Politics › Re: Jonathan Commissions Modern Police Estate In Lagos by abu12:
The first phase of Goodluck Estate comprising  228 3-bedroom units has been completed and ready for commissioning.

The housing estate which is exclusively residential, is nestled in a very secure and highly accessible part of Idimu in Alimosho area of Lagos metropolis.

The estate which was initiated in 2008 but actual construction work commenced in 2011, has unparalleled access to key city locations such as Ikeja, Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos State University, LASU, Ejigbo, Isolo and Iba.

Goodluck Housing Estate, Idimu before completion.

The sprawling estate sited on 11.5 hectares of land, is a partnership deal between the Nigeria Police Force who are the owners of the land and Remax Realtors Nig. Limited, the developer. The estate which is expected to provide 504 housing units of three-bedroom each at the completion of the second phase by 2014, will cost a whopping N4 billion.

In a chat with Vanguard Homes&Property, the chief executive officer of Remax Realtors Nig. Limited, the developers and promoters of the estate, Mrs. Funke Adesoji said the estate which has a leasehold of 99 years, is a Public Private Partnership, PPP project, pointing out that 60 per cent of the 504 housing units the estate is expected to provide would be sold to men and officers in the police force because the police are the owners of the land, and that was the agreement reached between her company and police.

Remax Realtors’ boss who noted that she funded the project through borrowed funds from both local  and international financial institutions, disclosed that the remaining 40 per cent would be sold to members of the public.

Mrs. Adesoji who said payment for the apartments can be either by cash which is direct payment or through mortgage arrangement, explained that subscribers who intend to pay through mortgage arrangement must be subscribers to the National Housing Fund, NHF or such subscribers can arrange for mortgage loans through their bankers, as her company has no mortgage arrangement with any of the primary mortgage institutions for the purchase of the apartments.

She disclosed that the key features in the estate are that each flat has a large living and dining room with big windows for aeration, guest toilet, master bedroom en-suite two additional bedrooms with family bathroom and toilet, as well as spacious kitchen with a store.

The infrastructure and facilities in the estate include beautifully landscaped and tarred roads, fully fenced and gated estate, two parking lots per flat, electricity with adequately clustered transformers, solar-powered street lights and boreholes with water treatment plants. Others are standard drainage system, recreational facilities, shopping mall, adequate security, professional facility management services and provision for sports as well as community centre.

This minister should be more concern about ASUU STRIKE for now instead of him to channel all his energy on this rivers state crises. IMO this is negligence of his duty, the retardeen has to call him to order. It is a shame to see a federal minister encouraging rascality and supporting 5 lawmaker who want to impeach 27 lawmaker, what message is he passing across. To the extend they take their dirty to a UK hospital SMH.

This democracy is getting worse.
Politics › Wike & Others Visit Micheal Chinda In London Hospital by abu12(op): 11:26pm On Jul 20, 2013
Former Chief of Staff to governor Rotimi Amaechi and current Nigerian deputy minister of education has led a delegation of factional members of the People's Democratic Party in Rivers State to visit injured Rivers lawmaker Michael Chinda in a London hospital.

Mr. Wike is the arrowhead of the plot by President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience to destabilize Rivers State and remove the state governor.

Mr. Chinda was severely injured after a pro-Amaechi lawmaker and majority leader of Rivers State of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd severally smashed a wooden mace on his head and jaws on July 9th 2013 as a group of five lawmakers tried unsuccessfully to impeach the speaker ofthe house.

See full text of the press release issued from London regarding the visit led by Mr. Wike below:

[b]Prominent leaders of Rivers State from across political and professional divides on Saturday visited the member representing Obio/Akpor State Constituency 2 at the Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London, United Kingdom, where the legislator is recuperating from head and jaw surgeries carried out on him by medical expertsin the health facility.

Those visited the injured lawmaker include; Minister of State for Education, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, President of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Chief Okey Wali (SAN), Former Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, National Treasurer, Mr Kenneth Kobani, Former Transport Minister, Dr Abiye Sekibo, Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah and a former Commissioner in Rivers State, Mr. Bonny Iyaye.

The leaders were grateful to God for the survival of Hon. Michael Chinda despite the vicious knocks he received from the mace-wielding Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd. They condemned the brutal physical assault sufferedby Hon. Chinda, saying that such violence mustnot be witnessed again in the state.

