-wrenching i think Romo should write a book on How to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory his clutch play let him down again on a weekend where most of our major contenders for the wild card spot also lost the Falcons,Redskins and one can only hope the Panthers follow suit but seriously the Cowboys had a big chance to wrap that playoff spot and they blew it in the most painful fashion undecided undecided

As for the Giants i still think the whole Plaxico drama had a bit to do with their loss to the Eagles
