If a conservative 5% of the Nigerian population changes only 50,000 naira each to dollars, that would amount to more than half a billion dollars at the current rate (5% * 200million * #50K / #800 = 625million USD). Hoarding forex is speculative, if you must buy dollar make sure it is for business or investments, not to just be in the account or under your mattress

Investing in dollars to hedge against long term inflation is not a bad idea though. People are only screaming because they want to cash out after a week or a year of "investing."

We have seen Naira fall from N0.5550/$1 in 1972 all the way to 800+ in 2023. It is an investment decision that has never gone wrong since pre independence.

For Any firm to access 3 bn USD loan tell a good story ( 41bn barrels of sweet crude plus 260 trillion cubic feets of Gas reserve. NNPC is no more but our state own Limited liability firm NNPCL . Saudi aramco supports the saudi Arabia it valued at a trillion dollars and remit 25 b USD to the saudi state to stabilized the riyal .
