That's not the issue here. Col Sani Bello Ironsi's ADc was also a first lieutenant during the 66 coup and he gave brilliant account of what happened in Enugu during the coup.

Bello joined the army in 1962, you're only proving my point, he was a nobody at the time of the coup!

I told you that I was a very junior officer, so I didn’t know what was happening. Then, by that time we were settling down to enjoy Benin, suddenly, we received a signal from our battalion from Enugu, ordering us to rush back. We abandoned everything in Benin to go back.

After about a month I was called back to Enugu where I stayed for few weeks before I was redeployed. I was then asked to go for interview to become the ADC to the supreme commander.

So clearly Bello was a NOBODY at the time of the coup!

On the allegation that igbos made jest of northerners calling then cowards, his book didn't substantiate it, he said that there was lots of rumors and Conspiracy theories at that time, and it culminated to the counter coup.

How old was IBB in 1966 and what was his rank? 25 year old bloody Lieutenant is expected to have crucial sensitive detail about the coup? Una never serious. All the successful coup plotters in the history of Nigeria were not lowly ranked lieutenants, the one time a lieutenant even attempted such he had zero backing.
