PoliticsRe: Your Views On GEJ's 7am National Address by Abujafood: 11:50am On Oct 09, 2012
romi: To think i had to set a reminder since yesterday to wake up early and listen to GEJ's national address as i thought he wanted to assert his authority about the numerous Security concerns affecting the Nation only for him to waste 10minutes of my precious time announcing how DANGOTE(chairman), ADENUGA (vice), GOVERNORS, E.T.C and Him... Are going to share BILLIONS OF NAIRA all in the name of setting up FLOOD COMMITTEE, Haba Why!!!! SMH
At least others especially the over 1 million people displaced by flood would be glad they listened to him.
PoliticsRe: President Jonathan's Speech On Recent Floods Experienced by Abujafood: 11:47am On Oct 09, 2012
makon384: While I am happy that the federal government seems to be showing commitment to ameliorating the impact of the recent floods on affected communities through its intervention efforts. However, I am piqued that the President's address seems to suggest it is all about disbursing funds, as about 50% of the address shows. This is a dangerous signal that will portray the government as being reckless and providing an oppurtunity for corrupt minded officials to further enrich thier pockets. I am surprised NEMA has spent such a huge sum in its intervention efforts...
So in other words no funds should be disbursed?
PoliticsRe: President Jonathan's Speech On Recent Floods Experienced by Abujafood: 11:45am On Oct 09, 2012
Mr President don't mind those who think the flood issue does not deserve the seriousness you're giving it!

Can they say that to over 1 million displaced and homeless people?

What about the threat of epidemics?

Nimet predicting even more floods?

Sure the president should not offer the affected persons hope that their plight is being looked into by the federal govt. #People and their baseless criticism!

EducationThe Nigerian University Vs The Average International University by Abujafood(op): 11:26am On Oct 09, 2012
Many of us keep screaming our heads off on why no Nigerian University is in the top 1000 or whatever list of global universities.

I was just wondering if we really have any basis for complaining afterall

Naija University

Exam Malpractice
Lecturers give conditions to award marks
Poor funding

Foreign

Students take their studies seriously
You pass by merit
Well funded

What others can you think of Nigerian Universities vs International Universities debate!
CelebritiesCharly Boy Now To Be Known As Linda! by Abujafood(op): 10:48am On Oct 09, 2012
Charly boy shares a side of himself you may not have known! He's now to be called Linda! He proves himself to be a man that is largely misunderstood! Enjoy this piece!

Undeniably a living legend in Nigeria’s entertainment scene, Charles Oputa popular called Charly boy or known by other names; His Royal Punkness, Area Father and more recently Linda, is an interesting personality to interact with. Despite his eccentric veneer, Charly Boy is a unique personality, a very philosophical person that thinks outside the box. He is open to anyone and ever willing to mentor motivated youth who have a talent. As he puts it “my doors are open to anyone who wants to discover and express him self artistically".

Most Nigerians know Charly boy for his popular TV show “The Charly boy show” which in the 1990s was at one time the 4th most watched TV program in Nigeria, but more especially Charly Boy is known as the weird, enigmatic cousin of Dr. Alban who has an unusual dress sense and loves Power bikes.

Currently appearing as “Linda” on Nigerian Idol as a judge, Charly boy despite his talent isn’t a professional musician as he puts it “Music is just a hobby not a profession for me, I’m a communicator” He’s into Public Relations were he consults for State and Federal Government or anyone who can afford his services.

As my encounter with Charly boy was about to begin, I was overcome by nervousness unable to handle the situation I found myself as I tried to come to terms with a face to face encounter with a man I so much respect not for his status, but his very forthright independence and willingness to express his true artistic persona regardless of how the world objects to it.

I wondered why he no longer resided in Lagos but chose Abuja “I didn’t relocate, Nigeria is my home, I’m more in Abuja than Lagos but Nigeria is my home, where I reside in Nigeria depends on my mood, Abuja is my resting place”. Charly boy’s perspective about Abuja confirms a widely held believe that the capital city is losing the beautiful sights it was known for. “If you were in Abuja 3 or 4 years ago you would describe it as a peaceful place for resting but now it’s becoming rowdy”. A man like Charly boy obviously loves to socialize and have hangouts but not so as he says his only in Abuja to rest, not to do business or socialize.

His Royal Punkness on his view about honours especially National honours and Chieftaincy titles says “I have only one title, Area Father of the whole of Africa and as far as I’m concerned that supersedes any national honour or Chieftaincy title” as he asks “who are the chiefs? Most of the Chiefs are ‘the’ thieves besides how will that sound with the brand Charly Boy – Chief Charly boy?” He doesn’t accept awards because he believes he must have done something remarkable to deserve an award “what we have in Nigeria today is people giving awards because they expect to receive something from you in return and so 9 out of 10 times I’ll turn down an award or honour if I’m offered.”

Charly boy sets a precedence for many Nigerian role models, why accept accolades if you’re going to pay for them? It’s really up to us to honour ourselves with great deeds as I’m tempted to ask if folks like Dr. Nelson Mandela appreciate awards by rewarding those who bestow it on them? Food for thought indeed!

BusinessMobile Money Transfer - How Will It Help Nigerian Businesses! by Abujafood(op): 11:20am On Oct 04, 2012
Hi all,

With the launch of Mobile Money Transfer in Nigeria recently, the question of how this will affect e-commerce and the culture of carrying cash has come up.

Consider these;

Over 80 million Nigerians are active mobile phone users
Nigerians send money across to relatives and loved ones from one part of the country to another
There are people who wish to do business with you but can't send payment across to you because of lack of electronic payment system!

What's your take? A good thing or not?
Christianity EtcRe: Is It Wisdom For Christians To Lie In Some Situations? by Abujafood: 10:13am On Oct 04, 2012
For those that say all lie is sin answer this:

An assassin wants to kill your father and you know his mission, he then asks you where your father is Knowing you to be a "truthful" person he'll believe anything you tell him.

My guess is since all lies are sins then it won't be a sin to tell the "truth" in this case so that your father can be killed or would it?

I guess since she's not a private citizen she has no right to privacy or more accurately it is part of your job to pry into her own health status even if she wants to keep it private!
