AnyanwuSilas:
We are not talking of ethnicity here but injustice against some people indigenous to some states state mostly from the South.

Some students change/deny their State of origin because of cut-off mark just to get admitted into the so called One Nigeria National school.
It means you people are the problem.

The number of people required from each state is the same. Why do people from the east come out in millions trying to get to Unity school and people from the north do not care and hardly fill their slots. Meanwhile it is important from all states to be there. Why will you say its injustice when the struggle is not the same from every state. The cut off is a reflection of the number of applications from a state. It s not injustice.

If you want to employ workers and the minimum criteria is 3rd class degree and only 2 people are required while 4 applied. It's easy to select. But when 1 million apply, you will push up the qualification say 2-2 so that less people will apply. if 20 million apply, to reduce the application you will say you want only first class. That's what is happening to the SE and SW.

If 20 people are required for each state but 10 apply from Yobe, that means even if they get 2points, they will be admitted. But if 20 is required from Anambra, and 20 million apply, the best way to screen down to 20 is put a very high cut off.

Why do oil companies demand for first class graduates? It's simple, it's a high paying job and applications are high, So automatically, their entry criteria is also high. If no one wants the job, they will drop to even 3rd class or pass..

There is no injustice, is just pure logic.

You should ask yourself, are there no Igbos in the management of unity schools. Do they hold the same opinion as you? Am sure not, because I know that they understand what Unity school is meant for but you don't understand.

All your ranting boils down to ignorance.

That's your own definition of Unity,
What's the purpose of that your Unity?

You reject the admission of people from Anambra state because they scored 138 and admitted people who scored 2 because they are from Yobe state.

This made some students to change the state of their origin for them not to miss admission.

You're just evil for supporting evils.
It's obvious you have no comprehension.

No matter what you read, you will never understand.

What's your definition of Unity? you divided students based on States and called it unity?

You speak like you're the mouthpiece of Nigeria. It's either you agree with restructuring or perished with Nigeria.
I will perish with my country, what about you? If you will not, why do you care?

Unity is when u see the a Nigerian from Kano and the other from Ibadan as your brother and understand him and tolerate him in his way of life.

A unity school is where u meet people from every state of Nigeria, live with them, study their culture, and understand how and why they do the things they do which at the end you should be able to propagate unity to those who don't understand other people. That's the aim.

What you are displaying is the exact thing the unity school is trying to eradicate.

We do not agree with this arrangement.

This is why Nigeria must restructured or destroyed.
It's okay to say you don't agree with the arrangement, However, there is no issue of agreement here. You take it or fly out of Nigeria.

On the matter of unity school, you either take it and unity schools continue to exist or destroy and then unity schools cease to exist, thereby return the already established mandate of secondary education to states.

Secondary school is not the responsibility of FG, this is just a special thing for the purpose of unity. You don't want unity, fine ask your state government for a good school and allow FG to concentrate on tertiary education.

It's not even up to you. Why am I even wasting my time.

yet states with lower scores have more intakes than those with high scores. Some state with the lowest scores don't even fill their quota despite encouraging requirement. But what manner policy which favours 10/100 over 50/100 yields better results
It's unity school for god's sake. The aim for the school is unity. The aim is not excellence. The aim is to go to school with people from all states of Nigeria. How difficult is this aim for you to understand.

All states have equal opportunities, it's not about how much you score. The how much you score is meant within your own state. Some States are educationally ahead and some are backwards. The aim is to have the same number from all states.

Those who don't fill their quotas is not because they can't excell, it's because they mostly are not interested.

Secondary education is the responsibility of state governments, but Unity schools by FG is meant for national integration and for unity. You guys are just looking at the subsidized quality they have but not looking at the aim.

Once FG does what you think they should do, it means unity schools have failed and it will be scrapped. Just because Anambra scores high does not mean Anambra should have higher admission. Will it be a unity school if everyone in the school is from Anambra?

But her primary 6 classmate in the same primary school, who is from Kaduna State was given admission into Queens College with far lesser mark.

My family owns a school in Lagos and one of our former pupils whose state of origin is Abia state, made it into Queens College, Lagos.
Let me explain again.

If every state must have admissions for every school session, let's assume 20 per state and probably 30 for host state. You should expect that states with less applications to Queens college will have lower cutoff mark and states with high applications will have Higher cutoff. Imo could be one of the highest in term s of applications, you should naturally expect that the competition from your state is higher.

