ojofu: so u think goalkeeping is all about guessing? u are wrong bro. they see the direction the ball is going before diving for the ball and this happens in a split second. "As soon as the ball is kicked " that is the key, the direction of the ball can be judged the moment the ball is kicked. my friend it is not a guessing game.
Go ask a professional footballer they will tell u goalkeepers guess at least 70% of the times during penalties especially if the penalty is being taken by a specialist. No goalkeeper will save van persie, ronaldo, robben penalties unless they guess. So u actually think all those penalties where goalkeepers go the wrong direction is as a result of the takers deceiving them? LWKMD. The situation whereby they don't guess is when the penalty is being taken by a novice.. e.g Victor Moses slow penalties.

gustav25: the free kick doubters...u guyz forgot juninho who has 67 career freekick goalz and still counting
I am not doubting Juninho, He's still the best free kick taker the world has seen but he's now retired. If he scored 67 career free kick goals, there's possibility Ronalddo might get to that mileage. Ronaldo still has at least 6 years of football left in him. I respect Juninho, my comment was made because someone said Ronaldo is not a free kick specialist, I mean the stats speak for itself.
SportsRe: So, Why Didn't Enyeama Dive For That Messi's Freekick? by abatically(m): 11:24pm On Jun 28, 2014
ojofu: A keeper will wait for ball to be hit first before diving but some do dive for the ball if they know the direction the player will kick the ball to, for example casillas did this against chile in 2010 because he knew where sanchez will put the ball after being notified by reina, . I did not say that they should have jump before the ball was kicked but can make their decision to jump or not after the ball had been kicked. Note this, everything in football happens in split second, that is why they need total concentration.
ha ha ha.. this shows ur knowledge of football is low, no need arguing with u. Goalkeepers do not wait for a penalty taker to shoot before they dive. Goalkeepers choose their side and dive as soon as the ball is hit. Good luck trying to wait for players like van persie, Ronaldo, Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Suarez, Robben, Ibrahimovic, etc before u dive. I can assure u they will score 100 out of 100 provided they are all ON TARGET. The only chance u have of saving any of them is to go for the ball as soon as soon as it is hit. So its either u get the direction and make the save, or u completely miss it.. If a goalkeeper waits for the ball to be hit... yes he will get the direction but will never save it as the ball will be too fast. Unless of course u count those silly penalties Victor moses take as good penalties.

kendrick93: messi, suarez, gerratd, pirlo, etc imo are beter especially pirlo and messi. when i mean specialist,it means ability to apply curve/spin on d ball. ronaldo is mostly about shot power
It doesn't matter how u play ur free kick, the important thing is to get it in the back of the net.. Ronaldo gets the job done, of what good is a beautiful free kick if it didn't end up in the back of the net?

One question... will u say Drogba is not a goal scorer because he doesn't score beautiful goals.. most of his goals are as a result of force and power.. Ibrahimovic scores more beautiful goals than Ronaldo.. but it doesn't make him a better goal machine than Ronaldo. SO my guy, Ronaldo is a free kick specialist with 50 career free kick goals.. show me a player that can beat that. As at 2013, Pirlo at 34 has scored 40 free kick goals... I don't know how much he scored this year. Ronaldo is 29, I'm sure before the end of his career he will probably get up to 65 free kick goals. Now u still think he's not a specialist?

ojofu: Anticipation is the key. They are supposed to note the flight of the ball before taking the decision to either jump or stand to block the ball.
Anticipation u say? Guy na wa for u oo. Are u sure u know anything about football. At what speed do u think the ball travels during a well taken free kick. This things happen in split seconds, so if I get u right, the wall should wait until the ball is hit before deciding to jump or not to?

Let me ask u, during penalty kicks, does the keeper wait for the ball to be hit before diving or does he choose a side to dive to before the ball is hit.
Music/RadioRe: Tonto Dikeh – Sugar Rush Ft. D’banj (Prod. DeeVee) by abatically(m): 7:54pm On Jun 28, 2014
Not bad but also nothing special about the song. It shows Tonto put a lot of effort .. but she sounds like a little girl just starting to sing. Also the song was not well mastered.. or maybe its just Tonto's voice, she's not a natural musician.,

Bottom Line: ITS NOT IN TONTO
SportsRe: So, Why Didn't Enyeama Dive For That Messi's Freekick? by abatically(m): 7:24pm On Jun 28, 2014
ojofu: Those guys are not logs of wood and they are there to block the ball no matter the flight of the ball. Are you saying that they did not see the ball going over their heads? if you watch the replay, you will notice that they jumped after the ball was well over their heads.
In my own opinon, it is lack of concentration.
SO what if the whole wall jumped and messi decided to play it under the wall like ronaldo did against bayern. Then u will come here and blame the wall for jumping.

https://giant.gfycat.com/GloriousClumsyCaterpillar.gif

OP... IS THIS ALSO MATCH FIXING?

