Celebrities / I Never Went To IGP To Deny Protesting In Abuja – Davido by Ababbio: 4:17pm On Oct 13, 2020
Popular Nigerian hip-pop singer David Adeleke better known as Davido, has said, he never went to met the Inspector General of Police(IGP) to deny protesting against police brutality and extortion in the ongoing nationwide #EndSARS protest.

Recall the singer and his crew meet with the IGP and police spokesman Frank Mba at the force headquaters in Abuja, on Monday.

Daivido said, he didn’t go out to join the #EndSARS protest.

He, however said, people coated him out of context during the meeting with the police boss, adding that he was trying to explained that, he was at the protest not to cause any trouble or fight, but in solidarity with every Nigerian demanding an end to police brutality.

Davido said, he also explained to the police PRO Frank MBA that his intention to leave Lagos for Abuja was not to lead protest as many had taught.

He commended those castigating him for denying protesting during the meeting with the police boss in Abuja.

He added that, Mr. Mba had seen videos and pictures of him alongside other Nigerians protesting in solidarity, which was why he(Mr.MBA) asked him if he was in Abuja to led #EndSARS protest because he knew that was not the plan.

Davido said, that was why he had to explain how he got involved with protesters and led them to the force headquarters, so that he could dialogue with the officers incharge who were accused of effecting arrests.

Health / Breaking: US President, Donald Trump Tests Negative For COVID-19 by Ababbio: 6:09am On Oct 13, 2020
United States president Donald Trrump has tested negative to COVI-19 and he is not infectious to others, the White House doctor has said.

“I can share with you that he tested negative, on consecutive days, using the Abbot BinaxNOW antigen card,” Sean Conley said in a White House memo released on Monday.

The doctor said the negative determination had taken into account a number of measurements, and not just the rapid test alone.

The announcement came as Trump travelled to Sanford, Florida to take part in his first campaign rally since becoming infected with the coronavirus.

Conley added that the negative tests and other clinical and laboratory data “indicate a lack of detectable viral replication.”

He did not say when Trump was tested, but the medical team had determined that, based on the data and guidelines from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “the president is not infectious to others,” Conley said.

Trump announced on October 2 that he had tested positive for the disease caused by the coronavirus. He was admitted to Walter Reed military hospital that night and released on October 5.

During the weekend, Trump addressed groups of supporters who crowded onto the White House lawn from a balcony.

Critics have faulted Trump for failing to encourage supporters at campaign events, and even White House staff, to wear protective masks and abide by social-distancing guidelines.

Return to campaigning
Trump has returned to the campaign trail, beginning a planned tour of key battleground states in the US election. His first stop was Sanford, Florida, where he was due to hold a rally on Monday. He has scheduled events in Pennsylvania, Iowa, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

The robust schedule underscores the work Trump needs to do as he tries to win over voters just three weeks before Election Day. And it comes amid still-unanswered questions about the affect of so much travel so soon after contracting the virus on the 74-year-old’s health.

Trump, eager to return to campaigning, says he is now “immune” to the virus – a claim that is impossible to prove given limitations in what scientists know about the coronavirus.

He is seeking to change the dynamics of a race that national opinion polls and some state polls show he is losing to Democratic challenger Joe Biden, who is 77.

Biden pulled further ahead in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, building momentum in two states that Trump carried in the 2016 presidential election, Reuters/Ipsos opinion polls showed on Monday.

The polls, conducted Tuesday through Sunday, showed Biden now leading Trump by 7 percentage points in both states.

Taking advantage of his momentum and growing advantage in the polls, Biden on Monday campaigned in Ohio, where he was once considered a long shot, as he tries to expand his reach into Republican-leaning states.

Speaking to unionised auto workers in Toledo, Biden said he and former President Barack Obama played a key role in keeping the US auto industry afloat during the financial crisis and recession more than a decade ago.

“Barack and I bet on you and the American worker and it paid off,” said Biden, who is hoping to undermine what polls show is Trump’s greatest strength, the view among some voters that the former real estate entrepreneur is better at handling the economy.

Biden also appeared at a get-out-the-vote event in Cincinnati. It was Biden’s second campaign trip in as many weeks to Ohio, which was once thought out of reach but where polls now show a competitive race.

Trump won the state by 8 percentage points four years ago and almost certainly must carry it again to win re-election. No Republican has won the White House without carrying Ohio.

Separately on Monday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-disease expert, told CNN that those who recover from COVID-19 are likely to be immune for a limited period of time, but there are cases emerging of people getting reinfected weeks or months later.

Fauci, speaking as Trump prepared to depart the White House for Florida, questioned the wisdom of holding such an event. He noted that test positivity rates are climbing in parts of the Sun Belt.

“We know that that is asking for trouble when you do that,” Fauci said.

Gbagi who is also a governorship aspirant in Delta state in 2023 under the umbrella of the People's Democratic Party(PDP), spoke at a press conference held in his Oginibo country home in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

He denied any involvement in the act, which has been widely condemned by the members of the public especially the human rights community.

Gbagi also said none of his children had a hand in the act, which he claimed were politically motivated.

The politician, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of the hotel, noted that there was no warrant for his arrest from the Inspector-General of Police to him concerning the incident.

“There’s no invitation to me from the Police. I will honour the Police invitation if am invited. The Police had invited people who are higher than me, even presidents. Who am I? I will honour the Police invitation.”

While pointing out that he was at the burial ceremony of his late elder Sister, Mrs. Doris Gbagi Emareyor, Gbagi said he was never arrested by any team of policemen from Abuja.

He, however, promised to honour the invitation of the IGP if he is invited for questioning over the incident.

It was widely reported on Friday that the Inspector-General of Police had issued a warrant for the arrest of Chief Gbagi over his alleged involvement in the incident after the police raided the hotel and arrested two staff.

The governor, who spoke through his deputy, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, made the call shortly after a Special Jumat Prayer, held at the Oja-ba Central Mosque, Ibadan, in commemoration of Nigeria’s forthcoming 60th anniversary on October 1.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the governor urged all Nigerians to see themselves as their brother’s keeper.

He added that peace and security are paramount to sustain the unity of the country, warning, however, that Nigerians should see security as everyone’s responsibility.

Romance / Police Seize 324,000 Used C*ndoms Being Recycled And Resold In Vietnam(photo) by Ababbio: 3:47pm On Sep 24, 2020
Police in Vietnam have seized 324,000 used condoms which were being recycled to be sold again.

Paid workers were tasked with cleaning the rubber contraceptives before reshaping them with wooden dildos.

The condoms were then repackaged before being resold to the public and thousands had already been sent out to the unsuspecting public.

The operation was being run from a warehouse in the province of Binh Duong in the south of Vietnam

Police raided the warehouse on Saturday and seized the used prophylactics.

Pham Thi Thanh Ngoc, 33, the owner of the warehouse, was arrested and claimed she had been receiving the condoms once a month from an unknown person.

The owner allegedly cleaned, dried and sorted the condoms before selling them again to the public as if they were new.

The condoms were confiscated as evidence but will be disposed of immediately because they are considered dangerous medical waste.

A government official said: ‘’Condoms are classified as medical items, so we will take a look at the several laws that the owner has broken.’’

It is not known how many condoms had already been sold but the load found by police weighed 360kg.

Local reports said they were being supplied to hotels and market stalls near the warehouse.
