God bless you mightily. This has always bothered me too. Can men please make me understand their undying need to control another living, breathing, adult human being with brains who has the capacity to reason? Do they think it's that easy to follow someone's every other without thinking of self? Like, I don't get it. What do you gain?
Most of the men who are like that are broke. They don't have money to control so it's a whole human being they want to press like remote. Some rich men are controlling but it's mostly broke, unenlightened and insecure men.

I don't know where you live abroad o but one thing I can tell you is that i have moved around and that what I am saying is true.
I went to Naija recently to visit and I can tell you that some of the people I saw where just straight gorgeous (even some of the girls I saw in church of all places).
I know the girls in Naija package better but don't judge until you see their no makeup morning look. Hair abroad is also expensive so we definitely don't get our hair done every other week like girls in Naija, but that doesn't mean we're just ugly compared to.

You made a valid and sensible contribution in bold above.

However, the most important question is, why will a lady marry such a man in the first place, and also subject herself to such qualities for years? Then, when they start making money and are independent, they want to break out of it.

It then means, they do not love the guy before, they were just using him as a meal ticket and will afford to subject themselves to all manners of ill treatments until they achieve their independence.

Definitely, the men did wrong by killing their wives and deserve to rotten in jail, but the ladies are not blameless, they led these men on, they saw these controlling tendencies in their husbands years before, but choose to be submissive and carry on as if they are in total compliance. If these ladies had shown their independence earlier on, I am 100% sure, these guys would not have bother to marry then and their are men out there looking for such ladies.

Warning to ladies and guys, when you are to marry; if you do not like what the total package that you are seeing; please it is not too late to say No and turn back....do not think, you can manage it, or make adjustment to the package you are presenting in the future or the package that you are seeing.
Nice point of view. I don't think it's fair for a lady to marry a guy solely for the purpose of going abroad. I think these stories are also exaggerated because I know a lot of people that make more money than their husbands and they settle their differences and are still happily married. To me, those men probably wanted a puppet for a wife and when you bring a villager to america and she starts seeing bright lights, starts making a little money, starts hanging around all sorts of people, there's bound to be problem. Same will happen if a woman brings a village husband abroad, it's human nature.

My own issue is, knowing all of this, why do these men still go to their village to import women? What kind of man do you have to be that you can't marry someone unless you are the one saving them from village life and upgrading them? Why won't those men seek a healthy relationship with someone just like them? Why must you be looking for a naive villager to control? They deserve what they get.

I don't know why a sane adult will think it's his duty to control another living, breathing and functioning adult because he is the husband. I was very hard on a nlder that was claiming he's going to Nigeria to get a wife to bring back with him to the UK for this very reason. These men live in cities with a lot of eligible Nigerian single women but choose to go to Nigeria to import village girls so they can isolate them from their family and friends and control them. Unfortunately for them, the girls eyes will open and then they will resort to killing them as a means of final control. They would rather have a dead wife than a wife that comes and goes as she pleases. As for you girls in Nigeria waiting for their savior with dollars and pounds to come and rescue them, a word is enough for the wise. It's best you go and look for work and a young man in Nigeria to hustle with and build something.

Flood is not peculiar to Ogun state alone. Go to ketu, mile 12,owode and other parts of Lagos with even more flooded areas than this. And for you to say Ogun state is having bad publicity is very bad. You should be aware that that about four years ago relief materials was sent to people in the east and north affected by flood. None has been sent to Ogun state. How then do you think we are the worst of all?

Marriage is not by age. I believe you can talk to your parents maturely and try to get them to see reason. Tell them you will be moving out of the country and this is the best time to sort out your future wife's papers. These things are much easier when you marry before you start the processing. I'm sure they'll have a rethink when you purse it peacefully and persistently.
