Henry240: Pained South-African.
You got whopped by poorly armed rebels and you fled.
You fled from your mining rights, and your President, a classic dunce awarded your soldiers medals for cowardice. Is that all you can say? Cowardice? I thought you'd come with facts, figures and stats..... You're wasting my time. |

You can't prove your own claims? I don't want to waste my time on you, go study the Gripen then study the MiG-29 avionics and EW capabilities. Go figure out what we have fitted in our Gripens, then when you do you'll learn to shut up. |

Henry240: South-Africa logic. They didn't have the manpower to takeover the base, was the base ever Seleka's objective?
You make comments like a mice. Knowing you Henry240, I just know you're speaking from butt-hurt... Of course, Nigerian troops would have crossed the Congo River as usual. According to your butt-hurt logic, if you fight an enemy in your country you avoid attacking their base? Root them out completely? I asked you how many rebels do you think died when we ambushed them with 105mm rockets? How many do you think died when we ambushed them with mortar? MGLs.... Of course, you're not gonna give me an answer because you sit all day and Google Facebook pictures of your Skelewu singing boys in uniform. You know nothing about military tactics. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by ActivateKruger: 10:08pm On Oct 31, 2016 |
Henry240: Yet they still had to man-power to take over Bangui.
You South-Africans are hopelessly deluded, it's sad. They didn't have the manpower to take our base.. We stayed there for days in their newly found capital, they didn't have the ability to finish us.... Later on, they sent man in suits to Pretoria and asked we don't retaliate.... They even offered mining rights. |

Henry240: Why don't we make it 3000?
I call it a 300 remake, starring deluded South-Africans who believe their own lies. Let's make a small replay? Take random rebels, add random Libyan mercenaries with a handful special forces from a poorly trained country call Chad. Now make them go against the Parabats, South African Special Forces who had Type 63 rockets, long range mortar, Milkor MGL.... We ambushed them outside town with the 105mm rockets, so how many Selekas do you think died there? Then we constantly hit them with multiple mortar shells, how many do you think died? Then with the Milkor MGL... These guys lost hundreds of fighters before they even got to town... |

africaken254: russia R-27T infrared-homing AAM has no known infrared homing AAM that can be compared with it when its comes to range, also the gripen would have had limited air to air fighting capability due to its bomb load LOL.... Limited, how? Do they punch each other in the air? First, the MiGs wouldn't find the Gripens when EW is deployed.. Even if they did by a mere chance, their missiles would be useless because of jamming. So, Chadians would be flying blind and wouldn't be able to defend themselves against the SAAF Gripens. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by ActivateKruger: 7:54pm On Oct 31, 2016 |
africaken254: the Chadians would have used their own radars stations across the border to guild their Migs-29,who would have warned your gripens jet while on bombing run against seleka that some Migs were hunting them or you want to tell me that the limited gripen radar coverage of 4 gripens would have being sufficient ! The MiG 29 is a limited platform that's why Hungary ditched it for the Gripen. If the two had to go head-on, the Gripen has a smaller radar signature so the radars on the MiGs wouldn't have detected it until halfway. That means the Gripen would know about the MiGs way before the MiGs knew about the Gripen.... So it would have been on the SAAF command to engage first or avoid. If it was to engage, the Gripen comes with EW, modern radar jammers in comparison to the MiGs so all their missiles would be jammed without counter measures and that would have been the end of the the MiGs. |

africaken254: when south africa deployed its Gripen jets in uganda during the CAR incident, how could they south african's known if chads had also deployed its MIG-29's near its border with CAR We wouldn't have known. However, Chad wasn't gonna get involved in the conflict directly. Remember this, Chadian SF were disguised as normal Seleka militia for obvious reasons. Having your valuable the Mig 29s (only 3 in total) going against the 4 Gripens is risky at all levels. |

tdayof: I just found a translated version.
AESA RADAR
Working Mode TWS Single/Multiple Objects Tracking Dogfight Real-Beam Map DBS Synthetic Aperture Imaging Ground Moving Target Scanning and Tracking Searching and Tracking On-The-Sea Target Meteorology Mode Missile Guidance & Multi-target Attack Multimode alteration etc.
Main Feature Long detect range Multi-target High precision
So the radar in question is an AESA airborne fire-control radar, as can be seen in the heading of the product-introductory monitor screen- and is a 'technology upgrade and jump in generation' of the existing radar on the current batch of JF-17s in service while being comparable to the F-35's radar(as stated by the product introductory monitor screen) FJ - 17 radar is comparable to the F-35s? |

