ssaengine: Again...their nationality is irrelevent. It is on Nigerian soil. 100% Nigerian operation. So the British would allow Nigeria to send a special forces unit to London, if a Nigerian was ever caught up in a hostage situation that side? Um...nope! Not never. Not ever.
You were grandstanding over a handfull of armed Americans on Kenyan streets, that time the Brits have sent an entire SF unit during live operations on Nigerian soil.

MikeCZA: SA pilots flew the SU-27. When was that? Can you elaborate. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by ActivateKruger: 4:28pm On Oct 27, 2016 |
patches689: lol
They probably have meetings between the two countries to share logistics....
"Who has the Mig-29 this week? You guys right? Its flight hours are pretty high" "Yeah, flew in yesterday" "Ok, we will send over the spares. Could you send over a new engine for the SU-27 that defected to us 2 weeks ago?" "No, its better to wait until the SU-27 defects back to our side, saves money on shipping the engine - DHL charges allot for bulk these days..." They're should defect down south. They could refuel in Zambia and fly straight to Limpopo. Having two SU 27s wouldn't be bad for a case study. |

patches689: I thought TRT is part of NIU The two often get confused by the media. The NIU is based in the metros (deployed nationwide) and their operations are mostly intelligence driven... The TRT is nationwide, there's about 1 unit in smaller towns and more units in bigger ones. Although both get extreme paramilitary pre-election and training BUT the NIU is greater. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by ActivateKruger: 10:10am On Oct 27, 2016 |
frumentius: Oops, NIU. Though I'm told TRT participated in the Northern Cape. Those TRT boys would spill all the information about such trainings in township bars...... Lack of discipline is very rife. In fact it's a danger to have then participating in such an elite training. |

frumentius: This guy! You just want to get me into trouble. On-going series of exercises since March all over the country involving SF, Pathfinders, MRS, STF, CAT, TRT, various civilian agencies etc. We were told to "go crazy with the scenarios". TRT? Don't you encounter any discipline issues with these guys? |

frumentius: We in SA complain about media coverage of the military but some of the Nigerian outlets...
20 JF-17 for $25 million? Also, the 5 in SA are operated by a civilian company. And then there's this: It's only fitting that the "Giant of Africa" will now have an Air Force worthy of the tittle.... As Henry240 said, propaganda runs very deep in that publication outlet. |

All parties are satisfied. Wish they were of higher resolution though. |

61mech: Maybe they just shot a tourist. Maybe, but he insists he was armed with with a pistol and had an unusual camera for a tourist, the "hitman" was wearing what he claimed were SADF standard issued sneakers which were the first thing he and his friends noticed when he was paddling the bicycle. |

MikeCZA: Such stories should be taken with a pinch of salt. Oh well he didn't mention the word "Recce", however he said it was an SADF hitman which made me conclude it was a Recce on recon or to eliminate a high value MK target in Mozas.... He goes on mentioning what the "hitman" was wearing, the bicycle and also had a big-lensed camera posing as a foreign tourist. Normally I don't take former MK claims seriously, they normally brag about their incompetence. But this guy sounded very real, he could flawlessly recall names of the other MK members he was with and how the "hitman's" cover was blown. As you know, the Recce has plenty of botched operations. We only know those where an operator was captured alive and the enemy made it public ( eg Cabinda and Zimbabwe), the ones where operators were killed and bodies not recovered are kept in secrecy and the enemy couldn't provide a direct tangible link with the SADF as they often wore Cuban, SWAPO or Tanzanian uniform when operating deep inside ET. |

frumentius: Throw-back Thursday 1:
With the war in Angola just concluded, Spetsnaz of the Russian Angola Veterans Union invited the Recce over as a sign of mutual respect and admiration among former adversaries. I didn't know such existed, interesting.... But why ain't the black Recces not wearing the snake skin? |

frumentius: Half their REVA APCs aren't running because they've not been maintained. Ditto their air wing. If past experience is any guide, same thing likely with their navy. Then again, an oil-rich dictatorship has standards to uphold . So it's about kickbacks than actually needing the gear which would explain why this purchase was largely unknown to many. They're probably laughing all the way to the closest Chinese bank right now. |
