MadCow1: Erm,,,

Oga, stop going back in time like you are in a time capsule. angry

Taiwo and Co's set were frauds. The last set of fraudulent players in age grade tourneys that Nigeria has ever had were the Yemi Tella Boys with the likes of Chrisantus and co. Now FIFA has introduced the MRI testing systtem which carries a 99% accuracy until the age of 17. So Kelechi Iheanachos set are actually the future Golden Generation of the Super Eagles IF the NFF would realize their folly and step-up their player development programme. What do I mean;

Neymar had the advantage of having a Football Father who helped shepherd him through his career. By 17, he was playing in the Senior Team of Santos in the Brazillian League. Messi and Fabregas had been in Barcelona since Age 11 so you can imagine the wealth of experience they had acquired.

All these beautiful and talented young Nigerian Players would all end up like Mikel Obi if they are not properly handled. I would have thought that by now, the NFF wo0uld have an understanding with clubs in countries like; example Netherland, whose clubs like Ajax of Amsterdam have at one time or the other produced some of our renowed ex-eagles like Kanu Nwankwo, Tijani Babangida, Finidi George, Sunday Oliseh, Pius Ikedia and co and have an active scouting team here where we give them first dibs at our players. What happens with our boys is that they flourish in youth torunaments and somehow fall out of luck in career progression. No real good club comes for them. Then they end up in some obscure european country playing in their lower leagues and die there.

If we cant get the partnership of foreign clubs, then we can develop our home league and make the competition tougher and up the stakes.

If we dont, then I am sorry, back to the same ol' style we are used to.
OK, let's wait and see. I understand ur point about MRI introduced in 2009. We will actually know if its fraud or not in a few years to see if these boys can still play to their potential. And thank God u realize taiye taiwo and co were frauds.

Syenite: Abeg una compare: Tell me Azeez, Omeruo and Onazi look older than Pogba
Physical looks alone is not enough to determine true age. What matters is how long they are able to play at top level. How many Nigerians play at top level in the late 20's/early 30's? That is the normal age most European players peak. There is only one explanation.. a Nigerian footballer at 27 is actually 37.. past his best. Where are the Obafemi martins, Taye taiwo, Nsofor, Ogbuke etc. I thought they were the future of the Super eagles a few years ago. Their mates in Europe are still playing at top level.

Martins and taiye taiwo are 29 (official age)
Nsofor is 27
Ogbuke is 28.

These are normal peak age for players. But these old men have already passed their best.

Africa should Boycott this and that like they will miss us.... European have been crying for more places.. African voluntary given up 5 spots will be like manna from Heaven to Some other countries.

People shout racism as if Matuidi and Neymar were white, or Brazil is a white nation

J Rodriguez was ticked from piller to post
Abi ooo. Top players like ibrahimovic and lewadowski are not playing in the world cup because their teams failed to qualify... And because we are forced to watch disgraceful Cameroon and other African countries. Abeg let Africa boycott the world cup, then there will be more slots for people like Gareth bale, lewadowski and ibrahimovic who's countries fail to qualify.

thegoodjoehunt: So you think Neymar will prefer being handicapped for weeks. Strapped and immobilised. He can not play his last games at the World Cup. To being beaten ten times.

I bet you, Neymar would have preferred being bitten to having his backbone broken.

Same with Onazi.
U still do not understand. Yes neymar would rather be bit and still play than receive a bad challenge and get injured. What happened to neymar is part of football. U get paid to play, to be tackled, to be pulled, to be pushed, even to be elbowed. But biting.... Hmm BITING is absolutely out if the question. At least the player that injured neymar went for the ball. Suarez did not go for the ball... The ball wasn't even close, that is animalistic to be sincere. What if he had poison in his teeth and he happened to tear a blood vessel in the course of the stewpid useless bite?

WE ARE TRYING TO ERADICATE BARBARISM FROM THE BEAUTIFUL GAME. Quit supporting Suarez.

thegoodjoehunt: No card was given in Suarez's case and yet it was not over. Fifa investigated the case and took action.
Please, don't even bring Suarez's case into this because what he did was a disgrace and barbaric. How can u bite ur fellow player. That is not his first or second but his 3rd in about 3 years. Suarez deserve more punishment to be sincere. Tackling is part of football, biting has no place in football.

Thank u very much my brother. We must first solve our own problems and play at top level. After we do that we can then start tackling FIFA if we think we are being cheated.
SportsRe: The Rise And Rise Of The "John Obu's Boys". by abatically(m): 1:00am On Jul 07, 2014
Don't be deceived by youth tournaments. They are full of over aged players that are already at their peaks. By the time they make it to the super eagles, they will be past their best hence fall at the biggest stage. Then we start all over again. Come 2022 we will still be saying we have a bright future and that by 2030 we will rule the world.... And the cycle continues. Onazi 21.... Really? Let's see how many more years he can still play at top level.
SportsRe: Opinion: Africa Should Boycott The Next World Cup by abatically(m): 12:12am On Jul 07, 2014

SportsRe: Opinion: Africa Should Boycott The Next World Cup by abatically(m): 11:58pm On Jul 06, 2014
thegoodjoehunt: You are talking of calls denied. That is a referee making a wrong call. The OP is talking about Maradona pointing out that what Matuidi did was worse than Suarez' bite. Yet FIFA turned a deaf ear.