lionel4power: in SUMMARY, so you are basing your threat assessment on the goodwill of your neighbors.
hoping that they are good and nice to you.
I HOPE YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD KEEPS BEING NICE FOR YOUR SAKE. OK chief. Are you aware that you don't magically wish for weapons to appear in your base? You buy them with CASH and that cash is within your own budget. So given the national budget, what makes you think we would forsake all the other necessities for defence? Do you know that if you neglect the voters then you will not see office again?.... In South Africa, if you buy a bullet and the media hears about it students will be marching on the streets demanding they get free tertiary education, then unemployment grants, free houses, free Internet and all exotic freebies. WHY? because you'd have given them the impression that you have money to prepare for an invisible enemy. |

lionel4power: Something we tend to forget easily is that most wars fought since... the aggressor usually coerce the neighbors to allow their troops pass through the border to attack Which is often true if you have neighbours that really hate you.... southern Africa seems to get along that's why we resisted a proposed American forward base in Botswana, as for the rest of SSA - I have no idea. |

lionel4power: South African has an Excellent EW suite covering a large spectrum, me thinks unit for unit, SA has the lead in EW in africa but the lack of aerial platforms baffle me.
since SA understand the value of ground surveillance and target acquisition why dont you guys have any Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Moving Ground Target Indicator (GMTI) for total ground warfare control.
except you have and I dont know about. We use the Kondor E satellite... Please know that it's a Russian launched satellite BUT we have ownership. Details about its capacity are very sketchy because of the secrecy surrounding it. |

lionel4power: your reasoning is that whenever you need it you'll buy it.
heres an african proverb *its better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it*
although Egypt has the northrob Gruman's E2C hawkeye.
me thinks that Nigerian whenever she has enough fighter fleet can approach Sweden for the Erieye AEW&C Which pakistan, saudi arabia, brazil, greece, thailand, mexico e.t.c has.
The radar provides 300 degree coverage and has an instrumental range of 450 km and detection range of 350 km in a dense hostile electronic warfare environment—in heavy radar clutter and at low target altitudes. In addition to this, the radar is
also capable of identifying friends or foes, and has a sea surveillance mode.
most AEW&C has sea mode for patrolling the vast ocean. - Egypt needs AWACS because Rafale + Meteor BVRAAM - Sub-Saharan doesn't need AWACS because there's no active BVRs beyond 120km. - Most SSA countries operate a dozen or two jets and those who do often have neighbours who don't, so who are you defending against? No one. See, if Uncle Bob discovered oil in his country to change his fortunes then decides to buy the latest Russian interceptors while there's a new government in Pretoria that dislikes him THEN we will be compelled to add new air capacity and yes an AWACS plane to play along. |

africaken254: ok,your spending on development !what the fastest internet speeds offered to internet household users in south africa and give me the link? South Africa is; - Building two new thermal power stations equating to 9 000MW (among the biggest in the world) - Preparing to build 8 nuclear reactors which will cost a fortune - Just finished building the largest electric wind farm in Africa - Building the Meerkat telescope, it discovered over a thousand new galaxies in just a weekend of testing. - Building new 600 new trains and yes some come with WiFi - Just finished building the largest oil refinery in S.S Africa - Just finished building the deepest seaport in Africa - Expanding the the Durban port The list is just a tip of an iceberg and all those things require money. |

africaken254: that the problem with south africa ! your ambition does go farther than your neighbouring countries or sub-Sahara countries.that why i know for sure that south african isn't the future of sub sahara countries,we need a truly progressive sub sahara country to be our leader Hey, if you want to buy us an AWACS, 300km+ BVRs, 2 more Gripen squadrons then you're welcome.... But till then our military ambition is just around our borders because it's what we afford (without upsetting the public) As for the economic ambition, it goes as far beyond that - you tend to sell things better when you're not talking about guns. |

lionel4power: •Egypt • Algeria • Tunisia • South Africa
Having an AEW&C will boost airbourne operational command and control.
Nigeria also needs a multiple platforms mounting a Synthetic Aperture Radar for ground surveillance. Egypt = yes, but it's not Sub-Saharan. As for the SAAF, we'd want it for platform training but not need it for real life. See, unless we decide to mount the Meteor BVR on the Gripen then we'd need it. As for the moment, all our neighbours are flying not-so-lethal machines and Angola (with potential machines) is not even a remote threat. |