Now from the below youtube video, its the exact same free kick messi scored against Nigeria.. this time against Paraguay. Goalkeeper took his position like enyeama did, messi struck a perfect free kick. The whole wall jumped but couldn't get to the ball because messi got the trajectory perfectly. Now the goalkeeper took about 2-3 steps before diving for the ball but still couldn't get to it because the ball was always going away from him. No way Enyeama could save that free kick if he jumped, he was already caught off guard. The only way he could have saved it was to make the movement before the free kick was taken.. but the downside is if he did that and messi played in the opposite direction, then the blame will be on him because his top priority is to defend his own side of the post while the wall handles the other side.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeIqF9lv-3k

What is my point? A good free kick would always go in no matter what the wall or goalkeeper does.. let's give credit to Messi rather than looking for someone to blame.

Rossikk: Why Didn't Enyeama Dive For that Messi's Freekick?

I also find his positioning for the kick very dodgy indeed. Like he was inviting Messi to score on his left side. The gap he left to his left was so wide. So why didn't he dive when the ball got there? Where else was he expecting the ball to go? ALL VERY VERY DODGY.

Match fixing anyone?
Is this also match fixing?

U can't blame anyone bro. If efe and Yobo had jumped and Messi kicks the ball low under the wall like Ronaldo did against bayern Munich, then who would u blame? U will still blame the wall for jumping? Just accept it's a perfectly taken free kick. Full stop

shadrach77: This is why I laugh when I saw some people, comparing Enyeama with Rufai. Two of those goals were his fault. The second and third. Though the defenders are also partly to blame for failing to cover the second vertical bar angry angry angry
The 3rd goal was from corner, that could beat any goalkeeper, no way that was enyeama's fault. Talking about Peter rufai, in as much as I like him, his biggest weak point was from corner kicks. Go watch the games he plays, he always made wrong decision coming out for corners and this is where enyeama shines, he is commanding in the air.

hollandis: I hope his assistant or should I say partner in crime is going also.We dont need such people in the team

Nigeria was not able to play beautiful football .Nothing interesting, played heart attack football .I had to record the argentina match
When has Nigeria or Africa in general ever played beautiful football since the class of 1994. You want a Kia picanto to run like a Ferrari? Impossible. Africa football is always about brute force and long range shots, there's nothing u can do about it since the talent is minimal. Let's face the truth here, the team is shyte, no single work class player, in fact Nigeria hasn't produced a single word class player since kanu nwankwo. That is not Keshi's fault.

Keshi won the nation's cup after 19 years of barenness from foreign coaches, got us through the last 16 of the world cup since 1998, won a world cup match for Nigeria since 1998 (after 16 years of no world cup victory). He deserves some credits. Nigeria can't play the beautiful football we all desire, u know why? We don't have the players and no coach in this world can make this bunch of players play sexy football. The only hope we have is use what we have which is brute force and physicality.... Just like every other African team.. And then hope we have a little bit of LUCK. Yes, we need luck.

Last bulket: Spanish Tiki taka vs Nigerian scatter scatter, . Right now I would take Nigerian scatter scatter over Tiki taka because Tiki taka are out while scatter scatter made it to last 16.

Yes i know FOR FACT he couldn't see the ball..if you watched the match (like you should have been doing before arguing uselessly) you would have heard how enyeama was screaming at his wall (emenike, mikel etc) to move towards the left and cover the corner where messi placed his freekick but they didn't move quick enough.

Ghana sent an airplane with over $3 million to brazil to pay their players. I'm not saying Nigeria should do that.. just an illustration. In England and other countries.. players are not paid for playing for their country, they play for pride.. but then their countries will stand by them in difficult times which is not the same with Nigeria. $15,000 might be chicken change to some big boys in the team but to some its a big deal. They are a team.. If 4 players say they want thier money.. the rest has to join to be in solidarity even though they don't need the money.

