Key missing piece in this whole drama.. No formal agreement between ASU and Naija goverment on how the fund would be spent. ASU general counsel insists that " oral" agreement trumps whatever demand students might be bring.. Naija is a wasted country!!

Any thing Nigerian scholarship

Is a No no for me

I cant live in America execept go there and visit and come back home

The racism in that country is next to non.. even black American discriminate against Africans.

United kingdom is the same thing ...all they need is our money

Canada , south Africa ,Australia are the only country I can stay in..

High time we stop going these countries and develop our own

Our borders, airport , seaport should be close for like two years and let see if we won't be developed.
What a display of congenital idiocy!! You are more likely to be discriminated against in Naija than in the US because of your tribe, religion, status, education
You are more likely to killed by a police/army officer because of a simple argument
Your are more likely to be killed or turned to a refugee in your country by BH- over 300kand 2m displaced.

So what is your point? 80m poor folks in Naija vs 5m poor folks in Venezuela.. Can you do math??!
Their situation is a lot better than Naija. Their govt subsidizes food, healthcare and social programs. They are mad that diary products are scarce. If I may ask you where can you get fresh milk in Naija?? Their GPD per capita is over $13k while that of Naija is about $3k. My point is that poor folks in Venezuela are like Kings in Naija.
Government revenue in Venezuela is $142bn while in Naija $30bn and their govt has more than 4x to spend on a 30m people vs Naija with $30bn to spend on 170m peeps. BTW, 70% of that goes to Politrickians and overhead cost. Naija poor folks aren't rioting because they have never received freebies or social benefits from govt, so what's the point of rioting and getting shot??

You do know most aides are taken from the civil service right?
Also the whole budget is not used for salary payments, there are things such as capital projects and learn servicing in the budget.
Aides, PAs,and SAs are political appointees!! This is a rehash, CAPEX is only 30% and only 15% could be implemented while 70% of the RECEX will be expended.

1) Companies don't have laws that state that they must have directors from all states all the Federation.
2) Civil service rules means you can't just fire workers anyhow. I you like, merger all ministries into one, you'd still have the same workers as before unless you want to retire a majority with full benefits.
Common sense dictates that if u merge 3 ministries into 1, over cost of hiring PAs, SAs, aides and political advisers will reduce, but career civil servants remain, but in APC case, cost of governance went up by over 60% even though it merged or reduced ministries by 50% and at no time did federal workforce increase by 50%. Budget of N4tn in 2015 was used to pay federal workforce, but budget of N6tb in 2016 is being used to pay the same workforce even though ministries were reduced from 30something to 18? How come we are paying more without any salary increment or new hiring??

1) No worker(aside from ghosts) was fired from the any of the ministries, at best the redundant ones were redeployed.
2) For each of those ministries, Fashola would have a special adviser for the various sub heads/departments/whatever they are called officially. Fashola definitely has more aides than the regular minister.

You need to learn how government works.
So the primary goal of merging 3 ministries into one was to compensate party loyalists and financiers like Amechi and Fashola with plum and juicy portfolios?? You merged ministries, you personal and overhead costs went up instead of down?? So companies merge to decrease their operational cost and improve profit, APC merges ministries to increase cost of governance!

50% of 1.8 T is still more than CAPEX of last year.
Naija didn't start existing since last year. Previous years CAPEX was above 30% when budget was about N4tn with exchange rate of less than N150.
Ministries were reduced by 50% and RECEX was still increased. Presidency budget went from N6.6bn in 2015 to N39bn in 2016. Most importantly, it's pure profligacy to borrow 60% of ur budget to finance recurring expenditure.

They increased national budget by 50% from N4tn to N6tn and still capped CAPEX at 30% even though they merged ministries by 50%, they still increased recurrent expenditure by 70%. They later told us that they would only implement 15% of the capital budget.

