According to report, Saudi Arabian government will allow Pilgrims living within the to undertake the Umrah pilgrimage, slated to commence on October 4, after being shut for about seven months due to the corona virus pandemic.

Saudi Arabia, in March, in other to stop the spread of corona virus disease, ordered the shut down of Umrah, which is an Islamic pilgrimage to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina undertaken any time of the year, attracting 19 million people last year.

Saudi Arabia has now permit 6,000 citizens and residents inside the kingdom to perform Umrah daily, representing 30 percent of a revised capacity of 20,000 that takes into account precautionary health measures, SPA said.

That will expand to 75 percent of capacity on October 18. Beginning on November 1, the kingdom will allow visitors from specific countries deemed safe to perform Umrah at 100 percent of the revised capacity, until the end of the pandemic, SPA added.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is developing a mobile application that will be available a week before the Umrah resumes, so that pilgrims can register and book on it. They will also need to follow the health guidelines provided in the app.

The decision to resume Umrah came after the kingdom organised the smallest Hajj in modern history in late July, with only up to 10,000 Muslims allowed to take part in total – a far cry from the 2.5 million who participated last year.

Health authorities said no coronavirus cases were reported at the holy sites during the Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam and a must for able-bodied Muslims at least once in their lifetime.

Hajj pilgrims circled the sacred Kaaba – a cubic structure inside Mecca’s Grand Mosque towards which Muslims around the world pray – along socially distant paths.

The kingdom has sought to contain a spike in infections, which have now risen to more than 330,000 cases – the highest in the Gulf – and at least 4,500 deaths.

But Saudi Arabia has also reported a high rate of recoveries, which surpassed 312,000 on Tuesday.

Last week, Saudi Arabia partially lifted its suspension on international flights, six months after travel curbs were imposed due to the pandemic.

PoliticsPlace Visa Ristriction On Election Riggers Like US, Saraki Tells EU, UK by Ababbio(op): 5:45pm On Sep 15, 2020
Former Senate president Bukola Saraki has called on the European Union and the United Kingdom to copy the United states and place visa ban on election riggers in Nigeria.

Saraki made the call on Tuesday while speaking at an event organised by the Centre for Advancement of Civil Liberties to mark this year’s International Day of Democracy.

Recall that the United States on Monday placed visa ristriction on individuals who participated in the rigging Kogi and Bayelsa states election, about a year after it took similar measures against those who compromised the 2019 elections.

Saraki applauded the United States for their gesture, saying that such ristriction is necessary steps to caution the enemies of democracy, and that they should be extended to electoral and security officials.

"The US decision to place visa restrictions on certain Nigerian politicians for their ignoble roles in the 2019 elections is commendable,” he said.

“I call on the UK and the European Union to follow suit. This is necessary to send the right and strong signal that those who undermine democracy in Nigeria are enemies of the rest of the democratic world.

“The sanctions should go beyond politicians and include electoral officers, security officials and judicial officers who undermine our democracy by their actions during and after elections," Saraki said.

According to him, rigging of election is not only done at the polls, but extends to other areas such as the registration of voters, emergence of candidates, operations of political parties, preparations by the electoral commission, independence of the electoral commission and neutrality of the security agencies.

However, Saraki called for a speedy passage of the electoral act to improve the credibility of elections as well as an end to the “illegal interference in the electoral process by security agencies".

“May be there should be a law that prevents the deployment of the military for election assignments. We should ensure strict compliance with the law on this and even go further to enshrine this in our constitution,” he said.

“It is also important we come in strong in the enforcement of the provisions of the law which provides for punishment of politicians, law enforcement agents, ordinary citizens and electoral officers who are caught subverting the electoral process.”

TV/MoviesBbnaija: Erica Releases Official Statement Since Disqualification, Thank Fans by Ababbio(op):
Erica Nlewedim, the disqualified Big Brother Naija lockdown housemate, has on Tuesday, September 15, took to her Instagram page to release official statement since she left the game.

The actress and reality star was overwhelmed by the number of fans she gathered in less than three months, amounting to 800,000 plus followers on Instagram.

Erica was evicted from the big brother house on September 6, for breaking the house’s rules.

She went to the extent of threatening to make life miserable for Laycon. She even went as far as threatening to kill him once they meet outside the Big Brother house. Fuuny right? These two make a perfect pair.

She stated that she went into the house with her strength and weaknesses, and is learning to get familiar with her new reality.

See her post below:

July 19th was the beginning of the rest of my life when I took the decision to be on the Bigbrother show.

Excited as I was, I couldn’t fathom what the future held. I stepped into the house as an open book, believing in my strengths and weaknesses which I bore for the world to see.

I was confident that these will enable me navigate through life in the house. Nothing however prepares you for the events of life except the experiences and the onus was on me to learn and live.

My experiences were at an equilibrium as I made the best of friends, honed existing skills, discovered new ones, lived in the moment and partied away. However, my sad times took precedence and my journey was shortened.

It was a really sad moment for me because I knew I had not only let my self down but an entire army and family called the Elites.

The Elite League stood by me all through, all 800k of them and counting and I couldn’t be more grateful for you all. I love you guys so much.

Life threw lemons at me and the Elite league made Margaritas with it lol I couldn’t be more grateful for the genuine love, time, prayers, energy, emotions and passion with which you carried my matter, a total stranger. Because of you, Erica Nlewedim the fairly known actress is now dubbed STAR GIRL ⭐

Indeed, It was never in the stars to hold my destiny because the STAR IS ME⭐️.

To all my amazing stars out there, thanks for being there all there all the way. Now we shine!!!

Thank you.
