Mindlog: You are right.
If you visit psychiatric hospitals in Nigeria and go to the male wards, you are more likely to see married women during visiting hours with their admitted husbands but go to the female wards, very insignificant number of men visit their wives who have been admitted there. For most men, getting the wife admitted is the best they can do and visit few times and disappear from the scene, abandoning her to her birth family to take care of. Who funds the hospital bill? I don't think any serious man with a job and bills to pay will sit down with his spouse in the hospital in the name of love or care. If men can do both, then that's very perfect. But how many men can afford the luxury of time and money? One has to give way. |

Praxis758: Lack of strict punishment for bad behaviors is the catalyst for institutionalized atrocities and corruptions in this country.
The tradition of sweeping investigations under the carpet is the major cause why Nigerians have the effrontery to perpetrate evil. They reward bad behaviour everyday and expect the younger generations to avoid Yahoo. Lol. Thieves become Ministers; bribe snuffing criminals become party chairmen.... and they expect the younger generations to hustle legitimately Such a funny country. |

Family › Re: Why Do People Do This After The Death Of Their Parents? by Acidosis(m): 2:13pm On Aug 07, 2023 |
I've always been against this trend too. But for some, you really can't blame them. Many of the renovations you see were carried out with loans.
Let's also not forget the fact that many old people are not hyped about fancy buildings and cars. As you age, your priorities in and about life change. Some families understand this so they channel their care or money towards other areas like creating time to visit their parents, ensuring they eat good food, prioritising their health, employing a house assistant, and keeping their space clean.
The fact that you see some children renovating and painting pre-burial is not a sign of abandonment. Do what matters and what you can afford while they are alive. As long as you do what makes them happy while they were alive, what you do after their demise is completely up to you. |

FreeStuffsNG: Please check your map of Benin again. It seems you did not take geography. The Northern part of Benin shares border with Niger and are culturally related. There are Hausa there and other Northern muslims in Benin like Northern Nigeria.
Ecowas will not fight any war with Niger. Niger can't even function without Ecowas. Ordinary sea import, electricity, banks etc, they cannot run on their own as a nation. Anyone expecting anyone to go to war with a country in abject poverty like Niger does not mean well for Niger.
There will more likely be no war yet the coupists will be sacked. Either a counter coup or arrest of the man. Niger does not have an army and in fact, Nigeria is the one that dashes them military hardwares. Niger can't function without ECOWAS, the country is poor, Nigeria supplies the country with military hardwares, bla bla bla. Yet, you want this same country to remain in the hands of democratic criminals against the people's wish?? Typical agbado eater "we are dying but let's continue to worship our killers " |

You are a liar. Sadiya paid NPower participants even after the one-year programme ended. Keep in mind that more than 80% of the people on the NPower payroll did not do any work. NPower was a rare privilege for many participants to earn a token, not a civil service job. Your friend's passing was a result of life's challenges, not NPower. |
Education › Re: Indian Vs Nigerian University Grading System by Acidosis(m): 4:26am On Aug 05, 2023 |
bigadler: By all means, first class is not an easy grade to achieve in any university, it also depends on the department, but you must be ready to stay consistent.
If Nigeria used the Indian grading system, graduates with 4.0 CGPA and above would would have a 'first class'. We have 2 different second class grades (i.e. upper and lower), while India has 2 different first class grades (1st class with distinction & 1st class). I think it has really helped their citizens get jobs abroad cos most HR and companies don't know this. Beyond getting jobs, the grading system also helps them mentally. The second class thing sounds like "slavery". Imagine someone saying that you're a second class citizen and you carry that certificate (mentality) everywhere you go. Then imagine defining a 3.49 CGPA as "second class" "LOWER". The degree will mess with your mentality at some point. Is it even fair? 3.49/5.00 is 69%. So a man who scores a cumulative 69% at the end of a four year programme is a second class lower citizen of the university? Pathetic! |
