Oracleforce:Akeredolu is the governor of Ondo state for the next 4yrs, and is therefore saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that security of the lives of Ondo residents are protected. If in his judgment, a rally planned by a secessionist movement would pose a security risk to his state, he is within his rights as governor to prevent that. We all saw how endsars ended and till today we are still bearing the brunt. Prof. Akitoye should find a more receptive state to organize his rally since Ondo has rejected it. Prof. can never claim to speak for every yoruba because that would be a lie and gross misrepresentation. If yoruba secessionists are serious about their ambition and truly have the support of most yorubas, they should organize, mobilize, and form their own political party, then elect representatives of their own choosing who will drive their agenda at the national and state assemblies, since they feel all current Yoruba politicians are not good enough for them. That's the proper way to go about it to avoid division and possible civil war within the race. Because whether you like it or not, some sections of yoruba society are either not in support of this secessionist agitation, or they are on the fence about it, and these aren't even politicians but Yorubas from all walks of life. Yes. Such people may number in the millions even. So will you keep threatening or kill all of such people? Or would you rather communicate with them to make them see reason with you? Awolowo earned the right and privilege to be called yoruba leader because he contested for elections both locally and nationally, and Yorubas all across overwhelmingly voted for him, even in presidential elections that he lost. That was enough proof of his general acceptability and endorsement by Yorubas as their leader. Prof. Akitoye has never been given such a collective mandate by Yorubas. If Akitoye wants such mandate then he should play by the rules and become a 'good' politician (since you his followers believe the current ones are all bad) like Awolowo and test his popularity and then use his political power to drive his agenda. |
I am with Akeredolu on this. We are operating a representative democracy, therefore the only people that can claim true representation of their people/constituents are their elected officials. That's why there are elections every 4-yrs for people to decide whether they want them to continue representing them or not. These are the only people the constitution (no matter how flawed) bestows with the power to act and speak on behalf of their constituents. Not even traditional rulers can claim such authority/powers. In light of that, Professor Banji Akitoye, who represents a mere pressure group, can only claim to speak for those that elected him into his position, and not for the Yorubas at large. And even Akeredolu himself can only speak for the Ondo State citizens that elected him to lead them till his second term tenure expires. Prof. Akitoye should join a political party of his choice and run for elected political office if he wants the authority speak for his constituents. In light of these facts, all secessionists should start their agitation from their localities, by pressurizing their elected representatives to do their bidding at the state and national assemblies. Or wait to elect new representatives that would share their secessionist views at the next election cycle. |
The worst part about this Leah Sharibu situation for me is that this girl is still being held captive somewhere within this same Nigeria territory, for about 3yrs now, and the authorities still can't secure her freedom. That's a huge indictment on our security apparatus in this country. The security arm has completely collapsed. |
Good development. But the government of the North should prioritize Human Capital Development so that they would stop breeding bandits and religious extremists. |
Insecurity is getting out of hand in Oyo State. Makinde should sit up. |
What's stopping Peter Obi from declaring for the presidency under PDP? He is clearly more competent and qualified than Atiku that he is waiting for to hand him the VP position again. He should show some courage. Even if he ends up not getting the ticket, it would send a strong message. |
Only a mumu would still be opening or running a beer parlour/sales business in a socially backward and rigid sharia state like Kano. |
This man sounds like a visionary. His ideas are very sophisticated and grounded in modern trends. This ought to make frontpage. Maybe Op should include a source. |
How the matter come take concern you, Toni Payne. |
TheTourist:That would be a mistake because even the current t governor is an Ibori boy/puppet. They should just find a way to distribute it to the indigenes of the state without involving the state government, else it will find its way back into the looter's (Ibori) pocket. |
Lies. I bet even ibo people would not like this news, because they know they won't stand a chance if it were true. They have resolved to vote for and deputise any Northerner the PDP puts forward. |
This woman and her husband should just keep quiet and enjoy their lives in peace. |
Malami, it was learnt, is eyeing the 2023 presidency. How true is this? |
Nice edifice. If government House clinic fine like this, the ordinary people own too should match am. |
Enugu is in the hands of God. -Signed: Gburugburu. |
Since this current governor entered office, Enugu has been in the hands of God. |
Yimu. Who send dem? Who send FFK work? If they decide to call off their strike, it would be to save face because their demands have not and will never be met. Rubbish. ![]() |
Not bad at all. |
I see harmattan haze all over the picture. The dryness of harmattan is so obvious. |
lexy2014:Ok. I just stated my opinion. It's obvious we are not on the same page. Ipob can do whatever it likes. |
lexy2014:What I meant is they shouldn't escalate the situation by engaging in guerilla warfare against the army. |
Ipob should not overreact o. It is the civilian population that would suffer of the situation is escalated. |
This better be fake news. What's going on there to warrant such extreme escalation? Orlu is a relatively big town, not just some village. Why would the FG be bombarding there?? |

If Atiku truly said this then he is dumb as hell. Instead of him to proffer practical solutions that can tackle the root cause of the banditry and kidnapping menace while confronting the criminals, he is talking of deployment of soldiers to schools. How many soldiers are in the Nigerian army to cover all schools? Mumu talk. |
Oga rest. If Rotimi Amaechi is truly interested in the Presidency, he needs to start acting like the other interested parties are doing. He should hire a group of people and pay them to start doing media rounds promoting his candidacy. He can hire like 2 or 3 different 'support groups'. One of the groups should also 'threaten' to 'sue' him of he chooses not to run. And there you have it. |
Smh. Watch him begin to sing Buhari's praises. FFK knows no shame at all. I even dey shame for am sef. Smh. |
Smh. Naija people sabi make stupidity trend. Na dem turn bobrisky to celeb. |
If dem try am, Makinde might just leave PDP, which would be a loss to PDP. Sanction a whole Nigerian governor? |
madridguy:As in. It seems the stolen goods that some people looted during the last round has finished, so them wan restock/do round 2. |
Hmmm. Could that be the reason why he threw subtle shots at Atiku Abubakar and Gumi earlier? |
