I once came across a quote on Facebook that read, "we don’t really lose friends we just simply know those who aren’t". I agree with this statement. It is really a shame when we are faced with the truth about what friendship means to some people – a way of getting what you want from others disguised by the word "Friendship". The values that make us who we are take the back seat in the eyes of the bad friend. Sadly, bad friends are really hard to spot, because many of them have perfected the art of being false. Due to this, we trust these so called friends, go out of our way to do them huge favors and even take on their own personal battles as if they were ours. There is no scientific method for identifying fake friends but consider these questions below and you may expose a few bad friends before they have a chance to hurt you. How will they treat you without any favors? Perhaps the surest sign that you have a fake friend is when they seem to remember you whenever they need something although some of them are quite subtle in the way they go about it. The truth is we can do favors for people that matter to us but not to the point that someone tries to take advantage of our goodwill to have thier way under the guise of being friendly. Try turning down their request for favors and see what happens. Will they make a u-turn in their attitude or will they remain the ever so loyal friend with or without favors? Fake friends are usually bought, real friends are free and will be around you through thick or thin. What are their personal values? Bad friends are usually low on values. They are typically very dishonest, lazy, over-ambitious, pretentious, insincere, disloyal and selfish usually preferring their own convenience to the good or well being of others. If you see these signs in your friends watch your back. It’s only a matter of time before you become their victim. Do they really miss you? Assuming you parted ways with a friend because you moved out of town and you are no longer able to be of any benefit to him, when next you meet how much of your absence has he or she felt? Your absence won’t mean much to a bad friend especially if he or she has moved on with someone offering something valuable to them. Source |
Hmm read all comments so far and some are really funny But Seriously some Abuja Highbrow districts like Maitama, Asokoro and Wuse 2 are very expensive for accommodation compared to Lasgidi, I've lived in Lag for many years when it comes to Lagos experience, I'm a consultant in that area. But seriously most of you wont believe there are houses in Abuja where annual rent is N30 million not to talk of silly amounts people pay for 'affordable' services. Sure transportation is reasonable since taxis in Abuja are more than buses and the roads are good so for the guy who said he paid N250 for taxi in Abuja, I can understand that! On the outskirts of town in the satellite towns things are a bit cheap but I'm talking of Abuja main town! |
It would have been a nice thing to have male entrepreneurs participating this year as well! Good luck to FG anyway! |
For me, I got mine by knowing exactly what i wanted in a job which was fulfillment. I had previously done some part-time job with a leads generation company in Lagos just before going on NYSC. After NYSC, I made a big decision to relocate to Abuja. At Abuja after 6 months I had completely spent all the money I had on me. I was beginning to think I made a mistake when I received a call from my present employer inviting me for a job interview. It looked like a joke to me because I couldn't even remember when I applied for the job (I saw the advert on nairalist). 2 months later, I was called to come and resume and the job has been very rewarding so far. For job seekers still wondering, maybe this article could come in Handy How to search for a Job in Nigeria |
Op, Getting jobs these days is becoming harder apart from the fact that jobs are scarce, most job seekers don't know how to search for jobs in Nigeria. Many of them fail to realise that looking for a job is similar to marketing a product. The more attractive a product is, the easier it becomes to sell same too with job search. Learn about job search tips by going online to do your research but also by learning from others who have jobs how they got theirs! |

This grammatical exigencies can be numb invariably to sub-par onlookers. I fantasize the exemplary truism in colloquially challenging fellow mortals to a contest of uninhibited speech par excellence via intellectual sparring. True "metus in power" to the OP! @ All other jokers on this thread! Kindly refrain from hateful criticism since you are of the uninspired linguistic mob squad. |
What's your opinion. I think Abuja with some of it's highbrow districts is the most expensive place to live in Nigeria do you agree? |
Sun of god: Maybe the op is simply searching for a 'correlation' or 'causal relationship' between the price of garri and the topic in question.LMAO! Very funny comment |