Now it is Neymar, a Brazilian, FIFA is ready to investigate.

So are you saying because a referee made wrong calls in favor of Cameroun, Onazi's leg break should not be investigated? A lot of wrong calls favored Brazil, yet these guys are ready to investigate Neymar.

Please I do not agree with Africans keeping quiet in the face of injustice.

The OP is just asking for equality. If Neymar's case is to be investigated, then do the same for Onazi.
Don't believe in everything u read. Moreover, there is really nothing to investigate about Onazi's tackle, it happens everyday in football. Also Neymar's tackle happens everyday in football, if referee didn't give the card when the incident occurred, then its over. But then there was news that Neymar felt like he was paralysed when the incident occurred which made FIFA feel like they should investigate. I know they are just speculations, nothing will be done to Juan Zuniga. Also let's face the fact, Neymar is a player we dream to have in our team.. add all our players together them still no match his talents.. he's the golden boy of Brazil and they are just getting the edge as the host. Nothing more.

SportsRe: Opinion: Africa Should Boycott The Next World Cup by abatically(m):
WHY AFRICA MUST IMPROVE THEIR FOOTBALL INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING AND LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO BLAME

You guys are quick to blame FIFA for Africa's failure, but fail to tackle the main reason Africa can't win the world cup. The number one reason why we can't win the world cup yet is INDISCIPLINE.

Of the five African teams which qualified to play in the World Cup, three were involved in pay scandals. Players from Cameroon got their protest in before the tournament had even started. They refused to board a plane to Brazil following an argument over money, delaying their arrival by almost a day. Next, Ghana made a laughing stock of itself when it flew $3m in cash to Brazil to avert a match boycott by players demanding their appearance fees. Finally, Nigeria’s Super Eagles cancelled a training session ahead of the crucial knockout round in protest over bonus payments. Presidential intervention was required to settle that argument.

It got worse from there. Ghana’s team fell apart only hours after its cash arrived. Two of its players were sent home, one for an alleged “unprovoked physical attack” on a Football Association (FA) official, and one for reportedly swearing at his coach. Then there were the match-fixing allegations. Cameroon’s football federation says it is investigating claims that seven “bad apples” on its team were involved in fixing the results of games.

Just take a look at this.

https://twitpic.com/show/thumb/e6gdum.gif

Now u talk about FIFA favoring other countries?

A lot of decisions went Africa's way but I will only list a few.

1. Mexico vs Cameroun: Giovani Dos Santos scored 2 legitimate goals that were wrongly ruled out for offside. If that was against an African country it would have been a case study by now. But Mexico moved on, while Africans are still complaining.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/br-cdn/temp_images/2014/06/13/8512b5d7573de12f26b89e6b85a26b89.gif?1402676864

2. Mexico vs Cameroun: Giovani Dos Santo's stone wall penalty that wasn't given. Again if that was against an African country we all would be crying by now and blaming FIFA.

3. Mexico vs Cameroun: Alex Song's 2 footed tackle on Dos Santos. Definite red card offence, he didn't even go for the ball. But guess what, he didn't get red. In the match report it stated that Song was lucky not to see red, but if that happened to an African player we all will be saying racism, fifa hates us, bla bla bla just like the case of Matuidi who was lucky not to see red just like Song, but Nigerians always look for someone to blame, so we blame FIFA.

4. Nigeria vs Bosnia: Edin Dzeko's legitimate goal that was ruled out for offside. Now nobody talks about this anymore, but u guys forgot if this goal had stood, we probably wouldn't have made it into the second round. If that was a Nigerian goal, I'm sure hundreds of threads would have been opened describing how FIFA didn't want us to get into the second round.

https://cdn1.vox-cdn.com/assets/4651473/Blown_offsides.png

You talk about Matuidi's tackle on Onazi?
Yes its a bad tackle, but this thing happens in football. Onazi is not the first player to suffer a bad tackle in the world cup, so why the whinning? Again simple tactic by the French coach. Take out Onazi and Matuidi did this

Now ask an African player to take out a player and he did this

https://s3.amazonaws.com/br-cdn/temp_images/2014/06/21/afd1fb3ebeeaf5e36f93202dab76abf8.gif?1403359927

The difference between the 2? One went for the ball and missed, 50/50 situation depending on how the ref sees it. The other took out the player blatantly without the ball which leaves the ref with no option than give a red card.

Until we sort out our discipline problems and improve our academies, stop age cheating.. we will never win the world cup. Africa lack real talents when it comes to the big stage. We thrive in youth tournaments because we use over aged players. When it is time for these players to get into the national team, they would be too old and past their best and that is why we Bleep up at the highest level.

Just think what would have happened if they were still in the World Cup. Colombia received a hero's welcome in Bogota on Sunday as thousands of fans showed up to celebrate their tournament success. Seriously. Look at that.

