If there is any institution that has performed , its the judiciary. there is no democracy without judiciary. It predates both the executive and legislative branches. OBJ  was sworn by CJN. INEC cannot usurp the role of the judiciary.
Politics › Re: Is Inec Bigger Than Nigerian Law. by adconline(op): 11:01am On Mar 17, 2007
so long as you understand that INEC  is  not  Judiciary  to interpret the law. If there is something , INEC does not understand , it should seek for further clarification from the court, but we know OBJ's government as a lawless government. Didn't  lawyers  go on strike becuase of OBJ contempt of court? Didn't  fmr Chief justice, Uwais said that he would have orderd for OBJ's arrest. Its absurd to think that OBJ and INEC are not playing politics but the judiciary. NASS had to write the supreme court on clarification, but INEC has refused to do that. INEC still has the right to appeal the ruling, but has not done so. NOBODY HAS EVER SAID SOMETHING ABOUT ANDY UBAY. INEC'S CATCH 22.

j-girl

How many times, have you taken time to see what girls do to men? All you see is a one way road.

Ome eko @ I had expected you to tell me that men cheat with fellow men, men leave their wives/girlfriends for fellow men. What is the truth in your post? Do you know anything about absurdity in argument, because your TRUTH just reflected one.

I think there is a conflict of assimilation here. Women are taught from childhood, that they should run from men, should see men as  their greatest opponents, should use their power to undo men,  should not let men kiss them , or else they will be pregnant.  That they should strive to find a suitable husband- a husband who has been portrayed as an oppresor, sexmaniac, liar, and a cheat. So how do you reconcile these notions?
Men on the other hand are not taught anything about women.

The hand writing on the wall is that OBJ never wanted to hand over power. He is hell bent on derailing this electoral process, because  Atiku and Co will engage him in  political and legal battles. OBJ will declare a state of emergency to continue. INEC   does not make law and as such should not interpret the law. There was an Abuja High court in favor of Atiku.
Shagari and co amassed public funds; they were barred from holding any political gethering by Buhari. No kobo was recovered from them- U remember Umaru dikko.
IBB could not acount for $12 billion oil wind fall,  Ribadu said that he would  not allow him to rule Naija again. What about prosecution?
Marwa was intimidated and we dont hear about him any more. What happened to his loot?  Abacha stole money, his family may not contest, but they still have  his stolen loot.
Abdulsalam Abubakar depleted our national treasury, he is a free man. OBJ stole money so did Atiku. INEC has disqaulified Atiku, well, what happens to his loot. No prosecution, because OBJ was also indicted by Senate report. This vicious circle of stealing public fund continues  and the only penalty is to stop you from contesting election.

Yar'dua if he wins will do same thing and fall out with his deputy. If OBJ is really serious let him redraft the constitution in order to weaken executive immunity. Let's remember that EFCC  acted  out this script and yet ANDY UBA is a free man. Ribadu gave OBJ  a clean bill on corruption and Senate report accused him of misusing $26 million. Let's get real folks. We never solve corruption by stopping political opponents; because incoming government will amass wealth. Get one chance and steal billions, penalty = thou shall not contest next election, but you are free to loam Naija with your loot.

dblock  it seems that you are one on drug because you believe that Atiku caused all the plane crashes and power failures in Naija. INEC is telling other govt agencies that they can  disobey court orders with impunity. NBC can shut down AIT, MBI and co, NAFDAC can seize and destroy people's products, Police can lock opposition candidates withour recourse to the law. Atiku is a fraction of the problem. Mugabe is locking opposition, Museveni of Uganda is locking opposition, So is Zenawi of Ethiopia and Nigeria has joined the list. WELCOME TO ANOTHER RETROGRESSION OF THE CENTURY. What Abacha did ten years ago, we are repeating today. We are glorifying in illegality. Millions  are going to be disenfranchised in Anambra because of this singular act.

ome eko.,
why  are brandishing your unEnglish insults on men.  Do men cheat with men or women? Do men lie to men or women. For every wrongful act committed by a man, there is a corresponding female. This is a junk yard fallacy. Men do it with women.

tanicarr.
naija men are worse, may be you stick with American men oops Jesus. One that got the magic stick but does not  care for  his  many fruits of labor. lol

it seems some non-naijaa/naija  women have higher expectation of naija men. Get real folks, take it the way you took it when your first love dumped you. Should  we call naija guys to tell their own stories. Some babes have formed a mini United Nation to prosecute this fellow.

MYOPIC MINDED NIGERIANS OBJ  misused $26 milion and Atiku  misused $120 according to Senate report They are both thieves,  so OBJ is so unclean to conduct a free and fair election. Andy Uba is his stooge in Anambra. Let's glorify that another stooge, Yar'dua,  is comming to power. Can good thing come out of Jerusalem?
Politics › Re: Is Inec Bigger Than Nigerian Law. by adconline(op): 6:42am On Mar 16, 2007
You are not seeing a bigger picture, Atiku is disqualified yes, and this sets a precedent for presidents. Yar'dua will use it against his rivals. Ngige and Peter Obi are disqualified for a rogue like Andy Uba to be a governor. Illegality can never give rise to legality. Atiku is a monster created by OBJ and he is not better.
Politics › Re: Is Inec Bigger Than Nigerian Law. by adconline(op): 6:28am On Mar 16, 2007
Is INEC a decision making body? The senate makes the law and courts interpret it. So INEC cannot disobey court orders. Its because that Zimbabweans were afraid to ask questions that Mugabe will have the nerve to tell them to go hang for disagreeing with his policies. Nigeria is shifting towards anarchy, look at people getting charged for terrorism. Not even Asari Dokubo could be charged for terrorism, but political opponents like Iyiochia Ayu who was a federal minister in OBJ's government.

