jln115: An upgraded Eland would make an awesome recce vehicle, also be much more effective for taken on ,than using technicals African countries love so much! An Eland 90 is a practical vehicle to African conflicts.. Insurgents in don't field anything above the 20mm gun. Just adding modular armour or RPG nets will make it an unstoppable little devil. It's just sad we once had 1600 of these in the barracks. |

Mind you,Nigerian mil weapons ain't all russian. And i wish they'd look East.

overhypedsteve: lol. To avoid derailment I ll let this go. Truth is Nigeria know how to kill South African records, you built the biggest oil refinery in only sub Saharan Africa not Africa but we are building the largest refinery known to mankind, you built the deepest port in South Africa while we are building several large capacity ports not to break records but to deliver value. Soccer world cup infrastructure? Are you kidding me? You shouldn't even talk about it, that was the biggest embarrassment in your nations history seeing you never got to actually partake in the soccer. I am not saying your Government is not trying, I am just saying we are all Citizens of Great Nations. Have a nice evening Mate. Hehehe.... You're posting fairies. Let me show the real things. You're almost 4 times our population but we excel... Thanks for wishing.

overhypedsteve: well you guys have good roads and developed infrastructures from your Apartheid era, well so did the Ancient Mayan Civilization. ~ Added 12 000MW of electricity since 1994 ~ Deepest port in Africa made under the current government ~ Biggest oil refinery in Sub-Saharan Africa made by the current government ~ Gautrain ~ Soccer World Cup infrastructure ~ Currently replacing all metro trains (600+) No African government has done something so similar at this given time frame. |

jakeporeshenko: Go and check them again, hopefully you'll realize how wrong you are, even if you're right I am still posting on topic and not spending my day looking for faults in other militaries on the continent. As every day goes by you saffers increasingly show how insecure you are about the development of other African countries, it is getting really pathetic to say the least.
Follow the rules and post on topic or don't post at all! Dahm trolls. If you think those low grade pictures you post are actual quality, then your world is different from mine we define quality differently. Ok back to the topic, USAF Pave Hawks in Hoedspruit AFB - South Africa

overhypedsteve: Guy stop being like that, your country's GDP is not even up to half a trillion dollar and that's where the people you are calling poor are standing. The idea of South Africa being too developed or industriized or whatever than Nigeria or other African Nations is now becoming a huge fallacy with other African Nations developing their industries. You produce military hardware's? Well so do North Korea and Iran and even Thailand. When it comes to the international scene power is defined by a number of factors and not one. Geography, Economy, Natural resources on reserve, Human resources. E.T.C You really do not have much option than to buy from the west since most of your policy makers still have strong western roots. I don't even know why you feel proud about it when there ar African nations that can mobilize a stronger Eastern equipped force in the same continent as yours. You buy west yet you are stucked with all their outdated equipments. Enjoy your procurements Do you want me to post you infrastructure graphs between South Africa and any other country in Africa? Please choose a country and make sure it's not Nigeria because you don't compare in any way from infrastructure, education, quality of life, business advancement. Etc |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by ActivateKruger: 3:23pm On Nov 20, 2016 |
jakeporeshenko: I really don't get what the problem is with these South Africans, if they are not discussing off topic crap about their country then they are talking down on other African countries. We don't need that here, until you learn to respect other African counties you can all just take your ignorant and arrogant attitudes somewhere else, you don't post pictures anyways so your absence would not really be felt.
Seriously it's like trying to manage a bunch of mannerless kids, I wonder what kind of Supremacist bullshit they feed them in that their country. Mmmh... Maybe you should check the pictures you post, low grade cellphone poses... 90% of the pics you post are not even worth posting. |

chkil: false , for your information algerian su-30 MKA is based on the indian su-30 MKI but MKI have israelian component that's why they change them with russian and french component , if algerian take some french avionics why did they refuse the Rafale ? ? he have the same avionics , french president came in algeria to beg for the contract and algeria refused .
and now their is the Su-30 SM better then the MKI /MKA and algeria will be happy to upgrade it's MKA to SM advanced version in some years . without talking about the beast su-35 the best 4++ génération jet in the world . Nevertheless you didn't use Russian avionics because they're rubbish in comparison. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by ActivateKruger: 1:12pm On Nov 20, 2016 |
patches689: No, that's usually only the US and it's usually only equipment with sensitive components.
Russians don't have to worry about selling sensitive equipment because they know the Americans aren't going to bother stealing it
The only thing the Russians have to keep secret is top of the range air-defence equipment ( which they hardly ever sell). Exactly, the Algerians had to fit French avionics on their Su-30s otherwise without them they're just bigger targets to hit. They then proceed in fitting their Hinds with South African avionics to make them deadly. Algeria knows that their Russian equipment would be out performed by Western systems either from Morocco or across the Mediterranean that's why they went West for the important parts. |

chkil: Some seem to forget that Western countries sell their military equipment limited, downgraded with abusive conditions of control ,And use of political pressures in their markets , Even for allied big countries like Egypt ect...You can't modify a single bolt without the congress vote and permissions , and i don't talk about security of supply and ammunitions in case of war with another country close to usa , that's why some countries go for russians you get what you want and you can modify what you want , also make upgrades in other countries with no russians society , on it and the Russians are better in many field . We don't buy from the US, we buy from the Europeans .... Eastern Bloc weapons are inferior, it's something we debated over and over again. But of course everyone will defend his own country's purchases. |

MikeCZA: A Super Puma would be like modifying the Oryx offering nothing new.
Maybe a local EC275. The issue is the budget or the lack of it..... I think what ever we would acquire would be more like keeping the capability than to add on it. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by ActivateKruger: 8:56am On Nov 20, 2016 |
Henry240: You really should think about the need to quit displaying ignorance in an international forum.
I'm done with you. Where's that spambot when you need it Your defence for Russian/Chinese equipment is becoming too personal.... My statements don't change, countries buy Eastern equipment because it's cheaper. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by ActivateKruger: 8:44am On Nov 20, 2016 |
MikeCZA: The EC725 will replace the Oryx on paper.
Cause Denel's old antelope out performs that bird. In SAAF operational environments the EC725 will be like Super Frelon promising a lot on paper but in reality the helicopter was equally matched in performance by later models of the Puma.
Large arms acquisition is the way forward or else will end up with multiple weapon systems serving the same purpose at different efficiencies. By large acquisition I don't mean arms deal type of acquisition where all needs are bundled into one deal.
But deals like the Badger IFV.
The best deal would for an international company partnering with Denel or Paramount and offer a highly modified bird. The A109's performance is disappointing. So do you suggest an acquisition of a Denel modified Super Puma? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by ActivateKruger: 8:40am On Nov 20, 2016 |
Henry240: We have always bought a mix of Chinese, Russian and Western equipment.
It is your most unfortunate ignorance which touched my nerve. That's what i find pitiable. You bought Russian/Chinese because you were either sanctioned by the West or you simply couldn't afford those platforms. Stop your silly justification for cheap things. |