Op, You take style they plagiarize shey? (Just joking) Similar to this thread but for folks in Abuja only https://www.nairaland.com/1033454/mama-put-joints-abuja |
Is Garri the only thing with a price in the market? I would like to share a story with you, a story of what a common purpose, a desire and will to bring about positive change can achieve. Three weeks ago a group of friends embarked on what at the time seemed to be a Herculean task, they embarked on a project to 'Feed A Village', a village known as 'Alheri Special Village', situated in Yangoji area of Kwali district in Abuja. This village is ‘special’ in that, about 50% of its inhabitants are living with the debilitating after effects of a condition commonly known as 'Leprosy', and for that reason they are isolated and rejected by society. In actual fact, the people of Alheri are 100% cured from the disease but have to live, handicapped by the deteriorating scars of the disease and the associated stigma, which make life very difficult. These friends decided to start a charity drive, appealing to family, friends, colleagues and even strangers to donate whatever they could to aid this small community of 584 people and 87 homes. And the responses they received were overwhelming! The generosity of People from all over Nigeria (Kaduna, Kano, Abuja, Lagos) and even as far as the UK, moved by compassion & spurred on by a desire to help, resulted in donations ranging from loads of food items, clothing, toiletries and funds to the tune of over 1 Million Naira being raised so far. The funds raised in the first week, the sum of N350,000 was used to purchase food packages, items and other basic necessities to feed this village by stocking all 87 homes in time for Sallah Holidays, for a short period of time. The task of Feeding a Village, however is much more than providing food and basic necessities for a short time period. It points to an element of sustainability and development that goes beyond perishable food items. It is about nourishing a community to be empowered and independent as they forge a path towards a better future for generations to come through sustainable income, education, health amongst other things. “To Feed” is an adjective that defines an action, so when this group of friends embarked on a journey to “Feed a Village” this action connoted something much more than just satiating hunger, but the long-term welfare of a people. Alheri Village is a dynamic community despite their ‘special’ status. They engage in sustenance agriculture to provide food for themselves and an income from crops sold. However stigma and fear of contagion from the wider public proves to be a great challenge for them as it has hindered their market activities. Simple tasks like travelling on public transport is not an option as they are met with hostility by bus conductors and taxi divers. http://www.abujafood.com/people/be-inspired/858-feed-a-village-the-strength-of-human-kindness.html |

My own experience has taught me being good only pays off when it's backed with wisdom. Like the good book says be as gentle as doves but wise as serpents. People can't take advantage of a good man who is also wise tell me how they hope to succeed? Let's see a few examples of good paying off. 1. Nelson Mandela fought for freedom and equality did it pay off? 2. Ghandi fought for the same cause 3. Mother Teresa and Princess Diana are legends till date. Did their good works pay off? I think we should learn something important, as a good person extend goodness to those who deserve it more like saying don't cast your pearls before swines because they will ridicule and despice you for it. To know whether good pays off or not, know who you're dealing with first before choosing to apply your good works or else you may extend it to swines and suffer for doing so. |
True, that might explain why there is an increase in one chance robberies in Abuja |
illitrate:Yes naw, where e for be before? |
"One Chance" is a style of robbing unsuspecting victims on commuter buses that became a very disturbing trend in Lagos. The name “One chance” comes from the tales of early victims of this kind of robbery who usually recalled how the criminal bus conductor would shout “one chance” signaling the robbery to begin, just as the last unsuspecting victim boards the vehicle. In Abuja, " One Chance" robberries are slightly different as unmarked taxis tend to be the vehicle of choice rather than commuter buses as in the Lagos case. Although some victims have reported some marked taxis and even buses involved in some One Chance operations. Robberies in Lagos can happen at anytime even in the day time along busy places, whereas in Abuja robberies are mostly at night or early in the morning in isolated places. Below are some tips and advice to aid you to avoid being a victim of criminal chancers. http://www.abujafood.com/news-digest/crunch/849-how-to-avoid-qone-chanceq-robbery-in-abuja.html |