I don't think that Atiku and Yar'dua have got what it takes to improve our health care system because they are not ashamed that they have been in governemnt for the past eight years, yet have not built a single hospital to cater to their medical needs. I came to a conclusion that politicians do not even love themselves.

I WILL NOT VOTE FOR THEM IF MY VOTE WILL COUNT

Seun I love you for this.  Please tell them very well.  Government seems to be a god to these people.
Do some Nigerians really know what Government is all about since they have not had any, a comparison is based on two or more known conditions, thus Nigerians have only known one condition- bad government; I was not surprised to see that some folks think that Government should bequeath its responsibilities to Nigerians.

Bad governance has robbed off Nigerians the mindset to know what government is really all about.  I feel that some Nigerians do not have sense of  reasoning to know when things are good or bad, they  have lived all their lives in abject poverty so any slight enhancement of public utilities is a noble achievement.    Is Nigeria aspiring to be a world class country?  These aforementioned arguments will not stand, but if Nigeria is aspiring to be a third world giant, then those arguments will stand.  It seems to me that some people do not know that bore hole is an aberration or improvisation.  Have you seen any bore hole in Canada or US? Do Nigerians really deserve less because our leaders are corrupt? I don’t subscribe to the notion that a black man should endure hardship simply because his oppressor is black. If it had been white men, we would have shouted racism.

Politics › Re: Nigerian Police Torture 'routine' by adconline(op): 7:39pm On Mar 10, 2007
we talk as if we no be Naija. Someone calls police on you and you are arrested without a warrant. Police will arrest you for not giving bribe. Police will arrest people for partrolling a neigbourhood. I used to leave near a Sentor's house and every time he's in town there will be lots of arrests just because people were going about their biz. Disputes in Naija are settled by police officers who take bribe from complainant . folks do not go to court.

Nigerians in Nigeria are brain washed and can't seem to see beyond their nose! Just mention Hollywood, u see them amusing themselves on Nairaland! No wonder the book of hollywood says: my people perish because they do not know how hollywood operates.

This is another patriotic post, just like saying that Nigeria will win the World Cup. Bollywood will be considered b4 Nollywood. This is for self glorification of those who think that movie making starts and ends in Naija. Naija movies are not making into African Film festival and we are talking Hollywood.Unless we are talking of a movie where Monique will tell you that fat is fabulous. If this what we mean by Hollywood, then it very possible, but if we are talking about a big screen Hollywood movie to be produced by a top notch Hollywood producer, people let's calm down. This is the same thing that lured Regina Asikia from Naija to marry an American husband with the hope of making it big in Hollywood. Americans are not watching Naija movies and you think that Naija actors or actresses could make it in Hollywood.

@betantee

Have you taken any business risk? that's why you felt that Onitsha Marketers could not speak English. The issue is that you are taking a swipe at people investing their money. By the time we know it, this thread will be tribalized. Naija and their class consciousness. Do you know that Onitsha has got the highest numbers of financial institutions in Nigeria after lagos, Abuja and PH. In UK, a place that has these banks will be respected, but for Naija its always a class issue. Do you know that there is no difference between what Wal Mart does and Onitsha trader. Simply put; buying and selling.

lawyers can prosecute, but cannot deliver justice. lawyers can prosecute but cannot enforce the law. This sounded like Naija we are looking forward to living in. As for now, e no dey possible to stop piracy.
TV/Movies › Re: Ramsey Nouah And Emeka Enyiocha For Hollywood by adconline(m): 6:11am On Mar 09, 2007
Another naija Hype, just like Tu Face stepping into Usher's shoe in music industry. There are milions of actors and actresses who dont even make it in Hollywood, let alone Naija actors. if we are talking about Hollywood movie with Naija plot and theme, but boy do you know that most Americans who are into porn tried Hollywood?
TV/Movies › Re: No Award-Winning Movies From Nigeria: Why? by adconline(op): 7:49am On Mar 08, 2007
Seun you are talking of a regulated industry abroad while Naija is unregulated. Piracy is no 1 enemy for movie makers in Naija. They make their money from theater distribution mostly b4 it hits the market abropad. Even DVD distribution , you will have to pay for massive production, transportation, warehousing etc. Retail stores also take some peercentage for distribution. If there is so much money to be made from dvd distribution, then there will no theater distribution.
TV/Movies › Re: No Award-Winning Movies From Nigeria: Why? by adconline(op): 7:18am On Mar 08, 2007
Seun, your argument sometimes baffles me. How can you say that an award winning film with bigger audience is losing money. Do you mean losing money in Naija or Abroad. Piracy is not as open as it is in Naija. I would think that Naija film makers lose a lot of money because of DVD marketing instead of theater distribution.
Politics › Gay Issues Or Nigerian problems: Which are More Important? by adconline(op): 7:12am On Mar 08, 2007
Why dedicate so much time to this gay/lesbian issues when the Senate could  not tell OBJ and ATIKU that   they missappropriated public funds? Our number issue in that country  has nothing to do with gay.  Let the house pass a sweeping legislation  that will change the face of our country.

EZRA was made by a Nigerian living abroad- France. That's why his film conformed to international standard. If you have seen Tsotsi, you will notice the huge differnece between Naija films and S/African films. pls could someone take Igbos out from this topic because they are the greatest risk takers in this industry.
