SportsRonaldinho Has Been Released From House Arrest In Paraguay by Ababbio(op): 4:25pm On Aug 25, 2020
Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho has been released from house arrest in Paraguay after his detention for holding a forged passport.

The World Cup winner and his brother spent one month behind bars and another four detained in a luxury hotel in the capital Asuncion on bail.

Both have now been released, although they must pay $200,000 (£153,000) in damages between them.

Ronaldinho had a glittering football career before his retirement in 2015.

He helped Brazil to their fifth World Cup victory in 2002 and won the Champions League and two La Liga titles with Spanish football club Barcelona, as well as playing for Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.

In March he and his brother, Roberto de Assis Moreira - who is also his business manager - were detained after allegedly using fake passports to enter Paraguay .

Ronaldinho was travelling to the country to promote a campaign for underprivileged children. He spent his 40th birthday in a Paraguayan prison before the pair paid bail and moved to a luxury hotel under house arrest.

Prosecutors did not think the footballer had any role getting the false passports, but they believed his brother knew they were fake. Both however have maintained their innocence.

"The precautionary measure of arrest is lifted, there are no more restrictions placed by Paraguayan justice," Judge Gustavo Amarilla told the court on Monday.

PoliticsNBA Conference: Sanusi Reacts To El-rufai's Dis-invitation As Speaker by Ababbio(op): 12:00am On Aug 24, 2020
Former Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi, has condemmed Nigeria Bar Association(NBA) for withdrawing invitation sent to Kaduna State governor Malam Nasir el-Rufai, to be one of the speakers during it forthcoming conference.

Governor el-Rufai was reported dropped, by the association as one of its speakers, following a protest by some lawyers.

Sanusi who made this disclosure while speaking with reporters, shortly after meeting with el-rufai at government house, Kaduna, on Sunday, said, rather than withdraw el-Rufai’s invitation, the lawyers should have rubbed minds with him to identify areas that need to be addressed for the purpose of governance.

“If you feel that the governor of Kaduna state is not doing well, you should invite him to your conference and ask him, and let him explain himself on what he’s doing and tell him what you think he’s doing wrong. You will learn something form him and he’ll learn something from you,” he said.

“If you disagree with someone, having him in your hall and telling him your view is the best and he can defend himself. And if they’re things he needs to improve, he’ll take them on board and if they’re things you don’t know of, you’ll be better informed. I think NBA has lost an opportunity to interrogate the Governor and collectively rub minds to identify areas that need to be addressed for the purpose of governance.”

Addressing reactions that trailed el-Rufai's invation withdrawal, sanusi advised NBA not to allow the issue to degenerated into another crisis.

“That’s the best way, I think to handle matters like this but then again, I’ve seen the response from different part of the NBA, I hope this isn’t turned into an ethnic and religious matter, it should be a matter of principle and I really think it’s their loss, if he was there, he will ad value to them,” he said.

“I am aware that the vast majority of NBA members do not agree with those things. You know if you have an opinion, people will either agree with you or disagree with you. But a man ‎who has an opinion that can be agreed with or disagreed with is always better than a man who has no opinion at all.

“Nasir always has opinions, he knows what his position is on things. He says that position very clearly, people will like it, some people will not like it and that is what some people call controversial and being controversial is actually having an opinion.

“If you don’t want ‎to be controversial, you just be flexible, just flow with the wind and nobody knows where you stand. Then you will not have any friends or enemies, as the case may be,” he said

“Wary neighbors however came to the rescue and the murderers fled. The victims are Kefas Malachy Bobai, a 30 year old farmer and father of three and Miss Takama Paul, 16, a student.

“Though armed Nigeria troops arrived a bit late after the killers escaped, their prompt response is very commendable as it in far variance with the past.

“The previous day, 17th August, 2020, Mr Bulus Joseph, 48, father of 9 was murdered gruesomely on his farm at Sabon Gida Idon along Kaduna – Kachia road, in Kajuru LGA, by armed Fulani militia.

“On the 16th August, Pastor Adalchi Usman, 39 and father of 2 was murdered.

“Pastor Usman, who was pastor of ECWA Church, Unguwan /Madaki, Maro ward, in Kajuru LGA in Southern part of Kaduna state, was ambushed while in a commercial vehicle he had boarded with three others.

“The driver of the vehicle, Danlami Dariya was abducted and at the time of releasing this statement his whereabouts was still unknown.

“Then on the same night of 16th August, 2020, Bugai village near Banikanwa in Kachia LGA was attacked by armed Fulani militia.

“The village Head, Dan’azumi Musa, 67 was killed. His siblings, Aniya Musa, 60 including his very aged mother, Kande Musa, 97 and junior sister Angelina Irmiya, 45 were killed. Four members of a family wiped out!

“Six others sustained grievous injuries. They are John Dan’azumi, Danbuzu Anita, and Blessing Soja. The rest are Patricia Anita, Precious Friday and Mercy Yohana.