In as much as its a shameful act.. on the other side I won't blame them. We all know this is naija.. and naija things are always pay as u go. If they don't collect the money now and they get knocked out in the round of 16, then they can kiss the money goodbye.. e don enter story be that. Nigeria government don't care about welfare of their players in case of injury or retirement... This is why players demand for their allowance before hand.

Dhelake: I got angry at some point in the last game, He bursts forward pretty fast which is very good but most times he ends up giving the ball to the opponents which puts a lot of pressure on the back line, he really has Osaze to thank for helping him with his defensive duties, Right now, he is the weakest link in that defense
Ambrose plays central defence for celtic. he is more of a central defender, maybe Keshi should play him centrally and look for another right back. He plays maturely and very comfortable on the ball though.
SportsRe: So, Why Didn't Enyeama Dive For That Messi's Freekick? by abatically(m): 11:17pm On Jun 27, 2014
Rossikk: Kindly spare me that ''Argentina are the better team'' RUBBISH. That claim can ONLY be based on a game between the two nations that is CLEAN. If you cannot show the game was CLEAN, you cannot make any claim as to which team is ''better''. Was it not Argentina we beat 4-1 in Abuja? So nothing is certified. And there is NO reason we should expect to lose to them. International match-fixing, involving huge betting syndicates, often aims to entrench those hierarchical stereotypes, those predictable scorelines, at big events like the world cup. One could almost swear that that Nigeria v Argentina game would end in a narrow 2-1 or 3-2 scoreline in favour of the Argentines. That protects all kinds of betting regimes involving countless billions of dollars globally. A Nigeria win simply wasn't ''on the cards''. The game has been polluted by money.
You can say whatever u want... the game is meant to be enjoyed, fixed or not. You beat Argentina 4-1 in Abuja? SO we are better than them? I like u sha.. u a patriotic Nigerian. And I know ur kind.. u are one of those who never believe anything ever happens naturally. If u and ur lyks know anything about football u'ld realise d "space" according to u was supposedly covered by the wall he set up though his positioning was a lil off. By the way the wall refers to those players who stand a couple of yards away from the ball to try to block the kicker from shooting directly at d keeper and post. I guess d Argentine keeper who dove away from Musa's shot was also doing his part in fixing d match... Smh
Abeg no mind the myopic OP. Everything na fixing, as if people don't make mistakes. I wonder what is there to be fixed.. Argentina are the better team, a draw is enough for them to top the group. I'm sure if it was Nigeria that scored a goal against Bosnia that was disallowed people will be here shouting match fixing. Referees, players, goalkeepers are all human. Enyeama chose his side, wall chose their side. Ok Enyeama was a little bit off position but it was a perfectly struck free kick. We have seen worse free kicks beat the best goalkeepers in the world.

He thought messi iz gon change d direction of hiz kick.....
You are the only sensible person around here. Enyeama chose a side while the wall blocked the other side. Enyeama probably thought messi would change the position of the free kick and choose to play it to the goalkeeper's side instead of over the wall as the distance was far (Ronaldo does that a lot). Unfortunately messi chose to play it over the wall... it was a perfectly taken free kick and was always going away from the goalkeeper. No matter how hard Enyeama tries, he wouldn't get to that ball. The Only way he would have saved the ball was for him to make the movement before messi took the kick. But then if he had done that and it happened that messi chose the other direction, then we would blame him for not defending his own side.

This Op talking about match fixing... so u are telling me every goalkeeper Messi or other players have scored free kicks against were also involved in match fixing?

What is a Mikel?

1. A magician: he's right in front of u for 90 minutes,  but u only get to see him him for 30 seconds picking up a yellow card.

2. A mikel is a Nigerian Ferrari with the engine of Kia picanto

3. A mikel is anything that has weight,  occupies space,  breathes but remains stationary.

4. A mikel is a confused strolling object that has no focus.

5. It is an SI unit for measuring deceleration,  e.g the car decelerated by 2 mikel/sec.

6. The botanical name of a snail,  Mikelis Obilis.

7. Anybody who can pass the ball but can't shoot,  cross,  head, or be creative e.g my grandma is a mikel.

8. A mikel is that footballer who is allergic to goals.
