PROVERBZ: I won't like that stuff kraks me up. Unto serious things who is this strive masiyawa guy. I just found out about him. Guy is investing 100million USD in Nigeria for underground sea cables and this building at eko Atlantic.
Pretty sure that project isn't in Eko Atlantic but VI but i've never heard of him before is he from Southern Africa or Eastern Africa?
jl115: Nope........Covid is just as bad in Nigeria as anywhere else, except you have only conducted a couple million tests hence covid deaths will be in relation to tests conducted
If deaths were higher then normal it would be recorded mortuaries would be overrun and so would hospitals the only clear occurence of a possible major COVID outbreak was in Kano and Kaduna state where 267 people died from an unknown illness apart from there, there's been no news of many people in any community dying or mortuaries being overrun which are clear signs of a disease
jl115: Who says there isn't a risk?? if you look at the amount of tests to deaths ratio Nigeria would be right up there with SA if it managed to conduct the same amount of tests.....same with the rest of Africa
Nope. If COVID was a problem we'd see death toll rising higher then normal that is the indicator that there is a pandemic or epidemic in the nation that hasn't taken place yet so Nigeria has no COVID problem
jl115: I never said SAs covid policy was top notch but it's by far better than the rest of Africa............Just look at the number of tests conducted as well as number vaccinated and compare that to the rest of Africa
Number of tests isn't a measure and South Africa has capacity to manufacture vaccines apart from that their COVID policies have been horrible compared to the rest of Africa
jl115: they are .....just not recorded as covid deaths because no tests are being conducted:
FYI
Total tests done by SA to date: 17.3 Million Algeria: 230 000 Egypt: 3.6 million Nigeria: 2.9 million Kenya: 2.5million
It's only in South Africa where a new variant was discovered don't lie about it South Africa's COVID policy and enforcement wasn't top notch especially in the towsnhips even with the whole curfew system
rvp2018: UK allows Kenya and Egypt to travel to UK and remove it from red list. Kenya is now UK most important partner in Sub Saharan Africa. Nigeria is huge mess. South Africa continue it's onward match backward.
Hueman: Only someone that has their foot up their ass would be defending Europeans especially colonial descendants. Do you forget what they did to us. And even what they continue to do to us.
Why're you acting as if every single European is evil or a descendant of someone who was directly involved in colonialism and slavery? You really need to change you Africans who hate all white people simply because of their race seriously need to change
I'm currently 5'11 I had a massive growth spurt from 5'7 and all I can say is being taller is way better in this current social era if you're short no girl will look your way so personally i'm trying to be 6'1 but if I don't reach there i'll just have to hope that the people around me are short so I can look taller.
68816419: The parent company in south Africa left , but the franchised rights is still remains and now fully owned by a local company known as Ketron Investment Limited
No it's Persianas group who also own Lekki palms mall the CEO is Tayo Amusan
obaaderemi: What made Germany different if not the structure of its development?
And what made the northern part of America richer and stronger if not the structure of its development?
Even before slavery and colonialism, the British already laid the foundation for their greatness with scientific and technological progress. They could make things others wanted. And when they took over European trade routes in the 16th century, they became destined for serious greatness. So they would still have done well without slavery and colonialism. That's a fact.
Slavery and colonialism definitely contributed immensely to their progress economically but it is silly to think Britain wouldn't have prospered without those. If they weren't great they wouldn't have built an empire upon which the sun couldn't set until after the 2nd world war. Face facts, man.
They may have propspered but not at the same speed or at the same level and the British empire was literally built on the backs of slavery and colonialism so that point doesn't make sense
gallivant: Worry about the poverty in Nigerian cities first.
He just called out your lies and instead of addressing them you deflect away from the issue it's okay we know that Nairobi isn't as good as you guys claim
gidgiddy: We are going to campaign forbtotal boycott of all future elections
Elections has not helped and will never help anybody
Maybe elections haven't helped because you're not voting in the right people? Try voting other people like Moghalu or Fasua and see how the nation will change
OnyeObodo: Honestly, over my dead body will I ever vote another Northerner in this country again.
Thats if the country remains one beyond 2023.
IF PDP EVER DARES PRESENT ANOTHER MALLAM or NORTHERNER, I will gladly vote an APC Candidate even if its Tububu. Take this from me as a bet. Yes, my one vote will count.
2023 is either Peter Obi on the ballot box for PDP or Osibanjo on the ballot box for APC. I don't care who wins because they are so good.
Anything Atiku, Saraki, Bala Mohammed, El Rufai, Tambuwal can go hell and burn to blazes.
Another FULANI MAN or Northerner ruling this country will spell doom for the already useless nation. We never had it this bad please.
