The Nigeria Army said that gallant troops of Operation Base Sabon after a diligent clearing operations, successfully smashed out some bandit's logistics suppliers, in Sokoto.



Acting Director, Defence media Operation Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, made this known in a statement on Wednesday, August 15, 2020.



According to the statement, the arms smuggler syndicate, also specialize in massive arms supply to bandits in the North West from across the international boarders.



The trio of Alhaji Adamu Alhassan, Salisu Adamu and Abdullahi Sani, who are all Nigerien citizens, were intercepted by the eagle-eyed troops at Dantudu in Mailailai District of Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State.



6 AK 47 Rifles, 3 AK 47 Rifle magazines and 2,415 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition deceptively concealed in various parts of the vehicle, were recovered from the suspects.



Preliminary investigation revealed that the dangerous consignment was meant for some bandits in Isah L.G.A of Sokoto State, which could have led to loss of thousands of innocent lives but for the swift interception by the vigilant troops.



However, one of the suspects one Alhaji Adamu Alhassan, who has underlying illness, diabetic and hypertensive experienced seizer and gave up the ghost while he was being rushed to the hospital.



Nevertheless, investigation of the other two accomplices continues in order to track and arrest all those in the chain of the heinous activity in collaboration with other intelligence and security agencies from our neighboring countries.

International flight will resume August 28, minister of aviation Hadi Sirika, has said on Monday August 17 2020.

The minister who made the announcement through a post on her verified twitter handle on Monday afternoon, said that the reopening procedure will mirror that of domestic flights where operations began with the Lagos and Abuja airports.

“Glad to announce the resumption of international flights from the 29th of August, 2020. Beginning with Lagos and Abuja as we did with the domestic flight resumption.

“Protocols and procedures will be announced in due course. We thank you for your patience,” he tweeted.

Former Super Eagle's captain John Mike Obi, has joined Stoke City FC.

He was said to be the fourth player singed by the English Club.

Information on club's website revealed that “the Nigerian international midfielder joins Morgan Fox, James Chester and Steven Fletcher in checking in at the bet365 Stadium ahead of the 2020/21 Championship season.”

Mike who had played in Chelsea FC for 11 years won a host of domestic and Europa honour during his stay in the English Club.

He returns to English football after a spell in the Turkish Super Lig with Trabzonspor.

Stoke City manager confirmed this development via the club's website, he said, “We’re delighted to bring John to the Club. His playing career speaks for itself and underlines his calibre as a player.

“I was really impressed with him when we met for the first time and he outlined what he wants from the next phase of his career.

“We spent four hours talking and he made it clear he wants to get back into the Premier League and finish his career there and hopefully he can do that with Stoke City.”

Mike had more than 370 appearances through out his stay in Chelsea, won Premier League title twice, as well as three FA Cups, the Champions League and Europa League.

After a spell in China, he played for Middlesbrough after joining them on a short-term deal in January 2019, making 19 appearances. He won 91 caps before retiring from international football following last year’s African Cup of Nations.

On his part, Mikel described joining Stoke as “a new chapter”.

Nigerian lady crushed to death by a tanker in Ajah just weeks to her weddiing laid to rest, It was an emotional day for family members and the fiance of Nigerian lady, Immaculate Emife Okochu, this morning August 17 as her body was laid to rest.

Insidenaija had earlier report that, husband of the lady whose wedding ceremony is about two weeks but was on Wednesday, August 12, crushed to death by trailer, paid tribute to his late bride to be, via post on his Instagram page.

Her remains is being finally laid to rest today.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said, southern Kaduna leaders accusing him of taking sides want to be “appeased” but notes that his administration will not grease the palms of trouble-makers.

In an interview on Chanel TV's programme, Sunday Politics, El-Rufai said, “I have no time for nonsense. I will not appease criminals. I will not appease idle people who have nothing to do but to raise a spectre of genocide. They do that to get money into their bank accounts and get donations from abroad instead of standing up.”

The southern part of the state has experienced the worst form of carnage in recent times with hundreds of residents murdered by bandits and other enemies of peace.

Insidenaija had earlier reported that some leaders in Southern Kaduna including a lawmaker representing Zagon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Amos Magaji , have since cried out and fingered the governor for taking sides in the clashes between various ethnic and religious groups in the region.

But the governor, on Sunday evening, said the crisis rocking the region has a 40-year history and past and present governments have tried to stabilise it.