Your sister might have made the cutoff mark but still have others who have higher marks than her. If from our assumption the number of people who are ahead of her is more than 20, that means she doesn't qualify. But a person from another state with less marks than her, with lower applications can still get admission.

You tried so hard to display intelligence but end up looking bad in the eyes of the intelligent.

The aim of Unity school is not to admit the best students from the best states. It is for students of all states to study together, interact, understand and tolerate each other. At the end, foster National Unity.

Exactly on point.

Now, it depends on the competition from your home state, Imo. So if the Kaduna girl even scored less, but Kaduna quota is not filled or the competition is on pure merit. Then the Kaduna girl stood a higher chance.

So if there are higher scores from Imo, her chances will be lower despite her high marks.

We are from Imo state
Just like NYSC, you are not meant to be posted to where you are from, where both parents are from, where you lived or schooled, or where you have visited and spent considerable time.

You are meant to go to a strange place.

Living in Lagos reduced your sister's chances. The experience is better appreciated by an Imo indigene who doesn't have family in Lagos.

When she applied, using a Lagos address alone will make it difficult for her.

In yobe boy needs 2 points, while a girl needs 27 points

In Taraba boy needs 3 points, girl needs 11.

In sokoto boy needs 9 points, girl needs 13

In kebbi boy needs 9 points, girl needs 20 points

Are the boys not supposed to need more points than the girls.
In certain cultures, the birth of a boy automatically is a farm help, a girl is meant only for marriage. Those who are from these places will prefer their girl child to either go to school or marry.

I will never support quota system in anything else except the Unity School system.

If you understand that the objective of the unity school is to always have a diverse mixture together and all enjoying subsidised education, then you will appreciate why it is a quota based system.

Otherwise, quota does not allow for the best.

Unity school is not for the best, it is for unity in diversity.

I used to know about some federal government school for the gifted.

That type of school should have no quota system to recruit students of diverse ethnicities, but a single system of recruiting only the exceptionally gifted students, regardless of which part of the country they originate from.
Thumbs up

Those who don't understand should also question why Jamb cutoff for MBBS is very high compared to Library science.

My eldest sister scored 543 when it was over 600 and Imo state had the highest cut off mark of 527 back then.

She passed the subsequent interview but was not given admission to her first choice of Queens College, Lagos nor her second choice FGC Ijanikin as my parents wanted her to remain in Lagos....dem post am go FGC Sokoto but her classmate from Kaduna who scored less than 450 got admitted into Queens College...my parents said thunder fire Federal Ministry of Education and refused the admission, got my sister enrolled in a day secondary school in Lagos 😂😂😂
So your sister lives in Lagos and probably from the South West and you expected Queens college to be easy?

Do you even know what Unity school is? Do you know the aims and objectives of the schools.

I am above 40, even before this age I correct and lecture my parents on things they don't know or are wrong about.

If your parents don't understand, you should try to understand and let them know it's expected.

Let me tell you the most difficult admission to get, it is more difficult to get a unity school in your own state. It's by design.

Just because Queens college is in Lagos doesn't mean they will fill it up with people from Lagos.

I don't agree.

On the contrary, the high cut off is due to numbers of applications or competition within a state.

The aim of the school is unity, numbers of slot for each state is same. The cutoff is always adjusted to get the number from each state the same.

DIVINEEVIDENCE:
And your idea of unity is to give admission to a student who failed 98 questions out of 100 while denying the one who got 86 questions correctly?

An example of unity is what obtains in the NYSC, where Igbo is posted to Fulani communities and Yoruba to Itsekiri.

Unity schools should operate in that same sense by shipping students to different states to intermingle and develop a broader world view.

This admission quota is pure marginalisation.

I should think the idea of educationally less disadvantaged states should be a long-term project of shaping up the education quota of bereft states to match up with their sharper counterparts.

If after 50 plus years an average student in Kebbi would find it difficult to score up to 50% in general subjects then the system should be scrapped.
It is clearly unworkable.
The idea of unity school is to have people from 36 states and FCT, in one school.

It is not to have 500 students from Anambra and none from Yobe.

The quota is not because Anambra people have brains and Yobe people don't. The problem is Yobe people don't have the zeal or interest based on cultural and religious issues. You have less of them even wanting to go to school not to talk about going to a Unity school far from home.