It will be recalled that Hon. Micheal Chinda received life-threatening injuries on his head and jaw after the Rivers State Majority Leader, Hon. Chidi Lloyd freely attacked him with the House Mace with the assistance of security details of Governor Chibuike Amaechi of RiversState.

Speaking after the visit to the injured lawmaker and his family, Minister of State for Education, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike called on the constituents of the lawmaker to remain calm; pointing that justice will be done in the matter.

He said: “It is very unfortunate that such injury could be inflicted on a fellow human being. I remember that the man who carried out this barbaric act claimed that some people don’t have integrity. We can now see the kind of integrity he has.

We are happy that the Honourable Member is alive. I want to call on his constituents and I am one of them, to remain calm. I know how Hon. Chinda is dear tothem, but at the end of the day, justice will be done.”

Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, a former deputy speakerof the House of Representatives expressed happiness that the lawmaker has been stabilized health wise, but said that it was unfortunate that the Rivers State Governor is yet to see anything wrong with the injuries inflicted on the lawmaker.

Former Minister of Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo while condemning the brutal injury inflicted on Hon. Chinda, said all well meaning Nigerians must rise to condemn such pre-meditated act of violence in the interest of the nation’s political growth.

He said: “All of us must condemn what happened. It doesn’t matter on which side of the political divide that we find ourselves. Governors who see this kind of barbarism and fail to condemn it, but choose to turn it to political drama will not be forgiven by history”.

Rivers State PDP Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah regretted that despite the devastating attack on a State lawmaker by the State House Majority Leader, Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi is yet to ask after the welfare of the lawmaker, choosing instead to host series of solidarity visits from governors at the expense of the depleting resources of Rivers State.

Former ACN National Treasurer, Mr Kenneth Kobani said that whoever supports the acts of pre-meditated violence perpetrated against theRivers State lawmaker needs his conscience examined.

“Our common duty is to ensure that we do not support this kind of evil. It is shocking that even as we speak, those who carried out this evil act are still going about justifying the evil. That tells you the deplorable state that our state has fallen to” Kobani lamented.

Politics › Re: Jonathan, Northern Governors In Closed-door Meeting At Obasanjo’s Residence by abu12: 11:13pm On Jul 20, 2013
EUROBOMBER: There's no big deal about this. We all know that obasanjo was instrumental in the emergence of Jonathan as president and courtesy demands that Jonathan respets Obasanjo. You don't fight with people that helped you to the top but deal with grasshoppers like amaechi who seems to have forgotten that kaaki and leather are different. I like the way Jonathan is playing his politics. Haters of Jonathan & his wife should start buying several bundles of hankerchiefs because they have a lot of crying to do in 2015. Hate him or love him, Jonathan will be president till 2019 unless Nigeria ceases to exist.

@Rhin05.dm,

Pls save us the horrible odor that emanates from your mouth by closing the toilet.
You can call amaechi your brother a grasshopper, I don't give a damn but you can't call people like sule lamido, babagidan Aliyu and wamako like that because they obj men right from day one.

kaorama: This should be no too much arguement about the visit. There is no way GEJ will be in Ogun state on a condolence visit to Abati family without seeing OBJ. That is courtesy and respect. We must learn to appreciate those who have gone ahead of us in the same field of life. And that is what Amechi will soon learn in a hard way.