El-Rufai, however, countered the claim by Magaji that he is taking sides, saying, “Anyone that is moderate anyone that is promoting peaceful co-existence between various ethnic groups is considered a sellout. And a governor like me, who does not appease them because they are used to being appeased, they cause troubles, they organise these killings and then, their leaders are invited by the governor, they wine and dine and they are given brown envelopes. That’s what they have been doing for 20 years.

“And we came into office and we said no more, nobody who does not encourage peaceful co-existence will have access to the governor or the Government House. I have no time for them. I am using the security agents to carefully mark them and when we accumulate enough evidence, we will get them and put them before a judge.”

He added, “Most of the people saying that have no means of livelihood; they were living off the governments. The governments before us were paying them money every month, they called it peace money. We stopped it. This is why they say I am taking sides. Whatever they say, I take it. I am the governor of the state. If they don’t abuse me, who will they abuse?

“But let the facts speak for themselves. Let them contradict any fact that we say. We have the facts. We have the security agencies. We have information more than any of them and we know what we are doing and we know what we are spending to try keep Southern Kaduna safe.

“For years, every Commission of Inquiry said there should be a permanent military base in Southern Kaduna. We established it. There have been service chiefs from Southern Kaduna in the military base.

“But now they have come up with other things because the money they got during the election is exhausted and they can say whatever they want to say. But I want everyone to know this very clear – I will not appease trouble-maker, I will not tolerate people that incite. I will map them, we will arrest and prosecute them, that’s my style, I obey the rule of law.”

On Friday, August 14th, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) rolled out employment indices for the second quarter of 2020 (April-June). In the analysis, Kwara’s unemployment rate slowed from 21.1% to 13.8% — one of the lowest in the whole of Nigeria.

These statistics again underscore the superlative performance of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who continues to pull all the strings to improve the lot of Kwara people.


We take cognisance of the fact that the low unemployment rate posted for Kwara came at the height of COVID-19 lockdown when millions of jobs were lost in Nigeria and revenue was at an all-time low.

This was the time that the Governor vigorously committed public resources to the fight against the pandemic with the strategic engagement of local people for production of face masks, sanitisers, supply of palliatives, unabated funding of road and school rehabilitation projects across the state, patronage for local contractors, engagement of hundreds of hands for the state’s social investment programmes, payment of soft loans to various categories of people in the informal (market) sector, and constant payment of salaries to government employees.

He equally ensured that major firms remain in partial operation in strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocols. All of these ensured minimal loss of jobs while rolling out micro-economic strategies to keep people productively engaged and tackle mass poverty.


We congratulate the Governor for this feat and urge him to remain focused in the task of stabilising Kwara for socioeconomic development.

Notwithstanding the scarcity of resources, we are confident that the state will continue to shine and regain its status nationally as the Governor continues to prioritise the welfare of the masses.

Kano State Chapter of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria, has lauded the Sharia's Court for sentencing 22-year-old singer, Yahaya Sharif-Aminu to death by hanging for blaspheming against Prophet Muhammad(SAW).

The Nation report that, the singer is a resident of Sharifai quarters in Kano municipal, was sued for “insulting religious creed, contrary to Section 382 (6) of Kano State Shari’a Penal Code Law 2000.”

Sharif-Aminu was said to have sing a song that blaspheme against Prophet Muhammad, which went viral in March 2020. He was however, arraigned before the Sharia court in August, having found guilty, the prisiding Juge Khadi Aliyu Muhammad Kani, ordered that he be hanged until he dies.

In a statement issued the Chairman of the Muslim Lawyers, Muhammad Sani Garba Esq, the lawyer said the judge was right in his judgment in which he convicted and sentenced the accused to death without prejudice because the Supreme Court had set a precedent in the case of Abubakar Shalla Vs State in 2007.

Other supporters of the judgment are Kano State council of Friday mosque Imams and the Kano State Hisbah Board, and have also appealed to the State governor Abdullahi Ganduje to sign the execution of the penalty. MULAN also urged Ganduje to sign the death warrant. The governor has not reacted to the ruling, yet.