“Part of the villages was burnt after the attackers looted the village.

“This is to further show that the siege on Southern Kaduna Communities is still ongoing. The genocide is still much on,” he said.

EducationCOVID19: Schools Including Tertiary Institutions Will Resume When It Is Safe -FG by Ababbio(op):
As Nigeria battle with the novel corona virus pandemic the Federal government has given fresh update on school resumption.

The FG through the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, during daily press briefing, on Tuseday, said schools including Tertiary institutions would resume when it is safe to do so.

The Sun reports that Mustapha made this statement in response to the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at the briefing of the task force on Monday, August 17.

Recall that the students' association had earlier noted that though the pandemic hit many nations across the globe, Nigeria should take appropriate steps to remedy the situation and let the society run as seamless as possible.

"It is in this light that we appreciate the call by the National Association of Nigerian Students for the reopening of tertiary institutions.

"As a listening government, we wish to state that education is topmost on the priority list and the reopening of our institutions remain critical, within set safety parameters,” the PTF chairman said in his response on Monday.

Also, the Minister of State for Education, Mr. Emeka Nwajiuba, during the PTF pres briefing on Friday, August 14, said the FG is doing it best to ensure the Academic Staff Union Of University (ASUU), call of it strike.

He also reiterated the appeal which some stakeholders had made to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to place a moratorium on strike actions for the next three years, in order to allow the Nigerian university system to rebuild itself before they start further agitations.

“We are working with science and data and when the country is ready to reopen, I do not believe that ASUU will be unreasonable or illogical about resuming. They have over 10, 000 professors out of nearly 65, 000 lecturers and I am almost confident that they would know as well as we do that the children need to go back to school as long as we are ready,” Nwajiuba said.

In another development the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has announced that post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) screening for the 2020 admission processes will begin by Monday, September 7.

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of JAMB made this on Monday, August 10, a virtual meeting with vice-chancellors, rectors, and provosts of tertiary institutions.

Oloyede explained that the screening was moved from Friday, August 21, to accommodate candidates who would be writing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) this year.

Christianity EtcThose Insulting Me Are Wasting Their Time, Oyedepo Fires Back At Critics by Ababbio(op): 3:48pm On Aug 18, 2020
Living faith church popularly known as winners chapel, general overseer Bishop David Oyedepo, has said those criticising him are just wasting their time over his commitment to the Federal Government on Sunday.

Oyedepo said his church has opened about 520 new parishes on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

The Clergyman has been under enormous criticism over his commitment on Sunday, warning the Federal Government to expung the part of the newly-sign amended Companies and Allied Matter Act, 2020, that will enable the supervising minister to remove the board of trustees of churches without recourse to the court.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, had on August 7 signed into law, the Companies and Allied Matters Bill, 2020. The bill which has been passed by the National Assembly replaced the 1990 CAMA.

Amongst those who reacted to Oyedeopo's comment was the President’s aide on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, who tweeted on Monday, “I hope this is not true. If it is, Oyedepo will have to manufacture his own country and live by his own laws. As long as he lives and operates within the entity called Nigeria, he will live by Nigerian rules and laws. He will do as he’s told by the law. Enough of lawlessness.”

But Oyedepo in church live broadcast sermon Titled 'Breaking limits', on Tuseday monrnig, through the church's social media platforms, said, “If I ever preached a message where there is no laughter, don’t listen to it. I have been laughing like this 76 till forever since I found Matthew 6:33. I have been laughing at the devil and smiling as I serve. You insult me, I enjoy it. You insult me and I stop going to work because you insult, I will be a big fool. I am going to work.

“They said, see his legs. Yes, I thank God for my legs. See his nose, yes, He made it and He did it beautifully. See how short he is, that’s the size He made me for so I can save more clothes.

"You know, He that sits in heaven shall laugh. If you are not laughing, you are not seated in heaven. And we are seated in heavenly places, so what should we be doing? Laugh. As they insult you? Laugh. As they mock you? Laugh. As they abuse you? Laugh.

"Anybody insulting me is wasting his time. One, I didn’t hear. Two, even if I heard, it won’t pain me. Anybody praising me is expressing his opinion. One, I didn’t hear. And even if I heard, it won’t blow my head because if you praise anything in me, it is Jesus.”

“Nobody has the power to determine how many people worship Jesus. No force on earth has the power. When I’m lifted up, I will draw all men to myself. So, get all the facilities ready. The devil is tired. You ask him and he will tell you. I am tired because there are churches today that are just pushing the frontiers of the gospel in spite of the devil.

“As at last night, we got the report of 520 of our new churches planted. The Lord shall send the rod out of Zion, rule thou in the midst of thou enemies. It’s a divine agenda. No policy under heaven can stop it. 520 churches planted on the 16th of August. If I were the devil, I will start mourning now. Shame on the devil.”