Politics › Governors Shun Economic Council For Amaechi by abu12(op): 5:34am On Jul 19, 2013
Some governors yesterday shunned the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting to visit embattled Rivers State Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state boiled over last week in the House of Assembly when five members attempted to impeach Speaker Otelemaba DanAmachree, who enjoys the support of 26 members.
Factions in the crisis have engaged in street brawls. Amaechi has accused Police Commissioner Mbu Joseph Mbu of taking sides with those opposed to him —an accusation which the police chief denied.
Following Monday’s visit of four PDP governors – Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Musa Kwankwaso (Kano) and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa)- five Action Congress of Nigeria (AC N) governors yesterday visited Amaechi.
Governors Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun)were accompanied by deputy governors Eze Madumere (Imo), Mukhtar Anka(Zamfara) and Damashi Baruwa (Nasarawa), who represented their governors.
Fayemi said they ought to be in Abuja for the NEC meeting but due to their deep concern for the security of the citizens of Rivers State, theydecided to go to Port Harcourt to “meet with our brother and Chairman of our Governors’ Forum, Governor Amaechi”.
Fayemi said they advised Amaechi to “brief President Goodluck Jonathan, who is actually our leader and Chief Security Officer of the country on the very, very challenging security situation here in Rivers State”.
“We believe that our chairman and brother will give serious consideration to that particular concern that we have also expressed too to him, that it is important as the chief security officer of Rivers State to take the opportunity to go and brief Mr President on the security situation in the state.”
He added: “We thought it will be important for the hierarchy of our Police authority, the Inspector General of Police, to help in restoring the confidence of the people of Rivers State that has really been greatly diminished in the Police service and the command here in Rivers State.
“We believe that the Inspector General of Police is very well placed to help take the necessary step to restore the confidence of the government, the governor and the people in the police in Rivers State.
“And every step that is critical to making that possible we believe that the Inspector General of Police should take. For us, we believe that these remarks really require the moral authority of Mr President as well.”
Fayemi also said: “It is about deepening this democracy. It is about ensuring that peace reigns not just in Rivers because we know that Rivers is of concern to Governor Amaechi. But the state of security in the entire country is also of concern to him. We believe that Mr President, being our leader – we are all President’s men – we are all President’s Governors.
“He is our leader and we feel that he actually occupies a very critical position that necessitates his wielding his moral authority inensuring that peace reigns here and that nobody uses a subterfuge to create situations that are entirely avoidable.
“The tension in Rivers State is entirely avoidable and we want all parties to sheathe their swords and to help restore the peace and security of our state here.”
Zamfara State Deputy Governor Mukhtar Anka advised Amaechi to discuss with the President so that we can find a way out of this crisis, which is avoidable and we believe that by meeting with the President, we will find a way out of this crisis in Rivers State, to sustain democracy in Nigeria”.
At the NEC meeting were governors of Kano, Niger, Kwara, Benue, Adamawa, Yobe, Gombe, Taraba (Acting), Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Delta and Cross River.
The deputy governors who attended were thosefrom Sokoto, Kaduna, Kebbi, Katsina, Kogi, Borno, Edo, Rivers and Bayelsa.
To prevent a repeat of Tuesday’s attack on the convoy of the visiting Northern governors at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa, over 10,000 youths supporting Governor Rotimi Amaechi took over the airport yesterday during the visit of eight progressive governors.
The supporters of the Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, under the aegisof the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI),who protested against the visit of four governors on Tuesday, were not there yesterday.
The aircraft that conveyed the eight progressive governors landed at the Air Force Base on the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway, instead of the Port Harcourt International Airport.
The youths, made up mostly of the members ofthe Ikwerre Youth Movement (IYM), who got to the Port Harcourt International Airport at 7 am, asked Wike to address the ongoing strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha, and other top government officials, were also at the Port Harcourt International Airport to identify with the youths, who were singing and dancing, untilthey left the airport for the Air Force base at 12:30 pm.
The youths, armed with placards bearing various inscriptions, declared that they would always be at the airport, anytime Amaechi would be travelling or receiving visitors to prevent any incident.
Some of the placards read: “Nyesom Wike, stop fighting Governor Amaechi”; “No GovernorAmaechi, no peace in Rivers State”; “Wike is fighting Governor Amaechi to get favour from President Jonathan”; “Governor Amaechi must be free from intimidation” and “Wike, address ASUU strike.”

“After that incident, he called the chairman of Okrika (local government) and sacked him for holding a reception in our honour; that boy was the first victim.

“He also put my people on curfew for nine months. I called him and pleaded with him but he refused. Then I began to hear all sort of propaganda in the media against me; this is not the way.

ThankGod Edeh: Think of what you can do for your Nigeria and Not what Nigeria can do or have done for you. The ugly truth is that youths depends on the gov't for everything and THERE IS NO WAY THE GOVT CAN EMPLOY EVERYBODY. My fellow good citizens, we can be self employed, we can be entrepreneurs, we can have a thousand people on our pay roll. Let us try to be useful to ourselves by acquiring skills(HANDWORK) that will put food on our table. Your future is in your hands. You better start that skill acquisition now that you have time. Even those in school, you can always use your holiday period to learn something that the world can hear of you. Below are some example of Nigerians who didnt wait or rely on gov't. Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga, and so on.
Please leave that stupid qoute of your above. Even Aliko and mike still get their money from govt, they borrow from banks and refused to pay, they jump tax.