And yes these are PEOPLE.

These are people with true passion about football and their country, not Nigeria that have fake 'eye service' passion. Colombia crashed in the quater finals, they have a better team than Nigeria who crashed in the second round. But what happened in Nigeria, it was blames left right and center. We blamed Keshi, blamed mikel, blamed Yobo, blamed Matuidi, some even blamed FIFA. We never accept we lost fairly, that is one thing with Africans. We will always look for someone to blame instead of improving on our mistakes. How will our team do well when we don't show them support? Our players don't feel loved, this is one of the reason Enyeama and others are considering quitting the Super Eagles.

Injera: Ah! ah!I agree that the SE is also an average team, but disagree the French not being one.At best just a little notch above 9ja.BTW the term 'world class' player is a highly subjective, relative word.French team came in through the back door, losing 2 nil to Ukrain in the play-offs!ah!I wonder what might have been had Onazi been on the pitch. And BTW in this world only few teams really dominated their opponents.
Yes France came through the back door, but no denying they have better quality than the super eagles. Its just like blaming Southampton for losing against Chelsea, or blaming Villareal for losing against Barcelona. Yes in football anything can happen, but most of the times the better team always win. If Southampton beats Chelsea, fans will hail them, but when they lose against Chelsea, all is still fine because they know they don't have Chelsea's quality anyway.
SportsRe: If You Prefer Okocha ,have Your Say Here!! by abatically(m): 3:53pm On Jul 06, 2014
Injera: You call going out to an average French team not being 'broken',struggling with set-pieces and squandering our own not being 'broken'huh?Keshi has really tried but is time for him to pack up and go.
You call France an average team? We can't match them player for player. The problem Nigerians have is expecting too much from an Average team. France has about 4-5 world class players in their team, we have non. Evra, Benzema, Valbuena, Matuidi, Lloris, Kocienly, Varane, Cabaye all are top players playing for top teams. What do we have in Nigeria? Mikel, Moses that are bench warmers. We don't have a single world class player, our best player is Enyeama and he's not even world class yet. France are a far better team than us. We should just accept defeat, afterall USA (a better team than Nigeria) also went down in the second round and they welcomed their team. Algeria, also a better team went down and they cheered their team. Italy, Spain, England didn't even make it to the second round. Mexico, Chile all have better team than Nigeria and they went down in the second round but they get love from their country.

Here in Nigeria, we have an average team that went down to a superior French team and all we do is BLAME BLAME BLAME. Sack Keshi, get another coach.. but u can't force average players to play like a top team.. IMPOSSIBLE.
SportsRe: If You Prefer Okocha ,have Your Say Here!! by abatically(m): 3:40pm On Jul 06, 2014
Injera: When Keshi benches Mikel then will I be convince he is indeed the 'big boss' BTW why is Mikel still in the team? Even tho it's clear to all that he is the weakest link.
Yes Mikel is the weak link, bit the truth is there's no one to replace him in the team. Mikel has abilities even though he hasn't shown them recently. He is the most experienced in our midfield and he can hold the ball for other players to run and find space. The problem is he didn't show non of that at the world cup. The bigger problem is other central midfielders in that team are worse. Reuben, uchebo? Don't even make me laugh. Keshi's biggest mistake was dropping Sunday Mba as he would have been a perfect replacement for Mikel. Even John Ogbu would have done better.
SportsRe: C.ronaldo Vs L.messi (their Abilities And Comaprisms) by abatically(m): 10:53am On Jul 06, 2014
Football is not mathematics, Ronaldo has more overall attributes than messi, but some attributes carry more weight than others. Messi is more technical than ronaldo. This means he can bring other players into play, better team work. This is what Ronaldo is lacking. Ronaldo plays for glory, he is fast and can shoot from anywhere, but his team play is very low compared to Messi.

Both players are tremendous goal scorers, though Ronaldo might have an edge. I still think Messi is a better player. But if u ask me I would rather watch Ronaldo at his best than Messi at his best because Ronaldo is more of entertainer.

The control knobs will come off in no time. The only scenario where I will pick the matrix is if it is the 4wd version.

it's a gossip though, the source says it all.
Manchester city didn't have champions league when they signed robinho and tevez. Monaco didn't have champions league when they signed falcao. So broda having champions league is no issue. What matters is the how good the deal is, the coach and the ambition of the club. When a player sees that a certain club has ambition and they are signing top players, he will move since he knows with the players they are signing, champions league place is guaranteed.

Being a good player doesn't automatically mean someone can be a good coach. Anyone remember naradona coaching Argentina? Jay jay is one of the finest Nigeria has produced no doubt, but that is not enough to make him a good coach. Personally I think he is too gentle to handle the super eagles. Anybody that can handle the super eagles has to be someone with some degrees of rascality, someone that can make a commanding decision, someone that can enforce discipline. Jay jay is too gentle abeg. We need someone that can face the press, someone that is outspoken and can talk his way into playing mind games. Someone like mourinho, Ferguson, etc. I'm not saying we should employ mourinho, just an illustration.