So you haven't even considered voting for a party apart from APC and PDP? Don't you see that's the problem
Hueman: It’s white owned institutions like IMF world bank, WTO, Paris club who make sure African countries are poor. It’s more than having corrupt government. You ice monkeys are more corrupt than we will ever be but your country isn’t falling apart. So face the truth.
obaaderemi: So tell us how Germany made it without relying on slavery and colonialism. Go and see the difference between the northern part of USA and the southern part that relied on slavery and see how the south lost against the more technological superior north.
England and France would still have made it big without slavery or colonialism. Especially England after signing the Intercursus Magnus in the 15th century. Those countries had structures for growth unlike Spain and Portugal.
As a say Germany is a different situation and the problem with the problem with southern America is how conservative they were and against different forms of technology so they didn't industrialize where do you think the northern part got the money to industrialize?
England and France would not have been as rich or developed as quick as they have without slavery it's not a debate they made trillions of dollars from slavery they couldn't have possibly developed that fast without that money are you really saying that they could have developed in the same manner without trillions of dollars? How does that even make sense
obaaderemi: Dubai is not a nation though. It's just a city. And it's economy was built on the back of manufacturing like I said earlier. I later on mixed it up with UAE.
In the mid 1960s, Dubai built its first free trade zone to attract foreign companies to manufacture goods that could be sold outside Dubai. That free trade zone was/is the largest in the world.
But these days it's more about tourism and service industry. I wonder why it's hard for African countries to follow the same path or something similar.
Dubai grew through oil manufacturing and technology came as a byproduct of oil
obaaderemi: I never mentioned England and France. Even those ones would still have made it big without slavery or colonialism. They would still have made it by trading in the products they produced and getting the raw materials they needed. Just like China is doing today.
Bro are you okay made it big without slavery and colonialism? You're a coon for these opinions
obaaderemi: Yes, we know all about that. Korea and some other parts of South East Asia fell under Japan's sphere of influence from the 1870s up-- not throughout the 1800s like you said--- but that shows Japan was the most advanced country in Asia as at then! It shows Japan's development had structure which could still have made it great no matter what. In fact Korea benefited more from Japan than Japan benefited from Korea. The foundation for Korea's greatness we see today was laid by Japan.
Even after Japan lost everything, it still bounced back, just like Germany. This shows that these countries had good ancient structures. This is what Africans should learn from instead of saying Europe and Asia got wealthy because of colonialism. That's a fat lie.
It's not a fat lie though England gained trillions of dollars in wealth from slavery and so did France it's only Germany that had legitgimate growth for the most part in Western Europe the rest of them benefitted greatly from slavery and that includes Belgium and Netherlands
FreeStuffsNG: Cc Myndd44 Lalasticala So much for your knowledge. Thank you sir. We will not allow you kill our nairaland with toxic comments like you did with Twitter. Any boy who goes online to insult others just reflects the kind of upbringing you have as bad. You can't grow and assimilate technical discourse when you spend all day hauling insults online while hiding behind a keyboard.
You didn't prove or disprove any of my points and I have every right to insult someone if they try and belittle or give reason for the horrible state of Nigeria
FreeStuffsNG: You want subsidy on Gas too, shebi? Same you city dwellers enjoying subsidy on petrol and electricity while those folks living in the villages continue to pick the bills as funds meant for their roads and cottage clinics and industries is being used to fund subsidy lifestyles for us in the cities and towns. Sir, if you are truly in the gas business, you should know what gas is doing now even globally since the hurricane ida occurred in the US and locked 90% of the supply from that axis affected by ida.
You guys should please learn more about your industry, it's not the job of Buhari to ask you to READ or to subsidise gas for you at a time even industries in Europe are reducing production because of high gas and oil prices.
Take a break from nairaland and get real perspective of factors affecting your industry and understand it very well enough to be regarded an expert there . It's no brainer that except things change, gas and crude oil price may even increase more and Oman is already predicting that it will reach $200 per barrel because of bad weather and return of most industrial productions after covid-19. Brent was on $75.10 the last time I checked this morning. It has nothing to do with PMB, your usual scapegoat for everything.
Did you just say that 90% of cooking gas comes from America? Bro you're a fool you don't know what you're talking about whatsoever and conerning oil prices they have nothing to do with the price of cooking gas Nigeria doesn't buy raw oil we export it so for it to reach 200 dollars is good news and would make the economy improve the higher the price the faster our economy grows so what exactly is your point and don't bring up natural gas prices either we export that as well and it has nothinh to do with cooking gas the only reason why products have been inflating in price is because of poor economic reforms and bad leadership nothing else.
Hueman: I wonder why all the white people are still living comfortably while the black population is still poor. Something tells me that apartheid never really ended