Not true. You are not reading deeper, higher than last year but not all other years. Mind you they increased the budget by 50% from N4tn to N6tn and still capped capex at 30%. Also ministers and aides came out to say that they would only implement CAPEX by 15%.

Can you justify why the car "Toyota Camry" is not named after the radio, tyre, battery or the plug production company?

In a conventional environment, a product is named after the company that produce the engines since other parts are minor. So why should a car be named Innoson Product if the major part (engine) is Toyota, Kia or whatever?
False.. Dodge Ram in the US is powered by Cummins and Allison transmission. Tata cars are powered by Fiat, Cummins, AVL of Austria. Stop trying to dash ignorance!!

If he had a domestic engine manufacturing plant...which is what Ajaokuta and govt research sites like PRODA and CADD would have provided...we won't have been talking about this problem here.

You cannot be a car manufacturer without being able to design and make your own engines. And engines cost a lot of money to make and design...and as a result...are very expensive.

And guess what...it is the Japanese and US manufacturers that are still selling most of the cars used in the world today.

Them Chinese and Indians wont get anywhere until they get local content improved.

Innoson's problem is forex. If he was assembling enough cars....ie something like 1 million every year...he would have been able to make enough forex to keep on assembling and buying foreign tech until he was able to put his R and D team together...and Ajaokuta was working...for him to save money by doing everything at home.

But Innoson is not assembling enough cars...and was dependent on government patronage...which worked so long as oil prices were high.

Thing is....Innoson should have focused during the times of plenty....of making the engines in Nigeria. Not importing them from outside...which is too risky.

Chinese and Indian companies sell in high volume (Tata of India produced 580000vehicles in one year...Innoson does not get up to 10000 a year)...to earn money for those powertrains.
Tell us how many cars Tata produced in its first 5 years of operation?
How come Fiat, Cummins, AVL are still building engines for Tata motors in spite of being in business for over 70yrs??

And most of them do that when they become big enough to do that...and when they are earning enough profits to do so.

All successful car manufacturers start off as local champions....growing via production of cars with high local content..before expanding out of their country.(eg...South Korea's KIA , Hyundai and co were able to grow thanks to the opening of South Korea's first Iron and Steel complex in 1971).

I guess Japanese car manufacturers are an exception. But the trick they have used is produce high volume...so that they can have all the cash in the world to do what they want to do.

Innson's problem was not his lack of ideas...or that he was a bad businessman....but that his model was unsustainable so long as the local content was poor. If Ajaokuta had been working....Innoson would have grown easily in Nigeria..then Africa...then become big enough to start outsourcing production.

APC better fix Aajokuta.
How can you build Ajaokuta when power generation was 0MW?
Producing steel is less proprietary technology than manufacturing car engines!! Also, how many Naija universities offer automotive engineering and design?!

The body is imported from abroad...as is the engine.

Fact is...we cannot make the body in Nigeria....because we do not have Ajaokuta working.

And you cannot have a good car manufacturing system in Nigeria if you are not making the engines in Nigeria.

My name is not Afonja...and this news means that APC should fix Ajaokuta, invest in power and do all they can to make sure Nigeria is designing and making engines at home.(So...i am also shouting at APC. Criticism means offering your ideas about what needs to be done)

Because...you cannot keep on importing engines for the cars you make WHEN your source of forex is very very poor.

Therein lies the problem.
Stop misinforming yourself. Powertrain is the most difficult and complex system to build. Chinese and Indian auto manufacturers are still using engines built by Japan and US today. What an arrogantly sophisticated prick!!

Innoson has never occured to me as a car manufacturing company but a car part compilation company, hence the reason for reliance on forex to import the parts to be coupled...

let's not embrace dependency, we need real productions
And what has anybody in your lineage built? How many people have you employed?
For over over 30 years, Dangote imported commodities like rice, sugar, cement, flour etc into Naija with generous govt support. So to suggest that import is a bad thing means that Dangote did a lot of bad things as well. BTW, no country actually manufactures cars 100%. Several components come from different countries.