The statement reads:

“The position of the Law under Shari’a is that any sane and adult muslim, who insults, defames, or utters words or acts which are capable of bringing into disrepute, odium, contempt of the holy Prophet, such a person has committed a serious crime punishable by death…

“The general public should understand that Shari’a is a Muslim Law applicable only to Muslims. Any person who accepts to be Muslim must obey the provisions of Shari’a, whether it pleases him or not. Those who are not followers of Islamic faith should be reminded that the constitution of Nigeria guarantees Nigerians to practice and observe the religion of their choice and be bound by its Laws and principles…”

“We urge the Executive arm of Kano State government to ensure strict compliance to the Judgement, as part of its commitment towards proper implementation of Sharia.”

There is an outrage going on social media after two young boys were reportedly set ablaze for stealing phone in Kenya, insidenaija can report.

The incident happened at the Komarock Estate, Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday, August 8, 2020.

It was gathered that they were first nabbed by a bike man who allegedly beat them and then strip them naked, before setting them ablaze alive.

Anja Ringgren Loven, a philanthropist who has rescued numerous children branded witches and abandoned in Akwa Ibom State and Femi Fani-Kayode joined to express outrage after photos of the boys stripped naked with a tyre placed on them went viral. Another photo shows fire blazing, allegedly burning the boys’ bodies

“They removed part of the motorcycle, bought petrol and used it to end the lives of the two young boys,” a shop keeper in the area said.

Buruburu police boss Adamson Bungei condemned the mob attack while also advising youths to desist from crime.

“It is time the youth stop involving in crime since the fruits are so bitter. But members of the public should also not take action into their own hands,” he said.

Condemning the barbaric attack after it went viral, Femi Fani-Kayode wrote:

“How can a nation, a continent and a people that indulge in this type of wickedness ever escape God’s wrath? You burn two children alive simply because they stole a mobile phone? God have mercy on you and all those that support and encourage this savagery and barbarity. Jungle justice is NO justice: it is madness!”

Anja Loven threatened to “hunt down” the perpetrators as she mourned the boys who she says are around the same age as her son.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improve the security situation in every part of the country.

Buhari made this known after meeting with his service Chiefs, and North East governors at the presidential Villa, on Monday, August 10, 2020.

According to him, the government is doing its best to ensure that military personnel are properly equipped so that they can deliver their best.

He said, as a part of efforts to improve security situation of every part of Nigeria, the government is investing heavily in acquiring modern equipment for military personnel, adding that some equipment had already arrived Nigeria.

However, the president urged Nigerians to be patient with him in this regard, saying that substantial improvements we be seen soon. Notting that security of the lives and property of all Nigerians will continue to be a priority for the government.

In his words:

“We are working very hard to ensure the security situation in every part of Nigeria improves very soon. As part of our efforts, we are investing heavily in acquiring modern equipment. Some have arrived, some are being cleared at the Ports, and we have others still on their way.

“Our government is doing its best on the question of equipment, and the military know. We understand the importance of properly equipping our personnel, so that they can deliver their best.

“I ask for some patience with the acquisition of equipment, especially with the impact of Covid-19 on global supply chains. And then when the equipment arrive, we need to train personnel for their usage, ahead of deployment to the field.

“I want all Nigerians to rest assured that we are doing our very best in this regard. You will see substantial improvements very soon. Security of the lives and property of all Nigerian people will continue to be a priority for us.”

A newborn baby thrown into a soakaway has been rescheduled alive in Ogun state.

Insidenaija gathered that the baby(a boy) was rescued after his cries was heard on Saturday, August 8, by children playing near the soakaway located at Oyo Avenue Olorin Community in Adiyan, Ogun state.

However, having heard the baby's cries the children promptly went to inform a woman that a cock has fallen into the pit, the woman got there and discovered that it wasn't a cock but a baby, and alerted people.

People in the neighbourhood then made efforts to rescue the boy and report the incident to Agbado police station.

Policemen from the police station then visit the scene, a welder then helped to cut the iron bars covering the soakaway and the baby boy was brought out.

The baby boy was believed to be a day old due to the appearance of his belly and was taken to the Oke Aro Medical Healthcare Center for treatments.

Osimhen who reacted to the news, through a post on his verified twitter handle on Sunday afternoon, said, he never made such a statement, saying that the news was fabricated by journalists.

Recall that it was widely reported on Saturday, that the 21-year-old player in an interview said, he would like to make history in Napoli, like Diego Maradona.

According to him, since the passing away of his late father he has never been granted any interview, adding that journalists should desist from circulating fake news.

“I never said such a thing,y’all copy paste journalist just like to fabricate lies,since the passing of my late father I haven’t grant any interview whatsoever,stop this nonsense else na thunder go fire una,” he tweeted.
