@webdezzi, Where in my post did I say I represent nairahost? Oh, I forgot, you are so smart that you know it all. In fact, Nairahost is actually a competitor, since I offer web hosting services myself. However, I am not like some others who take pleasure in smearing other people's hard earned reputation. I have visited, on several occasions, the personal blog of one of the owners of nairahost and I can tell that they are not even near as bad as some people love to depict them. |
Ignorance, like they say is indeed bliss. It appears that some people make posts on nairaland before they even think. Now they are giving a warped legal perspective to what they know nothing about. To the legal “experts”, my question goes thus: How can you sue for a service you paid Zero Naira for? Nairahost and other major hosts in Nigeria do not charge for .ng domains because the Nigeria Internet Body responsible for it has not fixed any fee for registering such. So, the poster must have paid for a hosting package (that will most likely have been activated) which will warrant a helping hand from Nairahost in aiding him to apply for his .ng domain from the registry. If the Naija Registry shirks in its responsibility, how is that Nairahost’s liability? Even if you do have a genuine problem with Nairahost, spreading flawed myths will not help your cause. |
Again, I ask, "why should I leave facebook for this site?"
Did you end your membership with other forums before you joined nairaland? Your reply should be a fair answer to your question. |
The site loads fine from my end. It's amazes me to see how some people just relish the act of making a caricature of other peoples effort. It was probably just a network glitch. |
Hello Experts, I intend to apply for a UK Tourist Visa (First Time). I want to know, does my hotel reservation have to cover the whole duration of my stay (3 weeks) or can it be less? I ask this because I do not intend to stay in a hotel throughout my whole stay. |
@mambenanje, You had better perform as promised if you don't want a negative thread to be opened for you as well. ![]() |
bug24:You made that insinuation. |
Why should a company of Nairahost's Standing reveal it's financial Details to the public, just to satisfy the curiosity of a disgruntled customer? It is obvious that most people contributing to this thread are either small timers in business or have no clue of business at all. @bug24, Nairahost gives out free stuff on their website from time to time so calling them stingy is an insult and I think you owe them an apology since you know very little about them. Don't you get it? granting smartsoft's wish translates to succumbing to blackmail, which is all this thread has succeeded in doing. I do not know the owners of nairahost. However, I have read a lot of stuff about them that makes me come to a conclusion that they are young men of integrity. |
To be Sincere, I think the reputation of Nairahost is being unjustly maligned by smartsoft. Why in the world will the owners of this company want to create a scene over N2200? Since no one here knows how the algorithms of webpay is formatted, how can you jump to such conclusions about nairahosts? What if webpay works like this: Step 1: Deduct money from Card Step 2: Complete order on Merchant Site Step 3: Credit Merchant Webpay Account With Proceeds of Sale. Now, if you got a "page cannot display" message before completion, it is possible that nairahost has received nothing. @smartsoft This issue can only be resolved by interswitch, since they have an oversight perspective regarding their payment system. |
Here is a website that ranks the Top hosting companies in Nigeria; a handful of reputable hosts make up the list. But you still need to do your homework regarding the choice you make. http://www.webhosting.info/webhosts/tophosts/Country/NG |
Interswitch is appearing to be an epitome of incompetency. Is this what they reward their merchants with, after they have shelled out a ridiculously inflated fee for this facility? Is this not going to cause many consumers to shun this webpay facility? To be fair to the hosting company, I think you should remove their name and URL from your post. This imbroglio is no fault of theirs. |
It appears to be a bug with the Interswith API. You should get in touch with nairahost and iron things out. They are probably the beneficiary of the error. |
Typical yahooze Request! Web Hosts, Beware. |
I am about to purchase a Rapidshare premium account. I was just wondering if it will be worth it, when one considers the limited bandwidth speed our local ISPs provide. Is there any Premium user in the house? Please share your experience. |
If this guy should be taken seriously, he is at best a comedian or at worst a snake-oil salesman that has taken quackery to the next level. Can you please describe the IT solution that you want to sell to people within that age bracket that will be able to offset your 7 digit salary for your part time (mostly inexperienced) “female” workers? Just listen to your contradictory postures: We need a female web designer competent in html php Flash We would only need to meet in advent of an emergency or to supply hardware to the succesful candidateCan you please state the special hardware that a rookie web designer needs? |
Controversial in the webmaster section……………….hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Only a few names come to mind. |
Vbulletin is a more robust forum application. I hope this thread will be a wakeup call for the Moderator to give his forum a makeover. |
@ Yawa, Please take caution!! The owner of this forum does not like the referring of his members to other websites for resources that are readily available on nairaland. This has led to banning in some cases. My2cents is no longer here. Afam (The Programmer) is on self exile. So please, we cant afford to lose you too. Cheers |
PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria — Gunmen kidnapped the younger brother of Nigerian soccer star Joseph Yobo on Saturday, police said. The unidentified men seized Norum Yobo at gunpoint before dawn as he was returning from a party, Rivers State police spokeswoman Rita Inoma-Abbey said. No group claimed has responsibility for the kidnapping and no ransom demand had been made, she said. Joseph Yobo played for Everton soccer club in the British Premier League last season and is a regular fixture on Nigeria\\\'s national team, the Super Eagles. Kidnappings are common in the West African country\\\'s oil-producing Niger river delta region where militants are agitating for more of the petroleum funds to be spent developing the impoverished region. Attacks on oil industry infrastructure in the past two years have slashed Nigeria\\\'s oil output by almost a quarter, helping push worldwide crude prices to historic highs. Kidnappings have mostly ended peacefully after ransom payments, although deaths and injuries have occurred when security forces battle the kidnappers. Nigeria is Africa\\\'s top oil producer and is routinely ranked as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,376744,00.html |
@Toks2008, Fani-Kayode’s diagnosed is a 100% true in my opinion. However, his admission is not out of sincerity, but it is a stylish ploy just to send Nigerians on a wild goose chase and divert attention from his thieving stint as head of that sector. Saying people belong to the occult in Nigeria is no longer news, when one considers the fact that the top Echelon of the Executive, Legislature, Judiciary, Pubic Service, law Enforcement and the Private Sector is occupied mostly by Men and Women deeply entrenched in the occult. May God Help Nigeria! |
I find it rather paradoxical that if our government was asked to react to the story, their response will be so predictable. Our Government’s likely reaction will be: It is unfortunate that Yahoo has decided to follow the low road of Mischief through the publication of fabricated tales and unsubstantiated hearsay to malign the image and soil the Impeccable integrity of the good people of Nigeria. We take such matters very seriously and we will consider all legal options at our disposal to seek redress for such a cowardly and callous publication. Woman Gets Two Years for Aiding Nigerian Internet Check Scam (PC World) A Washington woman was sentenced on Wednesday to two years in prison and five years of supervised release for her role in an Internet counterfeit check scheme. Edna Fiedler pleaded guilty in March to attempting to defraud U.S. citizens in a scheme known as a Nigerian check scam. Fiedler helped her accomplices in Nigeria send fake checks to people who had agreed to cash the checks on behalf of the sender, keeping some of the proceeds and sending the rest back. The Nigerians found people willing to cash the fake checks via e-mail. They would send their names as well as fake documents that looked like Wal-Mart money orders, Bank of America checks, U.S. Postal Service checks and American Express traveler's checks to Fiedler. They told her how to fill out the checks and where to send them. The recipients most likely thought they were helping out someone who needed a person in the U.S. to cash a check for them, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. They were able to get the money by cashing the checks, and sent most of it to either Fiedler or her Nigerian accomplices. However, once the checks were discovered to be fake, the people who cashed them were responsible for the full amount. All told, Fiedler sent out US$609,000 worth of phony checks and money orders. When U.S. Secret Service agents investigating the case searched Fiedler's house, they found additional fake checks worth more than $1.1 million that she was preparing to send out. At a recent conference in Seattle, a representative from the U.S. Postal Service and Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna described ways they're working to shut down these kinds of scams, particularly because they often involve people who don't realize that they're taking part in illegal activities. The U.S. Postal Service recently sent 15 postal investigators to Lagos, Nigeria, and during a three-month period there, they helped intercept counterfeit checks, lottery tickets and eBay overpayment schemes with a face value of $2.1 billion, Chris Siouris, a cyber investigator at the U.S. Postal Inspector, said at the recent conference. Siouris, McKenna and others are pushing for ways to better educate Internet users so that people don't unwittingly help out in these kinds of e-mail scams. http://tech.yahoo.com/news/pcworld/147575 |
They are nice and both load pretty fast. However, dont you think you should reconsider the use of the same layout for both sites? |
Indians are very smart marketers so you have to take whatever they offer you with a pinch of salt, no matter how enticing it appears. When I first heard of their scholarship scheme in 2002, I probed further only to discover that it was nothing but a charade. They simply offer you a “scholarship” to change your program fees from “Over Inflated” to “Inflated”. What a waste of time. |
goldenimp:The Scammers do it by a process called "email spoofing" with the help of programs like phpmailer. So be careful before you malign the image of Interswitch unfairly. |
@ afam How are you able to charge your inverter without the use of a generator? I am just curious to know what methods you apply, considering the fact that public power supply is virtually non-existent in most parts of the Lagos metropolis. |
Most Nigerians do not like taking time off to write a review of goods and services they have purchased, whether good of bad. This I think is a very unfortunate trend, as it does not help customers make better informed choices before they spend. |
Here is my own list: My2cents Prodgalson Kazey Afam Smartsoft |
I think it will be interesting to know exactly what transpired that led to the banning of my2cents. It will be nice if anyone can supply a link to any blog that has the complete story. |
The banishment of My2cents would definitely boggle any rational mind. What did he do wrong? His contributions were simply invaluable to many members of this webmaster section. I think we deserve an explanation from the moderator. |