Do you know that initially, you only go to a unity school totally out of your zone. Now people from Kano are sent to Kaduna. They have even relaxed it to encourage some areas.
EducationRe: Why Is There No Uniform Cut Of Marks For Unity Schools In Nigeria? by adanny01(m):
Jokerman:
The cut of marks for pupils seeking to get admission into Federal secondary schools recently released shows a disparity in cut off marks.

Why will someone from Anambra need to score as high as 139, and someone in Yobe need to score 2?

Or why will someone in Lagos need to score 133 and another from Kebbi need to score 9 to gain admission??
The fact that you don't understand why is not strange.

What is unity school in the first place? It's a school that represents unity i.e one school where you meet people from all parts of Nigeria.

So if every state must be in every unity school, and all states are given the same number of slots, say 20. If 20million students apply from Anambra but only 15 students applied from Yobe, You get the difference in cutoff points. That's means for any student from Anambra has a 1 in million or 0.0001% chance to get admission and a person from Yobe has a 130% chance to get the same admission. The way to apply that percentage is the cut off marks. It's the same reason that the Jamb cutoff for MBBS is higher than Zoology or why your 350 in Jamb from Anambra doesn't automatically qualify you for admission in all Federal universities.

While Anambra students queue up in millions to get a chance to go to a unity school, the slots for people of Yobe is not even filled.

This unfilled slots defeats the aim of unity school. So they want Yobe students to be there, hence the almost zero cut off mark.

You can't say let us then give Anambra all the slots because they have more brains, that means some unity schools will have only Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia state students only. That school now fails as a unity school, it is now a southeast Unity school.

How many Hausa/Fulani do you think will allow his daughter go to a unity school 3 states away? In the north, parents are begged even at this time and age to send children to school.

What do you expect? These things are made with reasons.

From the opening post, I understand what happened. Bet9ja is not responsible since the person who did the fraud is a staff of a third party.

The real problem is that Bet9ja is not liable for the 16m, the shop owner is the one who is liable. I am sure the shop owner cannot afford 16m so the cashier and her boyfriend are heading for jail.

Bet9ja as a company should have done better, what is 16m compared to their customers. I think they should have compensated the guy with at least 10m and liquidated the shop to recoup some of the settlement.

Anyways betting in a shop is something I will never do.

So I did something stupid this afternoon.
The p0011 code I was having disappeared 2days ago and didn't return. But mumu me had my mind already made up that my VTC actuator has been kazeemised. So despite the code clearing on its own, my brain was just not at peace. So I went ahead to open up my valve cover and my actuator (yes, I opened up the actuator itself) and lo and behold, it has not been tampered with.
With the actuator open, I removed the locking spring and pins and turned the crankshaft while watching the actuator vanes and it was actually free from the sprocket, ie, it was working as supposed.
I was happy, angry and confused all at the same time.
Why did the code persist for so long?
Why did it suddenly clear when I'm about to go crazy on it?
I'm sure everything is regards my VTC is working fine, which means I've not found the problem. Or maybe there was never a problem. My brain is headaching me. grin
And as normal, one or two things were damaged in the process, all for nothing.
I hope that evil p0011 doesn't come back if not, I will just set the car on fire and have peace of mind. (Don't worry I no fit burn my only car grin)
Before you opened it up, were u experiencing the rattle sound at cold start?

If the P0011 returns, next thing to check is the VTC oil screen then the VTC solenoid which has screens too. Any of the 2 clogged screen will also cause the P0011. Low oil pressure could cause it too. That means, change engine oil filter.

I'm the second user, so I can't say what the first user has done probably to get rid of the rattle. But I don't like throwing parts at a car.
I currently have p0011 code, rough idle (vibration at idle), a bit long crank before start.
The p0011 keeps coming back after about 2 drives.
They either weld or put something inside to permanently lock it.

If P0011 always returns, Yes it is locked. You experience lack of power especially above 2500rpm and rough Idle

The problem is B.tech is being offered by Universities of Technology. We all know the B.tech in a university and B.tech in a polytechnic isn't the same curriculum.

If not for the Nigerian system, polytechnic would have suited me better as I have more personal skills in tech than what I went through in the university. I used to envy those in poly. They are more practical and have extensive laboratories. The curriculum teaches how to do it. Universities teach what is needed to do it.

They should just stop comparing it.

It is better they ask to be upgraded to University of technology than ask HND to be B.tech.
