Frumentum: Doesn't look air-droppable. Also looks like it might need a heavy heli like a Chinook to sling it. Other militaries don't tactically insert their operations... It's not a priority because of their area of operation while others don't have a doctrine nor the research how it it's effectively done. |

Frumentum: It's Spieonkop, and I didn't want to get into trouble cos she's supposed to be on anti-piracy ops. "Members of the public may do so, but the rules are clear, if it's operational, first seek approval!" So now that the new OPVs are coming, what will the frigates do?

Now they have one.

Tinfoil: Typical example of what a white supremacist thinking. Africa is still emerging from the yoke colonialism and the birth pangs of freedom are painful. Japan is for Japanese, China Chinese and South Africa for Africans not boers See, that's what sets us apart from everyone else. South Africa belongs all who live in in it - it's in the Constitution. |

africaken254: kenyan pastoralist communities need to change their cultural practices of roaming around with cattle or livestocks, over grazing their land and then invade other people ranches who managed their grazing land well and still have grass to feed their livestocks during drought period.this phenomenon of extreme weather patterns is something ,we have to live with in the coming year.but considering the dumb idiots(Africans who can't change their stupid cultural practices, because their think ancestors will curse them) we have around, its just going to get worse Over grazing is one common issue non commercial farmers have... We have the same problem with non commercial cattle keepers in the rural provinces like the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal. There's too many cows overgrazing these lands and no one is selling. |

Fidha254: You guys are having cyclones down south while drought is raping us dry .. fu(king global warming It's becoming a strange world... However it is the season of the Southern Hemisphere cyclones although South Africa hasn't gotten an extreme cyclone since the year 2000. As for droughts, governments should invest in mega water-capture infrastructure to soften the impact. When it rains (because it does) the water should be captured and stored for extreme droughts... Also, there should be infrastructure to move water from surplus regions to regions in need.... Mostly no fresh water should ever go to the sea. |

Patchesagain: Separate OPS, confrence and flight rooms, big hangar, flex-deck, davits, 13 000 km or 40 day range. However, unlike in these picks it seems from the Defweb article that ours will have the Axe-bow (straight edge), which is neato...
Its a really nice package.
Obviously we will have to wait and see what the final design is, but all in all it should be pretty hard to fvck it up.
Hopefully they can complete the technical negotiations timorously. So it's this one with an Axe-bow

frumentius: Pah! A little water and wind will stop nothing. Seriously though, even the northern provinces on the path of the thing, are being continually downgraded. Don't know about the SA Weather Service, but our guys have downgraded it twice overnight in Limpopo and Mpumalanga. The poor Mozambicans have borne the brunt of it. If they ask for help yet again and the Presidency says yes, whatever remains of the various heli squadrons' operational funds before financial year-end in March, will be completely gutted. Seeing this is almost an annual occurrence, they could fix their disaster management instead of buying expensive and unused French boats in a dodgy deal that has bankrupted the country. I just checked, the Cyclone has been downgraded but the local government has school closed and emergencies on standby - just in case. So what French boats are you referring to |
