Henry240:
I don't know if I'm supposed to repeat myself at every turn.

SOF does not exist. As the term SOF is the exact same thing as SF.

Because you have received additional training in some sort of speciality does not necessarily make you an SOF. You're just a more mobile infantry or a Quick Reaction Unit.

Your MRS is nothing more than a Naval Infantry. If this was the case, every Naval infantryman in the Nigerian navy would be referred to as some special super duper soldier.
Henry240, I think at times it's best you keep quiet. You keep embarrassing yourself with every post you make for your lack of proper info.

You're the only person who would argue with guys who are either in the military or were in the military. For a "regular Joe", you're very opinionated.

Henry240:
No, that's not a proper answer. As SF units also conduct direct fire mission. French SF were the first to enter every city/Town in Mali with insurgents. French SF backed up by air power. Also at-least 2 French SF died in Mali when their SPVs rolled over an IED. Two different incidences

your answer should be, in situations were they are caught in direct action or ambushes or FIBUA they can still defend themselves as they are armed with a 50.Cal and a 7.62mm machine gun. Infact vehicles like the Hornet RDRV have a frontal armour which is able to stop 7.62 fired from a distance of 30 meters. Also SF soldiers would dismount, providing support with small arms. The vehicles are also small enough to cut through city streets.

You use Jacob Zuma's visit to Burundi as an example of the multiple applications in both Direct and Indirect action role.

This is what your answer should look like, not the hubris above.
How many Hornets would you fit in a Hercules C130 vs the number of Mambas APCs? Now you understand why it's used to escort the President outside South Africa? I'm sure you're aware that they'd be there to ESCORT not to start a war and fight a foreign army?

As for the SF on direct fire.. South African SF are less used on those roles in comparison to the French SF (you made example of). If a town had to be assaulted, the SF would do recon while the Motorised and Machanised units assault it first. The SF would be sending in artillery, mortar and guided bombs positions.

We discussed this a million times before, what other countries would call SF would be regular infantry in the SANDF.

I was the one who created the Firestorm about the Hornet that is so beloved by our South African brethren.
Let me add my two cents and create Firestorm#2
It appears the lessons from Bangui has not been learned. This vehicle will not fare well in an urban warfare setting of Mosul and despite the pleas of my South African brethren it will suffer against a fast moving urban terrorists gang swarming on two more fronts simultaneously.
I think we said it a million times that these are not direct fire vehicles, they're "behind enemy lines" vehicles. You dash in and out... For direct fire, APCs, IFVs and tanks are used we have hundreds of them.

OFF-TOPIC

I'm beginning to love these little nimble vehicles.

Russian special forces dune buggy
I at times find you strange Henry240, you rubbished the whole concept last year telling us how useless small vehicles (the Hornet and Gecko in particular) were because they didn't offer enough protection and firepower to operate solo behind enemy lines... Now that the NA is making one, you suddenly "love these little nimble vehicles".

I think everytime you post a picture and place a comment, your own emotions overwhelm you.

NafeesaAA, Henry's body cells aren't playing the right cords and i was told you know his "Password".

Patches you're being pathetically pathetic in your response.

We don't want another Insane argument please.
Derailments are caused by posts that undermine facts and the IQ of forum members. In most cases than not, a non-fact will be posted by a member as a "fact".... Some people (myself included) find it hard to ignore and try to correct those misleading statements THEN arguments start.

A simple apology and admission of lack-of-knowledge from the initial misleading forumer would save everyone the derailment.

it's the same with algerian ones , i read it's because Meko A200 frigates use the Combined Diesel and Gas, CODAG-WARP propulsion package , known for its superior performance regarding acceleration, size, economy and range, along with a very innovative exhaust layout.
Thanks for the info smiley
